Re: Oret's suggestions on defense, just assume Sindran relays the orders to the goblins.

I have Summon Monster III which I can use to summon a Lantern Archon which is immune to electricity and has skills for fancy support. Also, it has truespeech so it can probably talk to the elemental if it's intelligent enough. I, myself, have Elemental Speech so I can talk to it anyway.

Basically, I can probably only serve as a diplomatic or support capacity. On the other hand, I can possibly get close enough to it to cast Stone Shape to make a stone cage. How effective that will be, I dunno. But I do like the idea.

One thing I know Elementals don't have is great Will saves. I think Caladwhen will best serve by debuffing the living crap out of it, using Slow and Enervation to much fanfare. With a buffed up Intelligence score, there stands a very good chance Caladwhen can land some of these spells.

One other thought is that it will be susceptible to a Suggestion spell, which we could use to lure it to somewhere of our choosing with a well worded statement.

I'm also happy to bring along some Undead. Kumanda is entirely expendable, but I think we'll want to keep the Zombiebus for its originally intended purpose... plus getting it up there will be close to impossible, unless we again lured it down.

Actually, that gives me a crazy idea. Humor me and hear this one out...

A crazy idea:
Why don't we raise the Treant, use a well worded Suggestion to lure the elemental down, where an epic battle between the two could ensue... and we'd all of course lend our energies to helping the Zombie Treant destroy the Elemental. If Talon cast Haste on the Zombie Treant, it would be a fairly even pitched battle, using the last ridiculous monster we killed to beat on the next one. The 9th Knot would barely break a sweat. Just a thought.

By the way, Nariel can also lend a hand with protection spells. Specifically, she can cast Protection from Energy on a few folks, which can absorb up to 60 electrical damage at her level.

On completely other business, I'd like to start going over item creation choices. Assuming we all get roughly 8,000 to 9,000 gold for an item creation budget after divvying up the loot... what is the maximum item value we can build IB? Ideally, Caladwhen would love to spend 8k fashioning a Headband of Intelligence +4 (16K value, 8k to create). Having said that, if you don't want us putting all the value into one item, she would settle for the +2 version, and then build some other minor items, scrolls and the what not.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Crazy Idea: Bahahaha that's fantastic. I can just imagine our evil little crew eating popcorn while watching the battle of the titans, making commentary.

Nariel: Sweet, I totally forgot to check your cohort! That might get her on Talon's good side (or at least off his "Kill if convenient" side).

If we're getting 8-9k each and are allowed to blow it all on one item I have some VERY nice armor ideas in mind. Dwarven Plate comes to mind. I thought about some Invulnerability armor, but then we'd have to get our hands on a wish or miracle spell (which would be a waste to use on a set of armor).

So either I can get DR 3/- or an AC bonus of 4. I gotta say I'm leaning towards the AC bonus, that's a pretty significant bonus.

Oret isn't going to push for magic items. While he won't turn something down if it's made for him, he's not in this for the loot.

That said, if you're looking for things to make, I'd suggest:

Amulet of Mighty Fists
Belt of Physical Might (Dex/Con)

Personally, as a player, I have issues with expendable items (potions, etc.) - I much prefer continuous items, or those that renew each day, because I always second-guess myself when it comes time to actually use the items.

Remember, it flies. That may pose a problem for the fighty folks.

As ridiculous as it is to turn the lightning elemental on the zombietree, it is probably the path of least resistance. With Náriel channeling negative energy to keep the tree up, this makes a lot of sense...

Spoiler:
this particular elemental only exists as a result of years and years of culminating raw magic around the Horn and its seal. Think of it as a giant battery : once drained, it becomes useless. If you can get it to go down, it will probably discharge itself until nothing is left.

Caladwhen can build you the Belt of Physical Might +2, for a total cost of 5K leaving you an additional 3-4K for whatever you so choose. She can't, however, create the Amulet since neither she nor her cohort (or anyone in this group actually) can cast Magic Fang.

As for your armor Talon, Morvius will have to build that, though Caladwhen or Nariel can assist if the he doesn't have the prerequisite spells.

Caladwhen herself will be making a Headband of Vast Intelligence +4 for her herself, along with a few scrolls with her cash. I consider boosting both Charisma and Intelligence, but I think straight up, Intelligence will serve her better. My only change will be that instead of a gold circlet, she'll opt for silver and sapphires.

IB, I have to associate two skills with it which automatically go to rank 7 when she wears the , so I'm going to choose Bluff and Sense Motive.

I'm going to post later tonight into the game play section, running out of time.

P.S. If you're interested in having Cala make you a Wonderous Item during out stay at the horn, let me know so we can see if it's doable. Your limit will be anything up to 16K in value, or 8K creation cost. If you want multiple items that add up to that amount, just link what you're thinking.

I'm sorry to rain on our parade - but I'd like to get this off my chest.

Spoiler:
Earlier this week Aerent surprised me, by letting me know that he can't continue. Considering the reasons he gave me, I think he made a wise but tough decision to free up some time by giving up a beloved hobby.

He hopes to be able to come back later - but that will probably be much later - so, I've called in a favor with Furcas, and sent Aerent on an important side-quest while Aerent's player is taking as much time off as he needs.

I'd like to say thank you, Aerent, for being such a scary bastard with us for almost a year, and I hope that freeing up some time will help you achieve what you are looking for. All the best.

If you have any questions, please PM me; If you have a personal message, I think he'd like to see a PM from you.

And with that bad news being said - take a moment to recover, but as rude as it is, I'd like to direct your focus back to the game.

I'm setting up a google doc spreadsheet which will help us schedule our plans. The link will soon be in your PM.

Nope. The only thing that happens when you summon an outsider with an alignment subtype is that the spell becomes a spell of that subtype.

d20pfsrd wrote:
When you use a summoning spell to summon a creature with an alignment or elemental subtype, it is a spell of that type.

So summoning a Lantern Archon is a spell with the Lawful, Good subtype but summoning a Dretch is a spell with the Chaotic, Evil subtype. This only restricts Clerics who cannot cast a spell that opposes their alignment or deity.

For other monsters, they follow the caster's alignment. In Sindran's case Lawful, Evil and is a spell of that type. If the creature is one of those applicable, they can gain the Fiendish template from Sindran (I INSIST MOST EVERYTHING SINDRAN SUMMONS LOOKS FIRE-Y), but in most cases casters can summon any monster on the list regardless of alignment. Fiendish template is useful because fire resist! And also because looks cool.

The first item should be doable, but I don't think anybody has Silent Image making the Cloak impossible at this time. We'll add the first to the list (it'll cost 5.5k, leaving you some additional funds for other items should you choose).

For the schedule IB, is it possible to make the sheet open to editing? Otherwise, but Caladwhen down for the following tasks:

Caladwhen's Schedule:
1. Defeat the Elemental. Cala will raise the Treant in order to do this, since I think we all like the idea of pitting such monstrosities against one another.

2. Sacrificing Halthus to get the ritual going. Cala will need some help should he try to resist, but my intent is to try and charm him and lead him to go willingly (if possible).

3. Start the ritual, once the elemental is defeated.

4. Find the plates to control Hexor and Vexor, and get those two under our thumb.

5. Crafting items. So far I've tallied up nearly 19K worth of gear, which means Caladwhen has at least that many days of crafting ahead of her.

6. Raise an army of the dead. Caladwhen will enlist Nariel to help raise as many as we can. Between the two, they should be able to raise well over 100 HD of Undead to defend the Horn. This should be done relatively early actually.

7. Help Morvius rebuild the Golem.

... okay, that's a lot, Cala will be a busy girl. I'm going to leave the defense of the Horn to you melee folks. If you need Caladwhen to do something, just say so. Additionally, if you want the undead stationed at certain areas, just say where.

I think I'll leave it locked. For now. It's a little hard to keep track of changes unless I'm the one who makes them.

Especially when it comes to sorting, changing priorities, I'd like to be sure that things don't get messed up by accident.

Thanks for being so thorough with regards to crafting requirements BTW. That really helps!

I have updated the schedule. I'm still not sure if it's wise to leave it editable for all; for now, I'll keep it locked down.

- Cala, Sindran; would you please make a Messageboard Alias for your organisation? then you can have your mooks do stuff as you please. And, if you enter the stats, I can look things up.

- I've added some priorities to the schedule. Shout if you don't agree.

"The Silent Hand" (Organization)

Alias made. I'll post this evening; I had planned to last night, but Firefox crashed and I lost one rather lengthy post.

Lesson learned? When writing a big post, write it in a document and then cut and paste it. Frustrating.

My goals for tonight's post will be to charm Halthus (if he isn't already smitten with Cala) and raise the Treant. To endear him further actually, Cala will invite him to accompany her and Nariel while she raises the Treant with Nariel... then I'll spring a Charm Person on him. Charm doesn't mean I can ask him to kill himself or anything like that, it just makes him more susceptible to trickery.

Once the ceremony is under way, Cala will get to work on the magic items, starting with the Headband. She'll spend a couple hours each day searching for the plates as well.

Now then, I would like to focus on the quaint little town of Farholde and checking up on our, ah, allies. Anyone who'd like to assault the Horn will probably visit the town first to stock up, so I'd like to keep ears out and contacts open so we have due warning. Our allies will probably keep the commotion up and kill those in our way, but it's still useful to know the situation in town, what the townsfolk are thinking, and if anyone's planning to betray us anytime soon. Recruits for our organization is also a happy thing. Might get some of the interested older children from the orphanage. And also rub our success in Elise's face.

That said, will have to take a trip to town soon anyhow seeing as we need to get supplies and manpower to fix up the Horn.

And pay not attention to the fact that Caladwhen's avatar is a chained skull and my own appears to be a skull on fire.

"The Silent Hand" (Organization)

For this week, the Silent Hand will work in tandem with Heitr in Farholde on other complimentary objectives. More specifically, operatives of Venorik Rah will take an espionage action to spread disinformation to anyone who might be discussing what is going on with respect to the Horn should people starting noticing the beacon of light. Such lies will be things like the following:

i) This kind of thing happens every 80 years, and is only temporary

ii) A Druidic enclave has taken over the Horn, probably just them making the place inhabitable.

iii) No, no... when the minions of Vetra-Kali occupied the Horn 80 years ago, it never was lit up like that (or it was a different color)... nothing to worry about

iv) Saranae cleanses the Horn every decade or so, this is to be expected.

The goal will be to lure people into a false sense of security, delaying action from them for hopefully as long as possible. It won't work indefinitely, but hopefully will buy us some precious time.

Make sure some of these rumors scare away visitors. Some of those rumors peak my curiosity, and I might go there just to witness it. Like "Oh it's quite a light show, but it also releases deadly toxins. Nothing to worry about, they'll dissipate, but for now it's best to avoid the area"

Deadly toxins? Oh no! We must stop it at once!

...which is to say, there's no way you're going to keep everyone away. But this is a great effort and I'll definitely reward it.

Organization of Fire

The first week action of Heitr will be to Gather Information (Connections Check).

The three questions are:
1. What is the current situation in town? Specifically, is there any resistance organized?
2. What are the townsfolk, the church of Sarenrae, and so on thinking? For example, their opinions on the marvelous lightshow.
3. In regard to our allies, what have they been up to?

Should I make the roll someplace?

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Organization of Fire

Here's a little something for those of you interested in what Sindran is writing*.

*Shamelessly lifted and repurposed from Liber AL vel Legis (The Book of the Law) by Aleister Crowley.

The Book of Fire:

1. Heitr! The manifestation of Fire.

2. The unveiling of the company of hell.

3. Every being is a flame.

4. Every number is infinite; there is no difference.

5. Help me, o warrior lord of flame, in my unveiling before those of similar will!

6. Be thou Heitr, my secret centre, my heart & my tongue!

7. Behold! It is revealed by Sindran the burning prophet.

8. The flame is in the spark, not the spark in the flame.

9. Worship then the flame, and behold the light shed over you!

10. Let my servants be few & secret: they shall rule the many & the known.

11. These are fools that men adore: both their Gods & their men are fools.

12. Come forth, o children, in front of the flame, & take your fill of love!

13. I am above you and in you. My ecstasy is in yours. My joy is to see your joy.

14. In front, the gemmed scarlet is
The naked splendour of Fire;
She bends in ecstasy to kiss
The secret ardours of Heitr.
The dancing globe, the blinding red,
Are mine, O prophet of Eithe!

15. Now ye shall know that the chosen priest & apostle of infinite space is the prince-priest the Beast; and in his woman called the Scarlet Woman is all power given. They shall gather my children into their fold: they shall bring the glory of the fire into the hearts of men.

16. For he is ever a sun, and she a star. But to him is the winged secret flame, and to her the stooping starlight.

17. But ye are not so chosen.

18. Burn upon their brows, o splendrous serpent!

19. O scarlet-lidded woman, bend upon them!

20. The key of the rituals is in the secret word which I have given unto him.

21. With the God & the Adorer I am nothing: they do not see me. They are as upon the earth; I am heaven, and there is no other God than me, and my lord Heitr.

22. Now, therefore, I am known to ye by my name Fire, and to him by a secret name which I will give him when at last he knoweth me. Since I am Infinite Space, and the Infinite Stars thereof, do ye also thus. Bind nothing! Let there be no difference made among you between any one thing & any other thing; for thereby there cometh hurt.

23. But whoso availeth in this, let him be the chief of all!

24. I am Fire, and my word is six and fifty.

25. Divide, add, multiply, and understand.

26. Then saith the prophet and slave of the beauteous one: Who am I, and what shall be the sign? So she answered him, bendingdown, a lambent flame of red, all-touching, all penetrant, her lovely hands upon the black earth, & her lithe body arched for love, and her soft feet not hurting the little flowers: Thou knowest! And the sign shall be my ecstasy, the consciousness of the continuity of existence, the omnipresence of my body.

27. Then the priest answered & said unto the Queen of Space, kissing her lovely brows, and the dew of her light bathing his whole body in a sweet-smelling perfume of sweat: O Fire, continuous one of Hell, let it be ever thus; that men speak not of Thee as One but as None; and let them speak not of thee at all, since thou art continuous!

28. None, breathed the light, faint & faery, of the stars, and two.

29. For I am divided for power's sake, for the chance of union.

30. This is the creation of the world, that the pain of division is as nothing, and the joy of dissolution all.

31. For these fools of men and their woes care not thou at all! They feel little; what is, is balanced by weak joys; but ye are my chosen ones.

32. Obey my prophet! follow out the ordeals of my knowledge! seek me only! Then the joys of my power will redeem ye from all pain. This is so: I swear it by the vault of my body; by my sacred heart and tongue; by all I can give, by all I desire of ye all.

33. Then the priest fell into a deep trance or swoon, & said unto the Queen of Hell; Write unto us the ordeals; write unto us the rituals; write unto us the law!

34. But she said: the ordeals I write not: the rituals shall be half known and half concealed: the Law is for all.

35. This that thou writest is the book of Fire.

36. My scribe prophet of Eithe, the priest of the princes, shall not in one letter change this book; but lest there be folly, he shall comment thereupon by the wisdom of the Beast.

37. Also the mantras and spells; the acts and the words; the work of the wand and the work of the sword; these he shall learn and teach.

38. He must teach; but he may make severe the ordeals.

39. The word of the Law is WILL.

40. Who calls us those that Will to Power will do no wrong, if he look but close into the word. For there are therein Three Grades, the Prophet, and the Warrior, and the worker of Hell. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

41. The word of Sin is Restriction. O man! refuse not thy wife, if she will! O lover, if thou wilt, depart! There is no bond that can unite the divided but love: all else is a curse. Accursed! Accursed be it to the aeons! Hell.

42. Let it be that state of manyhood bound and loathing. So with thy all; thou hast no right but to do thy will.

43. Do that, and no other shall say nay.

44. For pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is every way perfect.

45. The Perfect and the Perfect are one Perfect and not two; nay, are none!

46. Nothing is a secret key of this law. Sixty-one the Sarenraens call it; I call it eight, eighty, four hundred & eighteen.

47. But they have the half: unite by thine art so that all disappear.

48. My prophet is a fool with his one, one, one; are not they the Ox, and none by the Book?

49. Abrogate are all rituals, all ordeals, all words and signs. The Beast hath taken his seat in the East at the Equinox of the Gods; and let Sarenrae be with the heavens, who also are one. But they are not of me. Let Sarenrae be the adorant, the heavens the sufferer; the Beast in his secret name and splendour is the Lord initiating.

50. There is a word to say about the Hierophantic task. Behold! there are three ordeals in one, and it may be given in three ways. The gross must pass through fire; let the fine be tried in intellect, and the lofty chosen ones in the highest. Thus ye have star & star, system & system; let not one know well the other!

51. There are four gates to one palace; the floor of that palace is of silver and gold; lapis lazuli & jasper are there; and all rare scents; jasmine & rose, and the emblems of death. Let him enter in turn or at once the four gates; let him stand on the floor of the palace. Will he not sink? Amn. Ho! warrior, if thy servant sink? But there are means and means. Be goodly therefore: dress ye all in fine apparel; eat rich foods and drink sweet wines and wines that foam! Also, take your fill and will of love as ye will, when, where and with whom ye will! But always unto me.

52. If this be not aright; if ye confound the space-marks, saying: They are one; or saying, They are many; if the ritual be not ever unto me: then expect the direful judgments of the Beast!

53. This shall regenerate the world, the little world my sister, my heart & my tongue, unto whom I send this kiss. Also, o scribe and prophet, though thou be of the princes, it shall not assuage thee nor absolve thee. But ecstasy be thine and joy of earth: ever To me! To me!

54. Change not as much as the style of a letter; for behold! thou, o prophet, shalt not behold all these mysteries hidden therein.

55. The child of thy bowels, he shall behold them.

56. Expect him not from the East, nor from the West; for from no expected house cometh that child. Leita! All words are sacred and all prophets true; save only that they understand a little; solve the first half of the equation, leave the second unattacked. But thou hast all in the clear light, and some, though not all, in the dark.

57. Invoke me under my stars! Love is the law, love under will. Nor let the fools mistake love; for there are love and love. There is the dove, and there is the serpent. Choose ye well! He, my prophet, hath chosen, knowing the law of the fortress, and the great mystery of the Planes of Hell.

All these old letters of my Book are aright; but the Emperor is not the Star. This also is secret: my prophet shall reveal it to the wise.

58. I give unimaginable joys on earth: certainty, not faith, while in life, upon death; peace unutterable, rest, ecstasy; nor do I demand aught in sacrifice.

59. My incense is of resinous woods & gums; and there is no blood therein: because of my hair the trees of Eternity.

60. My number is 11, as all their numbers who are of us. The Five Pointed Star, with a Circle in the Middle, & the circle is Red. My colour is black to the blind, but the blue & gold are seen of the seeing. Also I have asecret glory for them that love me.

61. But to love me is better than all things: if under the night stars in the desert thou presently burnest mine incense before me, invoking me with a pure heart, and the Serpent flame therein, thou shalt come a little to lie in my bosom. For one kiss wilt thou then be willing to give all; but whoso gives one particle of dust shall lose all in that hour. Ye shall gather goods and store of women and spices; ye shall wear rich jewels; ye shall exceed the nations of the earth in spendour & pride; but always in the love of me, and so shall ye come to my joy. I charge you earnestly to come before me in a single robe, and covered with a rich headdress. I love you! I yearn to you! Pale or purple, veiled or voluptuous, I who am all pleasure and purple, and drunkenness of the innermost sense, desire you. Put on the wings, and arouse the coiled splendour within you: come unto me!

62. At all my meetings with you shall the priestess say -- and her eyes shall burn with desire as she stands bare and rejoicing in my secret temple -- To me! To me! calling forth the flame of the hearts of all in her love-chant.

63. Sing the rapturous love-song unto me! Burn to me perfumes! Wear to me jewels! Drink to me, for I love you! I love you!

64. I am the red-lidded daughter of Sunset; I am the naked brilliance of the voluptuous night-sky.

65. To me! To me!

66. The Manifestation of Fire is at an end.

They have captured and bound a pair of crocodiles, to be housed in C3.

Schedule has been updated to reflect the recent actions.

I assume you'd like to go to the sanctum now, and try to lure the elemental down?
Tell me what happens :)

it has initiative: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
oh yeah. It really is THAT fast.

this should've been in gameplay - but I'm not giving up my initiative ;)

Talon - I don't think that you can assist with crafting, unfortunately, but what we haven't yet done is investigate the conjuration magic around the thrones: the scrap of paper we found talked of a way out using the thrones. If that is true, then there might be a way in that we don't yet know of. That would be bad.

Using your arcane knowledge to investigate this would be really helpful.

does your character have enough INT to think of that?
:)

???

Int check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Er - yes? Intellect is NOT Morvius' shortcoming... ;)

Truth be told, Caladwhen already kinda figured out that the thrones teleport a person around... we just haven't actually tried it out to see where. Good memory though Morvius, because to be honest, with everything going on all at once, I totally forgot about the thrones.

One thing Talon could be very useful for is helping find those plates for Hexor and Vexor. That should to be done if we want those nuisance creatures under our thumb.

By the way, that lightning elemental is insanely fast. I'll need someone to distract it while I cast Suggestion on it... hopefully luring it to the ground level. I'll make sure Nariel casts Protection from Energy on anyone taking on the point-tank position (to absorb up to 50 electrical damage).

Speaking of suggestion, I think I'll try a wording along the following lines:

"An electrical storm is building, and the horn itself is a giant conductor. Stand near the base at ground level, and feed off the glorious natural energy a storm provides!"

Basically, trying to convince our greedy elemental to go down to the base of the horn to get a good meal of raw natural lightning. Basically, the more reasonable the request, the more likely it will succeed. Once down there, let the fun begin. Talon should caste Haste on the Treant, so he can operate normally... meanwhile, after the elemental gest down there, Caladwhen will cast Slow on him, followed by some Enervations.

Schedule of Buffs
Caladwhen will cast Fox's Cunning, and boost her Intelligence to 24 before casting, which means the Will DC is 20, with the possibility of a -2 penalty for a reasonably worded suggestion (which this wording hopefully provides). Other buff spells will include Fly and Protection from Energy from Nariel (she can cast up to three), as well as True Strike for Enervation.

Any other thoughts?

So had I - I only remembered when I was going back through the thread to look for all the treasure...

Caladwhen wrote:

I can do that: Dex-boosting mutagen, plus barkskin, plus shield, plus protection from energy => +11 to AC (for a total AC of 29) and resist electricity 20. It will also make my bombs more accurate - and with a targeted bomb admixture extract, there won't be a splash radius for anyone to worry about.

Actually, if someone can cast mage armour, then I won't need my chain shirt - I have a feeling that going up against a lightning elemental while wearing metal might be contra-indicated (we'll leave the idea of whether going up against one at all is sensible and just accept that it isn't, but we're going to do it anyway...)

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Please, I can effect 7 people with my haste spell, I'll just hit everybody with it.

More Buff Scheduling: Haste on everybody (including treant), shield, mirror image, and a true strike before I go in just for kicks.

If we need a closer, I can cast Sanctuary on the off-chance that it'll fail and won't be able to target someone when they try to get closer to it. Calm Emotions can also prevent combat until we're ready, so if that succeeds, we'll have time for positioning.

Of course, sending a Lantern Archon first to get its attention is my suggestion.

I can give Morvius Mage Armor. Sindran, I think those are good precautions... and definitely a good idea to send in the Archon first. If we're lucky, he'll blow his first attack on it.

So buff recap for Cala - Fox's Cunning, Haste, Protection from Energy (Lightning), True Strike and Fly. Once the Elemental is distracted, I'll hit it with the suggestion, which hopefully succeeds.

I'm ready when you guys are I think. Caladwhen will take a rear position, far as I can from this thing.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I believe I'm ready, all my personal buffs are scheduled and I'll leave the rest to you guys.

Good to go as well. First stop: Lightning Elemental. Next: Shopping in Farholde! And then the WORLD!

If we're going ahead with trying to lure the Elemental down, might I suggest getting the Lantern Archon to do it? It can sort-of-talk to it and can survive lightning.

Still...I think a good aligned creature would prevent an other to be led to their doom. Why would an archon comply? I'm not buying it yet.

I thought elementals were neutral?

We could lie to it, say it's doing something good.

Elementals are, but Lantern Archons are lawful good. In any event IB, if it's a deal breaker, I'm sure we can just move ahead with the suggestion spell, and summon the archon later.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Ah, I thought of "another" as "another good creature." We probably have enough firepower to handle this thing

Let's forget the Archon for now. It opens up a can of worms I'd rather pass on.

Not a problem. Continue! (Though I can summon small Lightning Elementals, which would still work as well, though not as helpful in combat.)

OK, all buffs taken care of. I believe Morvius has the first move to distract the thing, then Call can make her move. Talon probably wants to be in front of her when the storm hits.
So, Morvius, tell us in gameplay how you enter the sanctum and draw its attention?

OK, 1 medium-rare chargrilled tiefling coming up...

Female Elf Wizard (Conjuror)

Not so fast... I finally finished the crunch on Nariel, and needless to say, she'll be extremely valuable for this encounter.

In addition to casting Protection from Electricity to absorb up to 60 damage, she'll also case Resist Energy (Electricity), to absorb the first 10 damage of every hit.

Morvius is clearly tanking in this encounter, but she can give those two spells to one other person as a backup; I'm guessing that either Talon or Oret will fill that roll. Let me know which one, and she'll cast it.

Edit: Scratch the backup, it occurs to me that Talon or Oret won't need those protections half as much as the Treant will... we should probably put them on it. Thoughts?

So buffs from Nariel will include the following:

Morvius:
Protection from Electricity
Resist Electricity 10

Zombie Treant
Protection from Electricity
Resist Electricity 10

Everyone within 50' of Nariel on the ground level will receive the benefits of a profane Bless from Urgathoa.

She is also Caladwhen Protection from Energy, as she might be the target of an AoE if the elemental has any, since Cala will need to be no further than 40' from it to cast it. Nariel be laying down Negative Energy Bursts to heal the Treant as needed, which means she'll need to keep somewhat close to the action.

The Leadership feat has proven to be a huge bang for the buck in this adventure path. Having both an extremely useful cohort and a secret criminal organization at Cala's beckon call is just oh so much fun! Charisma... dump stat my ass ;)
