So You Wanna Try Out Pathfinder Bundle!

Thursday, February 2, 2023

You didn’t have to be an Infinite Eye psychic to know this was coming. We’ve partnered with our friends at Humble Bundle to create a special digital deal to help you and your friends play Pathfinder and support a great open-source cause!

So You wanna try out Pathfinder RPG Book Humble Bundle

What is a Humble Bundle? Bundles are limited-time collections of games, books, software, and more. Simply pay what you want and choose where your money goes, including to charity. Most bundles come in tiers starting at only $1—but the more you give, the more you get!

Inside our bundle, you’ll find a complete set of digital assets to get you started playing Pathfinder—and inspire you to keep playing for many adventures to come. This includes over $400 in rulebooks, world guides, adventures, and accessories—with top-notch high-fantasy lore and art.

All save one of the products in this bundle are PDFs that you can redeem with codes at the Paizo Store, one code per tier. There are three tiers to this bundle, starting at $5 and ending with a digital $25 tier. The last tier also includes the Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults for Foundry VTT!

To top it off, a portion of your purchase goes to Code for America, which helps municipalities and government institutions implement programs based on open-source software solutions.

Watch the full Code for America TED Talk

The first tier starts at $5 and includes a code for seven PDFs worth over $100, including:

  • Pathfinder Second Edition Beginner Box (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rulebook (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Second Edition Bestiary (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Character Sheet Pack (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Player Character Pawn Collection (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Lost Omens World Guide (PDF)
  • Pathfinder One-Shot #1: Sundered Waves (PDF)

For $15, you'll also get the PDFs in the above tier, plus a code for 11 more PDFs worth over $150, including:

  • Pathfinder Bestiary 2 (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Lost Omens Character Guide (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Lost Omens Ancestry Guide (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Adventure: Troubles in Otari (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Troubles in Otari (PDF/JPG)
  • Pathfinder Society Intro #1: The Second Confirmation (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Society Intro #2: United in Purpose (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Flip-Mat Classics: Ancient Dungeon (PDF/JPG)
  • Pathfinder Flip-Mat Classics: Swamp (PDF/JPG)
  • Pathfinder Flip-Mat: City Sites Multipack (PDF/JPG)
  • Pathfinder Adventure: Little Trouble in Big Absalom (PDF)

In the third tier, for $25, you'll get codes for the above tiers, plus a code for additional 10 PDFs, and codes for the Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults PDF and Abomination Vaults Foundry VTT Bundle, worth another $150!

  • Pathfinder Secrets of Magic (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Gamemastery Guide (PDF)
  • Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults Pawn Collection (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Gamemastery Guide NPC Pawn Collection (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Society Intro: Year of Boundless Wonder (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Arcane Library (PDF/JPG)
  • Pathfinder Pawns: Traps & Treasures Pawn Collection (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Adventure: A Fistful of Flowers (PDF)
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults (Foundry VTT)

PDFs are associated with your account when redeemed. They are watermarked with the redeemer’s email address when they are downloaded. So, if you want to give these as gifts, you will likely want to give the codes themselves.

Humble Bundles offer great deals and support great causes. Purchasers get a say in how much of their donation goes to each participant at checkout.

Thank you for playing Pathfinder!

I already have almost all of these items, but I may just pick it up for the Foundry module.

Thanks!

Just bought the Abomination Vault FVTT bundle this morning, RIP. Great bundle though! A few things I'm missing in there so may grab it regardless.

Excellent timing! We have so many newcomers who will be delighted with this deal!

SO good.

I mean, wow, I can't believe Paizo is doing this going out of business sale! You'd have to be insane to give out this many products in one bundle ,after all! (massive joke if not obvious)

One way to tell that you are a long time loyal customer of Paizo: Those Humble Bundles are never a good deal for you.

It is a pity that non-customers who want to get into Paizo's latest game system are unlikely to be frequenting these forums at the right time -- but something tells me that this time may be different....

Perfect timing! I've gone through the CRB and just got FoundryVTT yesterday and was about to figure out what I wanted to get next. Now I have SO MUCH STUFF I may never need to decide! If only the bundle also included a an extra month or two of free time to learn how to use Foundry and be a GM...

A good package. Minor issues: "Troubles in Otari" uses the flip-mat image for the adventure. "Flip-Mat Classics: Anceint Dungeons" has a typo.

I have some of these, but I may pick up the full bundle... I just wish the AP for Abomination Vaults was for Fantasy Grounds instead!

One question I do have, since I already own some of the PDFs (beginners box included) how will that work, will I get a second copy listed in my account? If that is the case, are those something I can use for a giveaway during a future stream of one-shots or PF2e games I stream to bring more people into the Paizo family?

You can only have 1 digital copy total. You get one code per tier, not per product, but codes can be given away.

Sheesh. I think I own everything in this Bundle except... the AV collected edition and the Foundry module. Which I was thinking of buying. Which is less than half price in this Bundle, when you consider Humble lets me pay in CDN $$$$.

I need to double check my digital assets, but I think I might be able to give away the lower tiers this time...

Mood.

Might be worth it for the Foundry version for me.

Am I reading the Humble Bundle page correctly? It's been live for just over 3 hours and had 5,764 bundles sold!

Over 6k now, galaxy move there, Paizo.

I like how it's still got value even if you follow the rulebook lines; that's nice. I may pick it up for the extra scenarios.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Abomination Vaults with the Foundry module alone makes this an absurd deal. Everything else is gravy on top.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm slightly irritated that it's got a lot of the same stuff as previous bundles, but I get it. It's not really for me and there's enough stuff I don't have that it's probably worth it. (Would absolutely be worth it if I was planning on running Abomination Vaults, even though I already have the separate books from an earlier deal.)

Is the core book that comes with this the 4th printing? If not, will it be updated to the 4th at some point?

Yes. Digital copies are updated, and you can re-download with future print versions.

I want to get this. I have physical copies of most of the first tier, but not really any of the rest. I really hope the fact that 6,000 of these have been sold doesn’t mean issues with redeeming them… ;)

[EDIT]Ok, seems like over 14,000 now…[/EDIT]

Bought it just for Fist Full of Flowers adventure, which had somehow slipped under my radar, and for a few maps.

And also the Founday content.

Paizo appears to be banking on future profits by increasing its player base substantially with this crazy good deal today.

If you have a flip-mat PDF, can you take it to a local Staples (etc.?) to have it printed off, or will they believe that's a copyright violation?

You bought a humble bundle to get an adventure that Paizo offers for free? Man, don't run a business.

He also bought it for the maps and foundry content. Let's not harsh the squee.

I was not aware of that.

Io9 has a article advertising this bundle, which hopefully means Pathfinder will be getting more love from that site, which prior to this current OGL kerfuffle was basically just printing out DnD press releases and calling them articles.

At any rate, it's being advertised at venues beyond the forums

Saw this offer online and have some interest but was wondering what is the best way to learn how to play this? Are there some decent explainer videos or introduction videos?

It worked out perfectly for me, as my group started our first session last week w/ the beginner box. I saw Paizo's announcement on Twitter of all places.

Nonat1s and Rules Lawyer on youtube. Start with the beginner's box. It walks you through how to play and is fun to play.

I've just got the big $25 pack, and plugged in the redeem codes, but I get no confirmations, and see no PDFs/digital content anywhere in my account. What am I doing wrong?

I can tell you that I have done just this.

Specifically I uploaded the image to:
https://www.staples.com/services/printing/engineering-blueprints/
In at least one case I think I added some flip tiles to the edge of the map digitally to make it take up the whole sheet. I'm fairly certain in a couple of other cases I just sent the image as is.

Note the paper on blueprint is thinner stock. So if you want stronger stock do the poster print. But I've found the blueprint paper works ok for my use. But obviously it isn't laminated cardstock tough. :)

Somewhere I recall finding in the forums where some exec for Paizo said.... yes... one of the reason we give you a print quality image of the digital picture is so you can have one made. (they didn't' say print tons of them to hand out to all your friends however) I was at least aware of where that post was the first time I sent them to staples... but as I've done it now a few times for a few different maps to use, I no longer remember where it is, since I've never been asked to prove it.

The site does make you click a box saying you assert that you do have the right to have it printed.

So I am assuming that you went to:

https://paizo.com/paizo/account/redemptions
and logged into the Paizo website with your userid and password. Then entered your code you got from the HumbleBundle website in the box there, and clicked on the redeem button. It should come back and then show a redeemed code in a box below. Go through that for each code you want to redeem to that account.
Inside the box below after you submit is should say somethin like:

this olde code here Redeemed date 11, 1111, 11:11am Some designated bundle name for that code:......... 11 digital assets

I would expect that with the $25 bundle you will have 3 codes you will get and need to enter each of the three in. One will grant you 10 items, another will have 11 items and the last one will probably have 7 items.

If you see the codes listed in the box below, then you should be able to hover over My Account at the top, and select Digital Content. This should be where you see your given items. These codes stay in this page, so you can go back to look to see which codes/bundles you have gotten/used.

Humblebundles are a great way to get a PDF copy of something you missed when it came out, but might have picked up a physical copy of from a local shop, but are questioning paying full price for a digital copy of it.

I print maps for my games at Staples all the time and never have a problem. Paizo watermarks the PDF with your name, so unless you’re printing a bunch of copies, it’s pretty clear that it is for personal use.

Yessir, followed all those steps. Up until hitting the submit button. Tried each code, but was given a blank page in response. No confirmations, and no digital content on the account when clicked from the top tab. But your breakdown of the steps is appreciated—let’s me know I did it correctly. I’ll try it again tomorrow, and if it fails again, I’ll figure out how to open a support ticket. Thank you for your time with this :)

Jason Bulmahn one of PF2's central architects has a YouTube channel. He has a Tutorial Playlist that gives advice for running RPGs in general but the latest videos in it are about PF2 specifically.

I’ve been looking at PF2 actual plays etc while in hospital last week. I have a second hand core rulebook and on Thursday ordered a paperback copy of Rise of the Runelords for reading material.

Then, just after I was discharged from hospital, I saw the HumbleBundle offer referred to on rpg.net and it was a wonderful opportunity to explore PF2 cheaply. My son runs PF2 (among other things) for his group and pointed me at what to focus on.

I struggled a bit with the Paizo website to redeem things but it all worked out. I have found out that I had to switch to Chrome on my iPad rather than Safari.

Edward

My group usually only buys every pdf once, so thank you for the opportunity for me to feel considerably less bad :D

I was putting off Pathfinder purchases as I'm neck-deep in Starfinder R&D atm (maybe a Starfinder bundle soon nudge nudge wink wink) but this was too good of a deal to pass up, so I went all in :) Which means now I may have to start seriously considering GMing some Pathfinder =P

Just as a little update, we're a sneeze away from this having been live for four full days, 96 hours, and as of the time of posting this bundle is ~700 copies away from selling as many units as the very first 2e Humble Book Bundle managed in four weeks. It has around 30,000 units to go to beat out the old three-week-long 2016 Humble Bundle to become the best-selling Pathfinder/Paizo bundle ever, and has 18 more calendar days to do so.

Congratulations, team. Now do some good with that moolah, and help folks get on board!

Hupdeit: At 96 hours in exactly, this bundle has officially become the second-best-selling Paizo Humble Bundle by sales volume. It's 18 days and 30,000 copies to go to become the best-selling.

At this pace, I doubt it will take that long. Congrats, guys.

Two day and over 50,000 bundles sold. By my record keeping, this is now the second biggest Pathfinder Humble Bundle, and there is still 17 days to go (plus any extension). The largest Pathfinder Humble Bundle, by my records, was the first in March of 2016 with 77,500+ sold. I think this will surpass that one.

I'm just starting up a Starfinder game but I couldn't pass this deal up. But Paizo throw us Starfinder players a bone. Starfinder was left out of the 25% ogl discount as well.

I missed it cool thank you

We jumped on it, since we just started a game. Still waiting for the pocket editions of a few of these since hubby does not do electronic. But it’s great fun to learn a new game.

Last Saturday I ran the adventure using the SRD…no serious, but done game design, so not a problem. I am loving the extra details with the monster compendiums.

And the cause is one I fully support.
