What’s My Motivation?

The Lost Omens Character Guide helps you pursue your passions and goals!

Have you discovered this seeming contradiction yet? Epic roleplaying requires specificity. Great collaborative storytelling needs players who know what drives them. The better they can know “Where am I from?” and “Where am I going?” the better they can create a motivated character. And it gives everyone else at the table something to play off of.

So let’s take a moment to recall and appreciate the incredibly detailed and evocative Lost Omens Character Guide preview articles that Developers Eleanor Ferron and Luis Loza have shared with us in recent weeks.

We embarked on an exploration of new cultures, ancestries, heritages:

We gathered insights into five major organizations:

The Pathfinder Lost Omens Character Guide is available today at your favorite local game, book, or comic shop, and here at paizo.com. Finally, all 136 pages are here for us to relish! Now, better than ever, we can answer, “Who am I in the Age of Lost Omens?”

A great book to be sure!

Though my Tien fighter still has no RAW way of gaining access to Tien weapons aside from Unconventional Weaponry. Hrm...

Looking for feedback. Do you like seeing the Table of Contents and back of the book? Or meh?

Back of the book is kind of meh, blown up high quality of that art piece would be cooler IMO.
Table of contents is fairly interesting, I think it entices about the sections not yet spoiled by blog posts fairly well.

I like this type of collating blog is useful.

Extremely.

I hope that Every product has a blog post that links all the related teasers and staff commentary.

And I'm finding all the Glindexes to be incredibly helpful.

So often the information I need is simple, and not having to flip back and forth following breadcrumbs of page numbers and single word indexing is a delight.

This is also a topic we wanted feedback on. Thanks.

That piece of art was featured in higher resolution all on its own in the Seeds of Hope web fiction last month. So, wish granted!

Table of content is awesome to get a feel of the amount of content for each sections and can show us a bit where the book "focus". Very informative. (And the new ToC have nice images that could give an idea on the "vibe" of the book.

I like seeing the ToC because it gives me healthy expectations of the scope of the book.

My biggest complaint about Lost Omens World Guide was how the marketing created the expectation that the book was as big and comprehensive as the Inner Sea World Guide. In reality, it was more like an extended gazetteer -- a supplement to ISWG instead of a replacement. It's a quality book, but a GM still needs Inner Sea World Guide if they want to create a campaign in Golarion. Showing the ToC might have helped manage those expectations.

Rear cover - meh

ToC - sweet, would like it larger so I can read it on screen. At current resolution I had to save the file and enlarge it on my desktop.

My geekout moment when y'all previewed actual pages from the new Core Rulebook was that I could see the chapter titles, so this is definitely the type of content I am seeking.

Personally, I would like to see the Table of Contents just so that way I have an understanding of what's in the book.

+1 to Table of Contents.

Back of the book, not so much.

The new ToC of PF2 books are fantastic and a big improvement from bland PF1 ones. The back of the book ... don't really care that much about those, but they feel like a step back.

I think the back of the book is fine, but unneeded for the article. You usually look there for a summary of the book's materials if you have the book in hand, but the ToC and list of spoiler articles gives a much better summary.

I'm not a fan of the Wendigo on the cover.

They are pretty scary looking and I would not want to meet them.

Another +1 for the Table of Contents. Seeing the allocation of pages to the different sections is nice.

As for the back cover, I'm on the fence. Not REALLY necessary, but it does "bookend" with the front cover to balance things out.

Silver Crusade

The ToC is a nice thing to see, the backcover? Eh.

Another +1 for the table. I like all the handy lil previews.

I like it, while I was already sold on this (picked it up at my FLGS) if it was something I was on the fence on, then the ToC (mostly) and the back .. less so. Would help me make a choice.

BTW this book is awesome!

Liberty's Edge

I think the ToC is far more likely to convince readers to buy the book rather than not. The back cover is both redundant and too simplistic compared to the ToC.

Not so in a store of course where you check the back cover before deciding whether opening the book to see what's inside, including the ToC, is worth your time.

+1 for TOC. It tells you about what's inside the book.
