Pathfinder Second Edition Character Sheets

Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Many of you are probably already dreaming up characters for Pathfinder Second Edition, writing them down in journals, carving them in ancient stones, or maybe even incanting them to the darkest corners of the Abyss. Others might be waiting on the official character sheets to begin their journey. Fortunately, that wait is over. You can grab both the full-color and printer-friendly version of the character sheet today!

If these aren’t quite what you’re looking for, you might instead opt for the Character Sheet Pack, which releases August 1st! This handy folder contains custom character sheets for all 12 classes, with expanded sheets for every detail you might want to record about your character, from the location of their gear to the name and stats of their animal companion. You can get the Character Sheet Pack right here on paizo.com or at your favorite local game store starting August 1st!

I mean... you can still inscribe your statistics on ancient stone if you want; just don’t ask us to help drag it to your game table.

Those are... very blue and beige. They're a bit of an eyesore.

Yay! Looks good to me. :)

Maybe it's just me, but looks like there is an error on the full color one. I don't see the symbols for actions in the top left.

Yup, the ligature set wasn't loaded properly. I am looking into it and will have it fixed ASAP.

Cool, other than that these sheets look awesome! Can't wait to put my first 2e character on one.

Awesome! These look great, and I especially love the full color version.

That will likely prove useful.

Look at those!

Silver Crusade

Excellent. I have bought the sheet pack (I especially like the custom sheets, my Bard will care more about space for Cantrips than weapon types for example) but I'll only make a mess. They will be saved for my best handwriting. Useful online too.

The Exchange

YAY! Character sheets! Now if we could only get the Society Guild Guide....CAN'T WAIT!

Jason, when customer service has a chance, can they please come help us drag our game table to our ancient stone then?

Nice

In Minor Typo territory, looks like the C in Campaign Notes isn't capitalized. Something someone might want to think about fixing down the road, when all the ducks are in a row and not quacking wildly around the office like they are now.

Thanks for releasing these!

Possibly another issue on p3, in the 'Free Actions And Reactions' section. The coloured section with the checkboxes seems to have alternate text printed in the background, which isn't present on the B&W sheet. Hopefully an easy fix.

So happy to have some nice, clean, printer-friendly sheets. Thanks!

Cool. There seems to be room for notes and descriptions in the attacks, spells, actions, and saves, this is great.

Now, just this as a form-type fillable pdf and I'll be all set. Meanwhile, my handwriting will have to do (ouch).

THANK YOU - But yes, the icons for the actions and the area for Free Action/Reaction on the color sheet appears to be errored out.

Black and white looks pristine!

THANK YOU

I like the final Reaction symbol, and I adore the cute backpack symbol for the Bulk section (I love when sheets have symbols on the sections, such as hearts for HP, magnifying glass for Perception, really awesome sheet).

Awesome!
I just got my subs today and the class Icon at the top of the sheet is cool! Can't wait to get the PDF version to print them out.

While these sheets are the bomb and all, for future reference it might be helpful for us blind folk if you tagged them for a proper reading order. Right now, I can barely make heads or tails of them.

Those printer friendly sheets are very welcome, I am not even downloading the other version, as my printer would never forgive me ^^

EDIT: Will there be a version of this sheet for organized play with a dedicated space for the character number?

Beautiful!

But what happens if a character has more than two Lore skills?

This is on my radar and very important to me. It may take a bit for us to figure it out, but we will make it happen.

Hmm they look a bit too busy on screen, but maybe it looks better on paper. I might prefer a cleaner one though.

I'm glad there is a black and white one as the color one is just ugly. I really liked the playtest character sheets. Oh well.

I really love these character sheets, but I'm just wondering. If we trim the fat as much as humanly possible, do you think these sheets could go down to 1 or 2 pages? Most of my friends are coming from 5E and used to a more loosey-goosey, unintrusive rules system that they don't need to spend more than 5 minutes learning. I'd probably have an easier time hooking them if I didn't have to hand them a small packet to fill out.

There are bound to be more "streamlined" sheets done by the community before long.

That being said, the official 5e sheet is 3 pages, if I remember correctly. PF2 is 4 pages. Both include one sheet for spells, so you can subtract 1 page for non-casters. Doesn't seem that much of a difference to me.

Grazie!

It does make the various parts of the sheet stand out nicely.

Pathfinder is misspelled in the footer of the B/W version.

Well, as my Core Rulebook arrived yesterday, this is quite timely. Thank you!

Fantastic!

And for those who are wondering, when printed out, each page taken individually and held in hand works just fine on the eyes (well, at least, the printer friendly version does, I'm not going to spend the ink on the other version so it's a non-issue for me).

My books arrived yesterday too (a lot of that going on around here, huh?), so I think I'll spend some of my free time today making the Dwarf Wizard that I'm planning on playing in Pathfinder Society games!

Overall, they seem functional. Definitely going to need to make some custom ones though.

Well, he has a point, no matter the tone. Combining hues of red and blue is always risky, and these sheets have a lot of brown. Red hues are usually used to mark small areas that demand attention.

Don't get me wrong: The structure seems pretty good and it's great the sheets are out. But I will spend my next minutes on trying to improve these colors...

EDIT: I found the following attempts to improve the coloring (for my taste, of course):

1) Invert colors. Brown becomes teal, blue becomes yellow.
2) Reduce saturation. Once it's down to 50%, the brown is way less dominant. Turning it black and white (saturation of 0%) also looks fine.
3) Replace brown by a rather light blue (#3D6798).

For folks like me who prefer to write up characters in statblocks, I've made a first attempt at a template here (based on the various Bestiary statblocks we've seen)

Feel free to copy & use as you like.

(I'll likely try to find something more elegant for the action icons but the derpy Unicode characters work well enough for now)

EDIT: Thanks to Rysky's excellent suggestion, I dropped the Unicode for (much better!) emojis for the action symbols

Both of them are very nice and pleasing to the eye! Super hyped to pick the game up at Gencon.

Thank you, tqomins! You continue to be incredible. :) I'm planning on creating pregens to run my players through Fall of Plaguestone, and I was going to need to create exactly this kind of condensed block for it.

You just saved me a lot of work. :D

Jason Bulmahn (and Paizo devs) as for making the character sheets accessible, doing it after the fact is a huge pain, but it can be done: google 'Adobe Accessibility Training' you may be able to do it via Acrobat Pro, depending on how the sheets were made.

Also keep in mind Aria accessibility standards and W3C web accessibility standards to help make all your products and your site as screen reader friendly as possible.

The more you make these things part of your normal workflow the better you'll make it for all your end users.

I know Paizo goes out of its way to be inclusive to a wide range of audiences, making sure your site and your products are accessible (and by this I dont mean you can use it on your phone) to all of them means a lot. Please dont let it be an after thought. Thanks

Holy Red, Batman! Why is there so much red on the full-color page? Pretty hard on the eyes and it makes everything more difficult to find and read. Something about the font (maybe the thickness of the letters?) makes my eyes want to cross and focus. I'd never use the color sheet.

I kind of like that all the core info is on the front sheet. It does make it a bit hard to read if you're not quite familiar with the design of the sheet. Recommend bolder lines around Totals (not just a different shape) to make them stand out a bit more.

I imagine there was simply no room to put a "Damage total" field for the Strikes sections? There's a total for attack (assumed: it's not labeled), but not damage. I suppose folks can just add Dice, Strength, Proficiency, Specialization, Other, and Traits individually, but lets be honest: that's an unnecessary PITA during combat.

Absolutely love the Proficiency key at the top left corner. That in mind: the Action key is completely useless. "Big-Dog = Big Dog" level useless. I'd sooner see that space distributed so the sections have more vertical space between them, or with any other useful bit of quick-reference data.

That's an graphical hiccup they're working on, the printer friendly version actually has the symbols.
