"Right..." yawns Slipp.

"So.. try to convince her that the Pathfinders are an upstanding group. And we would only hang around with other outstanding folk - like the Vidrians. And we would both be really good allies for them to have in the future. "

They take out their flute and fiddle with it a little.

"I don't suppose she is a music fan?" they ask hopefully.

"I'm guessing that name dropping how we assisted with the gargoyle last week might be helpful?"

"She will gladly listen to music from other cultures to know them better."

Slipp wrote:

"Perhaps. But few people know about that incident."

The interior of the embassy is home to a sprawling and luxurious courtyard and garden, including several chairs and tables on a terrace overlooking a stream. Although at first glance the area seems peaceful and idyllic, with no sign of anyone else in the garden, a loud hiss draws attention to a hideous lizard-like creature with eight legs and an unsettling gaze. Standing in front of the creature, slowly backing away from it, is an iruxi woman, whose faded green scales quickly turn to grey, and then her body completely transforms to stone.

Kesstraka is Petrified!

Apoc closes his eyes, but "opens" his galaxy, viewing the creatures from a distance, and consulting the ancient matter stored in his core for a clue as to what may have caused their host to have turned to stone.

Apoc knows that these creatures are basilisks, reptiles with the ability to turn creatures to stone with their gaze. A basilisk prefers to eat petrified flesh. Once a victim has been turned to stone, the basilisk crunches the fossilized corpse with its powerful jaws and lets its potent stomach acids do the rest.

The basilisks have Reactions: Petrifying Glance [reaction] (arcane, aura, visual) Trigger A creature within 30 feet that the basilisk can see starts its turn; Effect The target must attempt a DC 20 Fortitude save. If it fails, it's slowed 1 for 1 minute as its body slowly stiffens.

However, the only way that they can actually turn someone to stone is with an attack: Petrifying Gaze [two-actions] (arcane, concentrate, incapacitation, visual) The basilisk stares at a creature it can see within 30 feet. That creature must attempt a DC 22 Fortitude save. If it fails and has not already been slowed by Petrifying Glance or this ability, it becomes slowed 1. If the creature was already slowed by this ability or Petrifying Glance, a failed save causes the creature to be petrified.

Because the reactions are very powerful, I will be tracking the basilisks' reactions - or lack thereof - on the tracker.

The basilisks move up. 20' speed, so each of them needs 3 actions to get to their current positions.

That doesn't seem to sit well with the basilisks.

Slipp summons a boar! The boar gores the Green basilisk critically.

Aldonza also feels her body begin to stiffen. She manages to draw her sword performatively, gaining panache.

Apoc swings his staff, smashing Green until it sees stars. Crit!

Mindartis, there are not enough basilisk reactions to target Mialee. They'll do so next turn, and I'll use the Fort save then. There won't be enough reactions, I'll use Mialee's roll on Mindartis. Mindartis moves and fires an arrow. Miss on a 19 vs OG AC, Crit on a 30. :)

The basilisk's reactions only work within 30', so I'm triggering in initiative order and trying to keep very detailed notes about what the DCs are. Storg goes first, and Yellow (frightened 1) reacts; Aldonza goes next, doesn't trigger; Mindartis goes next, and Green (frightened 0) reacts, I'll use the roll of 27; Mialee triggers but there is not a basilisk within 30'. Slipp goes next, Red (frightened 1) reacts, Boar goes next, triggers from Cyan (frightened 1); Tharpe doesn't trigger; Apoc triggers Blue.
