Auntie Wu |
As soon as she's cut loose, Auntie Wu wipes the toad slime from her mouth and takes a deep breath of air. It's certainly not the sweet, fresh air of the forests and fields, but at this point she's not picky. She reaches up to pat Mogu. "Poor fungi. Hang in there!"
And then Mo Douqiu taunts them with something more meaningful.
Perception to Sense Motive, Base DC 20(+?): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Waiting for Kazuki and Lan to roll before I open the spoiler.
Still rattled, she's not at all certain if her reading of the situation is correct, but she is certain that staying here won't rid Willowshore of this villian. She squelches after the others, letting them take the lead while she takes deep breaths and a swig-- no, a deep pull-- from her gourd. Liquid courage, do your thing! She resolutely does NOT think about what she has just experienced. Not. One. Bit.
Meanwhile, Mogu extends their filaments through Auntie Wu's nasty-goo-soaked hair and over her clothing, absorbing the liquid and small-chunk-remnants of the deceased villagers that coat the halfling. It may be their last meal, if they don't survive this fight, but it's a fine one.

Sigurd: 12, Vekka: 14, Lan: 20, Auntie Wu: 20, Kazuki: 23. Opening spoiler.
You need a simple majority to outwit Mo Douqiu: ☆☆☆
If you win, you call his bluff, and may take a brief rest.
If you lose, you must fight him without resting, for he has tricked you!
Lan rolls his eyes.
"I know a bluff when I hear one. He can wait for us, we're the stars of this show."
He'll blast Auntie Wu and Mogu with rejuvenating flames and then Refocus.

Minor Retcon to Last Two Posts!
"HEEELP!"
The party falls for the trick, and immediately heads up the stairs.
Mo Douqiu's Deception is very high even for his level, so the DC was greater than 20, and the "Sense Motive (difficulty unknown)" was therefore "Sense Motive (hard)" or worse - so he has tricked you!
Second Floor
Once a relaxing area in which guests could enjoy tea and quiet conversation, the furniture and walls of this room have been vandalized and bear deep scratches. A hole has been smashed into the wall to the northeast...
To Do:
1) Read Discussion
2) Do you want to attempt a "Hard Level Five" Skill Challenge to convince him to leave w/o a fight? (There will be consequences for failure...)
3) Either way, place your Token on the Map in the Green Box
4) Unfortunately, due to his trick, you are impelled immediately up the stairs without a proper rest
5) Let's say you may "rest" for a single round, so, time for probably one spell, before proceeding...

Ho Lan |
Retcon: if we don't have 10 min to Refocus, Lan wouldn't use his Focus spell (it's very useful for reviving multiple people in combat).
Lan is at 39/40 or 40/40, depending on whether a minute has elapsed since we started fighting.
Lan would like to convince Gimmy to give up Mo Douqiu, reminding him of the deal that we made. Specifically, that he was supposed to take us to his boss, which wasn't Gurglegut, but Mo Douqiu, so Gimmy has broken his promise, and Lan is very. Very. Disappointed.
Not sure how many actions or what to roll. That wasn't technically the deal we made, so Lan's happy to roll Deception (also his Deception is higher than Diplomacy or Intimidate).

Red - almost dead - protests "You can't change sides! Mo Douqiu made you Leader!" Gimmy defends his decision "Mo Douqiu Leader, dummy. Gimmy not Mo Douqiu. Mo Douqiu Mo Douqiu!" and to this logic, Red - almost dead - concedes "True. Only one Mo Douqiu..." and he whirls to engage his former Leader in a swordfight "I kill you, Mo Douqiu make me Leader!" he wonders aloud, as if he had just forgotten what they had agreed upon logically - Gimmy adds "Maybe. Maybe not. Gimmy not want end up like Warty and Stingy! Gimmy want Live!" to which, again, Red - almost dead - concedes, remembering "Wait. They killed Warty and Stingy?" answered "They killed Warty and Stingy!" clarifying question "Warty and Stingy?" answered "Warty and Stingy?"
There is a momentary pause in the conversation, as Gimmy allows Red - almost dead - to fully contemplate his words.
"Gimmy. You must kill me then. I fight them, I die. I fight you, I die. Mo Douqiu, I die!" the existential crisis induces ironically manic laughter in Red - almost dead - as he accepts his fate: But not without a fight!
And they giggle together at the comedy of it all!

Sigurd wonders if Mo Douqiu thinks everything is a play, or maybe he thinks the village trapped behind the wall of souls is a dream world, or alternate reality, or something.
There is still a vague pain in his chest. Zoudou's knife carving through his armor and ribcage, yanking out his heart with three quick stabs. His life, gone in an instant.
The only thing Mo Douqiu values is entertainment.
As Sigurd ponders this, Sigurd realizes he isn't paying attention and the Jinkin in White tries to take advantage.
"Bah! I'm a bigger fan of romance." If he can keep Mo Douqiu talking, maybe the fool won't flee when he is finally attacked.
