It seems they did away with splash damage for the remaster.

It seems they did away with splash damage for the remaster.
At least for Player Core One.
I wouldn't be surprised if it showed back up with Alchemist in Player Core Two, however.

Vekka Tchakon |

Long day. Post incoming....

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Every bit helps!
I usually don't play tanky characters (and Champion is my usual go to) but I'm liking this Warpriest build. I'll fully rebuild him via the Remaster rules once we're at a good stopping point.

![]() |

I chose not to prepare much in the way of offensive spells for the first day, since Auntie Wu wouldn't have known there would be any threat. It's making her actions pretty darn repetitive, though.

DM rainzax |

To summarize what's happening next:
1) Meet Kim Gu-won, do some talking
2) This will be interrupted by an encounter (unbeknownst to the PCs at this time)
3) Then we will Long Rest and Downtime
=)

Vekka Tchakon |

Our endurance is going to be tested today. Thank goodness for refocus time. :)

Enough to keep you going for the next stretch!
Not actually tracking arrows quantitatively, just telling a story...
But if you need a number then: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5) = 11

I was very reluctant to partake in the challenge due to fear of failing the checks.
This is a bit metagamey, but at Level 1, it shouldn't be that big of a concern mathematically. Level based DC at Level 1 is 15, and often, for any check where the whole party is required to attempt, it is an Easy check, which is DC 13. Even untrained with a +0 modifier, you're mathematically justified in attempting the check most of the time.
The rule is nat 15. If you can hit the DC with a nat 15 or lower, on a standard Crit Success = +2, Success = +1, Failure = 0, Crit Failure = -1 scheme, you should attempt the check. If you need a nat 16 or higher, only then will a CF outweigh the probability of success.

DM rainzax |

Success is looking likely here, possibly critical success, depending on Wu's / Vekka's rolls.
Think of one (possibly two!) questions - what do you want to know about Mo Douqiu?

![]() |

Possible questions (rephrase as you please):
What does Mo Douqiu's whole body look like? (What type of person/creature is he?)
Where is Mo Douqiu?
How long has Mo Douqiu been around?
Who are the others who are scarier than Mo Douqiu? (Does he report to anyone?)
What are Mo Douqiu's goals regarding Willowshore?

DM rainzax |

1) What does Mo Douqiu's whole body look like? (What type of person/creature is he?)
2) Where is Mo Douqiu?
3) How long has Mo Douqiu been around?
4) Who are the others who are scarier than Mo Douqiu? (Does he report to anyone?)
5) What are Mo Douqiu's goals regarding Willowshore?
Fixed that for you.
If Vekka gets a Success, that will be a Critical Success plus two stars = 3 Questions.
Let's do this. For each Question, I'll double it, dividing between "story / description / motivation" and "tactical". All of Auntie Wu's questions are of the first type. Let's also brainstorm the second type. Ex: "Does he have any signature spells" or "Weaknesses?" etc
For each Question you score, I'll give you one of each, numerical and alphabetic.
a) Resistances?
b) Weaknesses?
c) Signature Spells?
d) Special Reactions?
e) Special Attacks?
So let's vote for both types - I will take a quick quorum of two unless you all out-post me!
I like 1, 3, and d, but I also want to add:
f) another question you think of

Kazuki Sato |

I like 1, 2, & e.
We'll know what creature type, where to find him, and what attacks to watch out for. I'm hoping we can ambush him.

DM rainzax |

Hero Point to Kolphan!
The rest of you hoard your Hero Points!

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

We have 5, I figured I'll keep 1 in reserve to prevent final death. The other ones I'll burn when I roll a 1 or I know I'm bound to miss.
I vote for
5 & b

Kazuki Sato |

Can we use any skill for "helping around camp"?
During this week of downtime, we're not allowed to go home?
Should I not worry about heading home and just make a downtime roll and level up? I won't have time to level up until tomorrow night or Saturday afternoon.
Then, we move on to part 3?

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

I'm guessing we get 1 night of rest, but a week worth of benefits.
I'll take this opportunity to fully rebuild Sigurd to the Remaster.

Kazuki Sato |

Now that we're at the Wealth by Level point, I'm a bit confused.
I do understand the 10% discount on items on the Loot Sheet.
Since I hit level 2, on table 10-10, do I get what's in the "Currency" box (20 gp) or the Lump Sum box (30 gp)?
The "Best Fit" section is what's confusing me the most.
This is not a free rebuild, instead, try to rollover an 80%-90% threshold of continuity between levels. This means to keep the majority of your most expensive items narratively consistent, upgrading or obtaining new items, perhaps “discovered” items along the way, with that last 20%-10% representing things you sell back, consumables you use or trade out, etc. This will be an Honor System enforcement, as I have zero intention of auditing individual characters’ treasure lists with a fine-toothed comb each and every level.
It might help me understand if you give an example.

The few hours of downtime earning a week's worth of value probably doesn't mean that we could squeeze other longer activities into that time, I presume. E.g., at some point when there is more time, Vekka will work on transferring the rune from the machete to his katana.

1) Yes, if your roleplay can justify it.
2) That is correct - and like Sigurd said, it's several hours in-game, but "one week" of benefit.3) Yes please, and that is fine.
4) Chapter Two, yes. By interacting with Granny Hu in her War Room!
5) You get to pick either the "Items plus Currency" or simply the "Lump Sum", whichever suits you best.
6) If you are not completely reshuffling all of your equipment, you should be fine. Keeping most of what you started with, upgrading an item or two, adding some new consumables or things you found along the way, all that is fine. Again, I'm not going to "do math" to make sure you hit a certain threshold. I'll probably just quickly look over your new equipment to see if anything is out of place. Try not to sweat it too much!

If your new equipment situation for Level Two can support it (either by itemizing with "Items plus Currency"" or paying full cost out of your "Lump Sum"), we'll say that somehow Vekka is able to get somebody to do that for him. You might even consider Earning Income using Crafting to tell that story!

Lan will be Retraining. I guess I've always managed to sneak in Ray of Frost in my PFS builds, or, maybe the maps are just a little bit more crowded. I found myself wishing for a longer range spell more often.
Do you want us to be using the Remastered spell list? I don't have the books, and I can't find them easily on Nethys, but I'd be happy to begin the transition if I can find a list somewhere.

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Do we make the skill checks before or after we level up?
>Current Build on Pathbuilder<
>Remaster Build<
So I see Nephilim Lineages are listed on page 79 of the Remaster book, before the level 1 Ancestry Feats. Does that mean I pick my Lineage for free, and then pick my level 1 Ancestry Feat? I can't tell since it's separately printed from the other level 1 feats. For now I'm assuming not.
I'm a Flexible Spellcaster, so my level 2 class feat is Flexible Spellcaster Dedication.
Spell swaps:
- Haunting Hymn -> Vitality Lash
- Magic Weapon -> Runic Weapon
At level 2, I get a new Rank 1 spell to my repertoire. I'll learn Command.
I don't think we have enough money for a +1 Potency rune (35g), so I'll hold off on that.

Yes, fully Remaster. Those of us with books can look them up for you.
Here is some errata too: LINK

I don't think the "Versatile Heritage counts as your 1st Level Ancestry Feat" has changed, so, I think that means you did that right. I'll double check this in a bit...

Kazuki Sato |

How do you find the Remaster stuff on Nethys? Has it already been factored in or is there an entire section of the Remaster changes?
I don't plan on getting the books. AoN is fine enough for me.

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

AoN pushed the Remaster changes back by 2 weeks, so expect the changes to hit by mid-December.
Pathbuilder pushed out their Remaster changes to the beta site, so you could use that to pick and choose rules.
GM, let me double check on Versatile Heritage rules... Page 75 doesn't say it's additional, only that I can choose it at 1st level. Sucks for my other Nephilim who wants a lineage feat AND Beastial Transformation (another "only at 1st level" feat), but she is Human.

I'll aim to get Auntie Wu leveled up and Remastered before Monday.
Regarding Hero Points: I've been hoarding mine because I don't know how the pacing is going to be. We have 5 HP for Book 1. How many chapters are in Book 1? Are they all about the same length?

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Update: Pathbuilder's Remaster changes are in >production now<. Remaster mode is ON by default.

Ho Lan |

If anyone else is using Pathbuilder on Android, for whatever reason, it's not showing up in the "Updates Available" list. If you go to the "All Applications" list and click on Pathbuilder 2e, you'll get the button to update.
In other news, I just updated my Pathbuilder, so I'll be updating Lan as soon as I can make sense of everything. He'll be officially my first Remastered character.

Four Chapters in Book One.

Ho Lan |

I'm semi-hoarding Lan's Hero Points. I kind of mentioned this in a spoiler, but I'm kind of hoping that something mildly bad happens to him as a way of motivating him to be a better person.
Also, Lan is updated except for items. Sorcerers don't need much, but I feel like he should have more stuff, even if it's just a set of fine clothes or something.

DM rainzax |

Kolphan,
It looks like you are Converting, not Retraining (unless I am mistaken), so that means you can use your Downtime to Earn Income.
Everyone,
I'm going to stick to the PFS ruling for excluding the use of Hero Points for Earn Income during Downtime specifically.
Several folks have already rolled. Go ahead and turn that into an amount of Gold using the Earn Income table (use "Per Day" then multiply by 7), and input that into the "Downtime and Wealth Tracker" in my DM Alias (Yellow on the Tracker). (I have already converted Sato's "14 silver" into "1.4 gold" as an example).
The Sum, at the bottom (in Green), will be the amount of cash you add to your standard Wealth by Level.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Kazuki Sato |

How much cash do we get at 2nd level? I'm hoping to purchase a +1 longbow & some other items if I have enough money.
Any suggestions for an agile & finesse melee weapon, or is wakizashi decent enough?
I'm leveled up except for purchases.

DM rainzax |

How much cash do we get at 2nd level?
The "Wealth by Level" Houserules will refer you to a table (10-10), which has you choose to either "Itemize" your Wealth or take a "Lump Sum".
Your 1.4 earned Downtime cash will be added onto that, whichever choice you make for Level Two.

Vekka Tchakon |

I'm waffling on Vekka's feat choice for level 2, but I'll finalize today and update his profile.
I don't see the need to retrain anything about him at this moment.

If you need a suggestion, I can recommend Spell Parry to help shore up your defenses.
Also, this won't be the only time you get Downtime during this Book, so there will be future options to Retrain as well.
With nobody Retraining it looks like (awaiting to see what Han does), that just means that you all seem to like your characters so far.
=)

Right, so the magic weapons we found disappear per
Also seperate from Table 10-10, again similar to how PFS functions, any discovered loot (including consumables) may be used normally by the party through the course of adventuring. Then, when it comes time for Character Advancement, that loot will “disappear”,
Meaning I should probably stop worrying about transferring specific runes and such (thought something like that may end up being flavor in how he arrives at his final gear setup).

Vekka Tchakon |

If you need a suggestion, I can recommend Spell Parry to help shore up your defenses.
I don't, I have choices (like that, and expansive spellstrike) for magus in mind versus multi-classing into wizard to greatly expand his choice and play into his exploration of Nethys at Jubei's shop.
I just have to commit one way or another today :)

Bit of a meta question, after you posted reputation updates there:
Does gaining too much reputation with South or North damage the reputation with other? I.e., perceptions of "favorites" or "favoritism"?

Hmm, that doesn't make any sense story-wise, which displeases me.
Ok, I'll pivot and add the following to Party Wealth by consulting 10-9 "Party Treasure by Level" which at Level One allocates two 2nd Level Permanent Items. Let's let those be the two 2nd Level Permanent Items you did in fact recover:
➤ Machete of Potency
➤ Gurlgegut's Kukri of Potency
So, you have your individual Wealth, and the Party has the two items above to share on top.
And, I think for now, Etching a rune (to transfer it) looks like it will have to wait, as it takes an entire day, so perhaps at the next Level Up / Downtime we can get to that.
Let me know if this seems fair, and if so, go ahead and decide who gets the Machete and Kukri.
=)

Speaking of "favoritism", let me know when you are all ready to run the Influence encounter with Granny Hu - I will kick us off after everyone is finished with:
➤ Downtime
➤ Leveling Up
➤ Equipment
➤ Including distribution of the Party Equipment (Machete and Kukri)
➤ Daily Preparations

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Do I level up before or after meeting Granny Hu?
Sigurd will pass on both the Machete and Kukri. Fine as they are, Shizuru favors the katana.

DM rainzax |

Granny Hu is last.
If you want to save your Daily Preparations (Preparing Spells) until after meeting with her (and thus, having some idea of what tasks the party chooses to tackle first), I'm cool with that.
=)

![]() |

I chose to do the Lump Sum for wealth when I leveled up. That process is finished, but putting it into BB code will take a bit. Auntie Wu doesn't care to bother with weapons, so she won't take the machete or kukri.
I'd like to wait to select her spells until after the meeting with Granny Hu.
