@Sato,
Do you have the text for hunted shot? Also for gravity weapon?
I'll remind you that this is the same round you felled the tree with hunted shot.
Auntie Wu
|
Auntie Wu agreed to check out the Mushroom House first. Then she wants to check on her son's family in Southside (and stop by her house to pick up heirlooms, tea, and smokes, if possible).
Of course, Mo Douqiu and the shrines are vitally important to handle too, and she's aware of the likelihood of there being immediate, essential tasks that could cause the group to stay in Southside for a while once they get there. She could be prevailed upon to take care of Mo Douqiu and the shrines before heading to Southside, provided she receives sufficient assurance that she won't be pressured to tackle another essential task (and another, and another) after that.

Whoops. Let's just say all of Kazuki's shots went towards Red tree then, and he pulled back next to Auntie.
He fired arrows so quickly that he didn't realize he took down the Red tree on the first shot.
DM rainzax
@Sato
Negative - the dice have hit the table, so I am going to hold you to what you rolled.
Meaning: Hunted Shot (kill), Hunt Prey (new target), Strike (miss).
What did you find about Gravity Weapon?
@Party
One more vote for Mushroom House and I will prep it. Gunna use a simple majority here.
Kazuki Sato
Gravity weapon adds an amount of damage equal to twice the damage dice. Link is in my profile.
Ok. So no hunt prey. Just two normal shots against blue.
DM rainzax
Sato,
I consider changing your actions after knowing their die result to be a misuse of the RNG to determine outcome. I'm keeping your declared actions unchanged. Namely:
Hunted Shot (kill), Hunt Prey (new target), Strike (miss).
Also:
Gravity weapon adds an amount of damage equal to twice the damage dice. Link is in my profile.
Q) Are there any limitations to this damage?

Ok. I didn't understand what you were saying in regards to keeping my dice rolls. I thought you didn't allow me switching Hunted Prey during a turn.
In regards to limitations to gravity weapon damage...
Dammit. Only on the first strike. Sorry.
(I'm really disliking 2e the more I play.)
Edit: I'm still stuck on PF1e rules.
Ho Lan
I'll toss in the deciding vote for Mushroom House.

Not going to get dragged into a 1st vs 2nd edition comparison through the back door, please and thank you!
When I play, I personally re-read every ability I have right before I use it (or try to), and find that doing so allows me to play my character strategically by having a solid handle on the mechanics.
=)
DM rainzax
@Sigurd,
You may need to get a Capacity weapon if you want to reload while your other hand is occupied.
Meaning you still have one action left, and may want to stow your shield if you are looking into reloading your crossbow.

I'll be traveling all day tomorrow. I'm going to Phoenix for a few weeks to take care of my elderly mom who fell and broke her arm. It shouldn't disrupt my posting at all. I'll have plenty of downtime while I'm out there.

With roll4initiative travelling tomorrow, let me pull out my Bot Tree:
Auntie Wu
Kolphan
Lan
☀Sato
Vekka
Looks like Lan and/or Vekka are slated to Bot you in your absence. If you get a chance, some botting instructions in your profile would help facilitate that!
(EDIT: I see they are "under construction")
Best to your elderly mom's recovery!
Kazuki Sato
Getting ready to post. I have 45 minutes until my plane boards. ;)
Edit: Posted! I hope I got everything correct. Frightened, no volley for being more than 30' away, & gravity bow damage on first strike.
DM rainzax
Since your first shot missed, I added the +2 gravity damage to your second shot (which was just the difference needed to fell it) - unsure how to slate in that conditional to the dice expressions without ooc-wall-of-texting... will give it some thought...
DM rainzax
@Kolphan,
I’m going to treat your strikes as a readied action to strike (with a trigger of “it attacks me from afar using it’s superior reach”), given that it is only hitting you because of its reach.
While it has one of you grabbed, I’ll rule you can strike at it from a square that is adjacent to the grabbed person, but that it benefits from soft cover (+1 to AC) if you do so.
It has simply failed so far to grab you all, we haven’t really had that situation yet.
Kazuki Sato
Kazuki is 40' away from the orange tree. I thought their spore range was only 30'.
Also, Kazuki's max hit points is 30.

Fixed!
Kazuki Sato
I don't see anything about a lock jamming on a crit fail.
Critical Failure: You break your tools. Fixing them requires using Crafting to Repair them or else swapping in replacement picks (costing 3 sp, or 3 gp for infiltrator thieves’ tools).
Also, since hit points were wrong at 22/26, shouldn't I be at 26/30, not 22/30?
DM rainzax
Four tiers of success is a flexible system. There are no bamboo cages in any rulebook either.
=)
I will fix your HPs on the next pass!
Vekka Tchakon
FYI, I'm out all day tomorrow but back for the rest of the long weekend. Since it's the weekend I don't expect this to be disruptive.
DM rainzax
Looks like all but one of us can ask a question. Sigurd is willing to skip his if all of you have something to ask.
Granny Hu's skills as a manipulator astound him. Peng's relationship to her is not by blood. Nothing wrong with that but they seemed so... related. What leverage would she have over an outstanding constable?
These "questions" are actually more like meta-questions. You are free to ask "out-of-character" questions about Granny Hu whose "answers" would be arrived at by putting clues together based on your talk with the Bamboo Boys - you are not necessarily bound to things they would "know" per se.
And as a freebie: Zheng Peng is actually Granny Hu's nephew - it is basically why he is captain!
Kazuki Sato
I actually can't think of any questions to ask yet. I'll see what others ask and maybe it will help me to think of what to ask.
With two crit successes against the Bamboo Boys, I'm really surprised that they are indifferent towards Sato.
DM rainzax
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Sato is not personable - you rolled critical successes using Thievery after all - I am making sense of this by allowing Sato to understand their world in such a way that it'll give him insight into their entanglement with Granny Hu with much greater detail.
In general, with the dice having decided the "what", you are invited to create the "why" of it. For example, maybe while they respect your skill, they see you as competition, thus the one "negating" the other. Or perhaps, they don't like your attitude, but are afraid of making you upset.
=)
DM rainzax
Time for another Hero Point - going to die roll between our biggest spenders:
Auntie Wu or Kolphan?: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Kolphan now (☘️☑☑☑☑☑□□/□) which means two (2) "normal" hero points and one (1) campaign coin
Kazuki Sato
That's awesome about my relationship with the Bamboo Boys. Great for roleplaying!
In regards to Kazuki's Terrain Expertise feat, is the town of Willowshore considered forest terrain? I don't see "urban" or the like listed in the terrain choices for the feat.
DM rainzax
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Looking at the map, I think more Downtowny locations are effectively without terrain, but the more Outskirty ones could be considered foresty. Gunna take it location by location.
Auntie Wu
|
Which questions to ask the Bamboo Boys? ...
1) What unusual things have you noticed since the Festival ended?
2) How many bird-mounted troublemakers have you seen around here? How many left? Do you think they intend to return?
3) Do you know of any other nasty things we might find around here (this compound) before we leave?
4) Did you hear or notice anything off in the direction of the governor's missing manor? If so, when? (Trying to pin down when it disappeared and how.)
5) Where are you going to go now? What will you do?
6) Did Constable Zheng or any of his officers try to make any deals with you? Or talk to you at all (aside from bare minimum orders and standard insults)?
7) How loyal are the officers to Zheng Peng?
Thoughts?
Now I'm wondering if the grandchildren at the Mushroom House are actually her grandchildren.
Kazuki Sato
Questions 1, 4, & 6 are awesome. I'm for those the most.
DM rainzax
The following two questions are highest interest:
1) What unusual things have you noticed since the Festival ended?
4) Did you hear or notice anything off in the direction of the governor's missing manor? If so, when? (Trying to pin down when it disappeared and how.)
Those will be answered shortly.
How about we vote to eliminate one of the following:
5) Where are you going to go now? What will you do?
6) Did Constable Zheng or any of his officers try to make any deals with you? Or talk to you at all (aside from bare minimum orders and standard insults)?
7) How loyal are the officers to Zheng Peng?
Cast your elimination vote!
Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost
I eliminate... 7. Sigurd would assume Peng's officers are loyal. How else could he have earned their trust to be named Captain?
Auntie Wu
|
And Auntie Wu would counter that Granny Hu named him captain, regardless of anyone else's opinion. ;)
I vote to eliminate 5. They probably would answer with partial truths at best, and they may assume to just fly by the seat of their pants for a while. I doubt we'll get much useful stuff out of them with that one.
DM rainzax
I sure could use a hero point."
Sato (☘️☑□□□□/□)
You have 4 of them, plus 1 campaign coin.
=)
Kazuki Sato
What does the campaign coin do? I completely forgot if we were told their function before.
DM rainzax
1 person marked this as a favorite.
It's a "super" hero point, because you can give it away to use on someone else in your party.
I took the idea from PFS.
You earned them for doing "HW" when we very first started!
DM rainzax
Still awaiting an elimination vote upthread - quorum of two decides it.
Meanwhile, while you deal with the freed kids, what part of Willowshore should I prepare next?
I know the party had discussed the following options next:
1) Go to Mushroom House (errand to curry favor w/ Granny Hu)
2) Track down Mo Douqiu at Cerulean Tea House
3) Visit known Shrines to obtain Blessed Coins
4) Scope the Governor's "Missing" Estate
5) Go fetch one of the party's Heirlooms
6) ???
Kazuki Sato
I'll agree with Auntie and choose to eliminate #5.
As for what to do next, I choose Going to get someone's heirloom. I don't think I need mine yet, so if someone else has an important/useful item, let's go get it.
Vekka Tchakon
As stated, was out most all of yesterday. Dropped off from exhaustion before I could catch up. Doing so now!
"The bird" has mixed feelings about a favor from the bamboo boys.
Vekka will quietly acquiesce to eliminate #5... but given that his mind has a community focus he will keep his ear to the ground for what they do next, and what impact they have on the town.
DM rainzax
One vote for Mother's Coil.
Good to start thinking about the next-next location too!
1) What unusual things have you noticed since the Festival ended?
4) Did you hear or notice anything off in the direction of the governor's missing manor? If so, when? (Trying to pin down when it disappeared and how.)
5) Where are you going to go now? What will you do?
6) Did Constable Zheng or any of his officers try to make any deals with you? Or talk to you at all (aside from bare minimum orders and standard insults)?
7) How loyal are the officers to Zheng Peng?
I will work the answer to these in when I get a chance!
Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost
Vekka had a request for Mother's Coil. I'll join them.
We should prepare to examine the southern side of town. Sigurd would like to see his home again.
Auntie Wu
|
Auntie Wu wants to get to southside asap so she can check on her son's family (and grab her stash). She'll acquiesce to another errand before then, but she's getting antsy, especially since Granny Hu's "grandchildren" weren't actually her kin. (Cheating ol' scumbag!)
DM rainzax
Mother's Coil then.
After that, we'll discuss where next.
Strong push for South, I see.
Settlement
