Looks like that worked! Post appeared right away.

Vekka, just to be clear, your order of saves are:
Fortitude
Reflex (then Fortitude if fail)
Reflex (then Fortitude if fail)
After this you will Kolphan's healing.

Vekka Tchakon |

Yup, just drained two in my catch-up all-the-saving-throws everything-must-go post :D

DM rainzax |

Vekka,
I see you are consistently forgetting to apply your conditional modifiers.
May I ask that you use your character's "Active Conditions" status bar to remind yourself?
Or do you have another solution?
=)

I'm noticing a difference in the names some players use to identify their characters vs. what others and the GM use, which confuses me sometimes. For the sake of clarity, what does everyone want their PCs to be called?
Me: Auntie Wu

Kazuki Sato |

I very much prefer Kazuki. I didn't know about using last name as first in the beginning. So, yeah. Kazuki.

DM rainzax |

I'll use whatever people post, and fix it in my DM Alias.
Since I use alphabetization, it'll change your position in the Bot Tree, but no biggie.
=)

DM rainzax |

Fatigued
You're tired and can't summon much energy. You take a –1 status penalty to AC and saving throws. You can't use exploration activities performed while traveling. You recover from fatigue after a full night's rest.
=)

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

I keep forgetting about Fatigued, and the one time I remember it isn't applicable!
You can call me Darius, as he is trying to be friendly and a pillar of the community.

DM rainzax |

Wait I thought Darius was your kid brother!

Kazuki Sato |

Wait I thought Darius was your kid brother!
That confused me too. Sigurd kept referring to himself as Darius, but Darius is the name of his little brother.

DM rainzax |

Sigh...
Feelin' like I missed something here...
...is Darius old or young? Did I mess up?
=)

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

From oldest to youngest: Sigurd, Sheela, Darius. Sigurd and Sheela are both adults at this point. Darius is younger.
I uh... confused myself with my own NPCs.

Vekka Tchakon |

Yeah, I'll put them in his status bar.

I'll try to make a permanent space in my Encounter Tracker for Condition Links - I know how it gets juggling multiple characters across multiple games - sometimes a quick reminder goes a long way!

The Party has earned sufficient XP to advance to Level Three!
Do not make changes yet - like last time, changes are effective as of taking a Long Rest - whether here or at another location - but go ahead and start making your plan!

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Definitely getting Fleet as my general feat. Heavy Armor really slows you down. I miss my 25 feet speed.

Ho Lan |

Resting at Auntie Wu's (and not a more Well-Defended Location like Granny Hu's or Old Matsuki's), is risky
Would our characters recognize that? To our players, it sounds like - especially since we were headed to Matsuki's next - it would be better to risk the journey there than 5 encounters overnight. But, wouldn't our characters (especially Auntie Wu) feel more secure at her house?

DM rainzax |

The "Random Encounters" (and, why I am having you roll Sense Direction to navigate your own home town) are because Willowshore is essentially under siege!
And yes, you characters recognize the risk.
Does that answer your question?

DM rainzax |

Awaiting party quorum to move forward!

Can you mention in your next post that at some point the group stopped by Qi's house and Auntie Wu is reasonably assured that her son and his family are weathering this well enough? Thanks!
Regarding Auntie Wu's stash of "special" tea and smokes: I didn't account for that in her inventory before, so I'll be sure to pay for those items when we level up.

![]() |

Question about drugs: In looking at the options on 2e.aonprd, there doesn't seem to be a perfect match for what I had in mind for Auntie Wu's special tea. Can I use the Bloodeye Coffee stats and say it's a special tea blend from Luda Bama?

DM rainzax |

I had assumed the party was headed to Matsuki Estate.
Gotta get folks on board to make another stop - there are no "freebies"!

Sounds good to me!
What do you think is a fair number of doses cups?
Also, if you want to just "roleplay" your addiction, instead of using hard mechanics, that's fine by me too.

DM rainzax |

Sorry for the mistake in Gameplay - nice catch roll4initiative - unfortunately I will repay your honesty in pain! - the Haunt will go first, as adding back in +4 to Sigurd's initiative won't bump it high enough, and adding -4 to your initiative puts you in line after it...
Edit: On second thought, go ahead and take your turn Kazuki!

Auntie Wu has been very insistent about checking on Qi and his family for a while now. I've mentioned it multiple times, but more frequently in Discussion than in Gameplay. Perhaps that's why it slipped notice. Looks like no one else voted to check on them when we were deciding where to go next. I think the easiest way to address this now is to have her assume that Matzuki Estate is where she thinks Qi's family would go in an emergency, so she'll look for them there first. If they're not there, she'll insist on checking their home.
Regarding addiction: yes, I would like to play without using the hard mechanics. Thanks! My vision of her was that of someone whose competence isn't affected by it, which is why she thinks there's no harm in it. The dice won't always play nice with that idea. I'll keep one unit of each thing in her inventory to represent it.

DM rainzax |

GM, does Lan get to go in Round 1 (essentially getting a "surprise" round as in PF1, or did him acting essentially mean he got to go first in Round 1?
I think I have answered your question?
Touch and go today, my posts should have been consecutive, short on time.

Hard to read tone, unsure if you are upset, or just trying to roleplay Auntie Wu's concern appropriately given her circumstances...
This stage of the AP plays like an interactive sandbox. Since we can't gather a consensus in quite the same way as if we were at a live table, I am using the "quorum of two" mechanism for moving the party together to single locations. 5 players times 30ish+ locations is a lot of choice, I realize, and sometimes (often?) folks' personal missions will have to take side stage to the decisions rendered using "quorum of two".
If you survive the encounter, I am currently preparing Matsuki Estate next - where we go after that will again be decided using the "quorum of two" mechanism.
=)

I'm not upset, just trying to play Auntie Wu faithfully.

You demolish the target’s corrupted essence with energy from Creation’s Forge. You deal 2d6 vitality damage with a basic Fortitude save. If the creature critically fails the save, it is also enfeebled 1 until the start of your next turn.
Heightened (+1) The damage increases by 1d6.
Haunts are diverse, and this should work some of the time - probably reliably against anything that mentions "spirits" - in general, I'll probably give this info out on a successful RK check.

General feat: Assurance (Medicine)
Skill Increase: Medicine to Expert
With Assurance and a +11 to Medicine, Auntie Wu can heal 2d8 + 10 without rolling.
No major purchases. I took the Lump Sum and basically kept the gear I had before. Now she has her special tea and flayleaf. Woo.

Don't forget your Heirloom!

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Oh right, purchases!
Can I purchase an +1 attack potency rune for my katana?
Also, Sigurd is trained in Martial Weapons. He'll keep an eye out for a shortbow and a glaive in the future.

DM rainzax |

Pick between Itemized or Lump Sum!

Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |

Itemized it is. I'd like to take these, if possible:
2nd: +1 attack potency rune on my katana (let's say it's a remnant from Shizuru's blessing)
1st: Glow Rod (Player Core Page 293, looks like the Remaster replacement for >Sunrod<, >Holy Water<

D'oh! I forgot that it's just the proficiency bonus (so I'd get a 14 on a DC 15 roll). That's less useful than I thought it would be. I'll switch it out for Robust Recovery.
Her heirloom was a writing kit and two minor healing potions. I assumed we don't need to pay for those.

Ho Lan |

I'd get a 14 on a DC 15 roll
You should get 10+Trained+Level, or 10+2+3 = 15.
---
Lan is leveled up. He has picked up a pearly white spindle aeon stone, but won't realize what it is until he is healed by it for the first time. With the GM's permission, I'd also like for it to weakly detect as evil, as it was a gift from Fumeiyoshi and serves a selfish purpose (it heals him out of combat when he is able to heal everyone else with the rejuvenating flames). At some point in the future, Lan will exchange it out (probably at a level up).

DM rainzax |

GM is game, Lan.
Auntie Wu - you are correct - Heirlooms do not need to be payed for - after you get your equipment, go ahead and add any Heirlooms to your accumulated Wealth (Itemized or Lump) for now. Also, add any Earn Income from the little Downtime you have been granted (see Downtime Spreadsheet in Campaign Header). Don't forget to take 10% off any "purchases" from items discovered "in game" (see Loot Sheet in Campaign Header). Let me know if there are any remaining questions?
Also Auntie Wu, Lan is right - 3rd level is perfect for Assurance w/ Medicine. Up to you.
Gunna move us along shortly to meet Old Matsuki.
I'll give you all the weekend to level up. Kazuki, if you need to roll a Skill Check before fully leveling up, just add +1 to the roll. Or! +3 if that is the one skill you will advance to Expert! (Little fast-easy math before digging in).

We have been gaming for about four months together now! I'd like to take an opportunity for feedback here as we move into the second half of Book One! Feel free to engage or ignore this request, to express yourself publicly or privately (in Discussion or through PM), and to utilize or reframe yourself the following prompts. I will again link the "PbP Expectations" to help anchor any feedback as well.
0) Are you having fun?
1) What is one thing that GM does that helps you?
2) What is one thing you wish GM did that would help you?
3) What is one thing that other PCs do that helps you?
4) What is one thing you wish other PCs did that would help you?

The team is great, I get to try out Warpriests, and I feel like there's a great narrative going on. I'm loving the team dynamics.

Okay, I'll stick with Assurance (Medicine) then. I bumped it up to Expert, so that'll be 10 + 4 + 3 = 17. The explanation of that feat sure is unclear.
I'll get her downtime done later this weekend.
-------------------
0) Are you having fun? Yup, sure am!
1) What is one thing that GM does that helps you? Organization and documentation. I forget things a lot, but knowing I can find it and where to look helps.
2) What is one thing you wish GM did that would help you? I feel like we're rushing. I often have time to post twice on a weekday, but not everyone does. It's daunting to face a massive wall of lots of posts when you log on, and can cause player fatigue. To be fair, this pace is better than going too slow. Perhaps wait until everyone is ready before moving us along.
3) What is one thing that other PCs do that helps you? Lan's healing flames--what a great ability! I wish Auntie Wu had that too.
4) What is one thing you wish other PCs did that would help you? We could all try harder to have conversations with each other. Right now it seems like we're mostly on parallel paths and aren't taking/being given much time to chat with each other. Of course, that's harder to do in PbP without dragging out the game and forgetting what's going on.
5) Are you open to feedback yourself? Yes, please.
~) Anything else? I like how varied our team is and I want to explore why they're continuing to stick together. Are they going to end up as good friends even after all this? Or is this just a convenient business-type relationship?

• Ancestry Paragon @ 3rd: Natural Skill (Religion & Willowshore Lore).
• General Feat (shield block)
• Iron Will (class feature)
• Skill Increase (expert in Survival)
• Bkg Lore Prof. Increase @3rd (Hunting Lore)

• Other Purchases:
holy water x2, feather token ladder (discounted to 27 sp), minor healing potion, lesser healing potion.
Total coins: 14 gp, 12 sp, 3 cp
When browsing items on AoN, I noticed items called "Fulus" that are marked rare and are from Season of Ghosts. Are we allowed to purchase these, and if so, what is their rarity if we're playing Season of Ghosts?
