Thank you, Ridge, I appreciate that. I'm in some good games right now so you don't need to play a sad violin solo for me. :D I was mostly looking forward to playing with Salsa again and mixing it up with some of the interesting characters you guys have ginned up.

Like I said, this was not an easy decision. There were a lot of good characters here, including stormraven's and rainbow33's.
And there will be a next game. I'm not sure what I'll be running after this, a homebrew adventure, Dragon's Demand, or maybe, if I'm feeling ambitious, Rise of the Runelords.

Hi Bigfolks. Let me explain the general process and some things every hopeful player should do.
First, read the DM's instructions carefully. They will generally tell you what you need to know... do you need to build a full character? Pitch a concept? What are the due dates? How is the DM deciding who gets in the game?
Second, read the entire recruitment thread, paying the most attention to the DM's follow-up posts. Other players may have the same questions you do (if the DM forgot some instructions). The DM's follow-on posts are likely to answer those questions.
Related to all that... in this thread Salsa (the DM) listed the 'build criteria' for characters. The players created characters they thought would be fun to play and that fit the DM's criteria. That's a very important point if you want to get in a game.
Salsa then listed out who had complete applications and who needed to provide more info. The recruitment was closed on Wednesday night (per Salsa's stated due date). Anyone who hadn't completed their application by that time was 'out'. Salsa made his final cut (deciding which players/characters are in the game) yesterday.
Most recruitments run in this manner. Some games are 'first come, first served' but most will require you to build and submit a character by a specified date. It is a competitive process where there will be more player/characters than 'spots' in the game. The DM decides how many people and who he will take into the game.

Pretty much as stormraven said. Most threads should have a deadline listed or will state when they are ending recruitment somewhere in the thread. Unfortunately for this one, Recruitment ended and players were selected earlier this week. However, keep an eye on the recruitment thread for games that are opening up. The first post will typically have a list of criteria that they want potential characters to meet. The only exceptions I've really seen are interest threads that turn into recruitment threads.
Again, sorry, but this one ended Wednesday. Trust me, I know the feeling of seeing a game that looks really interesting and finding out that you missed the deadline. I wish you luck and happy gaming.
