After about two hours of deciphering the runes, they find the translation to be:

Continuing their mission, the group goes deeper into the tunnels. Shortly after, they find themselves in a short corridor that opens into a large room. The walls are painted with a fire motif. At the back of the room stands a large altar made of obsidian. Collapsed in front of the altar is a desiccated figure, its arm outstretched toward the large stone finger, also made of obsidian, prominently placed atop the altar. The desiccated figure’s hand is severed at the wrist and still grasps the black stone finger.
The room is empty save for the altar and the body. The altar and finger are made of obsidian, though how volcanic glass wound up in Iobaria is a mystery. At the base of the altar is a large body, clearly long dead and dried into a mummified state. The body is outstretched toward the obsidian finger, its arm ending in a stump, its severed hand still grasping the stone. Though the altar would be a comfortable height for a cyclops, a Medium creature is barely able to see over the edge. Small creatures would need to use a ladder to be able to reach the stone finger lying atop it.

Voron finally detects the foul energy but it is too late to warn them! Both the desiccated hand on the altar and the desiccated figure on the floor begins moving!

Graeyson gets out of the way and bring the poppet down. Razzm comes into the scene and attacks the hand with his shield, both connecting. Hand takes 12 total damage. Desmond quickly patches Graeyson after he retreats, and then raises his shield after moving close to enemies. Voron keeps his distance and lances a positive energy to the zombie.
It misses to evades and takes much of the damage. Brown takes 16 total damage, weakness included. Mafalda sends an arrow with morphed claw but she misses to hit. Mafalda successfully recalls that these are undead that have negative healing, wherein the Zombie (Brown) has weakness in slashing and positive damage.

Graeyson calls upon the power of gravity into his weapon and successfully tumbles through the zombie Brown to flank. He then slashes the zombie, its head rolling over the floor with a thud. Since I only had 25 hp remaining when the hand hit me, I don't think letting the shield get destroyed will help Razzm at all (and my understanding - but correct me if I'm wrong - is that this isn't considered metagaming in 2e, but just part of the decision process about when/if to use reactions) so I'll just take all the damage myself, putting Razzm down and at Dying 2 (because it was a crit) but leaving my shield intact.

Desmond heals Razzm back from dying before sending flurry of blows that both miss and raising shield. Mafalda recharges and sends arrow imbued with magic to Hand, hitting the undead.
