I'm very glad folks like the song!

We appear to have POSSIBLY finally beaten our plumbing /sewer line problem at home so I maybe able to focus more soon. Been a heck of a week/month.

I hate plumbing problems. Several years back the kitchen sink started draining slower and when the dishwasher drained it would back up into the sink before draining away. It's a double sink so I struggled to plug one while using a plunger to force whatever was plugging it up and down to pull it apart. It seemed like it cleared so all was good, for about 2 weeks. Then it started again and I 'cleared' it again. Another two week and I finally pulled the trap off of the bottom of the sinks. Figured I'd get a snake and see if I could clear whatever it was without the expense of a professional plumber.

The drain past the trap flowed freely so I examined the trap and found a metal wire, actually a meat skewer, stuck in the trap. It had been forced down but couldn't flex enough to get past the bend of the trap and it got stuck. A thin wire doesn't stop water from flowing, but it did catch debris. And that debris would catch more.... Hence the 2 weeks until the problem was back. Not all that hard of a plumbing problem really, but it destroyed half of a Saturday for me.

Had a sewer line problem too, (tree roots in the pipe) but that killed a whole weekend, was disgusting, and I had to fill in all the holes I dug in the front yard to pull and replace that sewer line. I'm not remotely physically capable of ever doing that again!

I'm also for selling it. We're probably not going to get a better price on it without looking for a collector of Thassilonian artefacts and while that can be fun, I think that might take us rather far afield of what the AP has in mind.

Can I use diplomacy to try and lower the cost? Not that that roll would do it.

And you rejoined just before they got to the place on the map (which is linked at the top).

I stacked the tokens on the map in the order listed above, slotting Zorlen in the rear. You can adjust as you see fit over time.

The way I understand it is that the ACP applies if the character is actively wielding the shield. Basically, if you get the Shield bonus to AC, you also get the ACP to skills. She does have the shield, but she isn't currently wielding it, so I didn't count it.

The Dancing Lights cast as a man-shaped figure is primarily just to light up the room for those that don't have dark vision. If it works at all as a distraction.... pure luck!

I am going over your character sheet. I think you might be able to add a few more spells to your spellbook for 2nd level.

I am not sure how to manage your school and opposition schools. The Thassilonian Specialist who chooses Transmutation must have illusion and enchantment as its opposition schools, but you list enchantment and necromancy. If illusion is one of your oppositions, the Ghost Sound cantrip is not something you can carry with the rest of your prepared spell load.

Also the Pact Wizard must have a familiar as its Arcane Bond, but you have a ring.

Help my understand as best you can.

Yeah, I forgot to add the spells for the 2nd level. As for your questions:

Forbidden Schools: I picked up the New Thassilonian Magic feat at 1st level. It lets me pick one of the schools (so Necromancy instead of Illusion)

Arcane Bond: There are actually two completely different Pact Wizard archetypes, the one I'm using does not have a limitation on the arcane bond: Pact Wizard

Also, please excuse my mistake, but the sinspawn are mildly resistant to magic (SR13) and also immune to mind-affecting spells. Let's assume Zorlen is better informed than I am, and he agrees with Ari rather than debating him...Sorry for any confusion.

I figured that Ari didn't know specifics. Just that he'd read they were resistant to magic. Plus, he thought it was just the bite that caused the confusion. Knowledge about creatures that haven't been seen in centuries would mostly be myth and legends.

Just FYI, I am traveling this weekend, starting tomorrow afternoon through Monday evening. Will attempt to post during that time, but it maybe slower than usual. Likely the last trip of the summer.


I will give Zorlen till tomorrow to post before moving on with the round, but if he does not post, I will just auto DM-PC him until his player actually appears so it doesn't slow us down anymore.


With the rest of the sinspawn dead, this encounter becomes an impasse of trying to hit a very hard to hit target that also has fast healing and resistances to many things etc. With the ability to fly and become invisible at will, she is going to be extraordinarily hard to bring down without thoughtful tactics. It will be very hard for you to win a war of attrition...

Since combats in PBP are a long slog anyway, I wonder if you have any exotic or unusual tactics to throw her way, and we can just resolve those now without dragging this out for weeks.

If you don't have any successful ideas on how to resolve this fight, do you want to just cut to the chase of endgame for that, or do you want to slug it out for a while first?

Once I get back I was going to declare a smite. that will solve the bypassing of DR. The hard part is her invisibility but every time she attacks that's a round we can use to attack her. I'm fine with slugging it out but I'll go with what others want. I did run away after all.

With fast healing, invisibility, and flying, it can disappear and heal if it gets hurt bad but isn’t killed. We might want to consider leaving and trying to seal the door….

I think we could take her, but we'll be in pretty rough shape afterwards. The main thing is getting her cornered where she can't cast or get away easily.
