Cavaler Traleth |
Cavaler, strides into the arena wearing a jaunty set of elven designed freebooter armor. The armor is as stylish as it is protective, adorned with traditional elven runes and sigils. He refrains from donning his helm yet so that his flawless features and perfect hair can be displayed to the Pact Worlds live audience. Waving to the crowd, he turns and smiles at the camera.

Once you have entered the doors open at the other end of the arena.
One of this season’s favorites, the underdogs that have clawed their way back from the grave to survive every battle so far! Sponsored by Blackwind Engineering.... Death and Despair! Led by Yillith and Yetsin Genvurion, twin bone troop elebrians with a flair for fear! This team is rounded out by an ever-changing lineup of undead known only by their team name: Fodder. Every match is a chance for these two lucky Elebrians to work off the cost of their undead resurrection!
So ... it's Starfinders versus Undead. Lets see how much life there is in them - or will it be them that will need undead resurrection.
As the bell rings to signify the start of combat, the arena area shifts to low gravity mode.
Low-gravity worlds are liberating to most species acclimated to standard-gravity worlds. Such characters’ muscles are far more effective than normal. On a low-gravity world, where the gravity is no greater than a third of standard gravity, PCs can jump three times as high and as far and lift three times as much. (Movement speed, however, stays the same, as moving in great bounds is awkward and difficult to control.) Thrown weapons have their range categories tripled.

Gunnz |
Did we get merciful fusions for our weapons, or is lethal combat allowed here?
Mizix |
Ah, somehow saw the arena entrance post, but missed the action starting. Whoops!
As the battle begins, Mizix curses the size of the arena as she advances towards the undead across from them., drawing her pistol as she goes just in case.

No merciful fusions .... this is Zo! Entertainments after all

Indeed yes - Gunnz knows how to use her gun
Ooooh - Cavaler just misses by THAT much. but .. is Fodder turning into a bright spark?
I think that was more than that much .. more like that much more
((Fodder: -17, Yilith: -11)) I don't think undead bleed
Yillith also does something with their weapon. Fodder modes up and takes a shot at Kat5e.

A mighty shot. Yillith looks a bit stunned
And angry. What's he going to about that?
It looks like Kat5e is taking a beating. Presumably they going to take them down, one by one

Hey, ignore her. Focus on me Mizix says as she advnaces towards the closest undead Fodder? and strieks at it.

Cavaler Traleth |
Cavaler, moves gracefully across the stadium floor. As he does so he takes a hand off his crossbolter and draws a small figurine from a pouch attached to his utility belt. He speaks a command word in ancient elven and a Dromaeosaurid materializes into reality behind Fodder in perfect flanking position. It immediately roars and attacks the eoxian with its razor sharp claws.

Looks like the Starfinders have decided to take Fodder out of the picture. ((Fodder:-50))
And oh my. There's a Dinosaur in the ring. Do we know what species is that?
No idea. Get a closeup on it. It's really ripping into Fodder. Looks like the Starfinders are turning this battle up to Eleven.
And listen to the crowd roar. They're loving this. Oh. Wazasha just told me it's a Dromaosaurid.
((Waiting on Kat5e))

Magic I suppose
Cavaler Traleth |
Fodder, steps away from Cavaler's Dromaeosaurid, but not far enough away to not provoke an attack when he fires his rifle. The dinosaur attempts to tear into the Eoxian again with its talons. Following up on its attack the dino moves into flanking position again, but this time strikes with the razor sharp teeth in its mouth. Fodder, gets an AOO on it if he has a melee weapon out.

Gunnz |
DR reduces damage by 5, just as well. 30. Ouch! Did you remember the off target? If not, she may just have missed me. Just.
Taking advantage of Cavaleer's suggestion, Gunnz ducks, dives and tries to get out of sight of the heavy-artillery-wielding eoxian.

I don't think he's getting up in a hurry from that either. And ... ooooh boy ... that medical bill is going to be ... expensive.
((Who is Gunnz and Kat5e shooting at?))

Kat has combat tracking on Yetsin and is focusing her fire there

A hush falls on the stadium, followed by a resounding burst of cheering.
And .. there goes Death and Despair's winning streak. Victory goes to TEAM STARFINDER
We're sending our cameras down to interview the victors. But first, some messages from our sponsors
The gravity in the arena returns to normal.
Mizix |
Are the cameras down quickly?
As Mizix calms down a bit from the short but brutal fight the gnome is annoyed by the cameras being shoved into her face.
Remember: this is the job for the mission. Play along
Forcing down a scowl, she tries to instead offer a big smile. The result is a bit ghoulish whihc maybe plays for this audience, given the circumstances of who's running it.
Hundreds of years of extra unlife, you would think they'd have had more time to practice and get good.
phaeton_nz |
The camera drones accost you all allowing you to pose for the crowds or boast of your victory while a ghoul crew ruses to interview Caveler with questions asked via video like from Quell and Lethea.
At Mizix's response, Lethe interrupts the interview to say. Ooooooh ...... Buuuurn. Might me a personal rematch challenge coming in the future
The questions for Cavaler are:
How did you rate your chances going into this match?
That dinosaur was a slick move. What else can you pull out of your hat ... err ... metaphorically speaking?
What other surprises are we likely to see from the Starfinders?
Cavaler Traleth |
Cavaler, removes his helmet so the camera can see his movie star good looks and perfect hair.
"We were confident going into the match that we were going to put forth a good performance. Death and Despair competed at a high level and we feel fortunate that we came out on top. Make no mistake though, we trained hard in preparation to face them and we executed our game plan just as we planned it."
"I might have a few more tricks up my sleeve. You'll just have to stay tuned and keep watching if you want to see them."
"At this level of competition there are no more surprises. Everyone knows everyone else's strategies. What I can say though is we will fight hard, fight smart, and fight together until the final buzzer sounds."
Gunnz |
Gunnz can hardly resist finding a camera crew. Nahh.. she can't resist the chance.
"Of course, listing to SMC is like *so* uplifting. How could anyone fail with one of their anthems blasting away through suit speakers? Totally Drift."
Kat5e |
If approached, Kat loads a pre-programmed sub-routine of stock interview answers and spouts them off in a randomized order.
"I'm really proud of the way our guys hung in there."
"We gotta keep getting more shots in deep."
"Communication is key"
"We just got to stay on our game, stick to the plan."
"I was just doing my job."
"This team showed alot of heart."
"We're taking it one game at a time."
If there is an opportunity for downtime between matches, Kat will burn an RP to recover stamina and use a mk1 healing serum for 1d8 ⇒ 2
phaeton_nz |
You have three rounds to prepare, which is not enough time to recover stamina, before you go into a second combat. At the end of those three rounds thunderous music fills the Zo!Dome and new creatures arrive to confront you. As this happens, the gravity again drops.
And now we move on to some more interesting opponents! Traveling through the Drift is convenient, but it’s a strange place.
Even stranger now
Ah-hem! Anyway, you never know what sort of creature might be following your starship as it flits from world to world. Well, now you do: Drift wraiths! These fleshy flyers look like a cross between a gargoyle and a lamprey, with more than a little “Ew!” thrown into the mix.

Cavaler Traleth |
That was 3 rounds of combat and 3 rounds between when the drift wraiths showed up, so Cav's dinosaur is still active for 4 more rounds.
Cavaler, reloads his crossbolter and checks to make sure the syringe stick attached to it is primed and full of Blue Whinnis poison.

You have difficulties pronouncing that name too?
