The wraith's bite savages Cavaler's dinosaur, but it still roars in defiance at the space lamprey. 28/45 HP

My bad. Red is indeed at -68, Blue is unscathed

Cha'mon Cha'mon, gestures with his crossbolter at the wraith attacking Kat5e. His Dromaeosaurid leaps and bounds across the arena floor until it is behind the wraith before is rakes its talons across the creature's back.

And that's it folks. The Gar gar .. whatisis are all down. The Starfinders are victorious again.
Listen to that crowd roar. The Starfinders make it all seem easy.
Let's get some cameras down there. But first, more messages from our sponsors
Once the commercial break is over, more of Zo!’s staff members interview you all. You all have a chance to describe your exploits or play to the cameras.

![]() |

While the cameras are setting up Are we still on the arena floor, or moved into a green room? Mizix moves over to Kat. Are you all right? You took some big blows. And you don't look like you're as used to that as I am. she asks.
As the producers try to take some shots of them all, the gnome tries to stretch and do a few flips while talking. Now those things were wild. Wait, I'm sorry. Cut. Re-take two. Now those things were Drift.

![]() |

"Another great win for the team," Cavaler says succinctly.

![]() |

Gunnz goes around and high fives the team. Saving an especially good one for Mizix when she describes the combat as 'Drift'.
"Totally! "

![]() |

"I could use a rest" she tells Mizix. "I doubt the next battles will be easier"
She looks pretty beat up, resting her weight on one leg and grimacing. She runs her hand through her hair as the cameras approach and puts on a brave face, reaching back into her bank of stock sports interview answers.
"...that one was for the fans. What a great crowd.... yeah took a few for the team there.... We know what we gotta do; we just gotta go out there and do it.... Just had to keep giving 110%."
She stop for a moment and then finally gives a serious answer. "You know, this is a fantastic organization that I am truly proud to work with. I've had the opportunity to work with so many great people, doing what you just got a glimpse of here today. I've been proud to travel to other planets and make a positive difference for the people there. Sometimes you don't see the effects right away because you're off to the next one. But just know that anyone out there watching, the Starfinder Society is there to help, and it just may be a second home for you."
She moves back to her teammates. "Had to get the one out before they killed me off" she jokes in her traditional deadpan style.

![]() |

Given the setting, I'm not sure that would have stopped them from putting you in another fight Mizix snarks quietly to Kat, nodding towards all the animated dead about.
I think Waz said they've got us piloting in between arena fights, so you may be able to take a breather. But that's a good chunk of blood. Do you need some help. The gnome fiddles with her bandolier to show a syringe to Kat mk 2 serum of healing. After we're moving so it doesn't look like you're just juicing. Or maybe that'd actually play well here. It's hard to tell.

![]() |

This is when Wazasha turns up to take you to the spaceport.
Have you decided on a ship yet? We got a Drake and a Pegasus all prepped and ready to go. The goal of this is for you to engage with one of our ships in order to get some good footage of space combat. Here are some examples of what I mean
Wazasha provides you with some videos that include examples of starships flying by or shooting weapons at other starships with explosions bursting into advertisement text.
There is also enough time for healing and the regaining of stamina.

![]() |

"Dudes!" gushes Gunnz.
"Ppllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeasssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee don't make me fly the Drake. Pretty please? The Pegasus is so much more ... DRIFT"

![]() |

The argument of Drake versus Pegasus continues all the way to the spaceport. For some reason, the Azata is barely mentioned except for Wazasha saying You'll be flying an Azata if if you can't decide. Do Starfinders always argue like this?

![]() |

Cavaler, turns to Kat5e and says, "You should be a politician."
On the ride to the spaceport, "The Pegasus has substandard armaments. You must be the best pilot in the Pact Worlds, Gunnz if you believe you can win a starship battle with a Pegasus."

![]() |

"I have _never_ lost a battle in a Pegasus." states Gunnz confidently.
"There is more to winning a battle than the biggest gun. Positioning, evasion. Not being right in front of the other sides biggest weapons. The Scanners alone in the Pegasus can make a big difference, helping us to know where to sit with respect to the other ships."

![]() |

Flying horse it is then. Mizix concedes with a shrug. If the point is getting good spectacle footage, might be better to be agile anyway.

![]() |

By the time you reach the space port, it is decided to give the Pegasus a go, much to Gunnz' delight. This one is the Wonderbolt and does have this logo on it as well as the Starfinder logo.
So far Gunnz is Pilot, Cavaler is Captain and the other two are Gunners - is that right?
Once you are ready, Gunnz rockets the Wonderbolt up into Bretheda orbit, nearly pulling max-gees. A certain Top Gun Maverick would be proud.

![]() |

After making sure nobody is looking, Gunnz does... something.. to a panel near the pilots seat. Within seconds the inner wiring of the console is exposed. She hunts around for a moment or two, and carefully extracts what appears to be some type of fuse. Swapping it out with one from her pouch, she looks around, her face innocence incarnate.
That would be Gunnz hotwiring the "fail-safe" on the acceleration controls. There are many ways to get the "finest engines"! +2 to our top speed. Gunnz is also a sky jockey, so in total that is +3 to our top speed. What tier Pegasus are we flying?
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" she squeals before putting on her new "combat mix".
"Come of pep's shake it! Let see how they how they like that?

![]() |

The Wonderbolt is a Tier 8.
Everyone is flattened into their seats, some nearly on the point of blacking out. The camera ship, covering your takeoff, has a hard job keeping up.
((Stats on slide))

![]() |

Mizix will mostly gun. but round 1 will be Science Officer (to boost herself or the other gunner for the rest of the combat)
Do - we - need - to - burn - this - fast? Mizix manages to grunt out as she finds herself clutching the seat's handrest tightly while the ship accelerates.

![]() |

Kat nods her thanks to Mizix at the offer of the meds. "We'll see that the next challenge holds."
Is the drive there, say, 10 minutes?
Cavaler, turns to Kat5e and says, "You should be a politician."
"Answered the question with an honest and heartfelt answer. I think that disqualifies me from politics."
Sorry everyone, struggling to keep up. My schedule should be returning to normal now. Kat has a +11 to gunnery and a +14 computers for science

![]() |

Yes - there is time to recover stamina

![]() |

BTW, I'm happy for GM to roll init for Gunnz during the combat, that speeds things up. With the Pegasus bonus to pilot, and a node, that normally gives me +25 forcing the baddies to move first.

![]() |

"Helmsman, maintain a disciplined approach vector. You're flying too fast, you'll overload the ship's engines and cause a burnout," Cavaler says as he rocks back and forth in the captain's chair.
Our gunner can take the second node bonus. I suggest our gunner use the broadside action so we can fire all our weapons at once. Cavaler, can also switch to gunner if our main gunner uses up too many resolve points.

![]() |

[b]For some reason it takes a bit for the artificial gravity and inertial dampeners to kick in. Maybe that was deliberate for more exciting footage. if the interior view of the takeoff.
But regardless, it doesn't take you long to reach the designated orbit where other camera ships are waiting. Ahead is your foe, the SSG Pilgrim, a large Gorgon class destroyer (Tier 8)

![]() |

"Aww, captain... surely you'll want to have battle speed?" whines Gunnz who has obviously spent more time with teen-girls than drill-sergeants.
init, node, pegasus bonus: 1d20 + 21 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 21 + 3 + 1 = 45
"WWWWWWWWWWWWhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
She calls out, all but dancing in the pilots chair as the ship starts a set of what might be charitably called evasion manoeuvres, and uncharitably be compared to endurance testing in a centrifuge..
Are we the ship at the top or the bottom?
Gunnz reaches out a slim hand to fast-forward to her next track.

![]() |

If we're in combat initiative/phases
Form the 'science officer' seat, Mizix turns to Kat. If that's a gorgon class, it has tough shields but the society has some experience with it in the field. Sending you over some after-action reports that might point out weak spots.
In the first Helm Phase, Mizix will spend a Resolve point to give Kat a +3 bonus on all gunnery checks for the duration of this combat. (and will second Cavaler's suggestion to Broadside and take the 2nd +3 ship bonus to one of those shots each round).

![]() |

"Mr. Gunnz, turn off that music immediately and accelerate to attack speed. Watch your attack angle, that ship is heavily armed."
"Mr. Kat5e, weapons are free, we'll pass along their starboard side. Make your shots count."
Cavler, opens a comm frequency to the other ship. "SSG Pilgrim, this is Iron Eagle, I am the captain of the Wonderbolt. Prepare to be destroyed."

piloting: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 1 = 25
They laboriously start to turn to face you

![]() |

"mr? Mr? MR? Baby, you not been paying attention to what I been shakin?" all but fumes Gunnz.
It would seem that the misnaming has upset the pilot slightly. Attack speed being somewhat redefined as "how many lights can go red at the same time on the pilots panel."
Base speed 10. +2 for best engines, +1 for sky jockey. Burning my free RP for space combat to pull the Full Power pilot stunt, adding 50%. Which gives me a range of 19, which brings us up nice and close to the Gorgon facing its side. At least I assume that the gap in the "front" of the rainbow was its facing. I've added a nice big pink arrow to make our facing really clear. Also added dotted line to show our travel.
"WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
"Now this is why we fly a Pegasus!"

![]() |

That 'gap' is actually dark blue but it doesn't show up well.
Gunnery phase.
They fire a tactical nuclear missile at you from their starboard weapon and another tactical nuclear missile from the turret. They aim for your forward arc (dark blue).
gunnery: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16 damage: 5d8 ⇒ (2, 8, 8, 8, 5) = 31
gunnery: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 damage: 5d8 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 1, 2) = 14

![]() |

With an AC of 23 (15 base plus 8 from pilot ranks), that makes for 31 damage to our front shields. Ouch. It is down to nine.
"Tactical nukes.... that is hardly playing fair. I'll try to get around behind them... unless anyone can tell me they are packing something even worse there?"
She pauses, before adding. "And capin... you want me to try to keep facing them for our particle beam, or keep them to port so we can use our point defences against those missiles?"

![]() |

With an AC of 23 (15 base plus 8 from pilot ranks), that makes for 31 damage to our front shields. Ouch. It is down to nine.
Isn't it the just lesser hit that actually struck us, so just the 14 damage? And against the missiles would be 25 (since 17 TL base) - still one hit, but not too bad. Maybe Evasive stunt next round unless we have something better to do?
I can scry them next round Mizix says back to Gunnz. See if they have anything spicy to their stern before you steer.

![]() |

How do you get 31? If only the 29 hit, damage is 14

![]() |

I was looking at the screen cross-eyed and got my lines muddled up. 14 is much better than 31. And yes, likely do evasion next round, but wanted to try to get into a position that was not in front of them first.
That is where most ships have their heaviest weapons.

![]() |

If Cav's taunt succeeded their gunners take -2 penalties to their attack rolls in round 1 and round 2. DC = 15 + 1-1/2 × the enemy starship’s tier.
I was just RP'ing when I said we were going to pass along their starboard side. Please fly as you see fit. I'll comment in OOC if I have any good suggestions.
"Attack their aft quadrant Mr. Gunnz, we need to keep all our best weapon systems aimed at them as much as possible. If we have to resort to the laser net to avoid their missiles make that a last resort."
Try to get on their tail and we'll blast away.
I've watched Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan too many times to count and everyone is referred to as mister on the bridge even if they are a woman. I don't know why, but if its good enough for Spock it's good enough for Cavaler.

![]() |

Kat brings the weapons up to full power as Gunnz powers the shop towards their target.
Looks like we're in the front arc, Kat will use the turret and particle beams in a broadside attack

![]() |

Dont forget there’s a missile launcher in the front too (and you can take the other footing ship bonus for another +3 to one of those shots each round)

![]() |

Oh, of course, "All of the weapons in one arc". I had it in my brain that I had to pick one. It's probably too late to add the +3 to my second shot there, so I will add it to this one
Missiles: 1d20 + 11 + 3 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 3 - 2 + 3 = 18
Boom: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 8, 1, 6) = 16

![]() |

Cavaler, can switch to gunner soon since it looks like you are low on RP. We can have two gunners or just one, but since you have that permanent +3 bonus it might be good for you to remain as a gunner. On the other hand we do need our shields to be repaired though.

![]() |

Eh, Mizix can boost Cav’s gunnery bonus too - though should probably scan/scry this upcoming turn if Kat can fire one more round.
