"Indeed. They will undoubtedly pose more of a challenge than their minions have." Nuriyah grins, obviously eager to test her skills.

This area is a large natural amphitheatre which slopes down the cliff walls to a small semi-circular stage. The back of the amphitheatre appears to be solid trees and underbrush, except for a small path that winds between the massive trunks. At one side of the stage, in a position that ovelooks both the path and the tunnel mouth is a large throne made of bones and skulls. On it rests a creature with the torso of a man and the tail of a snake, which is coiled around the throne. Near him stands a man with a snake's tail growing from his backside. A winding staircase leads from the cave mouth to the stage area. Standing at the bottom of the staircase is a man in scale armor. Thirty feet from the cave mouth, on the stairs, is a snake creature with human arms.

”That’s hideous.” Takeda remarks. ”Does anyone want to try and talk with these things or shall we just beat them senseless?

Outside at last, Chui whispers to Windaghi as they emerge into the light. And plants! He takes in the sight of the monstrous creatures, and replies to Takeda No one get too close for now. I have magic that will hamper them in a fight.

This seems like a good encounter to drop Thorny Entanglement on the throne area. That will lock down those people while the melee people tangle with the two closer to us.

They all hiss at you, and one yuan-ti comes out to poke his head and cast a spell at you. To your horror, his body except his head is all snake! The spell he cast is mass harm. It does 5d6 damage to each of you.

Chui: damage: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 6, 3) = 25
Takeda: damage: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 4, 2) = 21
Nuriya: damage: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 4, 1) = 13

Timerus: damage: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 2, 6) = 16
Phoibe: damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 6, 4) = 23

You are all racked with pain. "Take that, invaders," says the Yuan-ti on the throne.

Ok, well I guess that settles the talk question...

With that said, @EltonJ, saving throw type (if any)? Also, can we have a fight map (it would be really nice for positioning and who gets hit with what)?

That said, the obvious roll is:

Nuriyah gasps, staggering slightly. She spits out a mouthful of blood and glares down at the yuan-ti. "Tyug'u, Timerus, if you want to throw fire at them do it now before I get in there." Fire genasi are fire resistant, but far from fireproof.

Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

I'm not familiar with mass harm, but if it works like harm we should be able to make a Will save for half damage. Using Charmed Life to add my Cha mod to the save.

Will + Charmed Life: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 4 = 18

Very well, Chui says, pointing at the two farthest-back snake folk. Tengenza Miiba!

DC 17 reflex save or they are Entangled, taking 1 damage on a failed save. On each of their turns, the plants make an attack at +11, doing 2d6 damage on a hit. Since the action is on their turn, DM, can you roll for it? The entangling effect is within a 40-foot radius spread, and the plants shoot at anyone who comes within 15 feet of the perimeter, and so may hit other farther-back Yuan-Ti. I aimed it to exclude the two nearer Yuan-ti, so our melee types can beat them up without friendly fire, but to include the others we see and anyone coming up behind them to help. This will last for 7 minutes.

What is the save DC on Mass Harm?

The entangling thorns are also making attacks at +11 for 2d6 damage on anyone within the 40-foot circle and 15 feet outside. This takes place on the target's turn, so all the Yuan-Ti in range should have been attacked once by now.
