Trusty Trashbot |

Also thank you guys for putting up with Trusty as an NPC in the background. He's the character who would have gotten credit for this adventure. Of course, he would advocate for any route involving trash!
GM Hmm |
Chivix is happy with either Crawl Spaces or the Safe Route. He does not sense odor the way most mammalian species do, and has good Engineering and Acrobatics/Athletics abilities, as do most of us.
CHIVIX -- Crawl Spaces or Safe Route.
SPANNER -- Crawl SpacesMore party votes?
Jerris "Maverick" Sakai |
If we are all good at engineering and acrobatics I'm fine with Crawl Spaces. I'd also be fine with the Main Deck since Naylor is a ghost operative, but I'm not sure what everyone else's stealth bonuses are. Maverick never takes the Safe Route.
Zeyram |
Stealth? Is that even a class skill for a Daredevil operative? ;)
Zeyram is not trained in Stealth, so he only has a +8. Unlikely he would make the check.
Since both Chivix and Spanner are saying they can do the Acrobatics or Athletics checks, seems Crawl Spaces is the best way to go. Fortunately Zeyram doesn’t have the experience with trash compactors that a different character of mine does.
Also, my reading is we only need one Engineering check but everyone must do the Acrobatics or Athletics check.
Compucast |
Compucast would prefer to avoid the trash.. it is unbecoming a Vesk to crawl through the sewers. But he will take one for the team if that is the teams wish.
Naylor |
Naylor is good with any choice however the safe route is their least skilled area.
Naylor likes the direct approach, though looking at the rest of the team realises it may not be the best approach.
The concern they raise regarding the crawl space route is the possibility of the odour being a problem later and giving away their presence.

Your GM is having a busy and very full day. I may not be able to post today. See you on Thursday!
Naylor |
Oh, that works perfectly. I was feeling guilty that I hadn't checked in yet. But today is my short day after an all-nighter gaming with Australians.
Whatever is keeping you busy, Hmm, I hope all is going well.
Naylor |
@Maverick - it should be 17 damage on the mindthrust. The default is always round down unless otherwise specified.
Jerris "Maverick" Sakai |
@Naylor - Thanks!

For any unfamiliar with Izalguuns, please read this blog. It was one of the best outcomes to come out of reporting conditions ever.

I answered you in character! But I keep meeting Society players who haven't heard of them! At some point, I really need to make an Izalguun!

Dice bot just kills you sometimes. I bought those shell knuckles and put the opportunistic fusion on it just for an opportunity like this and of course I roll a one!
GM Hmm |
The Hierarch has definitely lasted a bit longer than even I expected! But I suspect that his days may be numbered!
GM Hmm |
So this is a hard fight with some nasty surprises, no mistake. But I am hearing unhappy players which is not normal for one of my games, so please talk with me. Yeah, the jinsuls can fly and the Hierarch is a dick with spells. But I'm trying to keep this nasty fight as fair as I can -- even with all the nasty surprises it may include.
Are you guys okay?
Hmm
Zeyram |
I am fine so far.
Might have helped if you had mentioned the jetpacks earlier, but every Jinsul fight has had something weird in it.
GM Hmm |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah, I forgot to mention they had jetpacks, but I almost never see the mention of jetpacks in an initial opponent description. Still, your characters would have noticed it, so that is something we can change.
*Note to future self*
- Anytime there are jetpacks on enemies, mention this in future games.
Zeyram |
It is something I often miss too, a mention of basic equipment on the enemies.
GM Hmm |
Thank you for your feedback so far. One thing that I like to tell people is that I try to learn something new with every game that I GM, and I mean that. So if you are unhappy, tell me.
This is a tough scenario, but you all have been doing really well so far!
Naylor |
Not unhappy at all. Remembering to provide a basic description of NPCs, particularly foe, is something I am working on in all forms of play. PbP has the option to allow some more detailed descriptions and yet I usually forget and focus on setting up the rounds, etc.
Jerris "Maverick" Sakai |
I'm the opposite of unhappy. I'm loving all the action. I like it when combat is really hard. I usually find it too easy. My comment on the dice bot was just me commenting. I understand no one can control the dice. To me the game is not fun if there is no threat of death and I like it when there are surprises in combat and it challenges you to use all your PC's skills to find the advantage. I even don't mind when you are unlucky with the dice because it forces you to improvise and then there are times you are super lucky with the dice. The randomness of the dice gives combat an epic feel when something goes right or wrong.
This may not be the normal players perspective, but I don't even really care if my PC dies as long as the game was run by the rules and his death was not because of some silly inconsequential reason.
Maverick is my first PC and I've leveled him from 1 to 10 just playing SFS games and only applying credit from completion of one adventure path module. However, if he dies in some epic battle, to me that is just the story of his adventures.
Anyway, that is my take. I like the game played by the rules, with no mercy from the GM. I actually don't like it when the GM gives you mulligans.
Compucast |
I'm pretty happy with how this is all going. No grumbles here.
Although compucast himself may be less polite.
GM Hmm |
I hope you are still loving it... That was a bad roll for a crit.
The GM is offering to the table her campaign coin with 4 novas on it. Use it when you would have a BIG attack on Dhurus that might otherwise miss. I think it's time to go full out with everything you have!
Yes, Compucast, I know you're low on spells. Still, your microbot assault prevented one of Dhurus's attacks last turn.
EDIT: I just realized looking back through the posts that Naylor made Dhurus flat-footed, so Dhurus does not get that Attack of Opportunity, which means that Maverick did not take 72 damage from a crit.
Go, team operative!
Compucast |
No worry about being low on spells. I have most of my L2 and vitually all L1s. The sweating in his armour is just how I reflect that in game play.
Real question now is whether I am better pouring on MM damage, trying a pratorian or supercharging someone with a good to-hit's weapon.
Zeyram |
Naylor and Maverick have the best chance of hitting, but watch out for that acidic spit if you use Supercharge Weapon. We need to avoid lining up with each other.
Jerris "Maverick" Sakai |
How long would it take you to get to Maverick's position so you can supercharge his weapon?
Compucast |
I can do it in one round with the haste.+4d6 damage is nice, but not a game breaker at our level.
Zeyram |

I think the 5 acid damage/round from Compucast’s Caustic Conversion has been missed.
It is supposed to happen at the end of each of Dhurus’s turns for 4 rounds.
GM Hmm |
Great. Thanks for catching that!
Naylor |
Did Naylor miss pink or was that post missed?
GM Hmm |
Bah. I thought I had accounted for Naylor's attack, but looking at my post... No I did not. I'll go fix it!
And no treat for the GM tonight!

Thanks for running the scenario GM HMM. You did a great job and this was a tough one to run with high level characters and lots of abilities being used. Thanks to everyone on the team for being awesome. You can be my wingman anytime.
