Soumral Malyarin |
I'll get Soumral updated to reflect the mask in the next couple of days. There are a lot of things to change.
Nevitash |
I am taking a small family trip for Spring Break. We leave Sunday and return sometime on Tuesday. I am not sure how much free time I will have to post, so please feel free to bot me as needed.
GM West |
I'm here folks, just bogged down with work and lacking energy when I get home. My posting rate will be slow between now and April 15, but I promise to get a few in between now and then. Be patient with me, and we'll get the adventure rolling again soon. Thanks!!
Soumral Malyarin |
Wow, I'm almost drunk with power! That mask is something else!
I almost feel bad for asking considering Soumral is now immune to all diseases including magical ones as a side note, but I guess I should.
Soumral gets the 7th level version so that adds +7 skill points to K History. Soumral already had +6 points invested, so does she take the +5 regular and 1 background points and reallocate them elsewhere, or does she just add +1 point to bring her total points in K History to 7, or does she add the +7 on top of the current plus +6 for +13 points in K History?
EDIT: I found the answer. I add +1 to the existing +6 for +7.

True. I considered putting it on when we found it but was concerned that there would be a curse or something. Now it's more a question of who gets the "biggest bang for the buck" wearing it. You gain more than anyone else in the party so....
Elliander Celandi |
Great that you are back again, GM West!
Something wrong with all the pictures in the handouts and maps? I only see question marks instead of the pictures. Link problem or graphics? Anyone else has the same problem?
Devin Horekson |
Ok, I am going to be travelling until the 23ed (inclusive). I should be able to still post, but things may be sparse. Feel free to bot me if necessary...
Soumral Malyarin |
My apologies, I'm too covered up at work and tired at home to get a post in before this weekend.
Welcome back West!
Elliander Celandi |
My old PC still shows the pictures, but not the one I usually use. Same problem “Can’t load image” (black triangle with white exclamation mark) on different web browsers. Seems to be a Google Docs problem with new version (mid-April). Tried even to clear my cache. Well, let’s see if it will self-heal.
Nevitash |
I just thought I would pop in and say I am here. I am just waiting to see what Soumral tells the group. Although if her roll of a 19 fails, I doubt we are going to figure out what the curse is.
GM West |
I actually need a second Spellcraft check from Soumral. Her first one beat the DC by 10 or more, which gave her the insight it was a cursed magic item - but a second roll is needed (only needs to beat the regular DC for the magic item it's masquerading as) for her to figure out what the cursed item does.
Nevitash |
Ah, that explains the second check.
Devin Horekson |
Just to make sure of everyone's stance here.
Against Opening it: Francis thinks this last door might not be worth it,
For Opening it: everyone else is coming up with ways to get through...
So, I think Francis is outvoted, but I will let this stand for a day or so...
Nevitash |
I am definitely on the open side.
Soumral Malyarin |
Nothing from Soumral's K Engineering check and looking for a small gap to send an Arcane Eye spell in?
Devin Horekson |
Step one of the plan: Francis stays in the back of the group.
And here I was figuring the plan would be to push you to the front and have you open it...
GM West |
Oh dang, forgot to answer that question, Soumral! I don't generally allow an Arcane Eye to move through a door unless there's something in the room description that would specifically allow it - or maybe if the place were in a very decayed and broken down state. Neither one applies here, so I'm going to rule that you don't see anything that would allow your Arcane Eye to pass through the secret door. Not here, anyway.
Elliander Celandi |
Yes, still problem with the map. "Image could not be loaded"
Cleared all web history :( , but the problem is still there.
GM West |
Damn, that is strange, Elliander. I double-checked my Share permissions and it's set for anyone with the link.
Can you not see the map at all? None of the slides? Or is it the page itself that doesn't load? Are you using Chrome?
Devin Horekson |
Proposed plan:
Make my traveller's anytool into a hook type thing that will grab the door. Tie a rope to it, and then we all hide around the corner (green dashed box on the map). One of us plays at human pulley (holds the rope in hand and braces elbow against the wall), while the rest of us give the rope a pull to open the door...
What does everyone think? We will be out of line of sight and a good 15' from the door when it opens...
Nevitash |
Sounds good.

Yes, multiple web browsers, but only on my laptop, not my desktop. Every jpg or png file won't load. Still think it's a cache or version issue with google docs.
Don't worry, I can deal with it.Francis_Thrannel |
Possibly a file association issue? The browser has to know which graphics program to use to show pictures in the window? Have you changed software lately? Also, check in Windows Explorer. Find a jpg or png file. Right click and open properties. It will show what the file type is and what program it says to open the file.

Works for me! But I'll still blame you if we die! :p
Devin Horekson |
I think that's buy in from everyone (it's certainly a majority)... I will try to get a gameplay post in the morning.
Elliander Celandi |
Tried a lot of things (removing all web history, clearing browser etc).
Added a page and used Insert to add a .jpg, a .gif and a .png. All three pictures were visible until I reloaded the page, then they too couldn’t load.
Made my own Presentation and added a picture: same result (so it’s not an issue about ownership).
I’ve no problem with loading pictures outside Google docs.
Seems more people on the internet are having the same issue. Not sure if it’s because of SW version or browser extensions. I have the same problems on different types of browsers though, and they don’t have the same extensions.
I’ve installed Google Presentation on my smartphone though, so that will have to work for now.

Just wanted to check in, folks! I'm still here, got my computer back to working but on a long (and much needed) vacation until the end of the month. I'll see if I can get a post in at some point in the next week or so, but I'll ask for your patience if you don't hear anything until the end of June. Thank you!!
Nevitash |
Ok, take care!

I'm back from my road trip and getting over a bout of COVID that greeted me upon getting back home! Jeez... Give me a day or two to figure out where to go from here as far as the adventure goes, and expect a post from me before the weekend!!
Nevitash |
Welcome back.

Starday, the 19th day of Desnus, 4714 AR
Weather outside is unknown.
Probably somewhere around sunset, but unknown for certain.
----------------------------------------------
Francis uses his magic to summon an ally made of pure force - a glowing entity that seems to be wielding a dagger - that attacks the shadow mastiff. Unfortunately, the spiritual ally isn't able to see his foe very well, and the strike misses. Elliander's twin scorching rays also fail to hit the mastiff as Amenhep scoots through his allies and tries to negotiate the slope where the mastiff is standing and the paladin finds his footing just fine as he slashes with his magic spear and whether by luck or skill, the broad head of the spear sinks deep (16 damage) into the monster's shoulder! Devin shudders at the howl, but overcomes the urge to flee - though the half-orc is prone at the monster's front paws! Or he thinks so anyway, as the creature is sort of a shapeless shadow only vaguely resembling a giant hound with glowing red eyes. One of Nevistash's strikes pierces through the shadow and strikes the beast (21 damage), but the second blow fails to land. Getting to her own feet after disentangling herself from the paladin, Soumral shouts in Ancient Osirian and casts a spell that both potentially blinds anyone in the area of effect, but more importantly sticks to them and negates invisibility-type powers! Amenhep understands the warning and shuts his eyes so that he isn't blinded, but the paladin is glowing as brightly as the shadow mastiff!
Amenhep's Acrobatics check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15 vs DC 10 = Success!
Amenhep's Spear attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 30 = Possible Hit!
Concealment Miss Chance (01-50): 1d100 ⇒ 62 = Hit!
Spear damage: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 16 piercing damage
Shadow Mastiff's Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 vs DC 19 = Success!
The shadow mastiff is glowing quite nicely, though the elven wizardess doesn't see another at the top of the ramp - maybe it was just beyond the area of effect? The creature isn't blinded though, and it spins and bites at the half-orc that wounded it so terribly with the nasty axe! But Nevitash is just an instant quicker, thanks to the spell that hastened his movements, and the teeth snap on empty air, though the spiked tail grazes (2 damage) across his leg. A moment later, the second one makes its 'appearance' as it barrels into Amehep, its teeth finding a crease in the armor (13 damage) and biting into his flesh as it drives him to the floor (prone!)
Shadow Mastiff's Bite Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 1 = 19 vs Nevitash's AC = Miss!
Shadow Mastiff's Tail Slap: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 1 = 25 vs Nevitash's AC = Hit!
Tail Slap Damage: 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2
Shadow Mastiff's Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 1 = 12 vs DC 10 = Success!
Shadow Mastiff's Bite Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 1 + 2 = 21 vs Amenhep's FF AC = Hit!
Bite Damage: 1d8 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 1 = 13
Shadow Mastiff's 'Trip' Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 1 + 2 = 25 vs Amenhep's CMD = Tripped! Amenhep is prone!
Everyone can post your action for the rest of this round and the beginning of next! Devin, did you take an attack? I didn't see a roll, though maybe you're just performing? If you want, you can stand up and make a standard attack for the past round and a full attack action THIS round, if you'd like - but if you stand up from prone it's going to take an AoO against you retroactively. Francis, as you suspected the ally needs to make the concealment miss roll just as the rest of you do and a roll of 01-50 is a miss while a roll of 51-00 is a hit - so long as the attack roll hit as well! Sorry Elliander, those miss chance rolls you made are both misses. I have to set a target that everyone adheres to and is consistent throughout the game, and I've always ruled that a low roll due to concealment is a miss. By the way, you don't need to make Caster Level checks against these foes, they are not resistant to magic. Did we lose Amenhep? He hasn't posted since May and never posted for this round - which admittedly has lasted for nearly a couple months due to my own situation and not anyone else's I'll NPC him for now and send the player a PM. On a side note, I belatedly realized that the concealed mastiff should have a bonus to its attack roll AND attack flat-footed AC, because the target is denied DEX. Fortunately for Nevitash, his foe is no longer concealed, and unfortunately for Amenhep the attack hit because the paladin does not benefit from the Haste bonus to AC due to being denied his DEX bonus (which is nonexistent anyway.)

GAHHHHH!!!!
I'm going to cut/paste my post above into the correct place so all the die rolls stay the same. Fortunately I type my posts out in Word, so I've still got the document with all the formatting in place on the rest - mainly the combat log in the spoiler. Good Lord, I was on vacation too long, apparently. Thanks for pointing it out, Devin!!
Nevitash, you can keep those rolls if you'd like, just cut/paste them over. Thanks!
