Galen and Elsdyn finish the last two melee gobbies, down the hall and around the corner their is a yelp.

Well; blood and wounds all around; the party can reflect on what it must have took to do in the hardy squad of probably heavily armored and well trained dwarves that tried to hold this room; what more can be awaiting yon adventures deep within the bowls of this goblin lair once belonging to proud dwarven clans.

what are the parties actions? many dead goblins lay before you stinking in the hall; many more felled by magic, bolts and arrows in the distance; fresh blood and open bodies gives a putrid smell to the place; the remembrance of lost companions and missing adventures from your past coming back in remembrance; how swift things turn deadly and how dreadful the world would be in the grips of such an enemy.

Sunset wiggles and grimaces under Desidera's ministrations as the Goblin arrow is removed, with the wounds and bruises cleaned thence bandaged. Once she's been finished with, Sunset readily and happily helps the other woman tend to every one else's injuries, adding jibes and quips to help lighten any tension and brighten the atmosphere of the place. Sunset makes sure to compliment Bob on his excellent singing voice. ^_^

Perform Check:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 To bolster spirits and tell tales and jokes etc

"So's then, mates?" She asks around, "Whut're we t'do with th' Gobbie bodies?" Looking at the chopped and other wise mangled forms. "Shees, about th' same amount o' muck as a relatives Tuna boat." She muses. "T'is a pity we cain't just wash 'em over t'side an' let nature be taken its course." She continues.

"An' bein' stuck un'er this hill means doin' th' nest expedient thing o' pilin' 'em up an' lightin' a fire in't the go, neither." She looks at the low ceiling over head, lips pouting in thought

I wonder whut our serious combat-y type folks do see down yon hallway? ^_~

As she finishes with-- and is assisted by-- Sunset, Desidera is more focused on the healing and assessing of hurts to pay more than token attention to what is being said. Admittedly, much of Sunsets quips and comments are interspersed by a, "hold here", or "remove that", and likely one or two stern orders of "don't move" as she removed and cleaned and stitched. Galen in particular was treated rather brusquely and the subject of several annoyed glares while she was working.

As she finished up the rather hasty patching, she finally turned her attention to the tableau that was beyond the doorway, taking a second to make sense of the battlefield after the fact. Absentmindedly but competently repacking her Kit, she took another look at Elsdyn's heraldry, and then at everybody else. "Perhaps I am thinking too far ahead, but I am concerned about what we might expect when we do decide to rest."

For those spot 14 and above:

Spoiler:

The arrow leaves Mogues bow; and travels around the corner as if following a goblin; then you hear a gobby cry out.

Male Halfling Rogue / 1

I'll wait patiently for my turn to be patched up. I took two arrows, but minor damage. I thank Sunset for the kind words and say that it was easy to keep harmony with such a fine voice as yours.

When I patched up I will take a peak down the hallway.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

I guess that there wasn't really much to see.

Male Human (Britonian/Azurin) Earthblood Knight/2

Spot Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Elsdyn leans forward and wipes his sword off on the nearest goblin, then carefully inspects it for damage, finally sheathing it along with a satisfied nod.

He chuckles a bit at Sunset's performance as he removes his helmet and brushes his hair away from his face as he looks around at the various faces. He smiles openly and says to Galen specifically, but the group in general.

"Thy group doth perform most admirably, twas nothing but a privalege to fight along side such staltworthy companions. I thank thee kindly for thy aid given. It would further honor me to travel a bit with thee, for the moment at least, I think our path is the same and I would gladly welcome thy company."

"As for our fallen enemies, this room could probably store them or perhaps with some effort the sand above us could provide a better burial. Though in truth I think we should not tarry long for I have dreamnt perhaps a truth, given by the Lady, and a most vile and wicked thing doth make this place its home and drive the dwarven masters down into its depths. Twould not due to encounter such a thing or its reviled associates so recent from this last battle."

He will move over to a corner in the room and fiddle with something on the wall there and a door will unexpectedly open (for those who did not know of it).

"Within here our some goods of the dwarfs that the goblins did not ransack. I think the reduction in the goblins numbers is of good payment if thee need to restock thy food supply. Do though remember that tis the dwarf's stock and be mindful of their generosity should they be encountered later. Dwarf's have been known to be rather oddly possessive about things they call their own."

m half elf Paladin 2

Galen smiles
we have a good solid group here!

The honour is ours Elsdyn, I am sure we would all welcome you into our group.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Within the room; for those pearing inside.

Spoiler:

There are several sealed <using wax or tar> large barrels containing water. Smaller barrels of pickles, and packed, salted fish; there are a couple sacks of dried venison and dried apples, dried red beans and dried squash as well as dried mushrooms and a dried, roasted grain called Kaffe <that gnomes and dwarves brew with hot water and enjoy, most other races dont drink it or know much about it>. There is a barrel of probably some dark beer and a small cask of molasses near a box of salted, thick, dark crackers <stale>, most like used for soups rather than direct eating, but who knows but a dwarf or gnome.

There is not a lot here; looks like emergency rations rather than a larder; this would probably hold eight people for a couple weeks. Also in this room are 3 spades <short handled shovels> a pick, a cold chisel, a mallet, a small wooden box of healing herbs and about 10 clean, long strips of bandages, one set of flint/steel/tinder and about 100ft of hemp rope. There is a small cask of fine oil from rendered animal fat that could be for cooking or for lanterns. In the corner is a heavy <10 lbs) black cauldron with a lid and a ladle that can probably make a couple gallons of stew.

The room itself is not large; perhaps 10ft square. Keeping this room secure and or hidden might be a good idea until you can find a way back out though in the back of your minds; you know it will not really be secure as long as there are goblins up and about.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil wanders over to the hidden entrance that Elsdyn just opened and looks inside. Seeing all the died foodstuffs he says, "I have not need for the cookware as I have my own that I prefer, but in my kettle just a small amount of these rations would make a delicious meal. If we dare stop long enough to cook a meal."

Gloisil takes an assortment of the dried foods, a couple of pounds worth and packs them carefully in his backpack.

"I can't take any more without slowing myself down too much. It might be best if we all took a bit. If we run into the dwarfish folk, we might want to repay them for what we have taken."

Male Human (Celtic) Ranger 1

Also waits to be looked at by the resident healer.
I dont think we should stay here long. The bodies will attract scavengers and since we were unable to get all the goblins they will bring back more, probably in greater numbers.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

GM; as we are playing a level 1 game and the kids gloves are on; I want to put out a gentle reminder that you may wish to pick up your arrows and bolts when you have a chance; and I think maybe a thrown dagger if I remember right. My general rule is roll a d6 for each arrow or bolt; 1 or 2 it is broke or unusable; but you can save the arrow head; that is what I have always used unless 3.5; which has a million rule books; has some other rule; lets go by this.

also; on bandaging; I dont remember offhand and cant look it up; if that has any hp return; I have always said anyone can stop bleeding or stabilize someone, but with a sucessful heal roll; you can return some hps. If anyone has the book handy; mabye you can check or we can come up with some boost.

m half elf Paladin 2

Feh, truth is I'm not too bothered about keeping track of bolts. We're making a surplus off the Gobbies anyway, aren't we? (^_~) As always, looking forward to more fun an' adventure! ^_^

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

gobbies are firing short bows; their workmanship is shoddy; though they can - with the right incentive - make excellent things; they are far to lazy and short lived to bother. The arrows they are firing are not good quality though gobbies are used to their flight characteristecs; you guys are used to stuff that actually flies straight.

so; what are the parties actions?

"Well unless there is another way out of this room that we are in, I suggest that we carefully follow the goblins and head in the direction that they retreated to."

There was a small frown on the healer's face as she looked at the stores and debated replenishing her stock from the small cache. In the end, she let it be, her explanation being that, "If someone were in dire need of these stores, only to find that what was needed would be gone, I would not wish to bear the possibility that I may have hastened someone's death. We are not in dire need."

Galen was still receiving measured looks from her, Desidera somewhat suspecting that the paladin was concealing the extent of his injuries in favor of the rest of the group. One of her arms hurt due to a bone-deep bruise on her shoulder that she treated gingerly, but it would heal in time. Her equipment gathered and resettled, she spent the remainder of her curiosity on Galen, not having met anyone like him that she could recall meeting, though admittedly, the extent of her knowledge of lore of peoples was slim. Not least of all was his style of armor, though his pauldrons were definitely eye catching. At least she finally figured out more of his heraldry.

though you dont know the house or his status other than him being a noble; you dont recognise the house; being from the Greeks and Romans that fought in the Persian Civil War; you do recognise that he is a Briton; allied to the Persian King and on the same side as your people during that long and bloody conflict, you also know that they are stauch allies of both the Dwarven King at the far north of the Persian Kingdom and they revere elves and came to the aid of the Elven Elphland King when he sent the clarion call to battle the Hordes of Chaos led by two of the Four Horsemen; as your people sent forces to that conflict as well; you have heard many stories of valiant Briton heavy calvary; something Greeks and Romans do not have.

Additionally, you seem to remember rumors from soilders you have treated who talked about Britons; some battle cry to some mystical Lady of Ponds or some such; perhaps some minor elvish princess.

Sunset; and anyone helping her; as the healer tends the others wounds; you run out to do this dusty work; but to your chargrin; you begin digging in the sand and begin uncovering some dead; very heavily armored goblins and worgs; part of an armored horse; and some very heavily armored person with armor much better, but in the style of Elsdyn. I am assuming you stop; but up to you; when you discover parts of their bodies; your guess; there was a titanic calvary battle up top here abouts and the cieling caved in.

As you dig from the top; more sand comes in quickly; you could quickly just guide that sand to cover all the dead if you wish; just you and anyone else take a couple balance checks.

Though there appear to be tears in his eyes he smiles at her and in an even voice;

"M'lady, I beg thee not to further unearth what resides within this sand. Though I care not for the goblin and its steed, the knights that reside here are my fallen comrades. Twas through only the grace of the Lady and the sacrifice of my knight that I stand before thee now. Elsdyn i too belive in respecting the dead but i also believe in usiing what we have, perhaps someone can cast a spell to detect the presence of magic and if we find anything useful perhaps we can take it,

Elsdyn I am sure your fellow knights would not begrudge us the use of their equipment if it increased the chance of us surviving and vanquishing the evil in this place, it would be a shame if we failed in our quest because we lacked an item that one of you fallen comrades had, but the decision is yours

Gloisil checks what's left of his wounds to see how severe, but after the healing that he had received it doesn't look too bad.

He then watches Sunset and Bob dig, and then the exchange between Elsdyn, Sunset and Galen. He does not speak and by the look on his face you cannot tell what he is thinking in regards to the fallen knight.

He is still holding his crossbow, ready to use it if necessary, glancing down the big passageway from time to time for signs of any other foes.

in the goblins pouches; you find three semi precious stones; 15 silver pieces; some wierd colored powder; and bits of carved bone and twisted braided hair with cheap baubles and other personal bits.

you also find goblin sized medium armor; and a goblin style calvary sabre; a short bow of decent quality; and 5 decent short bow arrows.

the warg is big and scary; even dead; the sand keeps pouring down as you disturb it; what else does the party check besides the goblin?

I take it that the secret door is still open at this time as well and the party is split with half in two differnt areas; what light source if any is in the main hall?

Galen and Elsdyn had not yet committed to a decision, so she was waiting to see what they intended on doing.

Her thoughts were a different matter. Not knowing enough about their current circumstances, she was making an attempt to sort through what little she knew of Religion and Spellcraft to see if she could determine what exactly may be going on. Granted, she knew the war had shaken everything up, but with the shifting of conflicting powers, could a lesser learned mortal such as her even try to figure out a piece of what was going on? The only two clues she had so far were the greater effect of her spell, something she had not experienced before, and Sunset's calling of a messenger of Ares. None such things had happened outside, save for the assistance of a Kirin in bringing her here, but the easiest answer that she found so far was that they were being watched.

Even that sounded a bit egotistical to her. Frowning, she sighed in annoyance and looked around at the group again. "Gloisil", she started, an inquisitive tone in her voice, before she trailed off, thinking. "..do you have any thoughts on what happened during the battle?"

"I'm sorry Desidera, I have not studied the powers that are greater then us all. They have not much to do with the arcana that I use to cast my spells, and so I do not have much to do with them, or they me. I do appear to be in their debt after today though, and I'm thankful for their intervention."

(O.o) Twenty Gobbie bodies?

Stopping in her efforts to excavate the goblin and its dea wolf mount, Sunset saunters over to the entry way to the parties last redoubt.

"Geeze, we done kil't a heap o' th' lil' buggers." She shakes her head and sighs, "It does look like it'll take some time to move/haul/scrape this lot over t' where th' sand is." She frowns even as her stance shifts from one bare brown foot to another.

"Hmmm, there's such an amount t' learn. I would never o' thunk I'd be needin' a rake or better shovel t' deal with th' afters of a fight, kind o' thing." Sunset looks innocently inquisitive as she mulls over the parties problems, possibly her attitude striking others as odd to sound so calm and almost cheerful in describing the after effects of conflict.

Sunset twists and slides some of the remains onto he shovel. Lifting and hauling said mess over to the mound of sand, depositing the load in hole she'd been scooping out of the shifting mass. Upon her arrival for a second trip she asks, to no one seemingly in particular,

"Um, so? we shiftin' this lot or we movin' along, type o' thing?"

If'n folks are thinkin' it be a better idea t' be skedaddlein' now, I'm all fer listenin'. Hadn't realized we'd carpeted th' place in wall t' wall gore here 'bouts. :P

"Sir Galen, it is not the items my comrades bear that concerns me. I think thee speaks truth in their wishes. However, the sand is all that protects them from the canibalistic nature of these foul beasts that inhabit here. Were M'lady to dig up their bodies for such things, I fear we would not be able to hide them back again and their remains would be forever lost to their families and their final peace. This is what most concerns me."

"There is another concern though, that must weigh our decision. This sand is unstable, to dig might cause yet another collapse, on us even and I fear we have little time till those creatures return with a larger force, I think getting far enough away that we cannot so easily be found should serve us much better than anything that might be unearthed here."

He turns back to Sunset.

"M'lady, it is not within the earth that we lay our friends and family who have past, but to sea. For it is only upon the ocean that they may pass through the Lady's mist that guards their final resting place."

"Well if we're not burying the dead then let us be moving on before our 'friends' return."
