For each of your missiles; roll a d20; anything less than a 10 and the bolt is useless; though you could save the tips; and some feathers of the broken ones; being frugal; cost you less for replacements or a person with the skill to make such things could pound out the tips and replace shafts and like that.

I havent kept track; can anyone answer; minimally you should have recieved exps at the hill you met the Kirin; after the attempt at entrance in the front and the withdrawl; then after the battle by the sand where you met Elsdyn; and then here; I am guessing your all pretty much very close or made 2nd level.

Valegrim |

does anyone else have search or investigative rolls to make?
Mogue seems to be looking at the goblins; giving each a quick once over; he seems to be looking for something specific; he is not checking their bags or anything; more looking at their brands; scars; mutilations; tatooes and the like.
Mogue; post some rolls if you like; otherwise will have you take a 10.

Well I'm heading off to find a room down one of the other passages that I can rest and clean my wounds in. Anyone want to come along, we could scout it out and then come back and report to everyone else if you'd like? Bob? Sure could use an extra pair of eyes and ears to keep a look out.
Gloisil starts back down the main passageway towards the side passages. He will check the rooms right below the sand filled room first, and then check the ones on the other side of the main passage. In particular he's looking for a room that has a door that can be blocked and would provide a resting place if needed.
Spot and listen checks as I head back down the hallway -
Spot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Listen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Same checks for Hoot -
Spot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Listen: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, things have been a bit hectic, and I was waiting to see what everyone wanted to do. Just decided to take the reins and move on at this point.

Gloisel; Mogue finished with the goblin bodies and joins you.
Looking at the Knights map; one of the short halls is a dead end; the other goes to various types of machinery and keeps going; he has not explored far.
Which way do you go?
you can hear a buzz coming your way; and see a cloud of sparkly light moving from your last battle to the Battle at the Chains; as can anyone with a spot over 15; +3 if you dont have a light nearby as the sparkly lights glow faintly.
for Hoot; with his much better listen; if you concentrate; you can get more information; let me know if you do Gloisel.
oh; and thanks for taking the reigns; I think everyone was waiting for everyone else hehe.

Gloisil Murigel |

Gloisil was going to check the four rooms in the dead end passage first to see if they can be secured as a place to clean up our wounds and rest. If they would not serve that purpose, then I will start making my way down the other passage.
Sensing the lights coming towards us and also realizing that Hoot can see and hear the same thing, Gloisil concentrates harder on what he is seeing.
"Quiet everyone! There is a light and a sound coming down the hallway from where we were before. I think we better be prepared in case it is another foe."
Concentration check if needed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Desidera Tahn |
Desidera had been examining the extent of everyone's wounds as best she could in the midst of the battlefield. As she was uncertain of their intent to stop anytime soon -- or their safety -- she had not done much but keep track of who was worse off, and with a frown at her dwindling resources, Gloisil receives a touch and a wave of warmth, healing the worst of his wounds.

ok; the Knight can fill you in on the four rooms at the dead end hallway; as that is where he has been staying the night he spent here before he met you all. Most things are buried there but there is space for the party to regroup.
Also, will be easy Mogue to removed everyones track in the sand; scent might be a little bit harder.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Thank you for the healing Desidera, I'm feeling fit now. Although either I'm getting used to this life of battle, or I am getting more resilient, I don't know which."
"Prepare my friends, it sounds as if a swarm of bees is coming this way!"
Gloisil stops and pulls out his wand, and waits for the lights and sound to come closer.
Gloisil is updated to level two now.

Gloisel; I am certain your character knows that this is the fae; but it might be other characters; the cloud of them that decended upon the last group you left for dead.
It is probably appropriate for whomever knows and watched the fae; forget who to mention it as you probably dont want to stay around.
any celt or ranger would know about the dangers of their illusions and vicious tricks and mischiveous ways. They are chaotic and unpredicable like the wind or flowing lava.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Wait a moment, it is just the fae. We should probably stay clear of them, they are a bit unpredictable. Let's just continue to look for a place to rest.
Okay, just waiting for information on the rooms that the knight knows about to see if any of them would serve as a resting place.

Valegrim |

ok; there are four venting rooms; These room had heavy doors; but they are all now in dissrepair; The center of the floors of each of these room have a giant valve in the center. Each of the rooms are about 40x30 foot and the hole in the center with the valve to control air flow is about 15x20; The valves are in various states of open now and hot dry air is flowing up from the floor to the ceiling in two rooms and cold, wet air is flowing in from the ceiling of the other two; the air is roaring at such speed as to make normal conversation impossible; any loose items on your person or held in hand will be drawn toward the flow of air.
The Squire-Knight states he slept in the far end of one of the rooms one night; one goblin found him but got sucked into the airflow. he is not sure how often the goblins come here; but as machines can be heard; this probably goes into some vast dwarven machine.
The end of the hallways is where the Squire states he fell through from the surface; the tunnel is blocked.
The main hallways to the vent rooms is 20ft wide. There is a blood trail going between the steps down to the Great Hall and the first vent room.
Mogue says that something dragged a couple goblins up the stairs and into that room and apparently into the vents.

Desidera Tahn |
Her person was not full of loose things, but Desidera was thankful that her hair was secured by a leather thong. Any of her other less... "adventuresome" ornaments would have been sucked free and lost, much to her would-be dismay at losing them. The air-sucking rooms are a curiosity to her, wondering if they would find a forge once they ventured higher or lower.
The trail of blood on the stairs was what gave her pause. If something was large enough to drag a goblin, then that same something was large enough to give them a reason to be concerned. She paused for a few seconds to try to determine how old the trail was.

After briefly surveying the air venting rooms, Gloisil says, "Well looks as if those rooms would not be suitable. Although if attacked while in one as our friend Elsdyn was it might be an asset with the proper strategy. Lets see if the rooms on the other side of the main hallway would be more suitable."
Seeing Desidera become thoughtful upon sight of the trail of blood, Gloisil says, "Desidera, if I read your thoughts properly at the moment, then I agree and fear that we will encounter more fearsome creatures then the goblins down here."
Gloisil then moves across the main hall and down the other side passageway. Checking first the two rooms on the right and then the larger room on the left.

Tracking is a special skill that is class or animal related; hmm; you could take a 20 if you wanted to study them a while; Mogue would see you doing it and just tell you; "about a day and a half; so 18 hours; if I had to guess; I would say these found our Squire and he killed them; the thing dragged them off perhaps while he was sleeping"
The squire says <this is pre playing background so gm will anwer>:
Sir Ranger, I dragged them up these stairs into that room; question is; why aren't they in that room anymore..."

Sunset listens to the banter of the group. All this talk about bodies being dragged away int ther people sleep has her shifting her stance from foot to foot.
"I do hope them other rooms is safer." She whispers, "But I have the feelin' 'Safer' be a relative thing, down here..." She shifts to stand closer to some one in the small adventuring group.

Sunset; looking around and listening; you can see the walls are cracked; the end of the hall has a big cave in where a sinkhole collapsed, standing here is not safe; not at all. Ok; this door looks like a typical door made of heavy bound wood; long ago it was smashed open; but only the locking mechnism was broken; not the door; there must have been a fight here long ago as there are dried red and green bloodstains all over in front of this door.
The door opens into a 80x40 foot room; the noise gets much much louder; inside the room offset but centered; are two giant piston shafts that move up and down in sequence; one goes up while the other goes down. There are many barrels of mostly empty very thick oily jelly of some kind; probably a lubricant; there are a few old moss covered bones in this room as well.
The pistons have a lot of scratches and marks; but are massive and still moving though probably not as quietly as they once did; they are also dried out and are in need of grease.
At this time; no one has entered; this can all be seen from the doorway.

Sunset |

Sunset walks carefully and quietly (Yeah, a relative term in here I know) into the room. She pokes her nose at the barrels, then looks to the great pistons.
"Ah well, nufin' to it I s'pos." She sighs, slings her x-bow, rolls up her sleeves. (Just a glance towards the party when she started opening buttons and seeing their faces convince her that just rolling up sleeves is enough)
Sunset begins to rub hand fulls of grease upon the pistons. Pretty much just taking handfuls of the stuff, reaching out and sort of letting the pistons move up and down.

Gloisil Murigel |

"Well this room might be suitable, if it were not for the lock being broken. It might serve for a moment for us to clean up our wounds. I fear though that the noise would be too much to allow us to rest much."
"Maybe we should check the other two rooms first before settling into this one."
Gloisil curiously watches Sunset for a moment, and then moves down the hall to the next door on the right. Hoot and himself giving a listen at the door before opening it.

You hear the same noises as last time; but there is a louder sounding grinding noise; this door is also broken and also has bloodstains and splatters on the floor; there are also two doors in like shape on the other side of the hall.

Desidera Tahn |
Desidera was looking for a consensus on what their current plan was, and gave a bit of a bemused smile at Sunset and her actions. Elsdyn and Galen received a questioning look from her, since she did not want to remove her things, just to have to pick them up again. As Sunset continued, she shook her head slightly and began looking around for something to help. Applying grease by hand promised messiness, and at the rate that they were acquiring injuries, an infection was something likely down here, away from the sun...
Sighing, she stopped distracting herself and looked for a better way to put grease on those sliding things, else she'd be forced to play in it.

Gloisil returns to the first room where Sunset is busily applying grease to the pistons.
"Well it looks as if we aren't going to be able to secure any of these doors so we may as well pick a room and make the best of it."
It may be that Sunset's greasing of the machinery will make it a little more quite so we could get some rest perhaps, we could at least clean our wounds and then move on."
"Sunset, do you still have that small cask of beer that I gave to you during our first foray into the goblins lair?"

Sunset nods. "Aye, t'is in me pack with th' rest o' me clobber." She nods and grins, still hapily smearing the greaseonto the pistons, though following Desideras' lead and using a torn piece of rag as the aplicator.

Elsdyn Fedwick |

Elsdyn waits for all members to enter then closes the door behind them. He sits down and lays the weight of his back against the closed door. He adjusts his sword to ensure easy access in his position and relaxes his grip on his shield though he does not take it off.
He looks around the room at the various group members. In a voice loud enough to carry through the room across the sound of machinery.
"I apologies for my recent lack of responsiveness. It seems the last fight did have an unusual affect on me, but it seems everything is well now." Those who observed his looks before, will likely notice that his eyes once green are now gold in color, though nothing else about them has changed
"That we have a bit of time now and by battle and chance have we become comrads, I shall endevor to answer any questions thee might have about me. Please speak thee freely, I shall answer as best I can and take offense at none."

Gloisil Murigel |

"Elsdyn, we have all been summoned on this quest, and I am under the assumption that our meeting is not by chance. While we clean up our wounds and rest, I for one would like to hear whatever you would like to tell of yourself."
"I do note that your unusual quite demeanor after the battle is not the only change that has been made manifest. Your change in eye color is quite interesting. I would also like to hear about that as well, if you are willing tell us about it."

Desidera Tahn |
Desidera turned from her figuring of the machinery to begin stripping off her equipment and gear, breathing a bit easier once the extra weight was off of her. "Now that we have stopped", she began, "let me see your injuries." Since there was the very likely possibility of more injuries in the future, she resolved to use less of her kit this time. If they were all up and moving without much pain, then they probably would not require much attention.
