Thanks, Wabbit for the KoFi. Not to fret, I'm not burning out at all. Actually I've been having a really fun time finding more inspiration for this adventure.

I want to mention by the way that I'm using a simple reputation system for you guys while you stay in Turtleback Ferry. It's just a measurement from -10 to +10, based on character qualities. Some of these you can change, others are much more difficult. Race, mannerisms, and appearance (including displayed religion) are mainly what are being measured right now. Things like your deeds in Turtleback, and who your friends are, will change things as we go along. The higher your reputation, the more people will try to help you. The lower, and the more likely they try to hinder you or run you out of town. You get bonuses or penalties on skills like diplomacy, bluff, intimidate, and sense motive.
So far one of you is at Tier 1, one of you is at Tier-1, and the rest of you are neutral.
Oh and Savage Outcast removes racial penalty. So our Gathlain has a flat +0 on the race end of things.

Yikes, Erastil’s church looking a lot like Christianity there. Hopefully no one minds if I say that that makes me uncomfortable. I’m not Christian myself, and seeing it in a game like this is kind of... uh... dissonant and uncomfortable.

It's odd. It doesn't bother me but I do think since it bothers Kemras it should change. There should be little reason the visuals and rituals couldn't change especially since it is not integral to the story.

I'll hold off on posting in case anything changes drastically.

Echoing what Cleo said. I'm not bothered by it, (though do agree it feels a bit dissonant), but I also agree that we should change it for Kemras.

Yes I think since it's bothering Kemras something should be done. We could put it in spoilers and keep Kemras out of it, we could skip past it, or we could rewrite it. Which would Kemras prefer?

I'm also not Christian, I just have a fascination with medieval european history, and saw some similarities between Erastil and small town Christian churches.

I would prefer rewriting it - not that I disagree there are similarities between Erastil and small town Christian churches in principle, I feel like imitating some of the specific practices are going a bit too far.

References to trinitarianism, baptism, etc. are all dissonant and discomforting to me. Things like that. Having it fulfill a similar role to the medieval church in a small town seems logical to me (though there's no external authority in Erastil's church, canonically). Indeed, it does things very similar already.

At least, that's my take on it.

Ah, the joys of being a skill-monkey. Where you get a 27 on the roll of a 3. That said, I almost feel bad with how many mechanical widgets and skill bonuses I get. The fact that I'm not losing inspiration uses for any of the rolls I've made yet feels like cheating somehow. I know it isn't, but guilt can be a funny thing.

I blame not playing mid-level games that often.

Yeah, as I read the book (anniversary edition), I can easily tell it was designed back when Pathfinder was a simpler time. Core races and classes only, core feats only, most DCs are 15 and under, most NPCs are built with roughly 15 point-buy, high magic setting but low magic items. Most of the monsters are quite basic, and a ton of them fight solo. So I find it a bit challenging to properly balance.

I don't consider it cheating. I get to play the same game when I rewrite enemies, and I get to tailor them depending on your abilities. We play this metagame where I'm tailoring things to be challenging for the group. Not OP, nor UP, just a challenge (with the occasional slaughter for feeling powerful). The trick however is to keep all the PCs on a relatively equal footing, otherwise what I design may be trivial to some PCs, and lethal to others.

I'm grateful that the Hell's Rebels AP I'm running came out when a lot more was there, 'cause it helps me to not need worry too much about that stuff. I hope.

I'm running a Hell's Rebels game here, which Cleo is part of. They're missing occult stuff, but the hybrid classes are uses on rare occasion. I still see a lot of solo fights, but I also see significantly more social encounters, some traps and puzzles, and less DMPCs. My difficulty with Hell's Rebels is not so much about balancing the encounters, it's more about ensuring that the story is cohesive. It's fine if you don't put much thought into it, but if you zoom out for the big picture and ask "why" a few times, it kind of just falls apart. Still a great game, but I never run anything completely as-written.

I mean, eventually. There's not an immediate IC reason for the Shield to give him access to them, given that he's someone they've just met, and actually don't know he's capable of magic at all. xD

Yeah those journals are long gone. I know Wilhim copied out one of them. Anyways, I consider the journals part of Kemras' starting wealth, meaning he got their value in gold pieces when he built his level 8 character.

I was gonna say I could make you a minor Bag of Holding, but the spell level required is pretty absurd given the cost of the item.

If I remember correct the caster level is off for items that have ranks, like bag of holdings have 1 through 4.

I looked up some spells that I though might be useful, but they were all ranger/druid spells. You might find something I didn't consider, though, so don't take my word for granted.

shifted off another level one spell to cast waterproof on Aggah as well. And took lighting lash instead of continual flame, since I forgot about Tink.
