What is charity levels? Not familiar with that. The stuff from campaign trait I guess. I don't wish to cause work, go forth how you wish. I'll continue to deal with it.

So there's a little mechanic in the game where the book wants the GM to track the PC's actions for Gluttony, Lust, Greed, etc. It comes up in Foxglove's mansion, and then I don't think it ever comes up again. Anyways, I decided to change things. I wanted to focus on greed, and counter it with charity. I wanted charitable PCs to be able to gain benefits, because your nemesis is the embodiment of greed. So I've been tracking all monetary charity (and other forms of charity), and will be using it to provide benefits. The benefits in question I'm not 100% sure of yet, but things ranging in the limited wish category of possibilities. I'm also looking at static bonuses to certain stats against minions of Greed.

DM TreasureFox |

So with a rough estimate of items, Furnok is around 29kgp (including charity), Cleo is around 24kgp (including charity), and Wabbit's around 31kgp (including charity). I'm not sure where the discrepancy happened. My guess is Cleo lent money to one or more characters that are no longer with us, and never paid her back. Maybe. What do you guess, Cleo?
Furnok is a little behind, Wabbit's almost on par for level 8wbl, and Cleo is... a full level behind in wealth. The average would come to 28kgp, which is 5kgp lower than level 8wbl.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Exactly how much has Cleo given to charity?

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Yeah, I think, it's time to bow out. A lot of my roleplay energy has been diverted due to finally having an in life group again. I've loved being here, but the last couple of months speak for themselves. Good gaming all. Janis I think, will settle down with Saila, whether he stays settled down is another matter.

DM TreasureFox |

I've created a recruitment thread for our game.
I'd like to stress that no one needs to work their butts off to screen applicants for me, but it would be appreciated. Not an order, not even a request, just an open invitation.

DM TreasureFox |

Hey Wabbit, I've recently been struck with some inspiration. I've been thinking of turning your Serpentine Tattoo into a sort of grappling hook, to be used to climb big enemies. Is this something you'd be open to? I'd of course provide concrete mechanics.
And to Cleo, I have some ideas to help close the wealth gap for you. They'll pop up very early into book 3.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

I'll pop in, say hi, explain that I'm leaving the game for reasons not related to you and that I loved running with you.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Very happy you have a live game going on sir. Good gaming!!!!

That sounds very cool!

DM TreasureFox |

Here's my first draft of the Serpent Tattoo, Wabbit. Let me know what you think of it.
- Once per day, as a standard action, the bearer may have the serpent lunge at a target up to 10 feet away. The bearer makes a ranged touch attack, dealing 1d2 points of magical piercing damage to the target on a success. If the target takes any of this damage, the serpent latches onto the target. If the target is at least 2 sizes larger than the bearer, the bearer can, as a move action, be pulled onto the creature without provoking any attack of opportunity. If the target is at least 2 sizes smaller than the bearer, the bearer may, as a move action, pull the target into the bearer's square. If the bearer is on the ground, the target (regardless of size) must make an opposed Strength check as a free action to move away from the bearer at half their speed. The bearer is then dragged behind the target if the Strength check is successful. The bearer may have the serpent disengage at any time as a free or immediate action. The target can remove the serpent from their body with a DC15 Strength check as a standard action, or speak the command word as a standard action to disengage. The serpent is subject to dispel magic, as well as spell resistance, but not to damage.
The serpent may be used against objects as well, functioning similarly to a grappling hook. The bearer's ranged touch attack must succeed at a DC equal to 5+the object's hardness. Fangs that are improved to bypass the object's hardness automatically succeed.
The serpent has many possible upgrades available to it. It counts as a natural weapon for the purposes of enhancement magic, feats, and abilities.
Extras:
- Improved damage
- Serrated fangs
- Extra reach
- Cold iron fangs
- Silver fangs
- Adamantine fangs
- Phantom fangs
- Poison bite
- Constrictor
- Extra uses

Let me think a bit more on it. I found this(below) which is kinda interesting and a similar idea

Although no less a beacon of hope and justice than other paladins, virtuous bravos rely on their wit and grace rather than might and strong armor.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Virtuous bravos aren’t proficient with heavy armor or shields (except for bucklers).
This ability alters the paladin’s armor proficiency.
Bravo’s Finesse (Ex): A virtuous bravo can use her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier on attack rolls with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons (though if she carries a shield, she applies its armor check penalty to such attack rolls), and she can use her Charisma score in place of her Intelligence score to meet prerequisites of combat feats. This ability counts as having the Weapon Finesse feat for the purpose of meeting feat prerequisites.
Bravo’s Smite (Su): When using smite evil, a virtuous bravo doesn’t gain a deflection bonus to AC.
This ability alters smite evil.
Nimble (Ex): At 3rd level, a virtuous bravo gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC while wearing light armor or no armor. Anything that causes the virtuous bravo to lose her Dexterity bonus to AC also causes her to lose this dodge bonus. This bonus increases by 1 for every 4 paladin levels beyond 3rd (to a maximum of +5 at 19th level).
This ability replaces mercy.
Panache and Deeds (Ex): At 4th level, a virtuous bravo gains the swashbuckler’s panache class feature along with the following swashbuckler deeds: dodging panache, menacing swordplay, opportune parry and riposte, precise strike, and swashbuckler initiative. The virtuous bravo’s paladin levels stack with any swashbuckler levels when using these deeds.
This ability replaces the paladin’s spellcasting.
retraining his 7th lvl feat Agile Maneuvers (which was a mistake choice) and replacing with Skill Focus Climb

Cleo Gingerberry |

Cleo leveled with not much to report. Clerics :)
Aggah got weapon focus longbow.
Retaining... Cleo will retrain point blank shot, but not sure with what yet.

DM TreasureFox |

Thanks guys.
I've finished recruiting our new members. We'll be montaging our way to Turtleback, and we'll get everyone together pretty quick. This will probably happen tomorrow, because my brain is fried. But if you don't hear from me until then, please welcome our new recruits as they enter.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Hello everyone! I'm Sensen, and I'm playing Kemras, your new Thassilonian expert and trap finder. I'm looking forwards to playing with you all!

Cleo Gingerberry |

Hello Sensen/Kemras!!! I'm John, who plays Cleo. She heals and has a goblin as a companion. Thank you for joining US!!!!

Kemras Iuvescanu |

A goblin, huh. I'm surprised. If I'd known you guys were okay with goblins, I'd have made a super-sneaky rogue. Oh well. I'm happy with Kemras. He's pretty great.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Just kind of happened. Kemras does look great, knowledge skills especially have always been a big hole for us.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Yeah. He's a scholar first and foremost (in his mind, at any rate), who happens to be rather skilled with a rapier and very good at finding traps.
If we're using background skills from Unchained, I could get even more knowledge skills! But I'm not sure whether we are - I know my fellow newcomer has them on their sheet, but, well, I don't!
In any case, he can make knowledge skills untrained, which is nice.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Excellent. I've adjusted for background skills now. But yes, I'm happy with Kemras. He'll be fun to play.

Cleo Gingerberry |

And that is what matters most :)
Life without background skills would be sad.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Background skills are just neat little flavorful things. Useful on a scholar type, definitely.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Cleo is a cleric, so yes, life would be sad for her without background skills.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Oh, right, I wanted to reach out to you, Acoris - Kemras is a "worshipper" (inasmuch as he's not terribly devout) of Ng, an Eldest. He'd be quite interested in hearing that a fey creature was in Turtleback Ferry.
If both our characters are there before the rest of the party, do you want to say they know each other?

Acoris |

Oh cool, yeah that sounds good! Ng is a really interesting choice.
(I also edited my skills to scale back trapfinding since that's going to be your thing!)

Kemras Iuvescanu |

I don't mind the overlap, but given how good Kemras is at it, it's probably worth looking into other options. :P

DM TreasureFox |

Acoris is a Gathlain, which is very basically a WoodFey Gnome with wings. Just so you're aware, Gathlain, I will be asking for fly checks.
You and Kemras can certainly know of each other, though I get the sense that Kemras is only a new arrival. Otherwise he'd have already checked in on his friend (which I'll get to in a moment). Kemras has probably only been in Turtleback for a day, compared to when the others arrive. Acoris is the closest to a local, sort of.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Fair point. He's not in a huge rush, but there wouldn't be much reason to linger, unless he'd heard of the gathlain wandering about. Plenty of time to go visit Fort Rannick in the future, I'm sure. What's a few days?
I'm sure nothing could possibly go wrong.

DM TreasureFox |

There is a brief section of Fey stuff in this adventure path, but if you guys stick around and the faith in Ng continues, I may rewrite some later portions to include a bit more fey.
Currently working up the courage to write the montage, then the introduction to Turtleback. To my original PCs, you can buy stuff in Magnimar retroactively if you desire.

Acoris |

I don't mind the overlap, but given how good Kemkras is at it, it's probably worth looking into other options. :P
I think I had a +18 to your +20 which is comparable, but yeah, not worth investing nearly so much, haha.
Just so you're aware, Gathlain, I will be asking for fly checks.
Of course! I imagine hovering most of the time so that I can look people in the eyes, but I doubt I'll do anything outlandish with it. Like Watto but not, you know, a terrible caricature.

Kemras Iuvescanu |

I'm not sure how much faith he'll keep in Ng, but at the moment he has no plans to abandon his patron Eldest. That may change if he encounters some life-changing event, as adventurers are wont to do, but in the meantime... Fey-ness!
Also, TreasureFox, could I trouble you to remove my other alias from the campaign? It is making it somewhat hard to find the game that I'm GMing. xD

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Thanks. That should help.

Cleo Gingerberry |

That was a wall.
Retrained Cleo from point blank shot to skill focus diplomacy, and retrained Aggah from deadly aim to rapid shot

Kemras Iuvescanu |

Uh, other than hiding his dozen-odd holy/unholy symbols and talismans? Hm, I think he'd be someplace that he might be able to hear gossip/pick up news on things, especially related to Fort Rennick and the journey there.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Oh, Acoris. HELLO! Sorry forgot my manners. Thank you for joining us as well.

Acoris |

Oh, Acoris. HELLO! Sorry forgot my manners. Thank you for joining us as well.
That's quite alright, thank you for having me here. :)
