By the way, there should be some kind of event to keep him here, otherwise Vandra and Jeaux will leave. Remember, what he did to his mother is a very sore subject for him, so bringing it up in that kind of situation will escalate quickly. I really hate doing this, but it is what the characters would do.
Personally I've always believed your character is your character. If you want to play, you are the one responsible to keep your character interested. If you don't wish to do that, then that is your decision to leave and shouldn't be pushed on to the GM.
There are thousands of reasons you can come up with for your character to stay. From a pretty redhead, to a kind innkeeper, out of spite of a blonde snarky girl, tired of being on the road, liking how the town came together for defense, or heck cause you like the architecture.
You obviously have a great imagination, shouldn't be hard.
Sorry about being a jackass, just a gaming pet peeve. This is just about the statement about leaving, not about the gaming post. I loved that.
I will now step off my soapbox.

DM TreasureFox |

Oh boy, well that happened.
I'm on board with what Cleo has said. While I do try to make sure each character has a plot hook they can go on, in the end your character is simply your own. I can't constantly dangle cookies or carrots in front of a character to lead them on, nor can I focus only on one person's side plot. This is a group game, and each player has the responsibility to work together, even if it isn't "what their character would do". I'm 95% sure we're all adults here, and I do expect a level of maturity and respect among us all.
There are many ways for a character to tie themself into the adventure path even when their campaign trait has been completed. As Cleo has mentioned, it can be from developing ties to NPCs or PCs, an interest in setting things right, a need to protect the innocent, self preservation, money and greed, and many many more. Ties are limited only by one's imagination.
Character conflict is bound to happen (although it doesn't usually end up in a physical fight, and no I'm not going to ask people to roll initiative). There are ways that both Vandra and Maria can emerge from this as better people, but it requires talking things out, not pushing each other around. Like I've said above, despite "what your character would do", this game requires a willingness to at the very least attempt to work together. So brandishing a weapon, or pushing a PC over a chair is not acceptable. We must talk things out, make compromises, speak our apologies, and respect one another, even if we don't agree with them or fully trust them.
At the end of recruitment, I spent a long time selecting each and every one of you. I would not have brought you here if I didn't see something that resonated with me. I talk about you all to my girlfriend on a regular basis, and we laugh and enjoy your victories (and short comings lol). This is a good group with good people. I wouldn't want to lose any of you.
Finally, let it be said here for future reference. If someone wishes to retire their character or make minor changes, they may do so at any time (although, please ask me ahead of time). If they choose to retire their character, they may introduce a new one (with GM permission) or if they want to, they can leave the game.

I have a question, because the archetype doesn't provide one as far as I read. What happens if the familiar dies? I mean, that's a person, not an mystically awakened animal... kinda.

Korak The Boisterous |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Okay that did sound rather ominous but I didn't mean it like that. I'm honestly just curious. The archetype is built around that concept but provides no rules for if the familiar dies.

Korak The Boisterous |

Hahaha Probably transfers in to another animal, I would imagine. I'd pray for a Chicken because Mother Hen makes me happy.
LOL Okay I can agree with you on that it would be Hilarious but I think Jeaux might lose a bit of her combat ability doing that.

Korak The Boisterous |

Have to look up the specifics, kinda thought, here you go, this is the animal the GM is giving you based on your geographic area.

Alandrian Verium |

OR she may become like a Chicken Cavalier. A nice new helmet and her glaive used as a lance, tucked under her wing, as she charges down her enemies. Also if we have learned ANYTHING from the Disney Robin Hood, Chickens make great busty Nursemaids, so she could change jobs.

Korak The Boisterous |

I think Jeaux might kill you if you suggested that to her. Or at least beat you about the head like a naughty child.

Ladies and gents, I'd like to apologize for my previous post, and thank Cleo for calling me out on it. All I can say is that I had only been away for about 20 minutes or so, and didn't get enough sleep cause the kid had nightmares again. I don't want you all to think I actually think that way, and I typed it completely wrong. I agree, if Vandra and Jeaux stay should be completely dependent upon my own decisions and shouldn't rely upon my fellow gamers. I hope you can all forgive me, for I wish to continue on with you all for as long as I'm able.
As for what happens if Jeaux dies, again, first Vandra goes insane with grief, learns about the Anti-Life equation, and becomes a supervillian with the belief that all life must be ended.

Korak The Boisterous |

Well, to a degree it should depend on your fellow players. If we were all plotting to kill you you'd be well in your rights to leave and nobody would call you on it.

Korak The Boisterous |

I do apologize for that, but seeing that guy go off the deepend was too good to pass up and Maria DOESN'T know you that well.

Cleo Gingerberry |

No problem, and no worries Vandra. Kids tax you in every freaking possible way, none of which are in the manual. I relate completely.
I am very glad you are staying.

Helgarr |

I second that motion about taxing kids ;)
Also people, I apologize for my slow posting rate lately.
Work has hit me with a vengeance after the vacations - I am slowly getting back into pace.

Alandrian Verium |

I also apologize for my posting, I have been going through a bad spot recently, my girlfriend and I broke up and blah blah blah.... Still moving to Canada though, and that is coming up on Monday. I might disappear for a day, no more than two. If I do, sorry.

Korak The Boisterous |

CANADA CANADA CANADA! Yes I am chanting for canada, no I'm not canadian. Though I have considered moving there myself.
Then again I've considered moving to China, Japan, London, Rome, anyplace else in italy, spain, Rio, etc.

DM TreasureFox |

Welcome to Canada, Ali! ;) No worries about the posting rate guys, I know you are all trying and that hard times hit us. Right now I'm doing well, and that's not to belittle any of you. It's just that I've gone through a lot of rough times lately and I'm just happy that things are working out as of late.
As for moving, well I'm interested in both the west and east coasts of Canada, along with France, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Scotland, and maybe Brazil. Yeah I'll go with that list for now. Though to be honest, just getting out of my parent's house would be good.

Korak The Boisterous |

Technically speaking you could say I'm still at my parents house, though in reality I've inherited it, either way I'm still living in my mother's basement. (coolest area during the summer and most insulated during the winter)
If I had my way, my ass would be in China right now. I have two big dreams. One of them is extremely corny as I want to ride the Grand Canyon on a donkey. The other is walk the entire length of the great wall of china. My everest I suppose.

I'd actually be thinking higher myself. I'm trying for something fairly fancy and showy, something for Maria to entertain out of.
Cost 500 gp; hp 30
Traveler Capacity 2; Cargo Capacity 4
Limit 1; Consumption 1
Special Benefit allows fortune teller benefits
DESCRIPTION
A cross between a covered wagon and a supply wagon, a fortune-teller’s wagon is a specialized wagon tailored to house the caravan’s spiritual guide—its fortune-teller. A traveler capable of filling a fortune-teller role cannot provide any benefits to the caravan without this wagon’s supplies.
Basically something like this. And yes, I think I probably should have made Maria a Gypsy to begin with, oh well. She's turning into one now.

DM TreasureFox |

Ohhh okay, I was thinking of a dinky little open wagon to carry loot inside.
Hmm lemme see here. Some of the crafts I can think of that would apply are: Carpentry/Woodworking, Painting, Leathermaking, and Blacksmithing. What do you think? Is there anything you'd add/subtract?
DC would probably be around 20, maybe even 25 if you want to get extremely fancy.

Korak The Boisterous |

Wainwright, now that I'm looking it up, thank you alandrian. I would of course need to outsource certain things, like say the wheels.
We're going to have to custom this a bit, I intend to have smuggling compartments, a fold out stage which in turn has tables and chairs that fold out of it, preferably a bit modular so I can set it for different scenes if I choose to do a play.
And at this point, I'm kinda considering adding to this to turn it into a straight caravan. Possibly a merchant one for a travelling business that the whole party can operate. I think I'll bankroll it myself so I can keep the various wagons and maybe start my own gypsy caravan provided my adventuring career doesn't end in death.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Cleo ain't about to lead a interrogation.

Korak The Boisterous |

You know cleo, I am very disturbed that when I finished writing my post you were after me. I would think you wouldn't show up, not that you'd be after me.

Cleo Gingerberry |

While I am often disturbing, I am confused good sir. You're disturbed I posted or that I did so close to yours?

Korak The Boisterous |

Not quite. When I post, I expect that when it goes through, my post will be the last on the page, yours was. I would not expect it to show up until I refresh or come back to the page

Cleo Gingerberry |

That I understand. We must have posted nearly at the same time. Technology just couldn't keep up.

Helgarr |

Damn you TreasureFox!! I'm going to seriously consider it, after the great work you have been putting forth here.
I already got a lot on my plate though, and want to dedicate enough to all my games, including this one ;)
I'll mull it over.

Cleo Gingerberry |

It is extremely tempting, treasure. I'm having lots of fun, gm and players combined. If nothing else I'll make a character, I'm an addict for making characters, so thank you for feeding my addiction.

Korak The Boisterous |

My main problem is I'm not sure I want to play Hell's rebels. i'll look into it but nothing I've heard really grabs my interest. Of course I'm sure the second I read the stupid description my own addiction will flame up, fuel up? Blaze up? I can't think of the damned expression.

![]() |

Just letting you all know, on my way to my sister's now, so you may not year from me til tomorrow depending on service. If combat advances while I'm unable to post, go ahead and GMP me. All my spells and stuff is on my myth weavers sheet.

Korak The Boisterous |

Helgar 2 things. Your non lethal is anything but, and how do you have a plus ten to damage?

DarkestHeart |

The Rage should only be +1, unless Helgarr is an Unchained Barbarian. Helgarr has a 17 STR so her +2 to STR for raging, only brings her to a 19, which is only a bump of one. But still... +9 to Damage? Helgarr is a MONSTER! :D I'm psyched she is on my side.
EDIT: Wait... No. I am stupid. 17 STR goes to 21 STR with Rage, meaning it goes up to a +2, meaning I can not do Math at all. HA! Keep on killin it Helgarr. And I am REALLY enjoying the Game Fox. Thanks for this.

Korak The Boisterous |

Um,not sure how i was being rude. I commented on her non lethal damage output much like you did earlier and asked about the plus ten out of curiosity.
