Jaiye's ears flattened and her tail twitched, but otherwise she maintained outward calm. "Yes," she said through slightly clenched teeth. "Are they treated with something to keep them from becoming crumbly?"

Lira pouted just a little bit.
"Er, yes, they are. I'm afraid that I don't know much about how it's done though," Liren interjected with a little fake laugh.

Inwardly Jaiye imagined punching him in his smug nose, and then doing the same to his smug sister. Outwardly she sat stiff and straight, with nothing but her twitching tail to indicate her agitation.

"So if I adjust the dial like this, it magnifies the viewing area?" Raelle asked, not waiting for an answer before she started turning dials. Sighru tried to object, but she was going too fast for him to get a proper word in edgewise. He was starting to get a horrified, worried expression as it occurred to him how much trouble he could get in for not stopping her. "Oh, look, Ardiente, there, check it out on the screen! You can see it from here. That's a lot of people. I think I need to set it a little closer though. From here all you can see is the tops of their heads..."

Once the wound is sealed, he swaps the band to Havel's other leg.

"All done! Now this band won't completely alleviate the pain of your wound, but it will help manage it while we determine the best way to get rid of the thing. The twins look a bit nonplussed at this. Things were not going according to plan. So far the group had been frustratingly difficult to bait.

At this point people are starting to line up on the stage and the noise from the crowd is starting to taper off as the ceremony itself is about to begin. An elf dressed in a costume that strongly resembled a tree with autumn leaves stood at the front of the stage and began to sing a traditional elven song, the mournful notes winding throughout the crowd thanks to a magical field amplifying sound coming from the stage.

"Alroight, luv, mind yer step, there's a good girl," the gargoyle said in his gravelly voice as he led Robin towards the front door. He couldn't help but notice her staring at all the kids wandering around and playing on the grounds as they went past and tried to warn her before she tripped on the doorframe. A lot of newbies did that as they first came in. "Ai know it's a bit crazy here, mebbe more than youse is used to, but you'll fit in afore ya knows it. First things first, let's get ya all signed up proper like."

Lang was having a great time playing the game with his new friends. Even more, he hopes that he can get Phaedra to trust non-firebirds.

As he circles around he suddenly notices Ori waving.

I'll be right back. he says to the others as he flies down to see Ori.

landing in front of her he bows, Sifu Reading, Is there something you need?

She smiled. "Yes. A bit of your time. If you'll recall, we have an appointment today for you and Gareth to try and decipher his book," she reminded him gently, nodding towards Gareth who was just behind her, the large book clutched to his chest.

Lang looks over at Gareth, he bows to him, Hello Gareth. are you interested in getting started right away or do you want to join us in our game for a little bit first?

Gareth shook his head. "I've been working on trying to figure out this book for a long time....I'd rather try to read the book first and play later," he said, with barely contained impatience.

Jeran took a deep breath and tried to put words together a little more sensibly than he had been. "Well....I don't think it's about becoming more human. That's...not really the way it works. I don't know. I guess it makes a difference what kind of stuff made you the way you are. I mean, yeah obviously ooze was involved, but you also have a pretty dragonish shape, and dragons are natural shapeshifters, so you might actually have more shape changing ability than you realize if you just know how to unlock it. Whether it's lycans, firebirds, or dragons, the one thing is that none of us are human no matter how human we might look walking around. I don't know if that helps at all, and seriously, you should look however you feel comfortable looking. I really mean that. But if you do actually want to be able to shift at will, then you should probably study species that do. Maybe that will give you some clues as to what makes it happen. It might actually be really helpful research medically speaking too, since most of us don't really understand exactly what makes us able to change either. We just do and it's so normal nobody really bothers to think too hard about it."

Is it supposed to unlock abilities, or make it easier to use them, like the full moon does?" He seemed weird, even for Igni, and she wasn't sure it was a good idea to take the crystal at all, but he also seemed really proud of it. Like not appreciating it would be on the same level as puppy kicking. But she was still wary of him. He was totally unpredictable. Sometimes he would go through crazy risks to help and other times he was totally emotionless, and for the same person too. She didn't trust his mood swings.

"It shouldn't really be hard to use. Just foucs your waterbending through it. You may want to set it in something so you don't have to hold it."

igni holds up his metal covered hand, showing a red crystalline structure in the back of it, about half the size of the back of his hand. Lines of fire run down his sleeves, lining ki paths down his arm to his gem, before he turns up his hand and produces a small flame. "like that."

it's a 2*masterwork catalyst, giving a +4 to waterbending checks when used.

"It's not really that," the skeletally thin girl says, her voice rusty and quiet with disuse. She awkwardly maneuvers away from the crowd, always trying to keep a few feet's distance from everyone except the gargoyle. She absentmindedly twiddles with her ginger braid. "Been a while since I was around so many people." A student comes dangerously close to Robin, and she staggers out of the way, nearly colliding with the gargoyle. "Puts me on edge a little bit. It's hard to stay careful." She shakes her head. "Alright, yeah. That's a good idea. Let's get going then, I guess."

It lands in the upper bowl of the fountain, resting on top of one of the Angel's drums.

Dave considers this and tosses a copper in "how does it work though?"

As soon as the door slides closed behind Havel, Zeppler sighs and stows his datapad.

"Well....he's a very trusting young man," he observes to Ryleh, eyes still on the door. "So what else do I need to know about our young friend out there?"

An elf dressed in a costume that strongly resembled a tree with autumn leaves stood at the front of the stage and began to sing a traditional elven song, the mournful notes winding throughout the crowd thanks to a magical field amplifying sound coming from the stage.

Fei lets his lace continue to observe and gather data across the rest of the festival grounds as he allows himself a few moments to take in the beginning of the ceremony.

Kevin thinks for a minute "hm... I'm not really sure it's not about being human. I mean, think about it, dragons, Firebirds, lycans, vampires, kitsunes, doppelgangers. All of these races evolved individually but with the ability to turn, many of them solely, into a human form. There has to be something about it that makes it desirable evolutionarily." He slips his data pad out and takes some notes on things to research later.

"That's a really good idea. Even if whatever dragon my DNA is from doesn't shape shift, I may be able to use my new research to splice the ability into myself. But I'm gonna have to isolate it in a gene sequence first. Do you think it's something you'd be able to help me out with. Actually, I kinda wonder how many chromosomes you have. You do have a pretty even balance of humanoid form and wolf, so I'm gonna guess somewhere around a hundred. Wolves have 78 and humans have 23."

So in looking this up, I found out randomly that Hermit crabs (the only creature he's isolated a gene I'm so far) have 254, the most in the animal kingdom.
