With some difficulty Aananda manages to squirm around so she's able to put her arms around Vai and gently stroke her hair as she cries.
"There, there....it's going to be alright," she said in a soothing voice. She didn't know what was wrong yet, but whatever it was, her daughter needed her and she would just hold her until the tears stopped. Then she could find out what was so terribly wrong.
Vai cries into her Mom's embrace for a good minute or so, and Aananda's pretty sure her shirt has been besnotted with the amount of snuffling going on, especially as the actual crying slows.
"We did it Mom." Vai says hoarsely, "we saved them. But.."
And then there's the knock at the door, and Ace's voice calling through. Vai glances over at the door, eyes red-rimmed and tears streaking still down her cheeks. She tries to call back to him, but her voice is still too hoarse and the call just comes out as wind...

"Do you want me to let him in or tell him to come back later?" she asked Vai quietly.
Lang is sitting by the fire that Sara made. he glances around at each one present. thankful for his friends. then suddenly his face goes from content to worry rather wuickly.

"I don't think the boss uses typical interrogation tactics. And it's not my place to decide what he deserves. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's the place of the people he hurt. I'm just following orders, miss."
The pillars of water flow down the building and form a set of stairs. Dom after forming the stairs walks up. "I can make a make shift cell for him if you like. I do have a small condition. I don't want this man walking free till he is punished for his crimes. If you can promise that I'm make an ice box for you. Otherwise I'll just freeze him. I can't promise he will survive the cold if I do that."

Not having noticed Hew was gone, being preoccupied with fire building, Sara looks around and whistles to a nearby bird.
She asks it if it had seen Hew nearby.

Returning to the tail end of various conversations, Tryko'Sam motions to the table they'd elected to use, along with a tray holding drinks, as requested. There's a pitcher with some water and ice too, and extra glasses.
"We talking warp space travel now? What's going on? Good call there, Vickory-- I'm with you on that one. Is that your pet? It seems to like you."
Shotgunning the responses, he then fixes up his own drink, and grabs a seat, feet up on another chair nearby, getting comfortable.
"So what all brought you folks to this school? maybe we should start with that as openers? Plus names." His gaze falling on Arthur when saying that last part.
Though suddenly he asks, interrupting, "Oh hey-- did you guys hear what Tybalt whispered from over /there/ to here? He'll be back soon-ish, I figure. Sorry, go on."
"Never before in my studies has it been shown that any machination or magic on the material plane has produced such a result in my studies. It simply boggles my mind the power here which seems to casual." he replies conversationally, beginning to move past the 'disturbed' aspect, and instead seeming to allow the topic to fall into an idle curiosity for the time being.
At the mention of Heaven and Hell, Vare seems to sit up just a touch, though not alarmed, merely a touch surprised. "Ah... so there is some planar study in your world. I can assure you that things would be much different in either in Heaven or the Nine Hells. I have been to both, on occasion, though I did not tarry long in the latter." he continues conversationally, glad to have found a familiar link between their two worlds. "I am not engaged otherwise, no, though... what do you wish to know? If you ask of me, I will do my best to answer."
Smiling at Vare, Maya says casually with a hint of humor, "I'm not quite sure whether to take that as a point of pride, or a statement of fact of the truths of the universe, Wizard Vare. As for the power here, if you mean present in the school thus far? I'll agree with that. There does appear to be an absurd level of potency, compared to my own experience. Then again..." she trails off in thought, briefly looking elsewhere while remembering something.
Then looking back adds, "Well, I was primarily seeking to socialize with a resident, seeing as I've only just woken up and returned from what I thought was death. We did not truly, study, as it were, the Heavens or Hell...s, as you put it. It was more of a religious paradigm or adoption by various cultures on the planet. A means to answer the universal why that goes unanswered-- which, apparently, you have the answers for? Remarkable. Are you religious yourself, or are these places independent of religious beliefs?" It would appear she is, as stated, seeking to just converse.
tarka flickers out of existence to hew's side, looking him over when she shows up.
Mel puts up her hands Please, Everyone Stop with the science stuff! Vicky here is new, she just wants to have some friends and get accoustomed to her new environment.
Mel steps into the middle of everyone. trying to keep all this techno talk quiet.
Hew is laying face down on the ground. Scattered around is various sticks for a fire. He seems to breathing. A scrap is visible upon his forehead. His staff is still in his hand but his grip is loose upon it.

"I..." Vai hesitates. She didn't want her friends to think that she didn't want them... but there was a reason she came here. "I need to talk to you Mom. Can... can you tell him to come back in ten minutes?" Vai snuffles into Aananda's shoulder.
"I'm Tybalt. Thank you for helping her. Thank you. I'll see you around. Welcome to Avalon."
He does a short bow to her and leaves, not able to be in this place full of pain and discomfort anymore.
He appears back in the lunchroom a few minutes after he left.
He scans around and finds the table everyone moved to.
"I'm back. Sorry. A friend in a high place said I needed to help out. I did what I could and now I'm here. What did I miss?"

"I'm more worried about him escaping in spite of that. Powerful or not, Jiminy is not infallible. And while neither is death, I'd prefer we took our chances with the latter." Tyrrin says, her voice thick with cold fury, the black energy wreathing her hand, threatening the Death Tyrrin promised. "Whatever you do, do it quickly. He will not be helpless long."

She's visibly agitated that he hasn't returned, but her discipline asserts itself when she sets out trying to track him from their campsite.

He tries to maintain calm hoping that by him staying strong Midori will remain strong and hopful that everything will be alright.

Mel looks toward Tybs returning. Hey there, Just keeping everyone from overcrowding the new girl here. Vickie, this is tybs, he is like one of my best friends here at the school, tybs this is Vickie and yeah I know she really doen't like that name, but it sounds so much cuter, her actual name is Vickory. I guess I will have to get used to calling you that from now on.
tarka shifts to a nearby tree and sits in the branches, looking down at hew and waiting.
Tybalt gives a short salute to Vickory as he does occasionally to greet people.
"Tybalt. Pianist, explorer, fairy god father, geek, spy, tailor, crafter, at your service. Nice to meet you."
He stands around 4'2" at the tips of his ears(the inside of which are blue) and doesn't seem to be putting any weight on his feet, as if he is at any moment he could leave the floor. Most of his fur is black, with his hand paws being white along with part of his face and the front of his neck. His eyes are Jack Frost blue and there are streaks of the tail end of the color spectrum in his black hair, longer than his fur on top of his head.He has on a white T-shirt, jeans and a few scattered objects of well cleaned jewelry. A white crook much like Egyptian pharaohs were know to have. His tail switches back and forth freely. A hedgehog sits on his shoulder. The area around him becomes a little colder, but there's something comforting about him that you can't really place. Like the feeling of an old friend.

With that Dom nods and starts bending water around the man. Soon the water starts rising around him and solidifying. After only a few moments the box had formed and hardened into a clear prison. Only a small hole in the side was open. From it a tube protruded long enough for the mans arm not to escape.
"Unless he can turn into mist he isn't getting out till some one strong breaks it, or it melts. I could always make it thicker if you wish, but it will already take hours for a fire to melt this." He looked to over everyone around to see if they wanted him to do anymore.

"I knows some fairy's Arthur, real mean bunch when they want ta be, so tread careful lad."

I made lots of soup," she said, pointing to the pot on the stove, "in case people were too weirded out by the sashimi. I think I might need to bring some cooking supplies the next time we visit."
"Well, I guess we'll just have to go into Kuros before we come here next time and pick some up, or to your home town."

"Indeed. The school has many mysteries, and more seem to reveal themselves every day." he muses aloud, obviously thinking of something specific rather than general. While his idiosyncrasies are strange enough, Vare is no great deceiver. Fairly transparent once you've grown accustomed to his particularities. While he is no longer looking around the room curiously as he had been, his gaze does never seem to linger anywhere, and certainly not with eye contact. If Maya were sensitive, she might even consider him lewd.

The Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia and the Nine Hells of Baator are but one of many Outer Planes. I'm... not committed to a single god, personally, but there are many who do dedicate themselves to a faith. Those of strong enough faith may even be blessed with divine magic from their gods. As the girl crys Alreenneesha asks

"What? Why would you want to enter my mind? That is such a personal place. Besides it's not only mine. Where am I? Oh I'm Zilla." She responds while starting to look around. This action however is interuptd as she sees red on her dress and looks at the rest. "Oh no my dress!" She cries out before starting to ball again. "Why would someone kill and ruin my dress? It looked so cute on this body too."
