As you enjoy nappy time during the day and into the night (I think), something above you launches a volley of spikes at your party (this is at night, so you can't see where they are coming from, just above- unless you have darkvision
(as Jean is on first watch with no darkvision, he cannot see this when it attacks, and the spike volley is a standard action doable in a surprise round)

Ulthar takes total defense at the moment til we can find the thing. AC 23 now.
It is a manticore, LE large magical beast.
It has a limited number of tail spikes, but you think it could go for 4 more rounds or so.
Unless you count flyby attack, it has no other tricks up it's nonexistent sleeve.

While I understand you are an elf and all, there is no penalty for sleeping in light armor.
But if you want to be hit, you can be hit (both times in that case).

If only he were proficient with composite longbows. If only. I think Paizo should come out with a more flexible martial class some day. With some scaling kind of... flexible... martial thing. I can't think of a name for it right now.
As there is nobody else with a ranged attack, we'll do the critters turn, and it just flies away. Not in a very straight line, but away nonetheless.
Combat over as it has exceeded the 60' range of darkvision.
