"Well I was just kidding. I figure you guys were from the ship out here, but if a pizza place delivers by ship, we won't complain. " and a bunch of rattling and stuff happens and the door opens.
A half elf female opens the door and greets you. "Hello, I'm Fenella of the cyphermages. We've been trapped up here a bit. You did bring a pizza right?"

Kronug handles the half-elf some jerk and cheese and says with a grin "I was following your lie, but now you have give me a way to retire during my older years: ship-by pizza. Anyway these rations will taste as good as pepperoni special with extra cheese because the topping is we be your saviours. Can we enter and discuss what the hell is going on before we have to kill any more tentaclions or tongombies?"

The look on her face shows that she has trouble following that extremely tortuous logic.
"Right. Whatever. Well yes, come in. I can explain the situation. "

She takes you inside the tower. There are a few other mages present (five total) and they all appear to be rather beat up, and there's a clear look up fear in their eyes.
Two of them are actually either asleep or unconscious on their bedrolls. These two are quite bandaged up.
"We came here five days ago, though it feels like much longer. There were twelve of us, my mentor Fenella was the leader. She didn't make it. Five of us are all that remain. None of us were bit though. That is important. "
"Well we were surveying the island and the meteor impact looking for noqual, which seemed to be more scarce than we expected. Then three nights ago, the tentacle beasts converged on our base here and attacked. We were ravaged, and only a few of us were able to seal ourselves into this tower to keep safe. I've been trying to signal out at night with spells to get someone's attention for rescue. "
"Have you encountered the tentacle beasts? None of you were bit I hope. "
then looking desperate "You have to get us out of here!"

What happens with all these 20s showing up now instead of during the smacking time?
Kronug listens to the scared mage and even pays attention. When Punchy asks him, the Kellid inspects his own torso and scratches some fangs' scars.
"Yup. Totallu. Hunneth percent biten. But who cares? I'm more worried about that zombie french kissing me out of my usual strength. It was a flesh wound."
The man -and the legend- turns to the half-elf again. "Anyway, my mates and I are here as part of a bussiness trip. According to our accountants-" says Kronug as he kisses his biceps -our traitorous former employer owes us a slice of whatever they were dealing with here. But we can't do none of that with a group of sexy wizards bunkered in the tower, so I say we help you. After discussing rewards. Or during the discussion, I mean, we can talk, fight and walk at the same time."

Hearing that you were bit, they all edge back from you. "Everyone we've seen bit has turned into one of those tentacle zombies. I'm not sure it's safe to have you in here. As for rewards, the Cyphermages will be sure to have you well rewarded for rescuing us. We have few enough resources here. " You know the Cyphermages as one of the most powerful factions in Riddleport, massing most of the arcane power in the town.

"We'll make sure that our Cleric Jean here, takes a good look at Kronug to make sure no tentacles sprout from him...Lucky for you we came when we did...We took care of a pack of those tentacle beasts. Hopefully that was the last of them. Like you we're here to explore the island. Anything interesting we should be on the look out for other than the tentacle beasts?"

"We didn't get a chance to explore much before the creatures trapped us in here. We didn't really notice anything else out there. "
"You do have a ship coming back right? We saw the vessel sail away earlier. "

The leader and the rest thank you profusely for the healing.
As they express their gratitude, another of them who is apparently on watch up high in the tower yells out
"Here they come again! There's one hell of a lot of em!"
Samaritha immediately runs to the iron door and makes sure it is security locked and barred shut.

"I hope your friends have some magic available."
He quickly closes his eyes and asks for Besmara's help in the upcoming fight.
He casts Bless again, getting the mages in the area of effect.
He helps barricading the door.
"Go up and see how many they are, and pepper them with arrows!"

Yep. Kronug winks at the cutest female mage and flexes a couple times. The kellid draws his sword and positions himself 10 feet in front of the door.
He then adopts a "come at me, bruh" posse and waits for the party to get started.

Marckus takes out his ax and stands to one side of the door, then indicates for Kronug to take the other. "We'll knock them down as they come through."
And we'll get flanking bonuses and sneak attack
He then grunts and flexes all of his abdominal muscles, as though passing a kidney stone.

Sileth gets to the top of the tower and he sees a veritable swarm of the tentacle critters rushing out of the woods around the ruins.
They come piling into all the buildings looking for prey, eventually setting on the tower as their target.
As the wave of akatas reaches the tower, the beasts begin scrambling up the sides and scratching at its foundations. Luckily, while there are windows on the lower part of the tower, they are shuttered.
The Cyphermages at the first warning all cast spells on themselves, and begin to look quite nervous. Seems that they are not really from the combat branch of that organization.
Sileth, you can start shooting now, you have no shortage of targets.

Sileth kills another climber, but is getting worried as some are getting up to his floor and will likely be coming in the windows after him shortly. He also notices that a bunch of the creatures are scratching away at the base of the tower.
On the lower floors the creatures are breaking through the shutters, but the windows are fairly narrow, so they are unable to get through them this round.
One person per window can engage them, but they will have cover as the windows are close to arrow slits.
