Whenever I see Rin's profile I think of the original image it was cropped from. Steampunk Harsk. I almost made my character based on that pic actually.

If you Harrow the future in the gameplay thread...
Well...
Be careful ;)
These cards really are coming out well. The future draw sounds just like a game of DF - under constant attack, you just keep digging.
I'll add the personality segment into my profile this evening. That should be the only tweak I have left to make at this point. If I get chosen, I have some more gold to spend, but I'm not going to spend it on mundane gear now.

So who here other than myself hasn't spoken with the empress?
Rin, I look at your profile picture and I can just see yourself and Dwunderbran drinking and fighting the night away! Highly amusing in my mind, especially as both of your avatar pictures look so similar.
My character has yet to speak with the Empress. Currently he is held back both by the decorum of not wishing to interupt another's audiance with the noble lady and by her presumed rank and his own much lower caste within his own society... among other things.

Unless you think to cover the still face-down cards and hold them in place. Rogath will thank you very profusely, if you do, and we can do the future.
Haha, well he got most of your attention didn't he? :p

Can't post this in the game play thread, especially considering the time of singing has past, though I may modify it in tribute later if such an occassion arises, but since I don't even know if my character will be selected, I thought I would share an fitting Tolkein quote/song I was always fond of.
“Under the Mountain dark and tall
The King has come unto his hall!
His foe is dead,
the Worm of Dread,
And ever so his foes shall fall.
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong;
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fells like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
-from The Hobbit (Dwarves Battle Song)”

Well, after doing some typing I have to say that Mineko might be the most complicated PC I have ever written. I don't want to force her into a corner by always having someone translate for her, so I think I am going to take a page from the last samurai and let her talk for a bit.. Retying a conversation from three perspectives is a real pain in the butt.

To paraphrase...
"The time is now near at hand in which Robert must probably determine, which Dwarves are to be Missionaries to a distant land or whether they must stay in continents known; whether they are to have any Quest they can call their own; or whether their dreams, and aspirations, are to be cast aside and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness (not being chosen) from which no known efforts will deliver them. The fate of new born characters numbering in the dozens will now depend, under the GM, on the Courage and Conduct of this celebratory feast of mourning -Our cruel and unrelenting GM leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; that is all we can expect - We have therefore to resolve to journey forth to new lands and stories or die."

I was really hoping I'd manage to draw a card for the future that could have implied travel, but that's not what they dealt. Still, "Endure" is a good message for dwarves, as several of you have commented on.
Definitely a fun experiment. I'm going to have to try and work a Harrowing into the game I GM, now.
Here's to hoping that Rogath will have the opportunity to do more Harrowings for you all! ;)

Angrin Thronebearer |

Rob, what was the old dwarf lords profession / class? Vigar is a Stone-Lord and was wondering if his dad was one too?
I believe it was implied he was a priest of Torag of some color, but that doesn't mean very much. I know I'm not Rob, of course, but... I figured I might as well share. :D

Faelar Braegen |

Rob, is it possible to make 1 minor addition to my backstory? It is just what I wrote in my last post in reply to Angrin, I like it and couldn't think of it before. It doesn't change anything about Daelric, nor does it make it more special, just explains his HeartStone ability better.
Well I am off to bed, I have just done an 18 hour shift and am knackered now. Work again in 5.5 hours ... Joy.

Rindovaan 'Curly Stubs' Avarack |

Well, if we both make it to the full game and you put a rank in linguistics to understand him, I'll translate everything for you. :)
@Angrin - Are you from below the surface then? I haven't read your profile in case of spoilers etc. The same goes for everyone else, but Rin is from very far down in the Five Kings Mountains. When the Drow broke up, he was where the first attack hit after the earthquake. Got out though!
