Whenever I see Rin's profile I think of the original image it was cropped from. Steampunk Harsk. I almost made my character based on that pic actually.

Kal'Tos used mage hand to grab several of the face up cards, He thought they were more important.

@Tenro and Gobo Horde.
I ended up using the 7th Battalion as part of my background. Hope you guys dont mind.

Will be finishing my background expansion I. The morning. Sorry work has been killing me rash of lay outs so I have been getting ot and had a migraine yesterday.

Everyone seems to be waiting now... :)

I'm in a lock on celeador. Until he posts I'm stuck.

I think half of us are waiting to see the final part of the Harrowing. Great way to grab everyone's attention by the way Rogath.

If you Harrow the future in the gameplay thread...

Well...

Be careful ;)

Oh you would love my elf diviner then Rob. And almost done with my background tweaks sor.

These cards really are coming out well. The future draw sounds just like a game of DF - under constant attack, you just keep digging.

I'll add the personality segment into my profile this evening. That should be the only tweak I have left to make at this point. If I get chosen, I have some more gold to spend, but I'm not going to spend it on mundane gear now.

Yeah, it's really awesome how well these cards worked.

Yeah that was awesome wosh I had been in on it lol. You should buy the prop its awesome and well done I have to buy a new one mine grew legs at a game day.

So who here other than myself hasn't spoken with the empress?

Rin, I look at your profile picture and I can just see yourself and Dwunderbran drinking and fighting the night away! Highly amusing in my mind, especially as both of your avatar pictures look so similar.

My character has yet to speak with the Empress. Currently he is held back both by the decorum of not wishing to interupt another's audiance with the noble lady and by her presumed rank and his own much lower caste within his own society... among other things.

Why no future Section? The cards so far have been strangely accurate to people/ setting background.

Blame Rin.

Unless you think to cover the still face-down cards and hold them in place. Rogath will thank you very profusely, if you do, and we can do the future.

Haha, well he got most of your attention didn't he? :p

Can't post this in the game play thread, especially considering the time of singing has past, though I may modify it in tribute later if such an occassion arises, but since I don't even know if my character will be selected, I thought I would share an fitting Tolkein quote/song I was always fond of.

“Under the Mountain dark and tall
The King has come unto his hall!
His foe is dead,
the Worm of Dread,
And ever so his foes shall fall.

The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong;
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fells like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

-from The Hobbit (Dwarves Battle Song)”
― J.R.R. Tolkien

that was probably my favorite part of the new hobbit movie.

The Exchange

Well, after doing some typing I have to say that Mineko might be the most complicated PC I have ever written. I don't want to force her into a corner by always having someone translate for her, so I think I am going to take a page from the last samurai and let her talk for a bit.. Retying a conversation from three perspectives is a real pain in the butt.

Yeah, but it looks pretty spectacular. xP

YES YOUR ALIVE now I can get out of the time lock lol.

The Exchange

Sorry those who have been waiting on me. Had two active games I GM that I needed to post for as well as lucents other game.

Its kool I'm just all hoped up on sleep at this point

To paraphrase...

"The time is now near at hand in which Robert must probably determine, which Dwarves are to be Missionaries to a distant land or whether they must stay in continents known; whether they are to have any Quest they can call their own; or whether their dreams, and aspirations, are to be cast aside and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness (not being chosen) from which no known efforts will deliver them. The fate of new born characters numbering in the dozens will now depend, under the GM, on the Courage and Conduct of this celebratory feast of mourning -Our cruel and unrelenting GM leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; that is all we can expect - We have therefore to resolve to journey forth to new lands and stories or die."

Dakún? You know, as amusing as that is... It doesn't help my nerves!

... I jest, I jest. I am a little nervous, but not at all nearly as much as I could be. xD

Bring forth thy judgement! I've been ITCHING to know who's going on this expedition; it's gonna be a wild ride no matter who gets strapped in.

*dozens of pairs of beady Dwarven eyes stare narrowly at Rob.*

Weeeeeellllll???

You know, Maven, we have at least five and a half hours. :D

Haha, well Rob said he might be done later on Sunday even. We may be waiting a while but Rin also stares at the GM in a fourth wall breaking game. :-P

Oh, will you look at that, it's the 19th already! :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In a twist none foresaw, he will end up selecting twelve recruits...

...from a different game's recruitment thread. Sorry guys, better luck next time!

Totally!

That would be funny as hell and cause a rash of iC emo dwarven angst.

I was really hoping I'd manage to draw a card for the future that could have implied travel, but that's not what they dealt. Still, "Endure" is a good message for dwarves, as several of you have commented on.

Definitely a fun experiment. I'm going to have to try and work a Harrowing into the game I GM, now.

Here's to hoping that Rogath will have the opportunity to do more Harrowings for you all! ;)

Rob, what was the old dwarf lords profession / class? Vigar is a Stone-Lord and was wondering if his dad was one too?

LOL! Poker dice? That's Yahtzee and you know it! Course, maybe Yahtzee is an evolution or rename of something else. who knows.

I believe it was implied he was a priest of Torag of some color, but that doesn't mean very much. I know I'm not Rob, of course, but... I figured I might as well share. :D

Yahtzee for money!

The Old Dwarf Lord's profession was Master of Mint.. and no I don't mean the flavor.

but i like the flavor...

Okay boss.

Rob, is it possible to make 1 minor addition to my backstory? It is just what I wrote in my last post in reply to Angrin, I like it and couldn't think of it before. It doesn't change anything about Daelric, nor does it make it more special, just explains his HeartStone ability better.

Well I am off to bed, I have just done an 18 hour shift and am knackered now. Work again in 5.5 hours ... Joy.

I think Dolgrin's activity is essentially wrapped up. He'd just be making s,all talk with whoever wanted to. And, working my third 12 hour shift out of 4 today Daelric, I know how it is. I'll check back in at lunch.

I have a line in my head I have been wanting to shout out for a while now, but haven't found the right situation. IF I get picked I will be able to use it, if now then I will have to find a different campaign to make a Dwarf in :P

Daelric all done, the last to leave.

I'll post my final gameplay entry after work unless things finalize earlier than that.. Hectic day at the hospital.

Ye gods, Rin. I used to be able to understand your gibberish, but now it takes effort! Did you change it? *Suspicious*

No, I'm not really serious.

Haha! I pulled in a few of the ways I worded things when I was still trying to work out how he'd speak. :p

Need to take the cost out of my starting funds for the sword I offered to Hraggir though! It's not masterwork like my own....just very nicely crafted haha.

Yeah. I would have given them something, but I forgot, and hey, I figured it suited the Deep better anyways. xD

No offense Rin, but I gave up on even trying to read your speaking parts. I tried but just got headaches. Seeing as Daelric couldn't understand you anyway and required a translator it didn't matter matter too much.

Well, if we both make it to the full game and you put a rank in linguistics to understand him, I'll translate everything for you. :)

@Angrin - Are you from below the surface then? I haven't read your profile in case of spoilers etc. The same goes for everyone else, but Rin is from very far down in the Five Kings Mountains. When the Drow broke up, he was where the first attack hit after the earthquake. Got out though!
