Or you could buy your own gear, and let the crafters make the booze?

Or do both.

Good motivation for saving SOME of your gold, in case you ARE selected for the final party. Once done, then collaborating with our master stuff-making people will go a long way.

Yeah.

Meh I have it spent already I just hope rob will let me go back and respend some of it. I just saw the thing that said he would let the crafters craft for other people.

The Exchange

Work continues to grind away. I'll be putting up a post tonight =D thanks for jumping in Quint. For the others players. I want you to know that if I am accepted I plan to slowly grow my character outward. She won't allways be arrogent. She's just *very* untested and falling back on her training and herritage.

Sounds great! :D

I think you and I have a similar plan, Cel. Maven's shy, and still working on getting comfortable around crowds and folks. Her lawful aspect is one of simplicity and routine; hence the pounding of a hammer and the simple colors of weapons and armor are more stabilizing than the flood of colors and sounds of a Dwarven funeral.

Epic choice of Eidolon, by the way. Don't know how far ahead you planned that choice, but it's extremely juicy plotmeat in this case.

Heh, no worries Celeador, I think our posting frequency is a little more compatible at the moment :p (I do normally post more frequently on the days I don't work, but so much to read atm :p)

Quint will also have to grow less fussy if accepted. Being stuck on a boat with 200 dwarves even he might end up smelling (a little) like dwunderbran. Unless he can convince the alchemists to keep making him cologne. Hmm...

Angrin still doesn't get why all the surface dwarves insist on stinking themselves up. I think this will remain a character trait of his.

Ouch a boat of dwarves smelling like Dwunderbran ewwwwwww. Quint my sorrows to you.

@celeador I get you and totally understand Magnus just doesn't like the high and mighty hoitytoityness your giving off . Even if he feels compelled to give you his and Kols condolences lol.

The Exchange

@Maven: I have several ideas regarding my Ediolon. Part of it was inspired by Jelani and the other by Lucent who is in my campaigns. I wanted an Ediolon to have an eastern feel yet remain unmistakenly linked to dwarven culture. I am a big fan of the Dresend series and I love mouse. Also, Foo Dogs were typically found in Chinese palaces so I thought that fitting. I don't know if it will ever happen, but I would like as the campaign to goes on for Komainu-Kun to regain some of the memories. Eventually he will tell Mineko that infact their people were betrayed by Mineko's brother and that the brother still lives. However for his betrayal Komainu's mantle was passed on Mineko rather than her brother. I also thought about the Packmaster archetype so that she could have a pair of foo-lions but I thought that was a bit over the top. Once I saw that there was a Foo-Lion avatar I was hooked.

Quint: Glad you could understand. I don't want you to feel like I am ignoring your post.

Magnus: I understand. Mineko is rather standoffish.

Cool I just didn't want you to think it was personal or something. Had that happen to me on here once been a bit wary ever since.

Yeah, cel, I'm still a bit amazed at how your character came together, and it makes me question my own writing, not just here, but in all my previous works. Feels rather generalized by comparison to yours. But that eidolon just begs to get us both selected.

Soon...sooooooon.

You know just looking at who is currently posting ie has posted in the last 48 there are only 12 of us maybe rob could take us all lol.

I keep trying to shake the idea that he's going to blow us away on closing day and say something like:

"Well, guys, it was a hard choice. So many excellent applicants, it was INCREDIBLY hard to pick 8."

"So I picked all of you. SURPRISE!"

Can I just say I love the range of dwarven accents we have here? It's hilarious.

Magnus keeps slipping a side effect of the booze and the character wanting to write himself.

@Maven that would be awesome but I think we have ran away parts of the competition by sheer volume of posts. Some of them were awesome and I hate they haven't posted anymore.

Shan't scare me away with sheer volume of posts! I love reading. :3

Wishful thinking I reckon! :p

I've created all I can this week and am just hoping now.

Created a rough copy of my back story, and when the weekend hits (no doubt after the selection process), it'll all make sense and probably consist of three Microsoft Word pages.

I'll post something tomorrow to cause a scene once more, hopefully sparking more convo.

By rights Rob shouldn't be looking at any posts after the cut-off. I'm just posting for the fun of it now!

The cutoff was only for character entry, not the cutoff for roleplaying. Some people came in late. We still have until the.. 19th? to continue roleplaying.

Same here lol. And your the top one of us for posting doc.

Could be. Just havin' fun here.

Logem, you've clammed up on me buddy. Came over to chat and now you went all silent on me. O.O

Sorry! Was up far too late last night and as a result, my day started much later today. I'm going to be getting a post up shortly :P

I'm still here, just waiting on Celeador. Not trying to rush you though man, take your time. I'm not too worried about getting in a bajillion before the 19th.

You weren't one of the ones I was talking about lol. I ment the ones who have said a peep since sunday or even further back.

Well, the beauty of this particular recruitment is that the fun began long ago. Even for those who don't make it, it'll still have been quite a ride while it lasted, and that's worth quite a few good memories. Some epic posts so far, by anyone's counting.

Very true I would love for us to make 1k by sunday but I just can't see it happening.

I dunno...that depends on whether someone accidentally or otherwise posts something that sparks a whole new scene. Happened a few times now, we might be surprised.

Well, this is going to be nervewracking. But it may spark that whole new scene you just mentioned... Or it might be a total dud. I've never actually tried to do a Harrowing before, although Rogath is quite practiced. Not all that experienced (he's only 2nd level), but practiced.

My posting has dropped over the last couple of days due to work and then emergencies at work. I have put a post in, but now I have to go to bed. It has just gone 1 in the morning, I have work at 7 and don't finish until 2. I hope that something will happen to get me posting again ... I shouldn't say that, now I am expecting for someone to hold me down and pour alcohol down my throat!

Maybe I should go and speak to the empress? I have been trying to avoid her mostly, Daelric wouldn't know what to say.

Rogath, I was just thinking the same thing. Nothing like a dice roll to shake things up. Probably best to figure out the harrow rules, do some offscreen, offsite dice rolls, and let the inspiration do its thing.

Daelric is up for a reading once someone tells him what the cards are and what they can do.

@Magnus: I saw your post, and I will probably do an inner monologue for it. As a western dwarf you're absolutely right. Mineko is earning no friends by how she is acting here, and it *is* borderline disrespectful. However from her standpoint, her attendance at the funeral is one of the highest honors she can show. She *IS* after all the Summit Child of the White Mountain Peaks and Granite Empress. I wish you had stuck around. She would have been very confused by your words and I would have liked to play up that interaction.

Well tell him to wait and I will retconn it. Lol I don't mind.

And I know as I player I think your spot on with your character its just I can't see it. Although I might be a bit meaner to her yet lol. He doesn't hate her he just doesn't understand her.

Maybe Dwunderbran will saunter over long enough to let a fart ripple down his pant leg before trying to ride her eidolon.

Heh, that was a fun post to write. Maybe Mineko can direct those questions in Quint's direction instead Celeador :)

I need to get around to statting my familiar.. gonna do that right nao.

The Exchange

I'm looking forward to writing that reply post Quint. It should be fun.

Heh, if Magnus does decide to come back over I foresee Quint getting himself into trouble :p

Nah cause magnus thinks everyone has a right to speak their mind. As long as its not lying or oath breaking he won't care.

@dwunder do it I dare you.

@celeador like I said have her tell him to wait its just tiny retconn no biggie.

It's weird how characters get away from you sometimes. I really didn't intend Quint to be quite such a pompous windbag, but there you go :p

The Exchange

@Magnus: Sounds good, When I post tomorrow I will rope you back in for a conversation with me and Quint.

Edrukk chooses not to wash off the smell of gunpowder. its a good smell, after all

I apparently smell like miasma and death. Hopefully that'll scare things away in the Darklands.

:D

Also, Rob, do you mind if I switch out my familiar's base feat, Lightning Reflexes, for Throw Anything?

As it states in the Animal Archive:

Quote:
Feats that are meant for familiars can be switched out for a familiar's default feats (as listed in the familiar's statistics) if the familiar meets the prerequisites. Such feat replacements must be made when the PC first acquires a new familiar, and-like all new feats from supplemental sources-the new feats should be approved by the GM before being integrated into play.

My familiar will quite often drop things on peoples' heads (As seen in the funeral feast when he was dropping booze on Talon's head), mostly alchemical items, but sometimes other random things. Despite being Tiny, he has a strength of 6, so he can carry surprising weight for his size. Eventually I might get him Muleback Coords so he can carry more stuff and drop bigger things on people's heads. :3

Also, here is the animal's base stat block:
Rhamphorrhynchus

Working on his *Exact* stat block after becoming a familiar now.

Y'know, if we time this right, we just might bring this funeral to a perfect conclusion right at the final close of recruitment...how epic would it be...
