Also, Rob, do you mind if I switch out my familiar's base feat, Lightning Reflexes, for Throw Anything?

As it states in the Animal Archive:

Quote:
Feats that are meant for familiars can be switched out for a familiar's default feats (as listed in the familiar's statistics) if the familiar meets the prerequisites. Such feat replacements must be made when the PC first acquires a new familiar, and-like all new feats from supplemental sources-the new feats should be approved by the GM before being integrated into play.

My familiar will quite often drop things on peoples' heads (As seen in the funeral feast when he was dropping booze on Talon's head), mostly alchemical items, but sometimes other random things. Despite being Tiny, he has a strength of 6, so he can carry surprising weight for his size. Eventually I might get him Muleback Coords so he can carry more stuff and drop bigger things on people's heads. :3

Also, here is the animal's base stat block:
Rhamphorrhynchus

Working on his *Exact* stat block after becoming a familiar now.

That is fine by me, yeah.

I notice Rogath is a Deep Delver. Is he from Varrok's Deep? Angrin might have hear of him if he is.

I mentioned this above, but it probably got lost between other posts - Rogath is from a smaller border post a day or two away from Varrok's Deep. So he's been there, but not on a regular basis, and not for the last 20 years or so.

Aha! Yeah, so they probably wouldn't know of each other.

Huh. Just gonna add a bit more mechanical and story detail to Angrin's tale. Should make him more interesting to play, too.

EDIT: Added some stuff to his personality, and a tab for his nemesis.

At work, just kinda watching for posts around me to contribute to gameplay thread because I don't wanna interrupt the card reading over in the other group.

I'm going to start going through the applications tonight and begin the long process of evaluation and review. I won't be doing a hard mechanical review of everyone, just an overview. Once I choose the final party, I will do a more in-depth audit of the character sheets to make sure everything is in order and make any recommendations/comments.

I hope to have a final roster decided no later than Sunday evening and to get started sometime during the week next week, once everyone who makes it in has made any last-minute adjustments or the like.

I just want to take this moment to say how thrilled I am to have so many awesome players vying for a spot in this campaign, and to those who don't wind up going on the expedition, I really hope you show up to any future recruitments I do, because you're an awesome lot of players!

Building a new Dwarven kingdom, BRB.

Haha. :P

That sounds great, Rob. Looking forwards to seeing who gets selected, but whomever does so will be awesome, no doubt. Also, can we get a final roster of those who are in the running? I would do it myself, but I'm on my phone.

There is one a couple pages back provided by Mr. Vulgarbeard, if anyone finds themselves missing from that list (I did a head-count myself to double check, but better safe than sorry!) let me know.

Good luck reading through the gameplay thread.

Aha! Excellent. *Goes to check that.*

I fixed my backstory a little, mostly just correcting errors and adding a bit more doubt.

Robert, do you intend to have Vigar make any comments / appearences before the end of this recruitment period?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

He'll have some closing words on Friday to end the "funeral" portion of the gameplay thread. Beyond that it is safe to assume he is neck deep in political, familial and religious obligations that are boring him to tears.

Do you mind, Rob, if I say that Vigar's father, as master of coin, ensured that Varrok's Deep was well supplied (when he could afford to do so)? It would be a reason for Angrin to be at the funeral, and a reason for him to be loyal to Vigar.

It would also tie in nicely with why Angrin tolerates the oddities that surface-dwarves have, rather than shouting them out for it (*cough*Magnus*coughcough*).

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

That is certainly a thing the Skuldafn family would do. So yes, I think that is quite appropriate.

Awesome, added.

Read about five pages of the gameplay thread so far today. Every time I think I have a better idea of who to pick, someone will knock a fantastic post just right out of the park and I'll put a little check mark next to their name and... man. This is going to be so hard.

I have decided one concession, however. I'm going to pick a number of dwarves to keep in "reserve" (I'm not sure how many yet) so that if the campaign loses a few dwarves to attrition, additional dwarves will be able to trickle in. There will be a very good story explanation for this as well, but that's... spoilery for now ;)

Ooh, I like this idea!

I know what it is. Migrants! No Dwarf Fortress can survive without migrants to replace the constantly dying dwarves!

Migrants... to Arcadia? >_>;; You do realize that the first group is taking a huge risk, right? :P

You obviously haven't played Dwarf Fortress then, when migrants will show up to your fortress even if you embarked on a terrifying glacier where the dead reanimate, it rains elf blood, and the occasional evil mist comes around that turns anything it touches into evil husks that hate the living.

The migrants will still come.

Oh, I realize that. I was just wondering how much this will be like Dwarf Fortress. xD

Robert, having a number of backups for PBF games is an excellent idea. I don't think a single game I have been in has managed to avoid at least one player needing to DMNPC'd or replaced.

We shall see indeed.. if its anything remotely like DF, I expect high casualty rates. XD

Well, yes. xD

Anybody gonna react to Rin or not really? He's in plain sight and as convo has only been between he and Magnus, I typed that to get some more character interaction going.

I was honestly at a loss as to how Maven would interact with some of the others, as she's not only a shy shut-in, but has little outside experience to spark a conversation most of the time. She's trying to come out of her shell, but I don't play a lot of low charisma characters, and I tend to hold myself to somewhat tight standards when roleplaying my ability scores, lol.

Yeah, Angrin's currently fascinated by the good master with the Harrowing deck. Otherwise he'd be wondering who put the extra alcohol in Rin's drink.

I got you just woke uo sorry I'm late lol.

Nevermind I'm still in time lock waiting Celeador

Man, there's no telling which way these backstories and personalities could interweave, depending on who's picked.

I love the way that most of us have introduced ourselves to each other and have struck up a friendship. Whoever is picked is going to be lucky and I am curious about the final team.

Could you imagine Dwunderbran, Dr Logem and The Granite Empress travelling together? :P

Yikes. And Maven stuck in the middle playing referee? Hilarity ensues.

Faelar Braegen wrote:

Yes. Friendship.. Uh huh. :P

Haha. That would be fantastic. I would follow the thread just for the giggles.

Yea, I think with so much going on, the only option is to do things that might create curiosity or interest with the other players, so that's how I've been doing it, as well as posting in here that there's something else to react too. :p

@Daelric - Well. Bonds have been formed. Not sure about friendship just yet. That'll take a while, but still, we've all had I think at least one interaction. :)

So who here other than myself hasn't spoken with the empress?

Rin, I look at your profile picture and I can just see yourself and Dwunderbran drinking and fighting the night away! Highly amusing in my mind, especially as both of your avatar pictures look so similar.

Well...Rin has no issue with anyone other than a slight dislike for the Empress due to stealing the show from the dead and expecting people to approach her, when the only respects being paid should be those to Hraggir in his mind. :)

Also, heads up.

Just about to go to bed but a post will no doubt cause a stir for every Dwarf in the room with what Rin's about to do.

Faelar Braegen wrote:

Talon hasn't. He's under the impression that she's here to ask for a favor of some kind and he doesn't feel he has anything to offer.

So, more modesty than any kind of dislike.

Dolgrin hasn't as he figures she's a bit over his head in terms of seniority and doesn't wanna risk ruffling feathers in high places.

i'd interact with ya more but reading your accent makes my eyes bleed

The Exchange

I think its funny that the cold blooded killer Dr. Logem seems to be more liked than Mineko is.

I haven't either, but that's as much due to late entrance as anything else.

Celeador wrote:

Well, Dr. Logem is a friendly chap, as the Original was. Not to mention that they don't know he's a cold blooded killer. I'm sure he'd be far less liked if they knew his story. :P

Only reason Dolgrin is talking to him is because he DOESN'T know his story. Haha

Charismatic mutant is much more likeable than condescending empress. Not that the empress wont come around one day, or the mutant wont murder one of us in a fit of chemical-induced insanity. who knows? hahah

Y'know, I seriously wonder about these cards. Drawing The Bear in the "negative present" slot, when I had to work in Rin's whirlwind...

I'm sad I don't get to do the future section, but that was too great an irony to pass up. And I still have one card...

Why no future Section? The cards so far have been strangely accurate to people/ setting background.

Blame Rin.

Unless you think to cover the still face-down cards and hold them in place. Rogath will thank you very profusely, if you do, and we can do the future.
