Morning guys! I just got into work, but I see that I Minkeo got some responses and I will follow up as soon as I get a moment.

@Dakun: Personnally I like the idea of a dwarf ninja. Perhaps look at the Scorpion clan from the L5R setting for ideas. They put the honor of the emperor over their own personal honor. Willing to work in the shadows the silence for the betterment of the empire. Living with the shame of being see as outcasts by their people while internally they were lauded by their "king" for the dutys that they did that noone else could know about.

@ Celeador - I don't dislike the idea of a Dwarf Ninja, it just didn't work with the feel I was trying to convey with my character and the more Egyptian/Babylonian/Jewish mashup I've tried to create. I did briefly consider a shadow of the jungles and playing a dwarf from the Expanse (probably would have been about as detailed by Paizo), but I had too much trouble thinking of a link to the five kings.

Crab clan was exactly what I was envisioning when I mentioned dwarf ninjas. But I do love me some L5R flavor.

Love me some Crab Clan (my main profile alias is actually derived from my first significant and longest played L5R character: Hida Kagehiro). Celeador's Yamauchi clan were throwing off huge Kaiu vibes (imo) as I read the writeup.

five rings for the win. Hope somebody starts somethin' up with a rokugan kinda flavor here. Maybe I'll finally find the inspiration to do one myself, who knows.

Crane clan. Iajutsu master. Roll initi--SWISH!--nevermind, you're dead.

*nod* dwarves have similartys to the crab clan.

Yeah, on the topic of dwarf ninja, I totally would have made one if I'd known Celeador was making an Empress. xD

I have never had the opportunity to play Legend of the Five Rings, so my knowledge base on these clans is rather limited. A Dwarven Samuari would be very interesting as well. I can definitely see that blending in well to the more typical 'Dwarven' society, though it does work a little better if the dwarves are more feudal. You don't really see much in the way of lower titled lords from what I have read (ie, dwarven counts, dukes, etc), though I suppose that is probably because dwarven realms are usually focused on one massive mountain fortress and doesn't really have land ownership divisions.

@Lucent: When reviewing my math, you will see that each of my followers as well as my Eidolon have a +1 to will that seems to not be accounted for. This is due to my Natural-Born leader trait.

Woo!

Seconded! Already got a character thought up in my head for a WotR campaign: a LN Chelish Human Cleric/(Un)Holy Vindicator of Asmodeus. Instead of a "Good vs Evil" mentality, he has a strong "Law vs Chaos" mentality, and as such, hates Demons just as much as a Paladin would, but for different reasons. And since he isn't evil (Even if he detects as it thanks to his god), he can technically work with a paladin! Even if the latter probably wouldn't be too fond of it.

Thanks for pointing that out, I probably would've been bashing my head against a desk trying to figure that out ;)

@Lucent: *nod* your welcome.

@Dakún Rabbúhamash: Great concept man. I love the idea of a middle eastern flavored dwarf. I though that the Legacy of Fire AP never got enough love, and there was a *ton* of flavor there.

Hey Lucent, if you want, I could go Dwarven Ninja later on. Then, I can be the Dwarven equivalent of:

Dr. McNinja

Won't even need to change much really! :P Though.. he's not evil..

From what I've read of Legacy of Fire, I like it and always wanted to play it. I tried to gather up more information on the Pahmat, the Ouat, and the Desert Dwarves of the shattered range by skimming through LoF, but I couldn't find anything. I basically fabricated everything off of the sentence or two that is repeated on the wiki's. In fact, all evidence in my mind seems to indicate that the Ouat splintered off from the Pahmat at one point.

Dakún Rabbúhamash wrote:
Quint Bonechisel, I like your backstory, having read it definitely adds to your character's reactions in the game play thread.

Thanks Dakun :) It's making participation in the funeral a bit difficult, but if he makes it into the Quest that should sufficiently get him out of his comfort zone and force him to deign to cooperate with whoever else is selected (even Dwunderbran... probably).

Dwunderbran takes a little getting used to. Eventually, though, he'll stop seeming like the stinky madman that everyone avoids and be more like the stinky, crazy uncle that everyone avoids.

heh, well that's still plenty reason for Quint to avoid him, but I'm sure they'll work something out :p

Rob, I've just updated my profile. Changed one of my spells, and spent the rest of my coin. He now has a mule to lug around all his equipment and other sundries so he don't have to :) I shall call him Doug.

Hey Doc looks like you also have to be a druid lol.

Nawww, it's just a trained deinonychus, not an animal companion. :P

Isn't it amazing what concepts can emerge once the question of race is already answered? Think there's maybe a handful of classes not represented here; we've covered the gamut quite nicely, I think. Going to be quite a party, no matter who gets picked.

Yeah. I think we're only missing a cavalier and maybe a witch, of the base classes? The core classes, I think one of each (at least). We don't have a ninja or a samurai, either... but hey, we're still going to see how it goes, yeah?

Rob, I know you wanted us to go with your character sheet layout, but is possible to put a couple of spoilers in there?

Such as Traits, then details on what they do.
Attacks showing normally, but then adjustments (such as VS Goblins) in a spoiler?

It is just I look at it and even I am getting a tad confused right now, just want to neaten it up a little and it will still be easy to navigate.

Yeah that's fine.

Thanks Rob, it has been adjusted. Let me know what you think and if it is too awkward to read now please.

I have also adjusted my backstory slightly, explaining why the priest was there in the first place.

How detailed would you prefer a backstory to be btw Rob? :)

Oh dear.
I totally didn't realize we had an assigned character sheet shape... Should I try to change mine?

I wonder what the Foo lion would have said about Daelric had he stayed there any longer? I dread to think, luckily he wasn't there for longer than a minute, so he probably has been erased from her memory already.

I am curious to see the next reaction to Daelric, who is now doing the servants job of cleaning up the mess :P

Maven, Dr. Logem and Isoldda: I have posted reactions for each of you in my most recient post. There is a lot going on in the gameplay thread so I wanted to be sure you caught it.

Btw: Yes, Komainu does have the scent ability and RP wise I figured that a dog would be able to pick up on Dr. Logem's taint. =D

Makes perfect sense actually! Your description of him was quite accurate. I'm having a ton of fun playing such an evil bastard. :P

Yeah, I spotted it, and despite the berth of posts between, it's all good to me. I'm imaginative enough to order it all in my head anyway, heh.

As much as you are comfortable writing. Never force things to be a certain "length." Some submissions have really long histories, others not. Sometimes you can convey a lot in just a few words. I know that may not sound entirely helpful, but e length of a background is less important than the content.

Rob, just checking quickly, is my profile still easy for you to understand? If not then I shall just revert it back to the way it was.

:3 (For those who have read my most recent entry), Yes I went there and quoted that. I've been wanting to find the perfect spot to quote that for a while now. :D

Still say it's gonna be quite the motley crew when the dust settles. Ain't gonna be a normal bone in the party.

Flash forward to the frigate with the 200-dwarf-strong expedition exploding in the harbor of it's maiden voyage.

@Logem: haha at least it was referenced tastefully and went well with the tone of the rest of your post.

@Vulgarbeard: that would be hilarious, and most likely with you to blame

Logem, I am rooting for you! You show that pompous empress that she is no better than the rest of us!

If you could that would be a great help. The sheet formats are for my ease of reference, because there'll be plenty of times when I need to reference attacks, abilities, immunities or the like and I hate to miss things. Using a bestiary block setup allows me to know exactly where to look for everything on everyone's sheets.

You don't necessarily need to do it now, but if you're chosen I'll ask you to reformat it before we get into game-play. If you want to keep some information sequestered behind spoiler tabs that's fine, or use hyperlinks to the PRD/d20pfsrd for your abilities/feats/what-not that's fine too. The location of stuff just needs to be mostly uniform.

Gotcha. That's fairly easy... I'll try to figure it out now. xD

Okay, when going through, I corrected a few mechanical errors (that were actually working against me), figured out I have way too much gear if we are using the proper encumbrance system (most games don't really care to, I've found, but I am willing to do it if you guys are doing so), had my post deleted once, and remembered that I removed some things from the standard rogue's kit - sunrods and torches, I think? - but didn't add the cost back to my money, because, damn it all, I don't care if I lose the money, I don't want to bother with the bookkeeping effort it takes to figure out exactly how much money he has.

Whew. Okay, done ranting now. Sorry if that's a little annoyed, the aforementioned deletion of post irritated me a trifle.

EDIT: But I did get it done! So if you find anything wrong with it, Rob, please let me know, and I'll rush over to fix it. Apologies again for the tone of the original post, I've cooled my irritation now. I'll leave it there for the record's sake, but I apologize most sincerely if it seemed a trifle hostile.

I tried to cover everyone who came to our section of the mead hall and the questions asked to some degree with my post, but if I missed anyone it was not intended.

Yeah, I expected you have to do this. xD Sorry about that, Dakún.

I will definitely be keeping track of encumbrance, due to the "survive in the wild" aspect of it, and lugging around a metric tonne of gear becomes detrimental.

Yes, Grima's folding chair is accounted in his encumbrance. We of course must civilize the wild.

16 strength should alleviate most encumbrance concerns, though it'll probably be wise to denote what gear is being left at "camp" or whatnot, when we're out bandyin' about smashin' skulls.

Lookin' over my stuff, I imagine as long as I don't lug my artisan's tools around with me, I should be ok. Besides, we're DWARVES! carrying capacity is a JOKE to us. never slowed due to encumbrance, HUAH!!

Alright, makes sense. Let me go check out what I want to get rid of... I imagine it'll be my armor, and maybe a few of my traps. Sixty pounds of traps is a trifle much, I think.
