Re shopping, honestly this is one of my least favoured parts of the game. Also we were apparently very unlucky with loot since if we put all of the groups funds into just Llewellyn he'll still be behind on WBL and that's ignoring Samuel.

My suggestion would be to hand wave this and bring everyone up to normal WBL for level 10 with the proviso no one item is worth more than 1/3 of WBL and move on.

My personal preference is to just keep going with whatever the adventure hands us and what we can trade. It is more immersive, and I find APs tend to get easy at higher levels if you go full gear up.

As for handing the campaign, we can wait a bit more. We really don't lose much for not having the control of the campaign, while moving to another thread is a big blow to the sense of continuity.

Thanks for letting us know. Any answer to the question about bringing Llewellyn and Samuel up to the standard WBL? I'm in favor of that.

Thashara prefers being second-line; She uses a naginata that has 'reach'. She'll happily let others play 'meat-shield' while she slashes at the enemy from behind the big, tough frontliners. :)

I updated Llewellyn, improving his AC to a respectable 27 when he's using sword and shield. The other thing I did was to give him a Singing Steel longsword. He's currently at 60543g which is a little shy of the 62k PCs normally have by lvl 10. I guess he can buy a couple of wands or something.

Steel, Singing Source PPZO94102:

This lustrous golden metal emits beautiful bell-like tones when struck. An alloy of gold and mithral, singing steel was originally created by the elves.

A weapon made of singing steel counts as alchemical silver for all purposes, including the –1 penalty on damage rolls with singing steel weapons. Most armor made of singing steel is treated as one category lighter (heavy armors are treated as medium, and medium armors are treated as light, but light armors are still treated as light). The armor or shield’s arcane spell failure chance is reduced by 5%, its maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by 1, and its armor check penalty is reduced by 1 (to a minimum of 0).

When wielding a singing steel weapon, shield, or item weighing at least 5 pounds, or wearing medium or heavy singing steel armor, the wielder or wearer can strike the singing steel as part of beginning a bardic performance. If the wielder can normally start a bardic performance as a standard action, he can do so as a move action instead. If the wielder can normally start a bardic performance as a move action, he can do so as a swift action instead. This ability does not function in the area of a silence spell or similar effect. After using the singing steel in this fashion, the steel must be carefully brushed to remove any lingering vibrations, a process that takes 10 minutes.

Singing steel items are always masterwork; this cost is included in the price. Singing steel has 20 hp per inch of thickness and hardness 10. Although formed partially from mithral, singing steel items weigh as much as their normal counterparts.


Apologies for the extra delay, after the site closing finished I was getting ready to start again but got really sick (flu A, I think) and had more work asked of me at the same time.

To reach 62000 gp Samuel needs to spend about 43440 gp

Note the quickrunner's shirt got nerfed, it's still possibly a good item for Samuel though to get out of trouble in a pinch.
