the legion , i did consider treating it like a swarm or mob... that's a good idea
as is the power level of the world. i didn't think of that

Letitia Frost |

The troop mechanics were also created/used in the Irongfang Legion adventure path. I'm running that AP on these boards currently. Those rules might be easier to find since its a more recent AP.

Letitia Frost |

I stumbled upon this book review. Looks like the main characters are in the roles of My Bright Morning, My Red Sun and My Black Midnight. Could be entertaining.

Ashling_Frost-wing |

well im certainly curious

Samuel Soulkeeper |

Oh, they made them some witches? For what I could see from Russian folklore they are some sort of brave men born at different times of day that save three princesses in a cave. I guess this is an update with nowadays values.

Samuel Soulkeeper |

Yup! Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Llewellyn the Bold |

Happy holidays everybody!

Llewellyn the Bold |

I came across this picture of the hut on the interwebs and thought I'd share.

Samuel Soulkeeper |

Cool image! It is inspiring.
I have seen a few Russian movies that feature the house. It is an original device to be certain.
If I understood properly, we are still inside the house, or some kind of alternate dimension or reality related to the house, isn't it?

you don't know for sure what is going on quite yet, but Letitia was able to prove you were still in the Hut by making the portal to the Library room.
Clearly this house is a whole lot bigger than it looks, or you are in some kind of pocket dimension inside of the hut. you don't think at this point that you have left the hut at any point

"Maiden, Mother, Crone"
Hopefully not too much of a spoiler (as the names of books in an AP aren't all that hard to find), but it is always really fun when the exact title of a book gets said by someone during the course of that book.

GM My Red Sun |

Sorry guys, should have done this before. I added a map o the slides with the hut exterior. please place yourselves on the map and indicate which of the following places you are:
1. inside the hut still
2. on the porch (outside but on the hut
3. on the ground near the hut
need to know where people are before i can show what you're seeing outside and resolve that... sorry for the delay

Callix Ingritdottir |

Tried to put Callix on the porch but seem to have disappeared under the hut icon - so I sent the hut to the back, but accidentally exposed something. Sorry.

Llewellyn the Bold |

I'm happy for Llewellyn to have taken a few steps outside.

Samuel Soulkeeper |

Samuel is on the porch, musket ready :)

Ashling_Frost-wing |

Ash is also near the porch

Callix Ingritdottir |

Sadly, no, I'm *after* the giants.

GM My Red Sun |

The egg and bowl allows you to control the Dancing Hut. you have already learned how to drive it when you stomped around Whitethrone. now that there is danger you find that the hut responds easily to your commands when you hold the controls. they are weird controls, but magically intuitive.
one party member each game round can use the Dancing Hut in place of their own actions. the stat block has been added to the slides deck at the end.

Callix Ingritdottir |

Wow. Should just let the hut beat 'em all up.

Ashling_Frost-wing |

im all for fair fights but...this hut is power

Samuel Soulkeeper |

I think you can go ahead and use the hut attacks Ashling while we attack at range :)

Samuel Soulkeeper |

I failed again to add Llewellyn's Inspire Courage, sorry!
Samuel's rolls will be an 18 to hit, 14 to damage.

Callix Ingritdottir |

So did I! I added my Divine Favour, but not that -- which could especially be important if that +2 is enough to confirm. (In which case it's +6 and not +2 to damage)

Llewellyn the Bold |

Yeah it's really easy to forget, especially if I post later than initiative order. I'll try to be really clear if it's up or not, it's really quite strong in this party.

About to leave for a camping trip for the weekend. I will not be able to post again until Monday at the earliest. hope you all have a good weekend!

Samuel Soulkeeper |

This is a ping for Ashling, as only the house turn remains to conclude the party's round :)

Ashling_Frost-wing |

oh crud, sorry, been super busy, thought i posted already

Callix Ingritdottir |

It's too bad we're not 8th level so Letitia's evil eye would *really* mess with the Giant's will save. :)
Then again, at 8th level, the Charm Hex stops being totally useless, so that's a thing, too. Really, the 8th level power-up of hexes is just a good thing, period.
... then again, Witches are, traditionally, our primary boss fights. So... forget I said anything.

Samuel Soulkeeper |

In fact yes, those witches can be pretty nasty, and we are trying to free the mother of all them... :D

GM My Red Sun |

haha it definitely works both ways. see a witch that is a few levels ahead of the party do something cool and scary: oh cool that's something our witch will be able to do soon.
See Letitia do something cool and new: uh oh. Bosses are definitely going to do that to me at some point...

GM My Red Sun |

sorry for the delay on posting. I have had quite a busy week and will be out travelling for the next week. probably won't have a GM post up for about a week

Samuel Soulkeeper |

Rats! Just when I was doing new centaur friends! That sucks for us but thanks a lot for the heads up GM! :D

Ashling_Frost-wing |

Yeah, still here, just watching and reading. Hadnt realized i hadnt posted in that long already lol. Sorry

Callix Ingritdottir |

Apologies for the prolonged absence -- I've just had a delightful week without electricity following a terrible storm. Will catch up now.

Llewellyn the Bold |

Yikes that sounds like a nightmare. Hope things are get back to normal now!

Tilnar |

It was ... not the best. But over now, thankfully.
I know what you mean about starting languages, though -- you'd think that bards, especially, would get a class feature that lets them past that silly restriction. (Though, I guess once you're a bard, all your languages are acquired with skill points, so the limits on what you can pick with int doesn't apply). [You'd also think the Human-raised racial trait would help there, but apparently not.]

Llewellyn the Bold |

I notice on the loot list some unidentified scrolls and wands from post 2346:
Llewellyn will have a go at identifying them:
unidentified scroll Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
unidentified scroll Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
unidentified scroll Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
unidentified wand Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
unidentified wand Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Oh and there's nothing he'd like to buy at this stage.

Letitia Frost |

I think those items were identified.
scroll of blink
scroll of scorching ray
scroll of see invisibility
a wand of silent image (12 charges)
a wand of true strike (15 charges)
I've got those scrolls on my character sheet (because I might be the only one with Use Magical Device), but if anyone thinks they could better use them, be my guest.
(Though come to think of it, I wouldn't mind using the scroll of see invisibility to add to my spell repertoire.)

Llewellyn the Bold |

Ah never mind :)

Samuel Soulkeeper |

I have made an estimate, and selling part of the stuff I do not think we are going to use we can gather enough coin to share 3000 gp to each of us.
So Callix, go ahead and grab that mithral shirt.
The bolas and the magnet seem very cool, but they seem to be destroyed easily after the first use.
As for the equipment we have available there are a few things that can be useful. I suggest Callix and Ashling take them, specially Callix as she has barely claimed any treasure so far:
- potion of fly (you are going to need one of this at some moment!)
- masterwork composite longbow (+2 STR) (whomever of you two does not pick the fly potion should have a decent backup ranged weapon, I suggest Callix because Ashling is blind past 60')
- potion of invisibility (this can be useful to anyone)
- ring of protection +1 (I know you have shield of faith, but it is handy to have and everyone else has this already)
- adamantine warhammer (I know you two go Dex, but being able to bypass adamantine and bludgeoning might come of use at some moment, it is handy to bash doors at the very least...)
- aegys of recovery (+2 resistance vs continuous saves like hold person, poison, coldness, etc.)
I will consolidate the sell gold tomorrow, once you have a chance to decide on this.

Callix Ingritdottir |

Callix isn't strong enough to use the bow -- and she has a +1 str compy bow already. Realistically, better to give her the coin and let her cast Masterwork Transformation on the one she's carrying.
In terms of the warhammer, might be better for Ashling -- as Callix can already bypass bludgeoning using an axe due to Weapon Versatility -- and her divine weapon and specialization bonuses mean that the warhammer would be a very large downgrade.
Certainly happy to yoink the potion of fly, though.

Ashling_Frost-wing |

Ashling may need it for bludgeoning, but she does have the adamantine longsword

Letitia Frost |

We definitely need to keep the adamantine hammer. We've encountered an ice golem and a bone golem so far, so it stands to reason we'll face more than that. And having two melee-ers is better than one (just like how fast we took down the bone golem).

Samuel Soulkeeper |

So, Ashling, are you taking any of the offered equipment? :)
I have noted Callix carrying the fly potion.
Don't be shy you two picking up Treasure! Someone has to carry it anyway, and it is more likely we remember to use it if you have it written in your profile. It serves little to nothing left away in the treasure sheet :D
If we ever get to a point in the adventure where we can buy and improve equipment, you can empty the backpack with all that stuff not seeing much use!
