Welcome to Flaxseed On Deck, your home for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild organized play on the Paizo forums!
This thread will be used for GMs (in the case of the card game, this refers to the person who is running the game box for the scenario.. I also like the term “box runner” or “BR”) to post links to their recruitment threads, and for players to say “Hey, I’d like to play in this scenario, is anyone running it?”
For discussing rules or asking questions about character powers, etc, please see the Discussion tab at the top of the thread.
For in-character roleplaying, and also to get this campaign to show up in your Campaigns tab, hop on over to the Gameplay tab at the top of the thread.
Finally, for important information on how to play, links to useful tools, and all other information that might be important to running or playing in an online game of PACGuild, make sure to check out the Campaign Info page.

Hi everyone!
I'm willing and able to run a new game! I think I might consider playing a character in this one as well, so I'll probably be looking for 3-4 other players. If anyone would like to run a specific AP, I'm open to pretty much anything (although Plundered Tombs would be my last choice, having just played through that one).

I've never played any Play By Post at all. I love the card game though and so would like to give this a try.
I'm good to play any of the APs except for plundered tombs as I'm playing through that one in a home game.
I will need some help understanding how to play the game in the post format.
I would highly recommend you join Mork's game, then. He's an excellent teacher, and has several newbies in his other games currently.

Now that my questions are out of the way, I'd happily put my hand up for BR Mork's game. I'll step aside to people who want to join, and who aren't already in a play-by-post for PACG, though.
Any APs are good to me, with a small preference for Mummy's Mask and Wrath of the Righteous based paths. I also have a small inclination against Season of Plundered Tombs (since I'm currently playing in that one), so that's convenient.

If you have space for a sorcerer, I'd be interested in joining up too! I'm relatively new to PbP and organized play, but feel like I've been picking it up quickly.
Slight preference for not-Plundered Tombs and not-Righteous, as those are the 2 that I currently have characters in.Nathan Davis Obsidian Entertainment |

I would love to play what do I need outside of Characywr deck? I have an understanding of the game from the Pathfinder Adventures is it the same?
Character deck is all that is needed. Outside of that Organized play uses the latest rulebook (currently Mummy's Mask), and then for organized play it doesn't hurt to know the pathfinder society rules, though your BR/GM can help fill in any knowledge gaps. If you have any other questions head over to the discussion thread!

Would it make sense to have a google sheet like Outpost used to sign up for games?

We're going to leave it up to the individual BR's to host their sign-up sheets. This will allow BR's to have flexibility in outlining table-specific rules such as:
-pacing (1x post a day? faster? slower?)
-how they intend to select players (first come first serve, new players priority, lottery all, 1-2 slots reserved, etc)
-table size
-any real-time chat requirements (such as hangouts)
-etc
The sign-up sheets can be posted in this thread and then we may be adding them to the campaign heading as well. So just make sure to check back every once in a while. I know a lot of us are managing multiple tables for Outpost. I intend to keep my tables running as long as their is interest. I've also been considering opening up a new table though I need to get through busy season at work before I can make any additional time commitments.

Sorry! I guess I should have mentioned here that I've finished recruiting already. :/

Hello all! I am new to PFACG having recently tried it at a local RPG gameday where someone brought it. I tried it and loved it so much that when Paizo did their sale I bought the Mummy set along with several class decks (for 1/2 price why not?). Anyway, being new to PFACG, how does it play online? With physical cards and a deck and such, how difficult is it? How do we keep stuff "random" when drawing, that sort of thing.....
I ask because as soon as someone starts a group for new players I would love to join.
Thanks!

Hey TColMaster! The short answer is that Box Runners or Game Masters, who run the game, each use their own method of setting up a series of location decks (and pre-filled random cards), then track it with some form of software or template and paste all of the information into forum posts.
These forum posts, or scenario updates, are tracking every card in every deck (basically) at one time, but in spoiler tags. Each individual player is trusted to only open those spoilers and look at the cards indicated when they are allowed to do so (like they've explored a location), and will look through these in order to run their turn. They can communicate and leave messages for other players to indicate when they can help each other out, and to strategize.
The best way to see how it works is to look at a couple of games in action! I've linked the two tables I'm running in, and you can have a glance at how the play-by-post format works in the Gameplay tabs.
Play-By-Post, Season of Plundered Tombs (Mummy's Mask)
Play-By-Post, Season of Factions' Favor (Mummy's Mask)
You can also see the use the forum dice software, which shows up an answer as soon as you post or 'preview' a post, and won't change if you go back and add new dice rolls or edits. You can track your own player decks (built from official Class Decks) however you want, but it's recommended to use a helpful spreadsheet tool that's free to use by everyone, and is often linked in players' posts.
Example Roll. Can I beat a difficulty 25 check?: 1d4 + 1d6 + 1d8 + 1d10 + 1d12 ⇒ (3) + (1) + (6) + (3) + (7) = 20 -> No I cannot.

Also check out this blog post where we discussed a little bit how it all works (click)
Also go ahead and check a few of the linked games from Yewstance's post to get a feel for it. If you have any questions then there is a "Discussion" tab where you can ask more questions!
Cheers!

Who would like to try playing in real time with all players chatting over Discord or something else? Games are slower online so I'd expect up to 3 hours to play one. We would use the same Paizo forum system the PbP games play, just much, much faster.
I'd be down to try that as well! I'm in GMT -5 but should have some schedule flexibility during the weekend.

I've been playing with trying use Roll20 for running the ACG, using the deck mechanic. So far I haven't worked it out yet, although you could just use the dice mechanic with an attentive BR. I like the idea that at the very least, the boxrunner could use actual card images, which is (for me) the most challenging pat of playing in PbP.

I'm intrigued, depending on when it's scheduled for. (I'm Central-US)

Note that we (the ACG Online Organized Play team) can't sanction any game that involves sharing images of cards, for the sake of Paizo copyrights. If you want to play a game like that with your friends, that's fine, but I don't want to hear about it. Cool?
Has there been any thought of doing something like MtG Online? I know there's a phone app version of the game that allows for solitary play (with artwork and such).
On that note how similar is the phone app game (which I have experience with) and the actual card game (which I, at present, do not have experience with)?

The app game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, is based on the exact same ruleset, characters and cards from the first Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Base Set - Rise of the Runelords. In other words, at its core, it's identical. It will focus on different cards, stories and characters than actual play around a table or in Organised Play fashion, though.
If the core mechanics (exploring, encountering boons and banes, and using your skills and cards to corner and defeat villains as you improve your deck and character over time) interest you, then you'll find the physical game a pleasure.

Hello everyone!
I would like to officially announce our first ever PACG Online Convention, "Cards Against Gnomanity"!
We'll be holding the convention beginning on July 9th, with a HARD end date of August 12th, so as to free our box runners up for the multi-table special Assault on Absalom during PbP Gameday VII.
More details will come soon, but if you'd like to run a box for this convention, please just state your interest below. We'll have formal signups and such as things get closer. I'm hoping that we can pull together 25-30 tables of play, and there will be PACG-specific boons given out to box runners and players as part of this!
Note that these games will be run using a brand-new online database system that is still under construction but coming along very nicely. Stay tuned!
