Forgotten Realms and Planescape collide in an adventure through dimensions, time, and space, in what will eventually be a mythic adventure culminating in potential deicide...so, you know, nothing major.

Been reading over everyone's character submissions in greater detail - not going to lie, it's going to be hard narrowing this down. I will have to say no to a few I really like.

There's still a couple submissions without a background or anything, some interest expressed without even character submission, and tomorrow is the deadline.

I hope those I pick are able to post over the weekend. I'm really looking forward to getting this one started!

I'm sending a few PMs out - if you get one, don't assume it means you're in. If you didn't - don't assume it means you're out.

Hope you don't mind, I added a bit based on your second post, seemed like it would fit with the character you made.

Majhul:

Majhul awoke one day, with no memories of his past life. Everything, from the moment before his eyes, wiped away. He was left with a basic working knowledge of how to speak and live, but even his name was unknown to him. Only those things he could tell from his appearance and belongings were revealed to him at first. His natural language patterns and skin marked him as Rashemi, and his pitiful attempts to fend off a mugger marked him as not a fighter. Only one other thing was immediately revealed to him by that same encounter: He had the talent for magic, knocking the man unconscious in a spray of light.

It has been 2 years since then. Majhul has made a new name for himself (quite literally, as he still cannot recall his old one) as a wandering scholar, traveling from library to library in the hopes of something jogging his memories of who he was. He quickly found out he was a knowledgeable man before his memories were taken, research sometimes bringing back frustrating memories of reading the same passages a long time ago, with none of the surrounding life context to give him more than a hint of who he was.

What he did find out was dangerous situations, stress and terror, and even great enough frustration could bring memories flashing back to the surface. Powerful spells he didn't know he could cast, encyclopedic knowledge of creatures he could not recall ever encountering, all brought back to him snippets of who he had been. Powerful, knowledgeable...and a good deal older he is sometimes able to recall, with some confusion.

Majhul began to seek out these dangerous situations, occasionally teaming up with other like-minded individuals who appreciated his skill, if not his often quiet and introspective nature.

On one such adventure, he met a curious dwarf by the name of Flarghin, and helped him clear out a den of orcs. Expecting another tiresome murder spree, he was pleasantly surprised that Flarghin was the rare dwarf who knew the value of restraint, refraining from ending the lives of any but direct combatants, and showing mercy to the women and children. After the work was done, he was even more surprised when the man left, two of the children in tow.

"Their ma came at me with an axe. Had no choice." he said, sadly, and trudged off home.

They parted ways then, but Majhul kept the man's actions in mind going forward. He'd never thought about the collateral damage left behind by such "pest control" jobs before. Still, he thought he hadn't left much of an impression on Flarghin himself, so figured never to hear from him again.

He was wrong, it seems.

Personality:

Majhul is often quiet. Not out of any antisocial personality, but because he often has little to to talk ABOUT, his life experiences being limited mostly to research and "war stories". When a topic that he is interested and knowledgeable about is hit on, Majhul finds he is almost UNABLE to shut up about it (sometimes long after everyone else has lost interest).

While initially very little concerned with morality, Flarghin's influence has turned that around a bit. It seems that it as more he'd never CONSIDERED how his actions might affect others, than that he was actively callous. While he has to almost TRY to care, now, he tries to keep consequences in mind when he makes his decisions.

Majhul is also a bit of a thrillseeker, largely because emotional highs bring back his precious memories. He feels almost like an outsider much of the time, only having surface knowledge and books to draw on with little personal experience with others.

Character Sheet

Sheet is mostly done, just need to do skills and gear which should be pretty quick. The "spells known" section is going to look a bit weird, since I only get half of my spells known at the start of each day.I filled in for today what the ones I'd used "yesterday" might have been, and we'll go from there.

Today ended up busier than I planned... crunch is almost done; I'm working on his background mentally while I drive. For gear is it okay if we set aside a certain amount of money for "potions, scrolls, and wands" but wait until the party is selected to choose them? If not I can just pick stuff but I thought if I can wait I might be able to avoid too much replication with another caster (or too many wholes in our skill set).

I'm still planning on getting my background up tonight, it might be pretty late though...

Shaking in my boots man. One PBP I'm in is dead or dying and the other moves a bit slow for my taste. So I'm really hoping I can get into one sooner rather than later.

Alright, I think I'm done now. If you see anything missing, or have any questions/comments please let me know (I'll be checking the thread frequently from now until selections are announced).

Should be completed here as well. Not making an alias just yet, since this isn't one that's easily re-used.

Actually posting my character this time as opposed to just a vague idea like I previously posted. I think he will fit nicely in your campaign. Taos Stormreaver - Warpriest of Stronmaus.

Story:
An adventurer from the high north called the Ice Spires. He went south to the Silver Marches to support the Lords Alliance against the hordes of orcs, trolls and demons plaguing the lands. He has found friendships and alliances which brought him far across Faerun and presently into a climate he is familiar with...the Cold Lands of Damara.

Just dropping by to say that in a couple hours I will be posting my submission.

You can call me Tony Hawk cuz in the end I looked at the concept I had, did a 900° and ended with something different... but something I do dig a lot.

I will wait some time before putting up another submission-summarizing post so as to include as many of the newest arrivals as possible.

TriShadow wrote:
Just setting up Tacticslion to be on top of the next page. Here to assist the team and all. It's what I do.

If only my internet hadn't flunked out (and eaten my character rules submission) you'd have been perfect, my friend. Alas. Thanks, though!

(Trying to see about rebuilding to resubmit a higher than first spellcaster in one day is kind of intimidating. We shall see.)

EDIT: Hmp. Just realized it also ate my earlier attempt at a kind of "proto-submission" - the first attempt at which had been eaten by a "new post" boot to the front page website. I'd quoted the link and everything to show what had happened and where it brought you. I went to point it out and laugh about how I must be cursed, but that page wasn't available - and then I found a page welcoming me to CenturyLink instead in the middle of my "Of Gods and Death" tabs.

Daggummit. I didn't realize exactly how badly that had messed me up or how old the problem was, yesterday. I was busy, apparently.

Well poop. I've got to start from nothing, for a third time, and I'm about to keep a promise to spend most of the day out of the house with my sons.

So, TGTG, how do you feel about "technically on time, maybe (almost?), but rrrreeeeaaaaalllly late" submission...? >.>

(If mine's not up on time, obviously consider me to have bowed out of this thing, 'cause daggum. Sucky way to have it happen. But it makes the GM's life that much easier! So that's at least one good thing! XD)

Aaaaaaaaand Internet crapped out again. :|

Had to leave the house to be able to post on my phone.

WELP. I had a good run.

As far as wiggle room from the 5pm deadline goes, you have until I get home from work, technically.

I've already narrowed the field down to about eight folks. I will NOT be having eight players, so barring any amazing last minute entries I will have decisions very soon. Probably tonight. I have a 20 year anniversary of my church to go to, formal event*, so there may be SOME delay.

*I hate formal events, but we got tickets from someone who bailed, food is included, and the wifey deserves a nice date, so...

Out of curiosity, what is your time zone your GMness?

He's EST.

It's the final day, and the anticipation is growing. Good luck everyone!

Just an apology in advance for those who don't make it. I think I made my decision, but I'll await the deadline just in case. There were a lot of close calls. I was pleasantly surprised by the great response in quantity and quality of players.

I know its rough making a character and being shot down after all the work it takes. I've been there many times. It sucks. I don't relish adding another time to anyone's record.

Not going to happen, my friend. I'm out of the running. I'm not at the house, not going to get back until an hour or so, my internet is intermittent at best today for no explicable reason, and I find it increasingly unlikely that I'll have the kind of time to do thing right, especially on a phone. I can whip up something hideous while I'm here at the Resteraunt, but it'll have errors and be phone based so... even more hideous. And still no guarantees.

Still, I'll try that, if I have the time. With how the last two days have shaped up, I feel certain that as soon as I start, Freehold's auditor is going to pop on by for a looksie...

Looks like I got this in just under the wire. Sorry it took so long, wanted to take my time on it and did so a little too much! Here is my submission, Cade Thorngage, a Halfling-Tiefling foresight wizard. I crafted many things; with a spellcraft at +13 and a valet familiar, I can take 10 and hit anything up to a DC25. I added my calculations for the DCs of crafted items after each item, for you to double-check.

I don't know much about FR, beyond having read all of the R.A. Salvatore books (multiple times) a decade ago. So I thought it fitting that my character doesn't either! Well, he knows less than would be expected anyway. If selected, rediscovering his history could be an underlying plot point for him.

Let me know if you want any more info. Thanks!

Background:

Cade has no idea who he is. This is not meant in some philosophical, looking-to-find-himself sort of way; he literally has no idea who he is or where he came from. He woke up 10 years ago, naked, in an alley in Heliogabalus. He had no idea what had happened, or where he was, or even who he was. He did have a seemingly-unfounded nervousness, as though someone were after him. Luckily, his tiefling heritage served him well in this situation, as his scaly skin offered him some protection and his small size helped him to hide well. He stole some clothes, and slowly established himself in this new place.

He took up a new name, and discovered to his delight that he possessed a natural inclination to the arcane. Now he sticks to the shadows as much as possible, trying to hide his freakish physical features and make his way as best he can. He found Milo, his familiar, to be a good friend; he too is small and ugly, but tough and sneaky. The two adventure together, and strive to make themselves useful enough to other adventurers to overlook their physical features. Given his background, he is understandably nervous venturing into stores too often, so he has dedicated many resources to crafting items for himself. This gives him something to offer his fellow adventurers beyond his magical prowess. This strategy has worked pretty well; it has kept him alive, and helped to integrate himself with others. It seemed to work well enough for Flarghin, anyway, who had contacted him about another job.

Appearance:

The creature standing before you appears to be a cross between a halfling and a demon; and as it happens, that isn't far off. His size is more like a traditional halfling, but he has several traits that clearly mark his fiendish nature: scaly skin, cloven hooves instead of feet, a long and flexible tail, and a large mouth full of very sharp-looking teeth. Most of this he keeps well-hidden; he has a large green cloak that covers his tail, with a deep hood to hide his face. Not much he can do about the feet (do you know how hard it is to wear boots with hooves?), but luckily most don't seem to notice - I mean, really, how often do you look at a man's shoes?

Okay guys - again, I'm so sorry to those of you who didn't make it. There were several close calls, and if anyone drops or can't make it, I'll keep you posted for substitutes.

For now, in alphabetical order or character name, the chosen five (I was going to do four, but I couldn't narrow it down to just four, so someone will be short a chair in the den...) are:

Isandril Velahrn/F. Castor
Kastelic Kurza/Greymore
Lavinia/goodwicki
Majhul/Sundakan
Micah Haynes/nate lange

For those of you who didn't make it, if you still like the idea of me as a GM, I have decided I definitely will follow through and put up the final recruitment for my other game idea sometime over the weekend, when I've hammered out the kinks. I will admit, that game is quite a bit different in concept.

Those of you who were chosen can feel free to make your way to the gameplay tab, and of course the discussion as well.
