Game Master thegreenteagamer

Forgotten Realms and Planescape collide in an adventure through dimensions, time, and space, in what will eventually be a mythic adventure culminating in potential deicide...so, you know, nothing major.

Since I once again noticed we were near the start of a new page, and I still figure having a list of proposed character ideas could be helpful, here we go again!

Soooooo... lower another line...

... one more...

... there!

Clarification: posters are in alphabetical order to prevent accidental replication of entries; if character aliases are used, I place that below instead of the original poster; I use quotes to describe the character - that's not always helpful, but it gives a vague reminder/preview of entries. If a poster has entirely abandoned one concept and presented a different concept, I've deleted their original, abandoned concept and left only their most recent one; if they've only submitted a concept they've noted of thinking of abandoning, I'll leave the (hypothetically abandoned) concept until a new one comes up. Anyone who is not me that wants to do this, is more than welcome to do so! This is just for everyone's convenience! :D

TGTG, you're saying that you'd accept an Unchained Summoner, and I've never played one. I'm willing to see what happens when we throw those two reactive chemicals into an enclosed space and let the wacky hijinks ensue!

In boyhood the character rescued a magical Azata from a skulduggerous trap, and she has been his bosom companion ever since, guiding him in his eldritch studies and teaching him the ways of the planes.

He'll be the Straight Man for most of the campaign, looking about wide-eyed at all the strange things going on, while his Eidolon calmly tries to get him to relax and take things in stride.

On a different note, I probably won't go with my tiefling alchemist. Didn't want to play the same thing, but most of her backstory is very alchemy themed.

Is there an actual Planescape tie-in where adhering to a faction philosophy makes sense for a character background or is that just alluding to a lot of plane hopping for adventure locations?

Are you open to the Godling classes from Super/Rogue Genius Games? The current idea is to make an aasimar/tiefling that doesn't know that he's planetouched. The godling classes can be used to explain those powers. Of course, it could also be used in the traditional sense of being one of the multitude of scions running around.
This idea would borrow/enable a Starlord-like character.

Well, I figured the reaction would be polar, one way or the other, based on general threads found searching. Honestly I was ok with any variants sent it fit the theme; not to over tweak it to the point of optimizing. That said, I'm usually not playing games at the higher levels where some of the "broken" aspects appear to pop up.

I'll see what other classes fit the character concept... otherwise, back to the drawing board.

Not settling on an Id Rager, just thought it was a fun looking archetype with a lot of roleplay potential. (Too bad it doesn't stack with Bloody-Knuckled Rowdy though, could start making Fei Fong Wong!)

Before the malevolent mage could inflict any torments on the defeated girl, a gruff member of the stout folk, one Flarghin Ironstone by name, showed up to her rescue, alongside a few other local would-be adventurers, defeating the bandit. I would like to submit my character if you are interested. Taos Stormreaver- Human warpriest follower of Thor (A god from a long forgotten era in Faerun's ancient history....so long ago even the writers were unaware of this).

I'm thinking that I want to make a starknife throwing character using stuff like Starknife Comet and Desna's Shooting Star. The problem is of course that Desna doesn't actually exist in this world. Would you allow another diety for this? If so what diety? Tymora? Sehaine Moonbow? I'm thinking to pick up a level of warpriest to get both the Shooting Star and Weapon Focus since it's a rather crazy amount of prerequisites for these feats. Otherwise the character would probably be a flying blade swashbuckler, but I'm also considering ninja. There are a few shuriken related ninja tricks, I don't suppose you would allow me to use those with a starknife? If I do go for ninja, would you allow me to use fractional bab to stack with warpriest?

You know I always did like this class, and the factotum, conceptually. In exercise I feel you'll be quite a bit weaker than the rest of the group, but if you want to try it, that's fine by me.

Stricly hypothetically of course... *cough* >.>

If the two of you were chosen, and you did that, that would almost certainly lead to PvP, and what did I say about PvP? That would be like me saying "no fighting", and you spit in someone's face, and then the two of you fought, and you were like "but he threw the first punch!"

Um...no. There's like 50 gods or so already. Pick one that exists. It's called "Of Gods and Death" - the ones that exist are part of the story. Also, I see no character sheet, no story...not much more than a single sentence description.

It just seems so Selune to me, more than anything. Tymora would also be fine, as would Sehaine Moonbow.

No fractional bonuses. I may regret this, but you can use Flurry of Stars and Deadly Shuriken with starknives, provided you actually have enough starknives, and you have Quick Draw (since shuriken normally can be drawn as a free action and starknives can't, you need some way to throw that many in a single round). Those were the only two ninja tricks with shuriken I could see.

Weaker? The Chameleon can have a Combat aspect, an Arcane aspect and If I built it from an Inquisitor it would also have divine casting.

Feel free to educate me on what I may not know about power levels for classes in mythic etc.. I don't really have experience with that part of the game.

Thanks for allowing the idea. Though not allowing fractional bab really hurts as it means I won't be able to qualify for Startoss Shower at 5 nor vital strike at 7 since I'll lose 2 points of bab instead of one (I was originally thinking 1 warpriest, 3 swashbuckler then rest ninja). I guess I have to rethink if this is possible at all. I wish all these prerequisites weren't there (well weapon focus at least). I guess I might have to drop the ninja part of the idea.

A blinkback belt would solve the problem of having enough starknives as would Ricochet Toss. I think i'll just buy the belt.

Basic submission from goodwicki: Lavinia "Sureshot" Snowbeard, female halfling Ranger/Divine Marksman archetype. May still tweak the crunch if there's any particularly useful suggestions, especially in regards to favored enemies, but otherwise it's pretty much set except for a bit of gold left to spend - see alias profile. I believe all crunch is Paizo material; the fluff is where I require assistance.

My basic ideas for background are as follows. She's from a small society of Ghostheart halflings living in a hilly/mountainous region on the Great Glacier, possible somewhere at least vaguely threatened by Vaalathrim (to account for the Shadowhunter racial trait). Given her archetype's lack of magical ability (in fact, I'm not sure where the "divine" part of the divine marksman comes from...), I picture her paying only passing homage to a relevant deity, maybe Ulutiu (a possible tie-in to the idea of deicide down the road), Arvoreen, or even Auril. She possesses a complex set of animist superstitions, leading to a bevy of superstitious idiosyncrasies I'd like to develop in gameplay (along the lines of tossing salt over her shoulder, knocking on wood, spinning three times widdershins, etc.) which she believes gains her the favor of fate and spirits and allows her the use of her Adaptable Luck racial trait.

Raised as a hunter, she got to wanderlusting and left her people to head south, where she met up with Flarghin Ironstone and discovered she could make much more money hunting people rather than animals. Alternative reasons for leaving her people: perhaps they worship Auril, and she refused to fear/venerate her? Or they were wiped out by one of the many hazards of the Great Glacier and she fled south? Not sure how much you're looking to work our backgrounds into future plot threads, greentea i.e. if you're interested in us having pre-existing enemies/grudges/etc. that you can work with.

Which ideas sound reasonable for the setting/tone of the campaign, and which don't? Comments, questions, and suggestions are most welcome!

Armitron's Background:

Armitron grew up in the city of Heliogobalus the son of a minor Noble family. Certainly loyalty to Dimian Ree was a necessity although given by the family begrudgingly. Armitron wished he could rise up and throw off the yoke of the evil Witch King but he knew that it would take a hero of legendary power to do so. Still he trained with the sword as frequently as possible and worshipped Ilmater in secret (as most residents of the Bloodstone Lands were forced to do during the occupation).

In his late teens a hero did rise in the form of Gareth Dragonsbane. As Gareth's victories grew so did Armitron’s excitement. With the fall of Dimian Ree, the Foebane’s were able to pledge their full support to the now crowned King Gareth. Too inexperienced to go to the final battle with Zhengyi Armitron along with his family and friends waited with bated breath for the return of Gareth and his powerful friends. They knew that if the new King would fall an avalanche of evil would once again spread throughout the Bloodstone Lands.

Luckily good triumphed and the King returned setting order to the Realm. Armitron pledged his loyalty to the King and was granted a place amongst the Paladins of the Realm.

While Zhengyi was defeated, his minions were not so fast to fall. Armitron aided the King and his new Court in rooting out the politicians and foes that attempted to remain behind and sow discord in the new Kingdom.

By the mid 1360's, most of that work had indeed been accomplished and Armitron knew that his calling would take him elsewhere. That place was Vassa for that is where the forces of evil had fled from the bright shining beacon that was now the Kingdom of Gareth Dragonsbane. It was in Vassa that Armitron met Flarghin Ironstone for the first of several forays into these Cold Lands. Occasionally for a bounty (the proceeds of which Armitron generally donated to the Yellow Rose Monastery). Often times his forays would not involve Flarghin at all and instead consisted of the defense of the Fortress settlement of Darmshall or the Half-Orc settlement of Palischuk from all manner of evil.

By 1372, Armitron has spent over 10 years fighting in defense of the Kingdom and his family convinced him that it was time for him to settle down back to Heliogabalus and create a proper heir for his family. "Enough good deeds have you done my son", his mother's final letter stated. Reluctantly, Armiton left his life north of the Gates and headed back south to leave the life of "adventuring" behind.

When he arrived Armitron discovered that he had been chosen to wed an heir of Dimian Ree to "provide the family with a chance to restore their honor". Armitron initially refused until he met the young woman Genevieva Ree who claimed that she had done her best to subvert her Uncle when he was in the grasp of the influence of the Witch King.

Besides being a Ree She was of all things a Sorcereress! These two things almost forced Armitron and pack his bags to journey to Vassa for the remainder of his life. However, after meeting with her several times, he agreed with his mother that she was a good match and set a wedding date in the Year 1373, the Year of Rogue Dragons.

A month before the wedding, Armitron received a missive from Flarghin Ironstone congratulating him on his wedding day. He also informed the, now not so young Paladin, that he was on the trail of a Bounty in nearby Trailsend and asked for help. "One last good deed for the Kingdom before you settle into Fatherhood".

Armitron felt the fires of adventure burn in him once more and convinced his mother and his Fiance' that this would be "his last ride" in defense of the Kindgom, setting out for nearby Trailsend the next morning promising to be back within the week...

I will have the crunch finalized by this afternoon.

TGTG, would you consider Weal's Champion a Holy Tactician ability a suitable substitute for Smite Evil with respect to the Oath of Vengeance ability Channel Wrath or do you read it as it HAS to be Smite Evil and not a similar ability which I think Weal's Champion is?

Thanks for the opportunity to submit TGTG.

I have a question about languages. Is there a generic "Common" language, or does each nation have its own language? If so, what languages would you suggest we pick up? I've decided that since we're supposed to know a Dwarf, I would pick up Dwarven, but I was wondering what others would be a good idea.

Ugh, I didn't take into consideration the GP limit on items... Normally the limit is on maximum half the wealth for a single item, but cutting it down to 2500 means the blinkback belt is off limits. A blinkback belt would make things so much easier. Before that it's not really viable to upgrade my weapon. I guess I'll have to hope to track down one after the game starts. Hopefully we'll eventually be able to get a place with a decent selection of items. It's such a shame it takes so much for a throwing based character to get going.

I guess I could pick up a Cracked Opalescent White Pyramid and a Wayfinder in order to get Weapon Focus with the starknife. That might save me from having to take that warpriest level. Then I could start with Swashbuckler 3/Ninja 2. Though it's not like that's the only thing warpriest gives me, but it does make it easier to handle the feat taxes.

Selune fits very well in a game where we'll be fighting the followers of Shar. Thanks for mentioning it :).

Would you allow me picking up a Lesser Crystal of Return? It's certainly not a full blinkback belt, but it would at least make things more manageable. And it'll save me from getting Quick Draw to boot. It's from Magic Item Compendium. Note that a lesser weapon crystal has to be attached to a weapon +1, so it would only work for one of my weapons (though I can move it around later if I get a different magic item).

Settling on a standard wizard, never played one before. Alchemists and Wizards are equally nerdy, so rewriting won't actually be too bad.

Question about familiars for writing up my backstory:

I never liked the idea of trading out your familiar to a new model when taking Improved Familiar. It doesn't make sense story-wise to me - if I have a familiar it seems like it should be the same one throughout.
But I also really like the faerie dragon, which requires level 7.
Would I be able to take Improved Familiar at 5 and take a faerie dragon with reduced stats/power/fewer abilities? Then at 7 go back to standard stats.

Specifics to be determined if I'm chosen - I just wanted to figure out whether I was writing a standard or improved familiar into backstory.

Here is Phntm888's submission, Joran Gres, Inquisitor of Tyr, hunter of criminals, and sometime lawyer.

The profile is recycled, if that's okay. I might try to find a different picture for it.

I think I have everything in here except for one language, pending an answer to my earlier question. Mechanically, he's a switch hitter with a slight emphasis on range. I was going to do a magic bow, but a +1 composite longbow (+3 Str) is 2700 gold, so I put the +1 onto the longsword.

Let me know if I'm missing anything.

2. VMC allowed, but you may not combine VMC with traditional multiclassing - it's one or the other.
3. Yes to variant aasimars.
4. Next Friday, the 21st, 5pm EST. That way I can check them all out after work and give you my decision over the weekend.

Weal's Champion seems like a watered down version of Smite Evil that hits the group, kind of like bard song....hmmm....Yes, I think that will work. You can use it in place of Smite for qualifying for abilities, etc.

I have a question about languages. Is there a generic "Common" language, or does each nation have its own language? If so, what languages would you suggest we pick up? I've decided that since we're supposed to know a Dwarf, I would pick up Dwarven, but I was wondering what others would be a good idea.

There's a common language. It's watered down and used for trade, and many nations and ethnicities do use their own language, but honestly...I don't want to keep track of that. In Toril (the FR planet) just about everyone human knows common, more or less. Racial languages could be very useful. Maybe...planar languages, as well... ;-) Justify it if you know planar languages, though. Ignan and Aquan and the like aren't exactly everyday things you can pick up at school.

Yes, you can start with that. Look, if I choose you, I'm not going to screw you because you designed a throwing build. I want you guys to be able to play the ideas you have, so if you can't afford something essential right now, we'll get to where you can soon enough. :-) True, you have to find a city large enough to find what you want, but Sigil...well, Sigil is Sigil, and you'll go there eventually. If it can't be found in Sigil somewhere, it probably doesn't exist.

Not quite, but you can always choose a model of base familiar, and say it was your faerie dragon, who's been cursed into that form, (perhaps by opening a cursed book, or whatever) and you're doing research to figure out how to break that form. After all, wizards are constantly researching new spells anyway, right? Considering you can still communicate with your familiar even if nobody else can, it fits. Another popular option is casting a ritual spell on your existing familiar that evolves him into his new form. (Faerie dragons can fly, talk, and use their hands, which no base level familiar can do all 3 of - so even a scaled down one is pretty darn useful.) - I hope you like that suggestion.

Phew! Lots of good questions! Getting excited for this one (and for getting over my cold if we're being totally honest)!

What are some languages used by the biggest nearby nations? Being a local startup in Knighthood I feel Galtur would know at least the most prominent one.

Well, a quick look in the 3.5 Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting's page on languages shows that, what do you know, Damara has it's own language, Damaran, spoken in Damara, the Vaasa, and a lot of the surrounding areas.

Rashemi, Illuskan, Chondathan, and Thayan are all spoken beyond the regions Damaran is spoken.

See page 84 of the book (if you have access to it) for more ideas.

Hey Green Tea! Chess here. Thanks for bringing some Forgotten Realms for us, and - wow - Chrono Trigger. Nice!

Anyway, here's my submission - Shogunto Heineous, rogue and brawler dying to get back into the adventure ;) The profile already has backstory and sheet, and I'll be adding some more meat (appearance, behavior, etc.) on the next couple days.

Thanks again for the consideration! :)

Hello again! =D

Oh my! I've been following this trhead closely and so many very fine callers we have!

Alas, I'm a simple man with simple tastes. I like to tell a story, and I post frequently, and many of my posts are favorited by others.
And too many strange rules and exotic builds makes me feel all muffle-headed. ;-D

But competition is fierce, so we must needs have something. Something special. I mean, of -course- I'll have to re-use an old Alias from an old game that just died, but it had a lot of life when it was going, and that is certainly something. =)

Hi there! =))

Character submission from Atlas2112!!

As promised he's an Unchained Summoner with an Azata Eidolon. I went half elf for the Ancestral weapon thingy and the totally awesome favorite class bonus.
I still have to get his money spent and some details finalized, but the rest of him is ready and roaring to go!

Also as promised I tried to do something special with the character concept and backstory. Summoners get a bad rap as hyper-thinking control machines that just want to dominate the battlefield and out do even the best zookeeper necromancers.

But with Unchained, we might finally be able to look at the -story- between summoner and summoned.

Enjoy. =)

---===Background===---

Age 5:

When Thomas was five, he would play around the green, lush fields of Clearwater with his friends Charles, Victor, Abdul, Joan and Leopold. They would run around the caravan drivers and jump through the wheel-works and leap about the old thresher by the general store.
But never near the old Millhouse. Never near the old Millhouse.

Age 10:

When Thomas was ten, he would play around the green, lush fields of Clearwater with his friends Charles, Victor, Joan and Leopold, as Abdul had died from Filth Fever the year before. They would run around the caravan drivers and jump through the wheel-works and leap about the old thresher by the general store.
But never near the old Millhouse. Never near the old Millhouse.

Age 15:

When Thomas was fifteen, he would play around the green, lush fields of Clearwater with his friends Charles, Joan and Leopold because Victor had left to become a priest. They would run around the caravan drivers and jump through the wheel-works and leap about the old thresher by the general store.
But never near the old Millhouse. Never near the old Millhouse.

Age 16:

When Thomas was sixteen, he would play around the green, lush fields of Clearwater with his friends Charles and Joan since Leopold had just left to join the army. They would run around the caravan drivers and jump through the wheel-works and leap about the old thresher by the general store.

Then they heard the screaming near the old Millhouse.

Creeping up the tall stairs nervously, they peered in through the old doorway, the door itself having rotted off long ago. They saw a man, a fat man wearing a greasy pigvest and stained trousers. He was jabbing a long stick into a large box, and whatever was in the box was screaming screaming screaming like a like pig killed slowly.

Charles sneezed loudly and the man turned and saw them! The three youths froze like deer in a trap, and the man turned and charged them! He held out his long stick like a sword, it's deadly, screaming potential coming for them. To make them scream!

Thomas was in the middle of the doorway, and as the fat man and his screaming-stick charged at him like a bull in heat at the last moment he just stepped aside.
The momentum carried the fat man onto the ancient railing that turned to dust and gave way and the fat man fell to the ground, screaming all the way down.

He didn't move after he landed.

The three friends stood staring at each other, confounded at the events so quickly transpired. They had woken up children, and now they had killed a man.

At no signal they all turned and looked at the box. The box had stopped screaming.

What's in the box?

"Let's flip for it," said Charles, ever the gambler. Thomas, ever the more cautious, did not have a better idea, so he took out his lucky copper piece.

His only copper piece, really.

"Call it in the air, chuck," Thomas said, flipping the coin in a perfect arc.

"Heads," said Chuck.

Tails, showed the coin.

"Go ahead, Tom," said Charles. "Go see what's in there."

Tom just nodded and pocketed his coin. He crept close, and saw the box was closed, locked with a simple latch. He would have to open it.

Charles and Joan stood close. Very close. Their hands found each other and grasped together tight. Tom saw them and sighed. He had loved Joan.

With nothing left to lose (or so he thought) he lifted the latch and lifted the lid.

Inside was a woman. No, women don't glow. And most women have clothes on. But it was a woman. A glowing, white, shapely, impossibly beautiful woman.

She looked at him with eyes as big as stars and the color of a new lake. "You have saved me," she said in a voice like honey and almonds and cold milk on a hot day. "I am Alanna and I shall serve you for all your days...."

And then she said the word. The one word. The one word that changed him forever.

"...Master."

Age 23:

"We should be able to make Trailsend by tomorrow, if you don't mind going long and hard," said the Eidolon, studying the map.

"You didn't seem to mind that last night," Thomas quipped, his familiar wry grin settling on his face.

Alanna returned the smile and packed the map. "Just make sure you stay on your toes. We don't want to run in to one of Lord Borak's hunting parties again."

"Fah! He doesn't scare me," Thomas lied.

As he watched Alanna take the lead, he watched her walk and reflected on his strange strange strange path his life had lead these many years.

After rescuing her, she had personally taken up his arcane education, instructing him on the ways of magic. How it hurts and how it heals. Before long he saw that there was nothing left for him in the Clearwater so the two struck out to make their way.

They cleared out a kobold den in Freedomtown and assisted a party of militia to slay an ankheg den in Itemrow. From there they subdued a clan of bugbears in Swabia and saved Neustria from an orc warband. There they teamed up with a stout dwarf named Flargin, and the three slew a marauding ogre tribe before he went his separate way at Poitiersville.

And always Alanna continued to teach his mind during the day, and his body during the night.

Thomas watched Alanna walk and smiled.

So, I think I'd like to make a priest of Mystra... not a cleric though. Well, not mostly at least. I'm thinking a wizard, picking up mystic theurge. There's a path that works by RAW, but I wanted to make sure you're ok with it: I would start as a 5th wizard with the 'faith magic' arcane discovery (with allows me to qualify for theurge), then I'd dip 1 level of cleric (to have a casting progression to advance) and start Theurge at 7th. He'd see himself as a priest and if it's possible to have some official connection to the church I would. Does that sound ok?

Fluff:

Growing up on the Isle of Evermeet teaches one to be both self-reliant and appreciative of their rich elvish heritage. Shi’Etel grew up surrounded with art, architecture and arcane arts. While he came to see the beauty in all of it, some things he would never be able to partake in. He was born without the ‘spark’ of magic in him. He had to learn from early on to overcome hardship, and not to depend on magic to survive. Shi’Edel learned these lessons well. While others would spend hours learning centuries old spells, this elf would spend weeks researching more mundane ways to achieve the same effect. He established an alchemical lab and he worked tirelessly in the workshop. He experimented with different components, combining them in a variety of way to develop his own formulas. As he grew older, daylight hours found him experimenting with different alchemical mixtures and tinkering with mechanical objects. The evenings however found him researching in the library. He felt he had to push himself to find and memorize every scrap of information he could find to make up for the fact that he would never cast a spell. These nights became so long that he would leave as the sun was starting to rise. The staff had derided Shi’Edel, mockingly hanging him with the moniker ‘Dawn Hunter’.

Shi’Edel was undeterred. He invested years trying to unlock these hidden mysteries and discover how base elements could duplicate magical effects. Working this way served as a welcome distraction from the difficulties of growing up without his mother. Atorai had left Evermeet decades ago without explanation. Shi’Edel and his father, Delahn, had been alone together since that day, politely shunned by society due to her departure.

Ten years ago, everything changed when Delahn explained on his deathbed the truth behind Atorai’s mysterious exodus. Atorai felt drawn to the Realms of Men, her divinations granting her some sense of impending danger. She had tried to have the Council investigate, but they were unconcerned with the fate of humans. Atorai left Evermeet to find whatever it was her visions were trying to show her.

Shi’Edel was stunned by the news, and enraged that the Council would be so callous. His mother had been gone for decades trying to solve a mystery without any help from those she depended on. With his father’s passing, Shi’Edel had nothing to keep him on the Isle. He decided to travel to the Realms and find his mother. When he arrived in Waterdeep, one of the first people he met was Flarghin Ironstone, a dwarf of some experience.

“Whas’yer name elf?” the ale voiced dwarf asked.
“Shi’Edel”
“Shiada what now? Anybody ever call you nuthin’ else?”
“Some in the Library called me Dawn Hunter, but I think that they--”
“Great” the dwarf cut in, “Shadow the Dawn Hunter it be! Nice to make yer acquaintance. Now drink up.”
In the years since that meeting, Shadow and Flarghin had seen much together, but no clue as to the location of Atorai or her mysterious quest.

Atlas, did you really literally use the same alias as the last game I GMd with you? I don't mind alias recycling, it totally makes sense, but to me Thomas Roland will always be a fast talking cannibal lawyer who banged a Seminole ghoul...its hard to wrap my head around it being someone else. Is it possible to C&P the character to another name? Thomas and I have too much history. If I chose you I'd keep expecting you to seduce the undead...or eat them...or both.

Nate, I'm not cool with loop hole early entry into dual class PrCs.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Well, that's why I asked. It's not actually early entry (I'd start theurge at 7th, like any other wiz/cl) but it does cost less lost wizard levels, so if you're not cool with that I understand. If that's not going to fly, I'd still like to do some kind of atypical priest... Maybe a magus, or a warpriest with VMC magus or something like that?

So, I think I have the concept down. This is Forgotten Realms so why not a Bladesinger?

A rather mobile scimitar-wielding Chaotic Good Male Elf Rogue (Unchained, Acrobat) 2/Magus (Spell Dancer) 3 to be precise. Traits will probably be Magical Knack and Metamagic Master (shocking grasp), while I will be replacing the Weapon Familiarity racial trait with Long-Limbed for a bit of extra speed (fluff-wise, still nicely proportioned and not freakishly tall or anything, just faster). Otherwise, he will be going straight Magus from now on and quite possibly investing in the Dimensional feat chain further down the road.

Basically a fast, agile and graceful elven warrior mage who was a bit of a scoundrel in his youth before following the family tradition and training in the ways of sword and spell. No worries though, he still remains scoundrely, roguish even. Father a Moon Elf, so a bit more relaxed, and mother a Sun Elf, so a bit... well, less relaxed, with Isandril -or Sand to his friends- combining physical traits from both of them. Demeanor-wise though? The kid takes after his father mostly.

Actual crunch and fluff to follow.

A warpriest with VMC magus would certainly be a different type of priest. It does sound very Mystra-esque, though.

After perusing the FR information available on-line, there is no date listed for the emergence of Vaalathrim from the Great Glacier, however it's referenced in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide which is post-spellplague. Should I just drop the Vaalathrim concept?

You can just tweak it that it's from undead coming out of the great glacier in general. Basically, from what I read, the dead city is starting to thaw out, but isn't really free, so I could see that leading to a trickle of undead every now and then, but not a whole swarm...

Or you could just go with undead from the Witch King's kingdom in the Vaasa, which is right by the Great Glacier, before Damara and King Dragonsbane took them out. That was less than a generation ago.

Well, since you offered... I have two more questions:
1) what are your thoughts on the spellfire wielder 3.5 feat? Is that something you might be interested in adapting/importing?
2) what about the idea of making an arcanist and flavoring his arcana/exploits as uses of spellfire?

I'm still trying to settle on a build for an atypical priest of Mystra (warpriest/VMC magus is still a possibility)- one of the things I was thinking was a wizard who used spellfire to heal, but I could accomplish something very similar (maybe better?) as a white mage arcanist if I can flavor some of the class abilities as spellfire?

Number 2 is totally cool with me. As for number 1...well...

From what I remember and read, it is very similar to Arcane Blast and the other feats similar to it that Paizo basically turned the Archmage class into. I would go that route, if you like that flavor.

Actually, reading through the ability it kind of does all that -and more- in one feat.

I'll tell you what - when you get Mythic, I'll let you take Spellfire Wielder as a Mythic Feat, and it becomes Silver Fire for one minute if you spend a Mythic Point. (Though with effects equal to your character level plus your mythic rank, rather than as a 20th level caster.)

I may regret that if I choose you. It's still a really cool concept, though, so I think it's a good decision.

Cool. I'll start working on an arcanist now with abilities/exploits based on and flavored as spellfire, and we can revisit the feat when we hit mythic (if I get picked, obviously).

Would you let a Psychic caster count as an Arcane caster for the purpose of Mythic abilities? After shopping around an Amnesiac Psychic sounded really rad, but it doesn't naturally mesh with any of the Mythic archetypes.

Probably. Most likely. Almost certainly, unless it just seems much more divine in nature, in which case, well, there you go. Like, to me the Occultist kinda seems more divine in theme.

But you asked about an Amnesiac Psychic, and that seems pretty arcane - but maybe that's just because it reminds me of Tellah from Final Fantasy IV.

Dang it. It's almost enough for me to make a low-CON spoony frivolously amorous bard... but no, I will stick to my hag-touched guns...
