Crackerjack (Storm Dragon) and Thomas - both teams went to a Fin mini-sub docking station to steal their subs - the subs are identical.

I see. This line confused me:

As you discuss how to get there, you all hear Dr. Destruction's voice in your head again "The mini-sub the missing team used was the only one I had available, but I know where you can get another" and he gives you GPS co-ordinates. It is in Star City.

Is there anywhere to discretely dock the subs nearby the base? Seems like it'd be kind of a pain to have to steal a new one every time.

Ooops, sorry for the ret-con, I'd totally forgotten I'd said that. If by "base" you mean the main group's headquarters, it's in the middle of Star City, far from any coastline (and the subs would be hard to miss, anyway).

probably just ditch em near the coast. Jack and Kat havent gotten the message from DD to join up with you permanently. But it can be brought up when they all deliver their debrief. On that note where was our old base? Maybe closer to the coast.

Right, that's why I'm thinking that we just ditch 'em near Southpoint and walk the rest of the way. (Remember Star City is a in the shape of a literal Star surrounded by water.)

Right, also on the reminder that there are two Hellion is more likely on the one with Jack. But is it safe to assume she nabbed their comm channel? Also she's probably piloting the second one since she's got driving, not the correct skill but it's better than nothing i'd wager.

"Right, well Jack we can probably just land it near the island I can get us both to land if we're close enough, you know i've got one hell of a vertical." She laughed at her own little joke openly on the communication channel(if she had it)

Once they surfaced and got contact with Dr. Destruction again.

"Hey Doc... Ehem.. Dr. Destruction, thanks for sending the secondary team, they kind of saved our bacon. Though it would have been nice to send them a day earlier cause we've been sitting down there for like three days now.. I did NOT pack for an extended stay. By the way me and Jack are the only ones left alive from the old crew, and I distinctly remember you saying no less than four to a team. I'm sad to report that Electo, Heavy Hitta, and Blackblade didn't make it, there was a complication and a... super fin. I don't know how to describe it, Jack can send you the details once he's done a scan I think.. but it's at the other teams base and we don't exactly know where that is."

She looked over the controls once more and course corrected. "Unless you've got any objections I'm gonna ditch this mini-sub near the edge of the island but we're going to go on foot from there."

Crackerjack deigns to acknowledge the joke.

"Ha."

He also nitpicks her report slightly.

"'Aberrant' Fin is I believe more appropriate. All Fins are 'super' comparative to the norm, but this creature was far beyond even that."

He does not object to Kat's suggestion to park the sub, merely grumbles under his breath about the loss of his portal gun, as Kat is probably used to (and/or thoroughly sick of) by now.

Sorry, between the holiday weekend and work I was gone for far too long...

So, it sounds like the groups leave the subs underwater and swim ashore, and then hoof it back to the main group's headquarters. The new team's HQ was designed for 4 or 5 people, while this one was designed for 9 or 10, so the new team moves in with the old one (you can go back to the old HQ and get your personal possessions off-camera).

Dr. Destruction comes on-line shortly after Kathrine speaks to him, and says "I am busy with many projects, and you are expected to be able to take care of yourself indefinitely without my help. You should consider yourself lucky that I sent a second team at all. I will send a team to pick up the Fin's body soon. Please await further orders."

What do you do?

ALL - by noon tomorrow (Wednesday, EST), I'll have posted something in Discussion that I'd like everyone to...well...discuss.

Paradigm, being that he was already self-reliant, had little to collect from the old place and settled easily into the new. He was determined to get as much information from the Fin's body before the boss man's other people came to collect it, so he spends a lot of time researching and performing experiments.

So they're moveing up with me an' Jack? Also I feel ya ZenFox this past week has been a pain between work and medical, but all good now.

Kat docks them fairly close to the island there was enough space for her to jump over with Jack to land and then they could be on their merry way to the base chatting idly with the other team along the way.

"Yeah... well things kind of went sideways real quick when Bet-er... Heavy hitta went into the room with the sardines herself, things just sort of exploded into weirdness. Either way, I really am glad you sent them. Hey you guys wanna get a bite I think we're pretty tapped at base? Got any vehicles bring em, I'm fast but running around everywhere is still exhausting."

If Jack wanted she'd use her enhanced speed to get them back to civilization where they may be able to 'hitch' a ride further. If not she ran ahead to do so herself.

So, you all make it back to the group-that-showed-up-second's base. The current residents give you keys, passcodes, ID cards, whatever, so that the new members don't set off the security and can unlock the front door.

After the new members get settled in (which may take a half a day to travel to their old base to get their belongings), the entire new group is settled around the dining/conference table, and the issue of what to do until Dr. D calls upon you again comes up. 3 ideas are suggested, and an order to do them in is also suggested. But now you have to work out the details of *how* to do the first heist...

After being pried from his work for a family meeting, Paradigm puts out his ideas. "So, I agree that getting some extra funds first is prudent, but the museum definitely needs to come next. As for getting into the bank, Thomas seems to have some pretty uncanny abilities to get into and out of places. The question is can he bring back anything with him? If not, Hrungir can open a dimensional bridge, if I'm not mistaken, but I'm unsure of the parameters of that ability. That said, I can certainly open a portal to the vault, but having not seen it will make it more difficult. I think my talents would be better suited to hacking their security and making sure we aren't seen in the vault."

Kat moved towards the 'family meeting from the kitchen with a glass of in one hand and a bottle of butterscotch schnapps in the other. "Well to be fair armoured trucks are a lot less security than high end banks, or museums housing priceless artifacts, which no doubt will be used to subjugate people on the 'history' of our V'sori rulers." she sat down to a plate with a MegaMac burger on it, she was on a budget for the time. Instead of her uniform she sat in a loose tanktop and jogging pants. Hair let down and wild to the one side, bare arms showed several tattoos adorning her crimson skin.

Her tail coiled under her own seat reflexively so as not to get stepped on, "Well Angel look at it this way. We have no gear with which to take down V'sori battle armor or vehicles, money can help us get those things. Us being more powerful will help as well. More cash in the hands of the Omegas means more guns to shoot at those fish-faces. Not everyone is like us, swinging swords that cut through time and space, shifting into deadly prehistoric creatures, or melting V'sori with their minds."

"Besides those, it's always good to keep our abilities sharp and our presence known. What good is a freedom fighter if the enemy is not constantly cursing our name?"

"Speaking of, we really do need a name. An identity outside of being Dr. Destruction's lackeys is necessary for us to truly shine on our own merits, after all."

"But I suppose that can wait. The bank heist seems simple enough. Ghost Man here-" he gestures vaguely at Thomas "Can simply enter the vault and steal the cash and whatever else valuable is in the lockboxes, then leave just as easily. It lacks panache, but desperate times must necessitate certain sacrifices."

"The museum on the other hand...here's where we can get creative, really leave our mark on things. We should do some recon, see what kind of defenses we're working with. With that done, a classic "locked room theft" has a certain appeal; if we can baffle the V'Sori on HOW we did the crime, leaving no trace of our presence except a calling card of sorts,...well, that is the PERFECT announcement of our presence to the world."

Dark Archive

Okay, here we go, time to get back to posting words and forget about the 12-14 hour days I'm starting have regularly now. =p

As the members, both new and old, sit around the table, an old-ish lady comes out of the kitchen and sits before everyone a plate of delicious-smelling baked chicken and a glass of code-red Mountain Dew.

Except for Katherine, who also gets a bottle of green-apple schnapps set in front of her. "If you're going to do that, do it right," she says motherly-ish before continuing her never-ending shuttle runs between the table and the kitchen.

Dark Archive

Thomas bows from the waist as Crackerjacks singles him out for praise. He washes down his bite of chicken with a swallow from his red glass and continues. "Ah, many thanks. Yes verily SWEET indeed will it be to rain down RIGHTEOUSNESS upon those that hath wronged me and mine so harshly."

He pauses to raise a glass and salute his mom who seems to take little notice.

"Now, you are correct on most things. I'll not need help to actually get in to the bank, tie up the employees, kill them slowly, relish their screams, and then leave with a bag full of money. That's just a normal Tuesday for me," he pauses to drink.

"Mind you, yes, the good Professor's help would be enjoyed thoroughly if he could run herd on the whole thing.

Of course, two things come to mind.

First, it is -possible- however unlikely, that I can't actually get in to a safe where the aforementioned money is kept. If they, I don't know how, get the door closed when I appear, AND die with honor without spilling the access codes, keys, or whatnot, I may need some help opening a door.

Also!

It dawns upon me that the most valuable thing in a bank is not money. It's -possible- that there are things in their safe-deposit boxes that could buy us -either- MORE money, or, most likely, the kind of influence that only formerly-thought-safe objects can bring.

I mean, sure, we all want to kill the South Side Slashers. No one's arguing that. But if we could get them to work for -us- based on what we got out of a safe deposit box?

But, I can't open several dozen (hundreds?) boxes all on me onesies.

Hence, if I could get some help in that area, that might turn this from a "good" raid into a F@@&ING AWESOME! raid."

He smiles.

Everyone would know that most banks these days have video security systems that would be able to detect anyone who's not invisible. Hmmm...

Everyone make a Common Knowledge (Smarts) roll at -6.

Intangiblity says that what the character is carrying goes intangible, but any people he's carrying do not (without the Tag Along modifier, which Thomas doesn't have). I'm going to say that carrying items inflicts twice the character's Encumbrance penalty to their Spirit roll to go intangible (and Failure requires a minute to recover from if Encumbered), so Thomas can carry 20 pounds without penalty.
Thomas, why is your Strength listed as d4(d8)?

So, to quickly empty the bank, everyone should be involved, which means getting past security systems (cameras, access codes, etc.).

feel like it's pretty appropriate to her overconfidence thinking that a simple plan is to stupid to fail.

"Your plan is...passable, for someone of your limited mental faculties. We need more information before proceeding, however. Our resident shapeshifter could run into a grid of laser wires and be sliced to pieces for instance."

"Going at night is as well a terrible idea. They'll have transported most of the money out by then. Plus we'll be lacking in hostages."

"We need to learn what day of the week the money is moved from the bank and distributed, and hit the day before that; this is when our take will be the biggest."

"Then we need to figure out what our attention getter will be...something flashy, to get the attention of our overlords."

"Ah! I've got it. We need to figure out a way to steal the bank vault itself, not just the contents..." he begins, then starts muttering to himself the details of such a plot.
