I'll go ahead and update to WBL 10 then. Glad everyone gets a chance at an upgrade! :)

If you don't count the potions you gifted us, I am right about wealth per level for 10 (62,030 in magic items). If you do count the potions, I am at 65,030.
In other words, I don't need adjusting, except downward, if you want me to drop something to hit the mark.
Don't worry about the potions. They were a gift from the GM and the party as whole might be needing them.

Hi, thanks for having me as well. Rogar isn't too polite fellow, so I'll try to make it up here in the discussion :)
I'm interested in the WBL, too. I have not spent very much on gear yet.
For the alchemist shenanigans: Is it possible to purchase potions of higher level?
Do you have a source for this ability, or is it just something that you wanted? I don't normally play alchemists, so I don't honestly know.

Is it acceptable to buy a ring of resistance? (I'm hoping to free my shoulder slot so I can have a cloak other than a cloak of resistance, namely the cloak of the night sky.)

I can't speak to what he might want them for, and certainly don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but since you're unfamiliar with the class, alchemists have discoveries that allow them to do things like duplicate potions or use a potion at their own caster level, etc.

The reason why I (and alchemists in general) are interested in high-level potions is this: Alchemical Allocation. In short: as a second level spell we get the potions benefits without using the potion. So for example CL 12-15 barkskin or resistance energy is kind of nice. But Rogar could brew his own potions for level 10, so it's not a big deal if higher CL potions are not available.

Okay, I see. I was confused. I thought you were asking if you could purchase potions of spells higher than level 3. I have no issue buying them at a higher CL, though it will cost a little more.

Faengrim and Dantes, go ahead and get enough to bring you up to WBL for 10th level, please.

Ok, thanks. I’ll finish up the character fri/sat.

Character is updated and ready to go. LMK if you see anything amiss.
So on reviewing the thread, both discussion and in game, I get that you want us to assume we've been recently promoted from crew so we can just join right up when the party goes back to the ship from where they've been adventuring. But is it okay to assume we might still be relatively new to the ship? (Not sure when you were last in port; it would make sense if we joined up after a recent attempt to build reputation). It may be hard to fake "oh yes, I totally remember when we all did x" given we the players weren't there, and even if as crew we might have been kept a bit in the dark. While I'm quite familiar with the tale of Skull and Shackles, I am also very familiar, therefore, there is a lot that can change based on how sandboxy you got, especially in book 2, (or if you swapped in Plunder and Peril) and what allies/enemies you have made and favors owed, so I don't want to make assumptions.
Could we also get some basic bullet points on what our characters do know about what's going on in the moment?
What are our roles on the ship? I assume Doc is ship's surgeon or surgeon's mate. I could be navigator or chaplain.

Just bumping these two questions. Would like to get GM and player input.

Uhh, almost there - still some unspent gold...
Anyway, slight changes: I took the toxicant archetype, if that's ok. Idea of Rogar being marinated in alcohol long enough to become toxic was quite funny.
Rearranged discoveries a bit to fit in precise bombs to avoid friendly fire.

Roles in ship: Surgeon would be quite natural for Rogar.

Where we are now, and what we are doing:
We won the annual Captain's Regatta, a race amongst pirate crew's around and through the edge of the Eye of Abednego. The prize for winning was the deed to this island, known as the Eye of Empty Eyes.
We have just landed within the past few days, and have started exploring.
There is a run-down fort near the cove where we landed, and it turned out to be occupied by a crazy man and some unfriendly spirits.
The crazy man told us about a magical Stone that can be used to get rid of the spirits that is somewhere in the interior of the island.
The PCs went exploring, and got into fights with some harpies and some dinosaurs. After that second fight, it was clear some back-up was needed.
We really don't know much about the ruins we just found, other than a likely place to find the Magic Stone.
Hope that helps!

Yes, thank you! I tried to read back a ways but hard to follow/find the key narrative between the recent combats, etc. Weirdly this is almost exactly where my last campaign left off.

Going to be away for the weekend and off the grid, though I should be able to get at least one or two more moves in before then.

Riori Stargazer |

FYI two things-- first, as noted, I can't seem to see the map. (I didn't realize this was on Roll20 but am trying to adjust quickly, but I got an error message trying to load the game. What should I be doing?)
Second, work is... in upheaval and while I am currently employed, I need to find a new job quickly. So please forgive me if I am slow, and please bot me if needed.

Riori Stargazer |

And now I'm dealing with a family emergency on top of things. May be offline. Please bot me as needed.

Hi, I'll be travelling until Friday next week. Please bot if needed.

Scary things, those heart failures. I hope your friend is recovering well.

![]() |

He is doing better. He is out of the ICU and home, but still weak. Thank you all for your well-wishes (and I'm sure that he would thank you as well).

![]() |

I will be out of touch from Tuesday to next Monday (going down to Disneyworld), but I hope to get a post up before I leave on Monday. Sit tight and I will return.

![]() |

Have fun!
I will also be travelling from Wednesday to the following Wednesday.

Riori Stargazer |

You have fun too! While we're at it, I'll be out Friday through Monday but we've got a few days to go before that happens.
