Everybody back and had a good weekend? Then let's get this show on the road. What are your plans to deal with the bridge and giants? Or are you just leaving them and continuing on?

Sorry guys, turns out I had to testify at an arbitration this week which has resulted in chaos and bedlam. I'm finally out but exhausted. Catching up now.

Ugh, just....ugh!

Sorry I had to break my own 24-hour posting rule. I had the misfortune to brick my phone on the very same day (Friday) that someone ran a truck into the fiber junction that serves my neighborhood. No internet all weekend. But, I should be able to post from work, so I'm ready to keep moving. Thanks for your patience.

I will be travelling tomorrow afternoon through Tuesday evening, and will not be able to post again until Wednesday. Please feel free to continue the gameplay, RPing as needed.

Hey, would you guys be interested in joining a Discord server for this game? I started doing this with my SFS games as a way for players and the GM to get questions answered or prompt for actions without having to wait for everyone to check the boards.

If anyone is interested, I will set one up. It will not be required, but I thought it could come in handy.

I don't Discord (but I Slack) and wouldn't be too interested in it as I'm loathe to adopt another social platform where I'm already spread too thin and also not sure it would help all that much.

Male HP 62, AC 19, Touch 14, FF 16, F9/R11/W5, CMD 19 Halfling alchemist 10

As I said in the Second Darkness, I'm willing, but don't do much with Discord. Not sure how much faster it would be for me.

I don't use discord... or even know how it works. ^^;
Besides which, I live in Europe. There's a substantial time zone difference.

thanks for the responses

I feel like the stonewalking might be most useful for Kipa or Storn, letting them get close to foes without being detected.

Female Gnome Witch 9/Brawler 1: Init +1; Perception +4; AC 12 (+1 Dex., +1 natural); hp 69; Fort +5; Ref +5; Will +6

FYI I will be travelling from Wed through Sun this week. I may or may not have much time to check in on the game. Please carry on as if I were still planning on posting once a day, and be patient if I can't. Thanks!

FYI - I will be gone this weekend as well, and will not be back in play until Monday.

Male HP 62, AC 19, Touch 14, FF 16, F9/R11/W5, CMD 19 Halfling alchemist 10

We might want to start figuring out what we want to do with the army, since it seems like everything else is just side quests at this point.

We have the big boom rocks so we could try to use those, but I wonder if we might want/need to try to sneak into the camp first? Are we just trying to destroy it/kill the tyrant or do we have other goals...

Male CG Human Warpriest 10 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (13 Tch, 21 Fl) | CMB: +12, CMD: 22 (+2 bull rush, +4 vs disarm) | F: +9, R: +2, W: +10 | Init: +2 | Perc: +3, SM: +7 | Speed 20ft | Spells: 6/6 5/5 4/4 1/1 | SW 10/10 | Blessings: 8/8 | CLW: 21/50 LR: 47/50 Fervor 8/8 | Active conditions: Beautiful

Yeah my hope was the side quests would reveal something we could clearly do with the army lol. Basically explore the valley, find allies and resources, tackle the giant death army at the end of it. IDK if that's the best approach but "how do you deal with an entire army with a handful of people" is a little daunting to chew on.

Female Gnome Witch 9/Brawler 1: Init +1; Perception +4; AC 12 (+1 Dex., +1 natural); hp 69; Fort +5; Ref +5; Will +6

We could try to poison their wells and food, perhaps?

Male HP 62, AC 19, Touch 14, FF 16, F9/R11/W5, CMD 19 Halfling alchemist 10

Oh yeah, I was hoping that too, Storn, but I'm starting to think that's not going to happen.

Poison's not very effective against giants, unfortunately -- which I realized after I made a character who was going to be based on poison use (of course, bombs are very easy to use vs. giants, so only a small change).

Why don’t we try filling them all with arrows?

/me sees bow in hand, sees the world as a target

Female Gnome Witch 9/Brawler 1: Init +1; Perception +4; AC 12 (+1 Dex., +1 natural); hp 69; Fort +5; Ref +5; Will +6

Maybe we should just try the assassin route: find out where the Storm King is, sneak into his hold and find a way to gank him when he's vulnerable. It'll be all sorts of nerve-wracking, but it's more survivable than trying to kill off the whole army.

I will be travelling (again) from Wed through Monday. I don't know what kind of internet access I will have. Please bear with

Sorry for the silence. Been an interesting week. 1 bar of phone signal every few hours does not make for the most effective communication. Man, I don't see how my in-laws live like that.

So, I am noticing a lack of plans for how to proceed here. You have all but traveled everywhere in Minderhal Valley, fighting giant patrols and a lot of bigguns that didn't make the cut in the Storm King's army. The only places you haven't fully explored yet are the main gate that you found, and that set of caves Kipa found that housed giant families.

Your mission is to disrupt the Storm King's plans for a massive giant invasion however you can - up to and including killing the warleader. You've been doing well so far at picking off the outlying elements, but haven't really encountered the "army" proper yet.

How about we take a few posts to discuss, either OOC or IC, your plans for how you want to move forward here? The game is stalling, and that's partly my fault for dropping off the internet for a week (planned or not), and I'd like to see it move forward.

What do you say?

Sorry, I definitely think I was confused about things. I thought we had more to do with the brick house. But if we’re done there, maybe you could put up the map of where we’ve been and haven’t so we can visualize it all better?

Sounds like we still need to explore more.

Male CG Human Warpriest 10 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (13 Tch, 21 Fl) | CMB: +12, CMD: 22 (+2 bull rush, +4 vs disarm) | F: +9, R: +2, W: +10 | Init: +2 | Perc: +3, SM: +7 | Speed 20ft | Spells: 6/6 5/5 4/4 1/1 | SW 10/10 | Blessings: 8/8 | CLW: 21/50 LR: 47/50 Fervor 8/8 | Active conditions: Beautiful

Yeah this may be a consequence of PBP format but from the PC perspective we have a gigantic army that's an impossible foe, and no real sense of how to approach it or tackle it. So response is to explore the area and figure out if the game gives us clues on what to do next.

A better sense of what we've done/not done and what's left is probably the best way to go.

Almkost certainly a factor of the PbP format. That and the fact that this is a near-impossible mission. I am sure you guys can figure something out.

Here is the map of where you have been

The yellow line traces your path over teh last week or so. I've included the gates and caves as the only areas where you have been that you chose not to explore fully. There is also an unexplored canyon system to the northwest.

Male HP 62, AC 19, Touch 14, FF 16, F9/R11/W5, CMD 19 Halfling alchemist 10

Yeah, my feeling was we're still hoping the game presents us some better options. Right now, I think we've got a couple choices: Sneak into the camp via stealth or subterfuge (we know there are some gladiatorial games) and work as assassins, or just try to use the big probably explosive rocks and see where that takes us.

Still, I agree that we should keep exploring a bit more to see if we have any other options and if not, we'll figure out what we want to do.

Female Gnome Witch 9/Brawler 1: Init +1; Perception +4; AC 12 (+1 Dex., +1 natural); hp 69; Fort +5; Ref +5; Will +6

We really need a better idea of the army's layout.

If we could get an idea of where they stockpile their critical supplies (food, drink, weapons, maybe explosives), we could probably think of a dozen ways to put them in misery and distract them while we work at getting closer to the Storm Tyrant.

I think it'd be helpful if I could Feral Speech Hex some birds and have them do aerial reconnaissance over the army. Even if they're not super-smart, we could get a rough idea of camp layout.

Male HP 62, AC 19, Touch 14, FF 16, F9/R11/W5, CMD 19 Halfling alchemist 10

I like that plan, Molly. Let's do that while we're on our way to the unexplored areas. It'll help us when we get back to the gates.

I'm moving this to the discussion thread, since I'm a little irritated.

I think when we post is fine, Kipa, and that you can only do so once a day. I often can't post more than once a day anymore. But even if the blurb from the GM was you reporting back -- and I made my own post with that assumption -- we had no idea what you wanted to do with that information until you posted.

We're still waiting on Storn, though I think we can assume he'll want to go in and fight.

More importantly, I think we all should know the deal by now. The GM posts, and then we post. Our posts should try to push the action forward -- some yahoo even wrote a guide about that. Just waiting means other people aren't going to post, and then eventually we just stop. I know as a GM, when I see people aren't posting, I end up not posting myself and that's the game.

Even if you don't know what we should do, give everyone some indication you're here. For example, in another game I'm in, we were in a situation my character couldn't contribute much. But I wanted to make sure people knew I was invested, so simply posted this:

Quote:
Nebbin nods, and waits to see what Tassira will do. He grinds his teeth, knowing there's little he can do to help in this situation. He's not smart like Tassira, or wise (or beautiful) like Kayleigh, or a good leader like Regeris and Emileva.

At the very least, post in the discussion thread to say you're following along (and hopefully enjoying things) if there's role-playing going on that you're not involved in.

We've got some fun characters here more than four years of posting together, but that doesn't mean a game can't die.

Sorry guys I was around and available until Thursday and for whatever reason was convinced we were waiting on a GM post so didn't check the thread. I loe this game so I'll make sure to keep on top of it. Unfortunately I was not around when things started moving again but am back now.

Good discussion, everyone. I think we have a plan to move forward now.

I need to clarify one thing, though. Is Molly flying up solo, with Kipa has a spotter, and the rest of you are waiting on the ground outside? Or are you going in?

Quill is staying on the ground unless there is a need to climb. As we're trying to draw the beast out, I doubt anyone is climbing, but I could be wrong.

That's my understanding as well. Sander plans to stay on the ground. If there's some sort of cover he can find, he'll make sure to make use of that too.

Okay, that's what I thought, but then Storn said something about preparing to go into the cave.

Well, yeah, that yahoo is nuts. You gotta check twice.

That's what I did!

edit: And it's not so much that he's nuts, he just prefers to charge straightforward into any and all situations...okay, yeah you're right.
