Poor Mawj. :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ftb09o6O7sw
Yeah. I mean, group dynamics would have you make another frontliner (which would also be your third). But I mean, hell, we can make whatever work. Play what seems fun. If Storn is the lone frontliner he's at least going to be pretty damn pleased with himself.

So, the way I handle PC deaths is like this:
- Feel free to liberate any consumables or mundane gear.
- Artifacts and quest specific items are also up for grabs
- general purpose magic items (weapons, armor, cloaks, etc.) are NOT available for recovery
Destroying these is the only way I have found to keep rampant deaths from illogically enriching the characters. I don't think it would be a problem with this group, and if you think you deserve to have his loot, I am open to that. But, this way there is actually no reward for letting a PC die.
Questions? Comments? Anti-fascism rants?
Tanner Nielsen
That sounds fair to me.
A few questions as I mull over character concepts. Without giving away any spoilers, do you think this campaign will accommodate:
Magic crafting? Will we have any regular downtime?
Mounted combat? Would I have trouble fitting a horse through a significant portion of locations?
Starting wealth?
Still level 4?
DM Bigrin
In order:
1) magic crafting - you can make some down time, though not usually more than a few days between modules. Most APs seem to want the PCs to reel from danger to excitement and back again.
2) Mounted combat - APs are not typically conducive to mounted combat, as at least 1/2 - 2/3 of the encounters take place indoors. The only exception, of course, is a small PC mounted on a medium creature.
3) Starting wealth equivalent to level 4
4) Character starts at level 5

I'll update tomorrow evening on my character, having a struggle with level 5 feat...

Would you consider Flagbearer? The Bard in the Carrion Crown game I'm in took it, and we all found it to be jolly useful. ^_^
Molly Blackfoot
Bah! I had second thoughts on the character concept. Then third and fourth thoughts. I will get it posted tomorrow.
What are you yourself looking for in the new character?
Tanner Nielsen
Well, at first I was going to make another skirmisher. I was thinking of an elf unchained rogue/fighter who would use an elven branched spear, combining Antagonize, Bruising Intellect, Combat Reflexes, and a reach weapon to taunt enemies and attack them before they could reach me.
But then I remembered that this is the Giantslayer AP, and you take a penalty to Intimidate checks against larger creatures.
So my second thought was...
Dieter Stolzdorf
This guy. I've always had a soft spot for enchanters.
But Tanner, I hate weeaboos.
So do I! I lived in Japan for 4 years. I cannot stand them. This kitsune is a serious-minded team player.
Also, it seemed like we could use more battlefield control. It feels like we've been pretty 'direct damage' lately. Thoughts?

How about trying the Tattooed Sorcerer archetype?
Get magic missile AND mage armour. They're essential basics.
It'll be good to have someone with ranks in Diplomacy; we'll have the main Charisma-based bases covered.
DM Bigrin
Okay, I haven't looked into it too deeply, but I found a couple of things that stand out:
1) I think your starting charisma was too high. The character creation rules say no stat above 18 after adjustments. From my calculations, you had a 19 before adding another point at level 4
2) I don't think you read into Overwhelming Beauty thoroughly. It increases the DC against creatures with the same SUBTYPE as you. Kitsune subtypes are shapechanger and kitsune. It won't work against all humanoids.

Thanks! I switched out enlarge person for magic missile. I might have to save mage armor for later. I need charm person and memory lapse for social encounters, sleep for combat, and identify is a bloodline bonus spell.

1. Fixed. Forgot about that.
2. You are correct, I read it on my phone. I swapped it for Honest.

Boss: Deific Obedience: Irori.
Please give me your thoughts, it is what I was planning on taking and I was second guessing it.
Is there somewhere I can see the specifics for this feat? d20pfsrd only mentions that the bonuses are described for each deity. I don't have the book.
DM Bigrin
@Hills - Deific Obedience is perfectly fine...BUT (the big kind) you have to be reading a book you have never read before, and I don't think you have one with you. You might be able to pick one up in the Vault or in the Fort, though.
@Dieter - If you are planning on using magic for social encounters, I encourage you to read the Components part of the magic casting rules. In a society that is well versed in magic, chanting in a strong voice and making precise movements of the hands is like as not to get you attacked. If you want to go that route, I suggest you investigate the still/silent/conceal spell feats.

Alrighty. Weekend from hell largely over with, though I have not really recovered from it yet. That said, updating character now. Sorry for the delay.

Hey anyone want in on a curse of the crimson throne game? The group is at level two. I'm converting a game with friends that was a hybrid of roll20 and pbp into pure PbP after I lost half the group. Currently have three players, two are newer to Pathfinder and PbP but are fantastic roleplayers. Starting here since I've extensively cross-pollinated my own games enough... even though at least two people here already play in games of mine. Heh.

How about a Tiefling Alchemist? :) Sound good?
GM SpiderBeard
@Molly - Sounds like we can have a conversation! Just running off to another thing, but spot me a PM with your character idea.
Dieter Stolzdorf
I read all of the new Weapon Master's Handbook feats and had fifth thoughts. This is it. No take-backs.
Dieter's family traces its lineage to the Land of the Linnorm Kings, home of the reclusive and brutal northern folk. His forefathers found ready work as mercenaries, campaigning during the harsh winters and returning in the spring with bounties for their family. This established a tradition of sorts, with each passing generation choosing whether to take up the mantle of 'coin-sword.'
Coming of age as a man, his father decided one spring that it was time for Dieter to join him on a venture southward. They skirted the coast, where a trading caravan just outside Riddleport hired the company to escort them to Lastwall. After several uneventful weeks, the caravan was attacked by a band of orcs south of the Mindspin Mountains. The company was victorious, but Dieter's father fell in battle along with most of the guards. The merchant caravan made it through, and unceremoniously dropped the boy at the church of Gorum at Castle Everstand.
Dieter was taken in by the clergy of Gorum and did odd jobs and manual labor to earn his keep. He trained with the soldiers stationed at the keep and learned warfare at a young age. In time, he grew into a man, with great height and sinewy limbs thanks to his northern blood. In battle, he prefers to mix it up on the frontline and looks for opportunities to engage orcs in particular.
Recently the garrison commander, Captain Gauntwood, decided to sent out several reconnaissance teams to test the border strength of Belkzen. Dieter was chosen to accompany the team. Their mission went well for several weeks, until they happened upon a trio of marauding hill giants. Dieter was knocked unconscious in the melee, and awoke to find himself surrounded by the dead. He has wandered the wilderness for two days now, trying to find what to do with himself...

I'm so sure I saw a feat or a spell that lets you change your familiar into an arcane bond item and back again, but now I can't seem to find it anywhere.... Do any of you know what it's called?
Storn of Gorum
Hope things settle out!
Sander Thistlewight
Noooo! Dagnabit, he didn't even get to introduce himself. Thank you, kind GM, for sparing him. Although with the way things are going, a TPK is within the realm of possibility.
Ah, once you're all dead and I don't have to worry about splash damage, I can get back to my bombs... She's soaked up a lot of damage, so has to be close to dead.

My wife returns home tomorrow, so my posting might likely be curtails some until she leaves Jan. 8. I usually have some time to post, but feel free to DMPC me if I'm holding things up (for example, I think it's likely I won't have time to post at all Friday or Saturday, though after that I should still be able to).
