Had to drive eight hours today since my wife's aunt passed away suddenly... I have no mind energy to read and post. Tomorrow we go back, but since the distance is the same, I'll probably only post on Friday. Copying and posting this on all my games.

I want to bribe some of those high-soaring birds to tell us what the giants' movements in the area are - with food, of course.
The birds are supposed to be here, so they shouldn't be suspicious. Also, they won't actually be under a spell; they'll be doing their thing, just so long as we pay them. They'll be ideal for getting us a good idea where the enemy is, so we can ambush and hamstring them!

Sorry wildly busy these past couple days catch up this weekend.

GM SpiderBeard |

Annnnd back apologies for my absence. Big event planning over now and I can return to something vaguely resembling normalcy.

Hey guys, I know life has sent several of us into a tailspin recently. On top of that, sandbox play like what we have going on here can send us into options overload where too many choice make it impossible to get anything done.
How can I help you guys move the story along? Would you like fewer options (i.e., more of a linear path)? A battle to focus on while you think about how to approach the camp? Something else?
I am here to help you tell the story, but right now we are heading into a no-post spiral that will doom this game.
Consider this your poke.

I believe fewer and clear options are going to help a lot. Right now we have many options and possibly some of them are not either actual options, like we are worried about A, B, C, and D, but I'm fact C doesn't exist and D is too complicated as an example.
I know this defeats a bit of the purpose of a sand box game and limits creative solutions, but if you could say something like: based on what you know, you could do X, Y, or Z. Then we quickly vote and we are moving again

I think a little direction could be useful.
On the map, we've already had an impact on:
N - Slave Pen
G - Mammoth Stockade.
The main targets we know of are:
Skirklata - immortal(?) frost giant jarl in charge of the camp - unknown
Gregganor - second in command - unknown
Qupenarth - mess hall - E
Rohkinirr - brewmaster - K
Dybrllos - Undead cleric - P
The Wickerman - S
I think the Wickerman might be the most passive with a big morale hit. The brewery is next to a longhouse and tower. The mess hall is under a tower.

I'm truly sorry to do this, but I'm going to have to take a leave of absence from the paizo forums for a while.
This year hasn't been much fun for any of us, I'm sure. And just last week, two people at my job have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
I'm not feeling ill myself, but I am having serious trouble finding the headspace to game. 'Stuff' just keeps piling up, even if it doesn't affect me directly - yet.
I'm not sure when I'll be back. Of course I hope it'll be sooner, rather than later. Please bot my character as appropriate.
Again, I'm sorry to do this; you guys are a great group to game with.

Guys, unfortunately this was the sign I've been waiting for. Between characters leaving, people delaying, and a general sense of no progress, I think I am going to call this game "a good try". I enjoyed playing with you all so much, but this one game in particular seems to feel more like a slog than fun for me. The writing has been on the wall for a while, I just didn't want to pull the trigger.
I am pulling it now.
Thank you all for a great game, and I look forward to playing with you in the future.

Bummer. I'm disappointed to hear it. I've been in one of your games for eight and a half years now, and I'll miss them. Sander was a lot of fun to play, and in my mind, he's going to make it home to safety with his lovely wife.
That said, I certainly understand giving up on a game that you're not enjoying. I've had to do the same, and after five-plus years, that's certainly a good, long run. Thanks. And if you plan any other games (especially 2e), let me know.

DM Bigrin |

Thanks, mott. 2e is currently my gaming passion, and I have been running PFS2 scenarios over on the Roll for Combat and Cayden's Keg discords for a while now. There is a lot less GM and player investment in Society games, with far fewer drops and prods. Feel free to join me there.
I also run a regular Friday Night Fights on Friday afternoons and evenings (EST) for PFS quests and scenarios.
If anyone would like for me to run PFS games here on paizo forums, I could be convinced.

I totally understand the feeling. I really liked the few moments we have spent in this game and I wish you all a good time and good future games!

Dammmmn.
My own posting has been struggling even though I love this game dearly it's been flagging and frankly the open nature of Giantslayer is a challenge. Sandboxes are hard in PbP.
Thank you so much for the years together. This has been a fantastic game and I got to show the best of what's probably my favorite character of all time.
