I prefer 'strategically consistent'. The cliff is going to be hell for Storn in his armour - best we flush the nasty lizardthing out.
Kipa |
Hey all. I just finished chatting with Dm about all of this before talking with you all.
Im going to be bowing out of the game. I am not able to keep up and it slows you all down too much. That and it is just not enjoyable for me at the moment. It feels like home work more than a pass time.
This has nothing to do with any of you all. You have all been a great group to tell a story with and play with. This is 100% me and my mentality at this time. It is not fair to you all to have some one who is not invested 100% and can only post the minimal amount at best.
DM has access to Kipa and all his info so he can be bot-ed for the time being until he dies or you all get back to town and find a new trap guy. Unless you all find a player who would like to pick him up and run with him. While running him if any questions pop up about how my sheet was organized, let me know & I will help out and translate my odd organization of it.
I just wanted to thank you all for allowing me to take part in this as well as dealing w/ my slow post responses over the last several months. You all are a great group and the story you all are each telling with you PCs are amazing. Please keep being awesome.
Thank you all again.

Hey Kipa,
Thank you for letting us know, and your consideration. I always appreciate when people are up front instead of just disappearing. Sorry the game stopped being enjoyable, and hopefully you get back into the gaming mood.
Best of luck!
Ayep to all this. Best.

Rule one of a game is that if it isn't fun, it's not worth the time. And I get it, a good game can still feel like an obligation in certain headspaces.
Thanks so much for your contribution and it was great playing with you!
DM Bigrin |
Well folks, there it is. We're now down a rogue (but a good friend is getting his RL issues handled, so net win!). The question is, how do you want to proceed? Do you want me to round up a replacement? If so, what kind of character do you want (healer, skilmonkey, arcanist, etc.)? We have plenty of time to introduce one in the giant camp.
Storn of Gorum |
Someone who can stand up in melee and do roguish stuff would be kind of ideal. Also understanding that since we're outdoors a lot with huge targets, some maneuverability would be super useful.
Quill the Fletcher |
I’m pretty open in terms of class or role, in fact, that’s the least important part of it for me.
I care *much* more able getting a player who wants to roleplay and push and post. Someone who has fun gaming and interacting with others. That’s priority #1.
Whatever they want to play that gets them posting and leaving hooks and picking up hooks, have them play that. Even if it is another dumb elf archer (heck, we might need a back up after Molly murders Quill).
Sander Thistlewight |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I would say role-wise, we need another melee combatant of some sort (probably with some sort of trap checking skills). Without Kipa, Storn would be our only person in melee combat, while Quill, Molly and I all prefer to stay well away.
That said, I also agree with Quill. Even if the new person wants to play an elf archer, then at least we'd have one competent one in the party. :)
I'm happy to mention the game in some of my other games, where I like the players.
Storn of Gorum |
And yeah. We could have a third warpriest for all I care, but if we get someone who helps drive the game that's critical.
Storn of Gorum |
Seconded - five is the sweet spot.

Ozone, see below, and more commentary above.

Welcome and sounds fun!
Storn of Gorum |
Okay so here's the full plan as far as I can tell.
- Molly flies solo
- Storn gets enlarge person (20 minutes) and ant haul (all day) cast on him. This gives him a ~500 lbs light capacity and ~1,000 lbs medium capacity. Should be able to carry Quill, Sander, and Chwaer.
Storn then drinks extract of fly, and zooms up to the cathedral where he can alight at whatever location looks most appealing (I'm going to default to the back unless there's a nice balcony).
The big issue here is the time involved. Sanders' extract will only last eight minutes. Does it take eight minutes to fly to the Cathedral from here? Or do we have to walk part of the way and then fly or... anyways you se the trick.
If it only takes eight minutes, the bag of holding has air for 10 minutes. Someone can pop in there to save on invisibility spells.
This is ludicrous and I love it.
DM Bigrin |
The catheral is less than a half-mile away. 8 minutes of flight will easily be sufficient to get you over the palisade and to the building itself, as long as you don't dilly-dally.
As for the Bag of Holding...okay, but just this once
Sander Thistlewight |
I have plenty of invisibility and alchemical allocation extracts. Chwaer can take one of the backwashed ones. That said, I do think we need to have Chwaer check to see if there are guards at the tunnel entrance, which I expect there is. I think we kill them and THEN take all the potions and move quickly.
Storn of Gorum |
Sounds good to me!
Molly Blackfoot |
Spell selection for our big day:
0 - Detect magic, Light, Message, Stabilize
1- Burning hands x 2, Mage armor, Silent image, Sow thought
2 - False life, Inflict moderate wounds, See invisibility, Twilight haze
3 - Dispel magic, Lightning bolt, Summon monster III
4 - Enervation, Summon monster IV
Got some flash, some crash, some support and some utility. Silent image and Sow thought are there to get us past the dumber sentries; See invisibility and Dispel magic in case we need them. Twilight haze to cover our retreat.
If you all have suggestions for improvement, I'll be happy to hear them.
Chwaer Moltengem |
Out of pocket this weekend - soccer tournament out of state.
Was that an attack Sander? Chwaer is too far away to do much more than move but she could get up there and try and hit as the trolls pass.
Chwaer Moltengem |
I meant this part :)
As he gets closer and realizes the guards are out there, he pulls an orc bomb he's been holding onto since Trunau and throws it ahead of his companions. Sorry, I've done my best to find the stats on these damn things, and I can't. Not sure if they're the unerring grenades from early on, but definitely from Book 1.
Storn of Gorum |
Sorry guys I'm miserably ill. GMPC for now but I'll try to get back to posting come tomorrow.
Storn of Gorum |
Doing just that, thanks.

Buying (assuming things are avaiable):
4500 gp 6*750 wands CLW
.750 gp oil of daylight
1600 gp 2*scroll of restoration
------
6850 gp
Looks like we’re 2 wands down, 4 to go. In case you were wandering about our healing supplies.
Quill has one with 50/50.
Storn will get one with 50/50.
Sander will get one with 50/50.
And heck, good ol’ Molly will get one with 50/50.
Dwarves get squat. No offense if you’re a dwarf. Just how things work out.
Storn of Gorum |
Thank you for sharing the wands mama Quill. <3

Heads up: it's our busy season and we're having a merger, so work is kicking my butt. =_=; If I'm holding things up, please feel free to bot me. Things should calm down around New Year's.
DM Bigrin |
Okay folks, we are going into the meat of the silly season now, and I am going to have real difficulty posting regularly on a daily basis. What I propose is that everyone post when and how you can. If we come to a blocking point, we'll all grab a mug of libations and wait for it to resolve, or if someone knows they won't be able to post for their turn and they want to be botted, they can let their teammates know that.
Overall, I don't want game time getting in the way of RL celebrations...but I don't want anyone who really wants to play to be left hanging.
Deal?
Sander Thistlewight |
Just wanted to note that I've just changed back to a second shift at my job; if anything, I think it means I'll likely be a little bit more consistent in posting, though my time of posts will probably switch to most often in the late mornings/early afternoons. I'm not sure how often yet I'll be able to post in the evenings with the new job.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas season and is gearing up towards a great New Year!
I am fully back now, and am ready to start fielding those 1/day posts as you guys make your way back to the game. I answered a couple of questions in the gameplay thread, but Molly's the only one to make definitive actions for this segment. So go post!
