We don't know who we are, where we are or what we are. I am a rabbit!
Players guide has a map. We're at the commons, which is area 4 in the upper part of town.
Also, you're looking tasty Mr. Rabbit.

Lanneth |

Here is draft 1 of my Fluff for Lanneth.
Let me know your thoughts on it, particularly you Foxy, since you play a pretty major role in it.
It's a strange thing realizing how different you actually are from the others around you. Some Seasons ago I sent out to visit one of the places I remember from my childhood. A town I lived in as a youth while my parents aided the crusaders on the Hordline: the town of Trunau. I had heard there were periodic giant sightings in the area near there, and I was thinking that I could get a head start on finding one for further study by talking with some of the people my parents used to know.
Can you see the flaw in my logic yet?
In my years of study Kyonin I don't think I ever realized just how much the passage of time affects the younger races. Back home, I'm still young compared to the masters. But to the humans of Trunau half a dozen generations had passed since I left here. None remained of even the Grandchildren of those I knew. But there were signs of Giants beyond the walls of the town in the forests near the mountains. Not many, but mixed in with the mess created by the Orc clans the signs of passage were there.
And so I stayed. I had more chances for observing Giant habits here, then back in Kyonin. Yes it was mostly Hill Giants, but honestly it is probably better that way. They are so stupid I could observe them without them noticing.
And the Orcs, well they only hunt things that run, after a few seasons of setting up wild gardens of berries, tubers and mushroom rings, I didn't have any worries they would find me, as they walked right past my Caw numerous times, and never even noticed my wild gardens. When I had something I could not make myself, I visited Trunau and traded some healing for what I needed. It seemed to work out right up until this spring. Something with the Orcs changed, and I can't say for sure what it was, but encounters with them suddenly seemed more frequent. In fact they almost caught me one evening while I was gathering mushrooms. Two bands seemed to converge on one of my gardens at once. They would have caught me if my companion Reverla had not flown off leading them away.
As they chased the poor owl, I was able to slip away back to my Caw. I was confident he would be alright, as he had done this before, so it was all the more of a shock when the agony of his last moments and searing pain of the severed connection shot through the link. the pain shook me to the core and I remained inside for days, too depressed to leave.
I finally worked up the will to venture out again on a day when nature itself reflected what I was feeling. I left the Caw in that afternoon to pay my last respects to Reverla's spirt and pray to Mother Moon. The comfort from laying my pain on Mother Moon helped, but it was by no means her greatest gift that day. That was saved for later when I returned home. My mind was occupied when I returned to my Caw and so it took me a few moments to realize was I not alone inside, for under my meditation place was a fox. What happened next can only be described as a gift from the spirits. For as soon as it looked at me, it was as if the gaping hole in my spirit left by Reverla's death was suddenly filled. The pain became a distant memory and my spirit sang in jubilation.
For the next few weeks, I carefully coaxed the shy creature out of its shell and trained it to be my companion. And what a fine companion she has become. She still does not like being in crowds, and for some reason takes joy in snatching up things. Like that strange bag she kept under the meditation place. The bag contained a rapier, metal tools and gold. I have no idea how a fox even found and carried a rapier, much less why she wants it, but it seems to be important for some reason. But none of those things matter compared to how well she works with me, and strangely how wide a range of emotions she makes me feel.
It was actually this fox that alerted me to the latest giant band that was coming through. On one of her scouting missions she saw them a ways away and it quickly became clear that they would camping in the clearing in front of my Caw. Even with all the work I did to disguise my Caw, it would clearly be seen by a group spending the night that close, so I had to pack what I could, gather my new companion and run. Where we will eventually end up, I haven't figured out yet, but I plan on spending a few days in Trunau while my fox and I figure it out.

Yorikata - fox |

I like it. Especially the part with your former owl companion. For it makes no sense for Lanneth to be a commoner for hundreds of years, but I hadn't thought of this possibility.
And 'training the fox' is a bit like 'making experiments with mice' in Hitchhiker's Guide Through The Galaxy ;)

Yorikata - fox |

No Lanneth does not yet know that Yorikata is not a simple fox.
And we are in Trunau, because Lanneth's hut in the woods close by were destroyed by giants and we had to flee.
@Lanneth
But we are lacking a specific room in Trunau yet. Shall we take a room in the Ramblehouse(8 on the map)? It seems to be the only inn in town.

Lanneth |

Oh the stories aren't that long... But I did have a lot to cover to set up the character.
And yes, we need to get a room for tonight.
Not that I expect to be sleeping much, given what I've heard about the first day being really harsh in this AP.

Lanneth |

@Yorikata: what do you want Lanneth calling you as a fox, given she doesn't know your name is Yorikata? Foxy? Quickpaw? Given you are a familiar you would understand language, so she must talk to you...

Yorikata - fox |

As with all familiars you are free to name yours.
In another game I have an animal companion. I planned on naming that wolf Tunstall - celtic for "Hammer of Thor". But as I got him later in game and we 'found' him in a dungeon someone else called him Fluffy. And the name stuck :)
As I assume, you like your familiar and it will be a nice name, feel free to name her yourself. Conveniently Yoritaka understands and speaks elven, so you could even go for that.
But please not foxy and not quickpaw.

Lanneth |

Ok then if you don't care, I'm calling you Kuma after the fox in one of the many stories I've read over the years.

Lanneth |

@DM Raltus: Does Yorikata know what she found?
Last I saw was her asking you what she should roll.

Yorikata - fox |

I rolled a survival check the first time I walked through the room, to get tracks of the people to follow. For the second one trying to sniff out people who were in the room I didn't roll.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Yorikata __ |

Balder smiles.
I'm not being nitpicky, just don't have anything investigative for Balder to do at the moment so I'm just giving him character RP stuff to do so i can post. :)
And more roleplaying will arise, once we meet Sara again. For I'm nitpicky ;)

Lanneth |

Boy I"m glad Yorikata can talk. Because the rest of the party really would be lost trying to talk to people without her.

Yorikata __ |

Now that you point it out...
I just checked the stats. This party is as charismatic as a bucket of coal. Everyone but Yorikata used CHA as a dump stat. And not a single rank in Diplomacy :D

Lanneth |

I normally try to avoid that, but given this is a witch, I figured it worked this time.
But seriously she's starting to turn more and more into an elven Sherlock in my head. All Brains no personal skills.

Does that make me Dr. Watson? :D
Raltus, if possible I'd like to have some time with Lanneth to talk, before the next day, once the investigations are over.

Yorikata - fox |

We do that without diplo rolls, right? If not this might end with you lying in front of your bed and trying to talk a fox to come out from under it again ;)
It will indeed be interesting as I have no idea how to start that conversation yet.

Lanneth |

Remind me not to make my familiar mad... She will be able to take me out with one good bite!

DM Raltus |

The poison track simulates the progressive effects of poison in the body. A character who is poisoned rolls a saving throw after the listed onset at the listed frequency. On an initial exposure to poison, regardless of whether her save succeeds, a victim takes an amount of poison damage equal to the poison's DC – 10, divided by 2 (for example, 5 points of poison damage for a DC 20 poison). This is hit point damage, not ability damage. If a victim is exposed to additional doses of the same poison, a failed save progresses the poison track by one step and increases the duration by 50%, but doesn't increase the DC.
Strength Poison Track
Healthy—Weakened—Impaired—Staggered—Immobile—Dead
Weakened: A character weakened by Strength poison suffers a –2 penalty on Strength-based attack rolls, damage rolls, skill checks, and ability checks. Her carrying capacity is divided by 3. She is always considered to be carrying at least a medium load.
Impaired: A character impaired by Strength poison experiences rapid muscle atrophy. She takes an additional –2 penalty on the affected Strength-based rolls, and is always considered to be carrying at least a heavy load.
Staggered: A character staggered by Strength poison is so weakened that she suffers the effects of the staggered condition (except she can take a full-round action if it is purely mental).
Immobile: A character rendered immobile by Strength poison cannot move her body at all. She is helpless and can take only purely mental actions.
Dead: All the character's muscles cease functioning, including the heart.
The DC of the poison is actually 16 since it has the advanced Template, so the damage you will take is 16-10/2=3
So you need to make 4 rounds of Saves till you make one, you will progress down the chain until you save or the poison runs its course.
So you could make it all the way to Immobile while taking 3 damage a round basically. Balder needs to make the saves even after the spider is dead. So one more "this Round" then 3 more

Yorikata __ |

Balder kills it just it won't attack again if Lanneth kills it before he gets to act
That's utterly optimistic. +7 to hit is not bad but an advanced giant spider would normally have AC18. Which is less than 50% chance.
Creatures with the advanced template are fiercer and
more powerful than their ordinary cousins.
Quick Rules: +2 on all rolls (including damage rolls)
and special ability DCs; +4 to AC and CMD; +2 hp/HD.
Rebuild Rules: AC increase natural armor by +2; Ability
Scores +4 to all ability scores (except Int scores of 2 or less).

Lanneth |

Ya, the chances of me killing it are REALLY low. AC 18 with a -2? Ya I have to roll a 20.
I'm not much of an archer.
I need to look at my spells/hexes because this immune to Mind effecting is really hard to work around for her.

Lanneth |

Hedge Witch, Healing Patron and Healing Hex.
Not a full cleric, but I'm guessing I will do just fine.
