Some game developer has too much fun killing PCs, I'd say. Four assassins with CDG against a party of four to five characters would lead to several deaths.

With at least double weapon damage for an average of 11 damage (2d6+4) and a resulting fort save of DC21 with the fort saves usually between +0 and +7 at level 2. And then half the party faces four enemies in their nightgown. I don't see how that should find a good end.

The least thing that would require is all of the party in one room, that one awake, means all awake. Everything else will lead to heavy improvisation on part of the GM to keep the party alive.

But to be fair to the developer: We are investigating an unresolved murder in exactly this house. And we know that the murder is still on the run. We could have wasted a thought to the possibility that this murderer who wanted to cover something up from Rodriks investigations might come after us, when we investigate the same things.

Plus we know that someone in town already wanted to kill us by sending the wolves. Which in sum makes us look pretty stupid.


I kinda want to see what Balder can do so I don't want to kill him.

Let us be a little metagamy here. This thing is going to slam at you with +2 with a 35% chance to hit and for you a 25% chance to make the save. This is a 26.25% chance per round of you ending up inside the cube.

Assuming none of us misses the cube as its AC is really low for the following damage per round:
Balder 13
Dain 7.5
Lanneth 4.5
Yorikata 3.5

That's actually not that bad. But as soon as one is lost to the cube it gets harder to finish it off. At least we'd need better tactics than to stand in a row in a tunnel approaching this thing one after another, to wait for our turn to get swallowed.

Yeah listen i know that fighting a cube is silly but Balder thinks he can take it, he's wrong but he doesn't know that. I'm just playing him a little head strong, If I really wanted to stay and fight it I would have posted a much different reaction. Sure. Looked at is realistically you might even be able to take it. With some lucky rolls, even on your own. And being the reckless hero is a nice RP trait.

But those things scare the s@~+ out of me and I see TPK written all over it.

When looked at with science (read: math) it becomes more clear why this thing is only CR3 and kinda manageable. So it helps me to rant about it and add some numbers.

Further I have some issues to translate that into roleplay. Yorikata's first impulse would be to run. Only if Lanneth stayed there to fight she would too. She'd have no issue leaving Dain and Balder who she met yesterday to their doom if swallowed by the cube. Which would be a dick move as a player.

So dragging you out looked like an option to get away without leaving you to die. Even though it didn't work out.

Yeah I mean I'll RP stuff not be unreasonable or dumb. Heck one of my real life players will argue till veins pop in his head 'because that's what his character would do!!" even though everyone else has reasoned in game why not to do something. And hey maybe once in a while it's fun, but too much is baaaad and he's the worst. I eventually suggested that he not play with us anymore, which he did and now plays in other games and has another group. But that particular game he was just making a nightmare for everyone.

Learn from a Scroll: A witch can use a scroll to teach her familiar a new spell. This process takes 1 hour per level of the spell to be learned, during which time the scroll is burned and its ashes used to create a special brew or powder that is consumed by the familiar. This process destroys the scroll. At the end of this time, the witch must make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + spell level). If the check fails, the process went awry in some way and the spell is not learned, although the scroll is still consumed.

Lanneth knowing that she is the ONLY magic support for this party, has Use Magic Device. So I might not be able to learn the spells, but I sure can use the scrolls down the line.

Plus 50gp 1:1 sell items

Which sums up to about 500 gold plus the magic consumables. That's enough for one mwk weapon if it's no bow.

I checked on hold portal and that scroll is worth 25gp. So we're out of luck about buying something big. Only chance would be to talk Kurst out of something from the watch.

That hopeknife is Brinya's, the one that will be given to her is Rodrik's which she has presently. That is what is causing the issue.

Ok, question, do we know if the druid of the grove (name escapes me) can wildshape?

Long term we need to get rid of this stupid raceism or it's going to cause us problems.
I'm wondering if we can use the druid's shapeshifting to show that the body doesn't matter and that the spirit is what makes a person them... Then threaten to polymorph the stupid red-necks into half-orcs if they don't start treating people like their actions deserve.

I would love to have Alter self as a spell so I could change myself into a half orc and find out if they think I'm different now.

It's a shame that it is a few levels still until you can suit the action to the word with baleful polymorph. But I guess a funeral is not the right place to beat some sense into them :P
