Well the spell creates horses or Ponies.
And Ponies were often used in mines. So I could make one of those for you...
I assume, you can mix and match ponies and horses, it doesn't say so explicitly, but it seems to make sense.
Would that make you feel better you horse hater? ;)

Gran't' |

I didn't actually determine his height or weight.
Lemme do that.
I want him to be short but heavy. Minimum height is 4ft. Max is 5ft.
I like 4'3"
Weight minimum is apparently 150lb. Max is 234.
I think somewhere just over 200lbs. Lets say 207lb.
With gear:
Only gear he has of any reasonable weight is Uskroth's Armor at 100lbs.
So for other small stuff he might have, call it 320lbs.
According to the bestiary entry for ponies:
A light load for a pony is up to 100 pounds, a medium load is 101–200 pounds, and a heavy load is 201–300 pounds. A pony can drag 1,500 pounds.
So a pony does not work.
A War Pony would work though. But not quite the same thing.
A 'riding' boar would also work. Str 17 and quadruped.
Otherwise its a horse.

Mount only creates Riding Horses and Ponies.
So either Gran't' would have to take a Horse or we buy a Mount for him and bring it through the marsh/dungeon. (Which could make for fun RP)
So lets see with the 2100 gp - Looks like I'll try to get.
Scroll - Mudball (25 gp)
Scroll - Unseen Servant (25 gp)
Scroll - Mount, Communal (150 gp)
Wand - Cure Light Wounds (750 gp)
Since I won't have enough money for a handy haversack...
Any chance that the town has a Quick Runner's Shirt (1000gp?)
Let me know what of that list I can pick up in town and I'll roleplay from there.

OK, Just wondering as I was reading through my eventual spells I came upon a VERY interesting spell. Barrow Haze - 3rd Level.
In effect A fog cloud spell, that the witch can see through, and as long as you are within 30 feet of the cloud, you can consider any creatures within the cloud to be in range of your hex.
The problem is the same thing that happened when I used Obscuring mist, everyone else had a problem fighting....
So I was thinking: Giants are 10+ feet high.
So is it possible to drop a fog cloud 5 feet off the ground, so the giant is affected by it, but all the rest of the characters can run under it?
Thus as long as it is in the cloud the giant would have a 20% or 50% miss chance vs the party, while the party would not have any miss chance at all (as they are attacking the giant's legs)
The giant could probably avoid this by Squeezing down below the cloud, but that would give him the -4 to AC and to Hit.
Does that work? What am I missing?
Sorry not to be cheese, but Lanneth is smart so she's going to be looking for every tactical advantage after seeing how she almost died last time she faced a giant skeleton. And how the fog cloud didn't work as well as she liked vs the first giant.

DM Raltus |

5' isn't going to be high enough. Dain and Gran't' sure but I bet you, Balder and Yorikata are all over 5' tall, you could not enlarge Balder to give him an reach advantage.
Maybe at 10' you could as long as the giants and sure are that tall, 5' wouldn't be high enough to me.
I would say the Giant would have 20% miss chance and +4 to AC since you could only see 1/2 or less of it's body. It would work like cover in the idea that you also wouldn't get an AoO on the giant since if someone has cover you don't get an AoO

Lanneth |

Acutally, it would probably be Concealment, not cover just fyi...
Hmmm so probably would work better if the giant if 15' tall and I put it 10' up.
I'll get this to work yet...

Gran't' |

I will grab Uskroth's armor, and look at buying something to ride.
If people want, I can potentially pool with someone to get someone a belt/headband.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looking at things for me to ride, it does not look like I will get away with anything medium sized.
A riding boar could carry 260 lbs as a medium load, and if I remove some of my other gear I can probably fit into that.
Gran't' likes being in contact with the ground. So a smaller animal would be better than a bigger one, but I am flat out of luck there.
So I have been looking at alternatives in the large category that would work, and I have found a potential option.
A Yak. At size Large and Str 27 they can carry plenty.
They can carry 1038 lbs as a LIGHT load.
I also think, with us being in a mountainous area, yaks might be common, and they are generally seen as not as flighty as horses, so Gran't' could probably be convinced to ride one.
So what's left on the loot sheet?
Did we sell the scrolls of Phantasmal Killer, Tongues and the Unidentified one with the DC 16 check?
What about all of the potions and alchemical stuff?
And did we ever calculate a value for the formula book?
Lanneth |
Yorikata, you did the selling/calculation. Can we remove from the loot sheet anything that was sold?
If those three scrolls are still availalbe I'd like to have them as I can eventually add those to my list of known spells.
If you tell me which ones I can take a look. As long as they are not above 311.19gp selling value, we can put them over to you without further ado. If they are worht more someone would have to give cash back, or we run into the negatives.
Lanneth |
That's right we did say that. Lets see, I'll pick the first witch spell on the 1st level list that is also on the Alchemist list... So Adhesive Spittle. (Basically spit a tanglefoot bag with a range of 15 feet - could be useful)
Phantasmal Killer and Tongues
They are over 300gp, but no big deal. They are both 4th level for a witch, so I don't think I could cast them for another 3 levels anyway.
Balder The Cursed |
Hi guys.
Shew I'm over 400 posts behind.
Sorry I havent been active on the boards. Life has been hectic. Between moving my family into two different places (My sister and her family into one and my mom into another), attending Con's, my dog getting seriously ill and having to have an operation, and breaking up with my gf and in the process of moving out on top of a hectic work schedule and being behind in deadlines I have barely been able to post on one game, let along any others. And it's days and sometimes weeks go bye before I remember that these games are still happening.
Sorry you guys.
But how is the game coming along?
Lanneth |
Understand completely Balder we've all been there.
Take care of yourself, and when you are ready we will be here to entertain you.
Balder The Cursed |
Hey guys.
So an update to the last three games that still have me.
I'm like 568 posts behind in this thread, can anyone give me the cliff notes on where we're at?
So things in RL right now. My doggie is healthy and like a brand new dog after he had his gall bladder removed, and as of yesterday I am finally moved out of my girlfriends place, it was a very long and emotional few weeks and I only just got my actual work station up today after a week of not being able to work and falling behind on deadlines, I'm still stressed but I think I can get back into at least a post a day.
So what do i need to know and what level should I be?
Yorikata __ |
We saved Trunau, solved the murder case (end Boss half orc was the culprit), and got sent off by the city council to meet the Tribe that is responsible for the attack on Trunau to end that threat once and for all.
But before we're going into a marsh to find some ancient weapon cache to be better equipped.
Our trip there is on a boat that is falling apart and gets attacked every day by some critters.
Lanneth |
That AoO needs to have misfortune applied to it. Unless it is immune to all mind effecting?
I may not be able to Slumber it, but I think I did get Misfortune on it, which is pretty darn nasty.
