Adriel Mistleaf |
The long red braided beard of the dwarf jiggles with his laughter, "O'course, I can make yer little friend the leather lamellar. Won't take long eith'r...lets measure 'em up. Be ready t'morrow." He spits some black chew into a spittoon. "Y'want a pinch" ...He drops his tobacco chew pouch on the counter and stuff's his cheek full. "How 'bout you little on." He ask Thrasher.
Adriel waited until Astrianna was done before escorting her to the smithy.
He had explained to Thrasher his intent on the way over and the aggressive little avian rather liked the idea of 'DDragon Skin' so when he placed him on the table fpr the dwarf to measure, the Raptor allowed himself to be pet and measured since he WAS almost as smart as a regular person and saw the dwarf as a maker of teeth and claws. His kind of people. No tobacco for either of us but if you wish to feed Thrasher, he likes jerky. The fact he hasn't bitten is a sign he likes you.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna chuckles at the man, listening to him intently. She is grateful for the poorly played violin blocking out noise, and makes a mental that that it creates an excellent privacy generator.
She takes out her journal, dabbing her pen in ink and starts writing a few notes down about the various ships for sale on the Tide. Briefly chewing on the end of the pen, the bard stares off into space for a few moments.
Maybe the drug trade isn't the right path to riches here. The status quo is strong... I need to seek out another opinion or two, someone from the underground.
She allows the ink to dry, journal held open in front of her. "Excellent! Thank you so much, my companions and I are trying to figure out what to do with ourselves in the city, and I don't want to step on the toes of a slumbering giant."
Astrianna ponders a moment longer, and decides now is the time to ask. "You know, Sagacious Sam is the one who told me about this shop, and he asked me to deliver a message to you. "debts should not go unpaid" was the phrase." She raises her eyebrows slightly, but her face was still neutral. "I dislike the man and his squeaky condescending voice, but I stay on the good side of even the most annoying wizards. Perhaps you could use some assistance in repayment- my companions and myself are quite capable. Or is this a simple matter of loaned coin...?"
Sath Saltblood |
'Hello, I'd like a druidic wand of minor wound healing if you have one in stock. Also, I'd like 2 potions of Barkskin and 2 potions of Bull's Strength as well."
Sath Saltblood |
"Oh, excuse me but I was wondering if you also sell maps of the local region- I thought I saw you working on one the other day when I was in..."

You can mark of the standard price for the wand. Same for the potions. You find this is a bit odd given the mark-up yesterday. sense Motive for a hunch.
"I'm not a cartographer, I'm quite sure you are mistaken. Perhaps it was another shop you visited in town.
He's a hard on to get a good read on.
Lefty, NPC |
Astrianna ponders a moment longer, and decides now is the time to ask. "You know, Sagacious Sam is the one who told me about this shop, and he asked me to deliver a message to you. "debts should not go unpaid" was the phrase." She raises her eyebrows slightly, but her face was still neutral. "I dislike the man and his squeaky condescending voice, but I stay on the good side of even the most annoying wizards. Perhaps you could use some assistance in repayment- my companions and myself are quite capable. Or is this a simple matter of loaned coin...?"
Lefty blanches at the comment. "Well...he may be pompous and an arse but he is The best and when you get down to it probably one of the most powerful people in the city. He enchants the more powerful items for me...this out of my expertise. He charges a premium but he is the best and his items are never cursed. I'm in the hole a few thousand gold...thing is he could destroy this place with a wiggle of his fingers." He pauses, he is being a bit upfront with you. "do not go into the item enchanting business that could be costly."
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna listens to Lefty intensely, nodding as he speaks. "I will definitely stay on his good side. He seems to enjoy flattery, I could probably make him see me as a... supporter, at least." She raises her palms at the mention of going into the item enchanting business. "I've never even been taught to enchant items, and I don't think I'll make it a career in Shaw if I have to compete with Sam. From what I understand it would be like challenging Shelyn to a singing contest. I'll try to spend a lot of coin here, help pay off that debt." She says with a smile.
I'll have to find an excuse to visit Sam some time, and butter him up. I want him on my side, or more likely I want to be on his side, no matter what. Sath also mentioned he was making treasure maps, I wonder what that is all about?
The bard makes a mental note of any other questions she would like to ask. She decides to save her questions about the Wave Riders for others.
"I could use a few scrolls, and then I'm off to Jasper Jak's- While we're picking through the parchments, might I ask if you know a Thalios Dondrel, Son of Mordeki, or where to find him? He recently returned to Shaw on our ship Mother's Blessing, and I lost track of him after that."
Adriel Mistleaf |
The dwarf says, "Jerky aye? Let's see what I can git fer you." He comes back with a 6 inch strip of tender venison. "guud and smoky." A little tobacco juice dribbles out on to his lips and beard. "Now lets measure you up." He goes about his business taking measurement for the armor.
Thrasher hisses a question at his master when the dwarf walks away, at the realization the smith was bringing him food his own opinion of the dwarf inflated.
The raptor quickly devored the strip, since such small creatures generally had to eat and run before a larger predator came.Jasper apparently understood this since he waited patiently for Thrasher to finish.
Adriel was rather amused at the spectacle since Thrasher was always bordering on attacking things, yet here he was as calm as he could be, just as when he was on Adriels shoulder.
I'll pick up the armor tomorrow then? How much?
Embrianna |
Bri would like have wondered over to the magic shop since it was the only one that anyone was going to that would have anything of interest for her.
She would also be inquiring about a scroll of cure poison and wants to look around to see if there is anything else that catches her eye.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna organizes the scrolls in the new scrollcase, sliding it into her Haversack. She grins as they talk about Thalios. "Oh yes, he's here, but who knows for how long. That one cannot be held down. If you see him, tell him Astrianna is looking for him. Don't be alarmed if he gets excited." She says with a laugh.
The bard looks around the shop, and notices that her companions have deserted her one by one. The half-elf sighs. "Unfortunately I am the only one in my group that has an interest in music, and they have rapidly abandoned me to stare at swords or whatnot." She slings her new violin over her shoulder and waves. "Our paths will cross again soon, Lefty, don't stop the good work."
First Jasper Jak's....Hmm what am I going to name this violin? Something whimsical perhaps, it has such a special, light tone...
Astrianna walks into Jasper Jak's while Adriel's little dino friend is getting measured. She raises an eyebrow. "Armor for Thrasher? I find that adorable, actually. Now he'll be a little professional!" She grins at the magus.
When she can get the dwarf shopkeeper's attention, she specifies her desired purchase. "Good morning. I would like a darkwood buckler, 8" diameter, if you have one. I also have some questions for you, when you get the time." The bard has been put in an excellent mood from the purchase of a new fiddle, and is quite amiable.
Darkwood buckler is 203gp
Adriel Mistleaf |
Adorable? He would be very angry if he understood what you said Songbird, careful because I am going to teach him common and elven soon. I doubt our enemies will share the sentiment when he swoops at thier eyes while I stab them
Thrasher glares at Astrianna and bares his toothed beak.
It's a good thing my whole style is based on cheating, otherwise I'd feel guilty about him flying at a foe's eyes when we fight, when I attain enough magical skill, I might be able to polymorph him into an actual dragon.....I did not say before, but I enjoyed your performance. Last night AND this morning.
He grins.
Astrianna Sparacello |
The bard playfully bears her teeth back at Thrasher before smiling at him. "Grrr. Come now, have you already forgotten who fed you while your master was out doing Cayden-knows-what around Shaw yesterday? I find it hurtful that you would take offense to me believing you would look adorable suited up for battle, all the while shatting in the faces of our enemies while Adriel guts them. I also think pictures of baby dragons are adorable, but in that special, can-still-eviscerate-a-full-grown-man sort of way." She was talking to Thrasher the entire time, fully aware he can't understand.
She turns to the magus. "You can tell him what I said. If you polymorph him into an actual dragon, I believe anyone trying to do us harm will not have to wait for Thrasher to shat on them, but instead will unwillingly shat themselves."
Astrianna chuckles, patting the violin case. "This violin and I are going to have a good time together, I can feel it... It has a beautiful sound... I just need to practice more." She elbows him lightly, grinning. "You left a damn bruise on my shoulder and I've avoided sitting down as much as possible today. Ah, thanks for cleaning up by the way. I'm honestly surprised no one complained about all the noise we were making, given how uptight that place was."

You've been in Port for the last week, or so, you've spent most of your time at the Broken Skull watching the fights and you've been staying at the Green Dragon Inn which is moderately priced in Silk District. Also give yourself a set of nobility dress cloaks, you would have bought these since there are dress codes in certain areas. You came in on a merchant cog out of Shackles.
Sorrin you are walking around the silk district - where many of the artisan's shops are located - you've walking near Fiddlesticks - music shop when you hear a delightful and quite stirring bit of fiddling that catches your attention. One thing you've seen a lot of this past week is fiddling, lots of street performers and taverns feature this form of entertainment.
You even caught one incredible performance by Commander Gregory Boneduece, who you know leads the local Dragoons and has the most feared ship in the harbor. You've heard rumors that Commander Boneduece wants to seel a recently captured ship Baron of the Tide for $9550 gold or so you've heard.
Embrianna |
Oh I am a ditz. I bought a neutralize poison scroll from that chick the captain sent us to last port when we were getting cure disease stuff. Let me retro that to a different scroll that I will decide on in a minute. I will go ahead and do a sense motive roll though

Adriel relays a few chirrups and clicks to his familar and is answerd.
Thrasher doesn't really understand cute or adorable. The closest translation I can give is he would rather not eat you because you smell like nectar sometimes and he likes nectare, so don't die. Adorable doesn't have much meaning when your whole life was thinking in terms of food and not food. As for myself, I meant your singing last night was amazing. He leans in close for a moment, I'll happily massage any sore spots, whenever you wish
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna cups her chin in her hand, one thin eyebrow slowly gaining altitude as Adriel describes what it's like to be a little flying dinosaur. "I suppose I hadn't considered what life as a flying reptile is like, especially prior to being bonded to a magus and suddenly finding oneself capable of extraordinary feats, and suddenly, sentience. Wouldn't it be difficult to teach him Taldan and Elven if he cannot understand an abstract concept such as "cute?"
She gives him a dry look as he describes his comment about her performance. "Liar, I know exactly what you were referring to." The half-elf grins as he leans in close, whispering to him. "Embrianna has dibs on you next, I'm not going to cut in line..."
When the dwarf outfitter has addressed whether or not he has a darkwood buckler she can purchase, she inquires on a few matters.
"I'm Astrianna, new to Shaw. You are...? I've had my heart set on the creation of a custom-made mithril breastplate ever since I read the dwarven legend of Rogar Bluehammer's Journey to the Underdark as a child- surely you've heard of it? In any case, I don't have quite the coin for a mithril breastplate right now, but with some help from the fates I may soon. I was curious how long it would take to craft, or if you even carry that much mithril."
She continues with her questions. "Additionally, I'm looking for two fellows.. one goes by the name Dirk, David, or Hawkins. Human, about this tall, black hair, carries a rapier. The other is Thalois Dondrel, Son of Mordekai, who returned to Shaw yesterday- he has a reputation around here apparently. Have you seen either of these men?"

Sorrin listens to the fancy people talk. His uncle would lecture that breath was so... precious. Why waste it?
Fancy people looking for and waiting on fancy friends. Even when his people danced, it was dead serious. Silk and steel, a pattern of... death. May the Dawnflower watch over him.
A few moments for redemption, whether theirs or his he was unsure.
Embrianna |
What would the price be for the sir bubble scroll since it is a lower level that the poison one?
Also, could I have gone ahead and done the little ritual thing to put the spell in my familiar or shall I do that tonight?
Astrianna Sparacello |
Ooooh right. I want to know what's up with Sam... Next level Astrianna will have at least a +14 to sense motive- no lies shall go undetected!
Jaspar Jak's |
buckler: 1d100 ⇒ 55
"Aye, I've a darkwood buckler available." He walks back into a storeroom and brings out the buckler. He is wiping it with an oiled cloth. "I've had this one fer awhile, trade-in from sailor." He scratches his head.
"Now for custom-made mithril breastplate, 5 maybe 8 days depending on my motivation and workload." He stuffs some more chew in his mouth. You swear he swallowed whatever was in his mouth.
"Don't know no Dirk or David...is he missin'"?
He smiles when you mention Thalois Dondrel, Son of Mordekai, "Aye...tipped back a couple tankards wit i'm this morning' brought me in this chew I'm enjoy'n, damn guud quality too. You friends?"

Sorrin a is pretty human packs up her new fiddle and a few scrolls and cheerfully leaves the shop called Fiddlestikcs. She brushes by you, there a scent of jasmine and lavender in her hair quite enticing. She waves at an elf who is standing outside of Jaspar Jak's Weapons and Armor You would have been to Jaspar Jak's over the last week. The elf looks like an agile warrior. He opens the door for female. The pair is interesting to say the least.
Where are you heading.
Sorrin the Wayward |
Sorrin remembers a odd pale skinned brunette... who seemed to be real enough. She was interesting, not too much pomp and circumstance.
He couldn't remember if her eyes were green or blue, and felt the need to settle the matter.
Astrianna Sparacello |
The bard is quite excited when the dwarf brings out the buckler, taking it from him after it has been wiped down. "Ah, perfect! So this buckler has some history, eh...? Well it's about to gain quite a bit more, and it may not be in one piece when I'm done with it."
She is almost taken aback as the dwarf swallows an entire mouthful of chew, but quickly catches herself and simply smiles. "That's much quicker than I expected. If I put a down payment of say, 1,000 gold pieces, would you begin working on it...? Can't say when I'll have the rest, though."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Attempting to get Jasper to begin working on the mithril breastplate with a down-payment instead of up-front payment.
The half-elf nods her head at the mention of Hawkins. "He is. Haven't seen him since the prior night, didn't even sleep in his bed at the inn. We have no idea where he went, probably chasing some woman."
She laughs and spreads her arms and hands wide at the mention of Thalios Dondrel and her being friends. "Oh, yes, we're well acquainted. Did he not mention he was heroically rescued from certain doom by a gorgeous half-elf, complete with a beautiful voice, and her friends? I even wrote a song about him, and he doesn't even mention me to his buddies?" She sighs, acting dejected. "You know where I can find him? I lost track of the dashing rogue after we made landfall."
Jaspar Jak's |
'He mentioned two women were smiten over 'im and how he ran in bare nakedness to battle a cursed totem. Said he used a broken box to defend 'imself. Till a songbird gently placed a rapier in is hand." He packs more chew in his mouth. "Destroyed th't cursed ship and damn thing sunk in whirlpool...he said." Spittle sprays.
"He did sing his own tune...you behind th't fine story?" He chuckles. "He likes the Run Aground Tavern in Tides."
"Damn..so that one was true, eh?" He chuckles some more.
"So if y'give me the gold, I'll procure the material and start to think about the finished item." He pulls out his tape measure and begins to jot numbers down. His gruff hand wraps the tape over your breasts and back., 'Gotta protect these jewels."
Sorrin the Wayward |
On his way to find the pale beauty... Sorrin keeps an eye out for reknown Commander. It would be interesting to see this ship and see what sort of deal the man would allow.
Perhaps there was even some job he needed done.
Astrianna Sparacello |
The bard begins to laugh as she hears how Thalios Dondrel told the tale of their escape from the Sea Bear. "I suppose he didn't mention that he smelled like a pair of sweaty troll danglers when we found him... I wouldn't call myself and Embrianna "smitten", either."
She gives a grin about the song. "I wrote that little song- it's not true, but the cursed totem and ship and him running around nude is, saw it with my own eyes. Events in the song are a slight embellishment. I'll have to track him down at the tavern..."
She extends arms for the measurements, raising an eyebrow. "For a thousand gold I hope you do a little more than think about it." She laughs musically. "Yes, it is a breastplate, I aim to protect the jewels and everything else behind it."
Putting her arms down, she takes out her notebook and begins to jot a few things down. "Now, I'm willing for you to take artistic liberty with this piece, if you care for such things- I am quite a fan of dwarven rune work, as you can see on my blade." She casually draws Echo part-way from its scabbard, exposing the first foot of blade and the intricate decorative runes that spell out its name and the history of the Maheto dwarves. She pushes it back into its sheath. "However, if you're not feeling particularly inspired I would like the image of a songbird acid-etched onto the front at least."
She still hasn't handed over the gold, wanting to make sure he is at least going to respect the beauty and style of mithril.
baldwin the merciful |
You've seen the recently captured ship Baron of Tide in Port. It's a sleek darkwood freighter that lacks armament and lacks the endurance to endure long battle. You've heard it's fast and it's last owner the infamous smuggler Baron Desmond Shade was summarily executed by Commander Boneduece.
You haven't seen the Commander around the Port today.
Embrianna |
"Of course, I have air bubble scrolls. I create those myself." His eyes wander over your body and he smiles. "Well, how powerful are you looking for?"
Bri gently pets her little viper around her neck. "Oh, I don't know that I can handle any that are too powerful. Perhaps you could just show me what you have and then I can decide whether or not I can handle it?"
