After Darius leaves, Bri gets up and gathers her stuff together and heads to her and Astri's room to freshen up for breakfast and to gossip.
When she enters the room and sees Adriel gone already and Astri still sleeping, Bri bumps the bed gently and asks: "Did Elf boy wear you out that much last night?"

Astrianna Sparacello |

Great read on poisons there.
Astrianna groans a bit as Embrianna bumps the bed, the half-elf pulling the sheets over her head and curling into a tight ball. "Mmuh what...? Is it time to get up already...? We spend weeks on a ship pulling shifts and you're all up at the crack of dawn..." She sighs and pulls the covers down, looking half-awake at best.
The bard begins to sit up, a serious case of bedhead evident in her usually straight hair. She stretches her arms up and yawns loudly. "Hmmmuuahhh! Got a bit of a headache... drank too much last night. Oh... elf boy was fun, especially after I got him into an arm bar and made him submit." She glances around. "Oh he cleaned up in here. This place was a mess... Especially after that second Grease spell, I missed and hit the wall, all pooled into the floor, bed was sliding around and then I tripped, knocked over the nightstand..." She shrugs nonchalantly, and then starts to laugh.
"He wasn't expecting the Hold Person either, hahaha... the look on his face when I pretended I was going to... ah, you know what you should ask him later, I want to know what he says. Though he did get me back, my ass is still tingling from that damn Shocking Grasp and I think I have a bruise or two on my shoulders, he's got a damn giant's grip. Good night overall."
She swings her legs out of bed, digging around in her haversack for her grooming kit. The half-elf unlatches the case and takes out a brush, starting to untangle the mess of her hair while looking in a small hand mirror. "How about you?"

Embrianna |

"Uhm, wow. Your night was a bit more, uh, adventurous than mine? Not that I minded though, I typically prefer something more, er, gentle than what you two indulged in. If I wanted sparring I would have gone to all of Darius's lessons."

Astrianna Sparacello |

The bard grimaces as she brushes out a particularly stubborn knot of hair. "To each their own. Darius seems like a real sweetheart. Kind of makes me want to break him..." She says with a slightly sadistic grin. "In a good way, of course. He'd enjoy it."
Her hair returned to a manageable state, she takes out some eyeliner. Biting her lip, she shows them to Embri. "What kind of eyeliner should I wear today? Tired of wearing black on the ship. I'm feeling grey... Or should I liven things up a bit with purple?"

Embrianna |

"I think the purple would compliment your eyes more. And yes, Darius does seem like a sweetheart. I wouldn't mind another night with him, but now that we are on land with a wide selection of males available, I fully intend to sample around. What do you think of me looking up that fighter from last night? He did give me his address you know."
Bri begins brushing out her own hair, trying to decide what to do with it for the day. "Though regardless of which you choose, can I borrow some of the grey? I really should stop by a salon or at least a cosmetic store today. During shore leave is the only time I get to indulge myself with female stuff. On ship I stick to wearing my cut-offs and don't bother with make-up since the sea spray tends to wash it right back off."

Astrianna Sparacello |

Astrianna smiles, and starts to apply the eyeliner while Embri is speaking. "Oh Belok? Yes you should look him up, he couldn't keep his eyes off of you last night. That and watching him beat the tar out of Thi' Ring last night... mmm, my knees got a little wobbly. But yes. We should both pay him a visit, I want to learn about the Wave Riders, and he can tell me first hand why everyone keeps talking about them. I could ask Zalen too I suppose. We should also check out Quell's Whore, Jonah said to look them if we were down in the Tide District. I bet they have some exciting work."
The bard hands her the small vial containing her grey eyeshadow. "Indeed, I've just been wearing some black eyeliner to keep the sun out of my eyes while on deck, no real fashion choice about it. I'd wager a lot of money there's a nice powder store in the Jade district. We should do more shopping today."

It had been several days since Darius had been able to practice with his glaive properly. He felt rusty, and his armor felt restrictive, but with the situation he was in, he dared not be outside alone without it. After but a moment, however, and he was perfectly readjusted and falling perfectly back into his practiced routine.
Waiting on Adriel to do some banter with him regarding the previous night, then I'll post Darius' plans for the day.

Astrianna Sparacello |

Hehe questionable morals away! It's funny you mention him, I have been hooked on Space Oddity lately.
The bard nods, pausing for a moment to yawn again. "Absolutely. The man can sing, once we're established here I might ask him to do a few shows with me. I saw that half-elf attached to his hip too. She didn't say anything and I couldn't get a good read on her. I don't like interfering with relationships. One moment you've got some wealthy Baron tied to a four-post bed with the finest spidersilk rope, the next his shrew of a wife comes barging in waving one of those awful decorative swords around like she knows how to use it; HA, screaming for the guards, and you have to wrap yourself in a blanket and jump out of a second story.....wait." She stops, thinking for a moment, staring off into space.
"Did I have to jump through the window the second or third time she chased me out?"

While he doesn't stop his routine, he does keep a watchful eye on those taking notice.
__________
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

** spoiler omitted **
If he has a +4 for strength for damage; that makes sense; but it doesn't apply to his "to hit" modifier with a range weapon. His range attack wouldn't have been that high, just his damage.
Also, did he hit me, or entangle me? If I was entangled, that would effect my AC and if the second guy was able to hit me, but I wouldn't be damaged.
Also, I wouldn't have been entangled the first time along (though that's old news now).
Finally, after I hit the guy with my rapier (assuming I was on the ground) I would have stood up and taken the AoO from the dog - If I was entangled, that is.
Just let me know what's up; meanwhile - Game On!
See, that's the tricky part.
I played a game with some guys with Paizo on tabletop a few years ago. I said pretty much what you were - they told me that I should think of it like a Flu Shot. In other words, if I can resist a little bit of it, then the next dose I'm even "more" resistant, because I've built up an immunity.
So I said - "Well, why doesn't my guy hang out in town with every single dose of poison and a buddy who's a cleric and then poison himself; get healed, and then he's immune to every type of poison?"
They said that it only applied to once a day - in other words; if I got hit again that day, I've toughed it out. The next day I get hit, it's a whole new thing.
I said - "But why do that?"
They said because if you had a bunch of low-level mooks with a really easy poison to beat that a high level character should be able to shrug off anyway, it "Cheapens the Game" if he is able to kill 20 guys with relative ease, but because there is a 1 in 20 chance of failing with a natural 1; he's automatically poisoned.
I responded with the Khal Drogo argument - even a bad-ass can die to a stupid infection.
They responded that Khal Drogo's death was one of the crappiest death's in Fantasy Fiction thus far; and if anything, he should have died like a bad-ass - wading through a hoard of Lannister Assassins before they finally dropped him - but even so, in his death he still managed to save his Khaleesi and love of his life - well; they said that he should have died like that, because it's a cool death, and they mentioned Boromir from Lord of the Rings; saying if the guy had to die at all, at least it was a death that meant something.
They further said - "In a fantasy game sometimes crappy and un-heroic things happen that are really sucky and lame; but no one drives from Baltimore all the way to Richmond to hang out with friends for a weekend long gaming session just so they can watch a really crappy, sucky thing happen; at least, not if they can help it."
That argument convinced me - but then again; this is a different game, hence my question.
As for the multiple dose thing - I thought that was if you layered the weapon. So if I bought a poison and put it on my arrow which I was aiming for a dragon; I might say - "This isn't enough poison to stop a dragon" - so I add another dose. It costs me twice as much, but it ups the DC by +2. I can (theoretically) layer the arrow with so much poison that it'd stop a Tarasque - if I want to spend that money on poison; but for every dose I put it on the weapon, it only ups the DC by +2; so it may not be worth the cost - because my arrow might miss.
The layering part is critical, because I assumed that we could do that later. If a bunch of guys hit me one after the other, I think that it wouldn't be the same, though. Please let me know - that will definitely effect what I do for poisons later...
Okay - just let me know; I'm catching up on the postings now...

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Hmm... for some reason that description via Valeros seemed even more confusing... Oh well; I'm still not sure if he even hit me a second time with poison, because I'm not clear if the Boss tried to Trip Me or Hit Me.
If he tried a CMB that's different, but I took no damage; and I would have stood up and taken the AoO from the dog. Also, given that I tripped the first time, I wouldn't have taken damage from his bolas the first time, either, I think.
Just keep me posted on what's up. Thanks!

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

So Dirk, I need the fort save for the poison coming in contact with you in RD 5.
I think that depends on if he hit me; I think that depends on if the guy tripped me, or hit me - which would effect my AC and HP.
FYI - I think that if he got killed, I assume that I would have made the Save, since I wouldn't have hit him and you normally don't do ret-con - but I'll see what the save does.
Assuming he Tripped me then here's the Fortitude Save - after I attacked him, I'd stand up and take the AoO from the dog; but my HP is different I have to Calculate that now -
Fortitude Save
1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 = 15
EDIT: He made the save as it's not raised if the initial save was successful, which it was. That said, is dog is after me?

Embrianna |

"Eh, maybe she was just hired for the night or something. She didn't have the look of someone who actually worked on a ship."
"And just how many times have you had to make that sort of escapes?"

baldwin the merciful |

The +4 strength was never applied to his range attack. His range attack is +8 which is what I put in his dice roll, then he gets +4 Human favorite enemy, then the -4 firing into melee penalty.
His damage is d4+4(str)+4(human)
Would of, could of, and should of's is why I don't like to recon.
I've spent enough time with the explanations. This constant questioning on every significant issue gets tiresome. There are five other people who want to move forward. I've held the game up long enough. You are prone make you poison save from the guy stabbing you. That is the end of RD 5.
If you fail the poison save make a second one which takes place at the start of your RD 6 turn.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

RD 6: AOO Alpha
[dice=bite]1d20+6;[dice=damage]1d6+6
He missed.
Please let me know when it's my action.
You said that the rapier killed the other guy. So I'm not sure when this dog goes; before or after me.

baldwin the merciful |

RD 6:
The leader draws is two short swords and jabs at dirk with one weapon, while Alpha tumble for flank. Basically the two switched positions.
att, flank: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19;damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
plus DC 14 fort save
1 con, hrs: 1d3 ⇒ 1
EDIT: there should a +2 for flanking so the att is 21.
alpha tumble through enemy hex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
uneven ground, DC 15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
bite, flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 = 26;dam: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Edit 2: His single short sword att should be +19 (7 BAB, 4 Str, 1 WF, 1 MSW, 4 Human, 2 flank)

RD 6:
The leader draws is two short swords and jabs at dirk with one weapon
Alpha tumble for flank.
Well, with the flanking it hit me; so here is the Fortitude Save
1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 = 18If he saves, he'll be using Acrobatics to move to move past the enemy and head to E:6 as his Move Action and use Total Defense as his Standard Action.
Acrobatics Check to move past his enemy -
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
HP: 30/56

baldwin the merciful |

RD: 7
The leader with step forward and attack with
short sword 1, human: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26;damage, str, human: 1d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 4 = 12
short sword 2, human: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19;damage, str, human: 1d6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 4 = 7
alpha moves up 5 feet barking.
Edit: He did not get the second attack since he moved 10 feet, I though he only moved 5 feet.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

"Betcha wishin' y'were jsut robbed now."
David looks at the man, his head cocked.
As a Free Action -
"I'm going to die - that's clear," he says with a flat voice.
"But I'll turn my own my own blades on myself before I give you the gods damned satisfaction of either killing or robbing me," he says with complete sincerity.
Paul will move E:9 or D:9 as his Move Action. Not sure where I am able to move on the map in relation to the walls.
Acrobatics Check to beat the DC of 10 for the Grease spell -
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
I'm assuming he succeeds given his base Acrobatics.
Once he gets there he'll cast Vanish as his Standard Action.
HP: 18/56

Astrianna shrugs. "It's possible, but better to be sure first. I feel Jonah will be an excellent contact, when he's in Shaw."
The bard thinks for a while. "At least half a dozen times, I said no more after I had to hide in a henhouse once. Now I make sure they're single or at least not married. Or their wife is totally clueless, or their wives don't actually have any power. But you have to watch out for those are well, they can employ unfortunately effective and underhanded tactics. Being a mistress is hard work, is what I'm getting at."

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

When you gt to E, F, G 12 the alley breaks off into a "T". You can turn left or right. there is long building lat sits in Hex 15.
"Sniff'em out boy." Alpha yaps excitedly.
Before I act, can I know which alley is longer? Also, how tall are the walls?
Any chance to see a broader overhead?

baldwin the merciful |

From your current POV you don't know which, if any alley way is longer. The building that you see appear to be two and three stories. You don't have clear LOS. You can see more to your right from your POV.
we need to get this done soon, its an unfair time disbursement to the other 5 players at this point.

David will run the 15 feet to G:10 as his Move Action and use Acrobatics to hop on top of the well's cover and get as close to the wall as possible.
His plan is to try to climb up while hoping that the others thinks he went down the well...
Acrobatics Check with Arch Luck to leap up on top of the well's cover at I:10-
1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 1 = 33
If he needs a Balance Check on the top of the well for some reason, he'll make that check now -
Acrobatics Check -
1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 12 + 1 = 29
Finally, if he's able - he'll attempt to Climb at least 5 feet up the wall -
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26
EDIT: Well, I'm hoping that the well isn't more than 8 feet high; and that the beam isn't less than 2 Inches wide. If I'm able to Climb, then I'd be up rough wall of a town - hoping that's good enough to get out of their notice this round...

Astrianna finishes with her hair and makeup, getting into her courier outfit. She looks in the miror with her new hat, trying it on in different poses. "I love this hat. One day I want one of those crazy expensive ones that Darius got."
She belts on her sword, puts her bow in its case on her back and slings a quiver over her shoulder. "Stylish, yet clearly a threat. Good enough, you think? Let's get some breakfast, I'm starving and could really use a cup of coffee."

Adriel decides to forgo his trip to the roof. He took joy in feeling alive and while the morning sun was something he treasured, he liked sparring AND boasting even more.
He does keep his voice low though, free conversation with a trusted friend should be kept quiet, lest you burn your bridges with your current conquest.
Truly a joyful experience my friend, being with a women of fire is a joy, being with one of commanding desires who ALSO happens to have magic to liven the experience is even better. Songbird? No. A lioness resides in that one. I have the burns and scratches to prove it.
He claps a hand on Darius' s back and leads him downstairs.
You look like a man coiled my friemd.Need to get some motion in those legs, yes? Come, I will study my spellbook while you practice and if you wish we can spare a little. You don't truly know someone until you fight them and I think minus my magic I might call you equal in a fair fight. Let's see if you can teach me a step or two.

Not wanting to be laughed out of a cosmetic shop, Bri will wear the new dress she got yesterday. The courtier level cost one.
"Oh, we should also look about for a custom tattoo parlor today as well. But you are right of course, let's go grab some breakfast first."

Astrianna Sparacello |

The bard nods in agreement. "Yes! Capital idea. I believe today will be full of shopping and gossiping. The two are often so very well intertwined..."
She gathers her belongings and moves to the dining hall with Embri, helping herself to a cup of coffee and a plateful of eggs. The two find a table and wait for the others to show up to discuss the day.
