I hate constructs, they get the best of both sets of rules...lol

Hence a pair of earlier item drops. Of course, there's an even simpler option.... ;-)

What is that thing in the lower right of the room? Water?

Silence checked it out already. It's an iron cauldron full of boiling water. There's no visible heat source.

How often have we turned down the chance to destroy our enemies?

Or their statuary?

Apliances can only be the next, logical step!

After all, the one chance we didn't destroy statues, they tried to kill us..

It's ambush time! You have no idea how long Logrivich will be gone and didn't set up any kind of early warning system, so I can't tell you how much prep time you have. Position yourselves on the map as desired and let me know what you're planning. When the dragon returns, I'll let you know how much you were able to accomplish.

This is a separate post due to its importance.

I figure now is a good time to tell you the options regarding PC death. If somebody dies, there are three options.

1) Roll up a new character who will join the party at the earliest possible opportunity. I'll figure out how much wealth s/he'll start with.

2) Get rezzed by one of the various spells. I've houseruled that there is no need for a costly material component, so you can enjoy the 5,000gp savings.

3) Be brought back automatically but gain the Restless Soul template. For those of you unfamiliar with this, you gain the Outsider type and a few minor penalties. You can also replace your Feats with "Restless Soul exclusive" Feats if desired. If you get brought back to life, they'll reset. If somebody dies and is interested in this option, I'll provide access to the PDF over Google Docs.

I was thinking we all hide and just ambush him as soon as he lands. Maybe have one of the barbarians grapple him so he doesn't fly away?

Also your second post just reminds me of an auto-save right before a boss fight. A ill omen of things to come...

I'd say likewise but playing restless spirits doesn't tend to work out for me.

@Hobbes: Well, it is a dragon fight, and I do plan on playing Logrivich to his fullest capacity. ;-)

@Percy/Neverhome: Restless Souls are cool, but they're not for everyone. I'd advise Hobbes/Silence against that option, for example, as one of the penalties involves animals shunning you.

I don't think you can grapple a dragon the way you're wanting it to happen. I was going to stay back and hit it with fire spells. :P

The best way to deal with character death is making it so no one dies in the first place. :P

@Hobbes: Grappling isn't an option, I'm afraid: dragons have too high a CMD to hit on equal level characters without being focused on Grappling. Even in the case of a lucky 20 or so, he could easily revert the grapple, fly up with whoever is grappling him and dropping him to the ground. D:

So far, we know that:
1) He's not good at spells, so probably debuffing him with wild magic and making him breathe flowers isn't going to work.
2) Speaking of which, we should scatter around a little so he doesn't hit everyone with a single breath attack
3) He's resistant to magic, but probably weak to fire.

I'd propose first to hide ourselves and wait for him: if there isn't as suitable spot, I can just create one with Silent Image and we can hide into that. Silence can challenge him to buff everyone, Mamushka could use Communal Resist Energy to block those ice attacks, Percy could for Flaming Sphere as the fight will last a long while, I think, Allie could shoot MOAR fire, I could go Evil Eye (saves) to make sure the previous spells do full damage, and that way I can set up the usual Misfortune next round and try to use Blindness on him after that.

EDIT @ Lyosha: Pretty sure we sold that.

I'm enjoying the strategic discussion. Just remember that thus far, nobody's talked strategy in-character. If you enact a perfectly-coordinated piece of tactical precision without burning at least some of your in-game prep time, I won't be happy.

Not too worried since I'm really hard to kill between peing able to spontaneously heal, convert lethal on non lethal and double my DR in an emergency. But Restless soul could tie in well with the unkillable concept if it gets to that.
