Bio/Appearance:
Persy Gracenys Silvershaper is a gorgeous Gnome by most standards. She stands a proud 3 feet exactly and boasts stiff, deep crimson hair with light red lips, a flush skin tone, and a perpetual smile which makes her look very much like a walking long-stem rose. Her only physical flaw is her black, cracked, shriveled hands. These are the work of the Primal magic she wields and are a constant reminder of her near death experience that bestowed those powers. Being such a beauty in a small village full of humans would normally result in a spoiled, girly princess. Thankfully, Percy has her twin sister to spread out the doting. Allie is exactly 43 seconds younger and 1/4 inch shorter. Her temperament is a bit more fiery, as is her sorcerous magic, but Percy loves Allie like none other except perhaps their parents. The two are inseparable and look identical save for the slight height difference. When Percy was a youth, she was walking with her father in the woods outside the small village they called home when they were beset by malicious Fae. Her father, an old soldier, defended his child valiantly, but to no avail. Percy was struck by the Fae's magic and her arms were consumed in black flame. In a fit of fatherly rage, her dad smote the Fae and carried her home. She was beyond the town healer's help, however, and spent the next two weeks on the edge of death. Her family was not well off, so there was nothing that could be done except wait. She did come around, but she would never be whole again. The Primal magics of the Fae had infested her and left her arms looking like blackened logs. They became very sensitive to touch, severely hampering her skill with any form of weapon and making her job as one of the town’s lovely tavern maids difficult. Neither Percy nor Allie were ones to give up, a trait they inherited from their father, so Percy forged on and did what she had to do to help support their family and put her portion of bread on the table. When she was a little gnome, there was a group of paladins and clerics near the city calling themselves the Order of the Watches. They claimed to be holding back the 'encroaching chaos of the woodlands.' Percy never took them seriously. She loved the woods and the animals therein. Still, the Watchers were good friends and even let 'Rosie' shadow them on patrols. This group was in constant conflict with the regional thieves and ruffians, and they eventually became more hassle than they were worth. They were killed to a man one moonless night and their tower burned like a beacon on the edge of town. Percy learned an important lesson that day. Good is not always Healthy. Eventually, Percy found a replacement for her knights. A wandering Fae who called himself Mr. Jinglepockets. She never found out who or what exactly he was other than Fae, but he was always bringing her odd trinkets and baubles from strange lands, especially the frozen north. She learned much from him, including her first spells. So Percy Gracnys Silvershaper grew. She quickly blossomed into the gorgeous little gnome she is today, and soon caught the eye of many a young lad in town. She subsequently courted almost every young man in town, but never found her match and left behind her a string of broken young hearts. She soon tired of all the praise and attention (though her sister was getting it in equal shares) and craved the darker side of life. She longed for Adventure. The local gang of young ruffians and thugs was more than willing to accommodate. She ran with them for several months and found that she instinctively disliked, hated actually, the local Wizard and his structured, pedantic spellcraft. She felt in her soul that magic was not meant to be put in a cage and written down. It was a force of nature, and should be free. It didn't take long for her to decide to go on a mission of liberation. In the dark of the night, she and several of her ruffian buddies broke into the wizard’s home. That is when she learned that it is no easy thing to sneak up on a wizard. The man tried to apprehend her, but she called on a bit of her sister's instincts for magic and summoned a fan of flame that instantly set half the structure on fire. The Mage thus distracted, she made a run for it and disappeared into the shadows. The next morning, the mayor, magistrate, and one livid, soot covered wizard appeared on her doorstep. She tried to make a break for it, but was caught by her father before she made it two steps. In the subsequent interview, she was ready admit to burning the building to the ground and even burst out in a laughing fit when the wizard admitted that his Spellbook was among the casualties. However, her precious sister took the fall and set the wizard’s hat on fire to prove it. When Allie returned from prison, it was with stories of abuse and horror that tore at Percy’s soul. She felt extreme guilt over the ordeals her sister went through on her account. Now that several years have passed, the guilt has subsided and been replaced with a steadfast devotion to her sister and hatred for all who would claim control over Magic. |
