With previews beginning to flow and the book around the corner, PF2's about to get a huge injection of primal goodies - and I want to know what you're doing with it all! Kineticists of six elements, Elemental Barbarians, Wood and Metal Geniekin, and who knows what else... but mechanics are less fun to me than the stories folks tell with them. Got a PF1 character you're finally bringing forward, or a 'bender' you've been sitting on impatiently?

Let's show them off!

I am super hyped for wood Geniekin, curious what all ideas I can come up with them. Especially Fetchling As a base Ancestry :3

And I’m open to being pleasantly surprised by Metal Geniekin as well ^w^

Ever since the kineticist playtest was released I have been thinking of a goblin fire kineticist with the oracle archetype to get incendiary aura at level 4.

After watching Nonat1s kineticist preview, this idea seems like it will be even better, since kineticists now use con to hit with elemental blast (so they are less MAD then the playtest), and when they create their elemental aura, they can also use a one action elemental blast for free.

Burn It! would also increase the persistent fire damage (but sadly not the fire impulse damage) dealt by my arsonist goblin.

I have quite a few ideas in mind.

One I already have planned is a kinetecist who focus on wind and water elements(specifically cold). The weakened form/avatar/simulacrum thing of a powerful winter spirit(reflavored frozen winds kitsune) who is the patron of my girlfriends winter witch. My character was trapped in some artifact and that artifact was damaged and a piece is now inside of said witch. Which is what has allowed a weakened form to exist on the material plane.... but trying to free her true form would put the witch in danger of death. So the two are bonded and must work together and care for one another. My character was also originally trapped by her characters Winter Hag Mother, so there is also fun in that.

I'm also probably gonna change my undine elemental sorcerer who I was flavoring as a sort of slime girl made of water into a water kinetecist. She is more of a silly, lets have some fun and party type of character.

Another idea I have is a Metal Kinetecist who was trained to be an assassin at a young age, very much inspired by Cassandra Cain(my favorite Batgirl) at least in back story but would still be her own character.

I could probably go on and on with ideas but I'll stop here for now. Definetly will be messing around with some of the other non kinetecist options as well at some point.

I hope they modify the burn it feat to work with fire impulses as well.

I'll have to really dig into the mechanics to be sure of a character but tentatively a dwarf earth kineticist taking Stalwart Defender and/or Sentinel for heavy armor. A tanky kineticist that punched people with big earth fists.

The main character I've been wanting to build since I was a kid will have to wait until my group finishes the last book of EC. In the meantime, I'm gming AV and I can't resist making a gmnpc. I might get tired of it or it'll be too much work but I neeeed to play with kineticist at least a little.

Everything has lined up to make this character, in an almost creepy way. I can't say too much because of spoilers as to why it fits so well. But I'll be making a mushroom leshy kineticist with wood and water powers (maybe air later, undecided). It will look more like a tree elemental since it will wear wooden armor and conjure wood everywhere (and wear a wooden mask) but under it all he will be mushroomy. It fits well with some of the themes of the book (swamp, underground) and it can conjure its own food (being able to summon wood as a mushroom leshy is basically a meatmancer to a human) and water!

Should the stars ever align, and Beings of Ib ever become playable in 2E, I'd love to make an Ibbite Stormcaster-style kineticist who is also a high priest of Bokrug.

Badbella, orphaned female Kellid earth kineticist and mammoth lord, and her megafauna rhino companion, Jammaker, will likely be my first.

I already planned a conrasu wood geniekin wood kineticist to go all in on the tree theme.

5 people marked this as a favorite.

It might need a dip into Water stuff to truly work, but with the news that Wood Kineticists can get both Poison and Vitality (formerly known as Positive) damage on their Elemental Blasts, I'm really wanting to reflavor one as a Vishkanya throwing their own blood around. You could get real yucky with their healing abilities.

Poison for the living, the purest expression of life force for the undead... they'd make for a fun Season of Ghosts character.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Speaking of Seasons of Ghosts characters, I have a family of kitsune that run a large inn together. With the AP set in the past, it'd be really fun to play a fire/metal Kineticist chef who establishes the inn after the campaign.

Verdant Wheel

Several PFS character this book will touch.

A Transmutation Wizard who will look into expanding into Metal as an arcane theme
A Stone Druid who will look keenly into the Multiclass Archetype of Kineticist
A brand new Full Kineticist deciding between Single and Dual Gate in Wood
A Cloistered Cleric looking to expand into Air and Fire themed spells

Off the top of my head.

I have a fire obsessed goblin druid with the witch archetype (elemental betrayal hex) for PFS that I'm hoping gets some neat new options, but I'm most excited to play a dwarven metal kineticist (detailed in the kineticist hype thread).

Grand Lodge

Etta Westwillow, Lirgeni human pepper farmer from the Sodden Lands who has begun to realize her peppers grow as well as they do not because of the Abendego-wracked soil, but because of her own connection to the plane of wood as a kineticist.

Helter F. Bingle, ardande catfolk kineticist with a single gate for air who will eventually try to branch out into metal, a disciple of Ranginori trying to find a means to bring freedom to all.

Nalator, ardande gladiator (ancestry TBD) from the Plane of Wood whose knack for fire arose the first time they went through a planar gate, allowing them to their foes with molten sap as a kineticist.

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I'm looking forward to the new spells in the book. I'm thinking of making a cleric of Raginori who is something of a wandering messenger and cook, bringing good cheer and delicious smells wherever they travel.
Everyone is happy when the Air Friar comes to town.

Well I am most definitely making a kineticist (or several), that's for sure, but I am most likely going to start with a regular human air kineticist, it's a nice excuse to start digging into the aerialist ancestry feats that i didn't try and grab yet.

After that I may try my hand again at a dual element suli monk by adding the kineticist dedication on top of it, I wasn't quite satisfied with what I had come up with until now.

I admit, I've always been crunch-first, but I'm looking forward to seeing how well a kineticist can play tank. Earth seems almost a gicen, and then possibly Wood and/or Metal. Ancestries... well, I wouldn't be surprised to wind up with a dwarf (possibly a dwarven Earth geniekin?) but, again, it's going to depend on what the core ancestries look like after they come out the other end of the remaster.

If kineticist has any way to be in more than one stance at a time, or otherwise stack aura effects, I will make at least one character that leans into that as hard as he can.

There's a nontrivial chance that I'll try to cram both of those ideas together and see what I can do about putting together a Kineticist with Marshall archetype who's all about being on the front lines, right next to his buddies, making them look good. That's the sort of thing that requires a decent bit of party optimization to do right, though.

At a guess from the previews, dual gate, aura junction (5), aura junction (9), expanded gate (13), aura junction (17) gets you three aura effects, plus your aura stance, plus maybe a second aura stance if the high-level playtest feat for combining auras is still around.

Liberty's Edge

A sailor who is Wind Kineticist and will evolve in elements (Water, Wood, Metal ?) based on the needs of the story.

Some way to hit with both cold and fire during the same round (ideally the same attack : visual I had for decades).

Brad, a middle-aged (like, ~400 years or so) elf naari single gate fire kineticist (as inefficient as that will probably be) who is as spicy as his element. In his youth broke off from his elf community because he was tired of being treated like a kid even though he was 30, the other elves simply calling it a phase, and set off to go adventuring. His adventuring stint was short since he ended up falling in love, marrying, and retiring. He went through a few marriages over the years, had some kids, became a sad pathetic excuse of a man, his kids grew up and moved out, he was by himself. He was sad, drunk, and lonely. Finally he decided he would get up and chase the dreams of his youth again and go adventuring, and maybe his kids will think he's cool again.

I have art of him too. (Art was commissioned by me from the artist Skyblitzhart)

I'm probably going to have characters who care about their elemental planes. Like... there's apparently factions and themes and whatnot all up in those places. If I wind up with a metal kineticist, then his relationship with the plane of metal is going to mean something to him.

At the same time... well, I'm looking forward to it, but I cant' actually get started on that part, because for me that stuff only comes in about two or three layers in, once I've already got my elements and my overall strategy and I've narrowed down my ancestry and I'm trying to tie it together into a coherent whole. Still... there's lots of grist in there that you can use to go from a relatively small set of crunch choices to a whirling mass of potential flavor implications. I'm lookign forward to it.

Out of all the concepts pressented here I think "Cool adventurer fire dad in a mid-life crisis" may be my favorite so far. Especially so since you named him Brad which is so fantastically on brand.

Can't seem to find information on Naari though, is that the new name for Ifrits? I would assume so given the fire theme.

Making my charhide goblin fire kineticist wrestler Marshmallow for a tournament arc the PCs are in the middle of is the first thing I'm doing, second will probs be rebuilding an old PC from a former party. I'm also interested in the cosmology stuff for GM reasons, although it's a homebrew setting so some stuff I'll most likely leave on the wayside (like the planes of wood and metal, they'll probs just be locals in fae/shadow instead of full on planes). I cannot wait to get the PDF next week(?) and spend several hours reading it like crazy!

Ever since the Automaton came out as an ancestry, I have been wanting to create a Callibretto-type character (from Battle Chasers) and I almost did create one as a Druid just when the Kineticist Playtest came out. After reading the Kineticist I decided that I liked the idea of that class better than a Druid. So, now that I can get access to the wood element for an Automaton Kineticist, that is what I am making; though, I will probably also get some metal element in the mix too, to better represent the built-in autocannon in his arm. Then, maybe multiclass archetype with Druid or Beastmaster for some of that oneness with nature.

I love elementalists and orcs in my fantasy and I love playing tanks. So, my second idea is to make a tanky earth kineticist; probably an orc.

I also want to make a metal kineticist that invents stuff with his abilities. Not quite sure on the best way to do that yet between the kineticist and the Inventor classes. I'll have to wait to read the class after it comes out.

I'll probably want to wait until the Remaster books come out before I get any ideas.

Frankly speaking I'm not as interested in the Kineticist class as I am in how the other classes (like Oracle, Champion, Druid etc.) will interact with the new spells and archetypes and such. And I want to know how those classes have changed first before adding stuff from Rage of Elements into the mix. <_<

It's... I don't know what it is that does it. I read this, I immediately thought of the beginnings of a backstory for a kineticist poppet, and now I find myself unwilling to finish said backstory, because I can already see how it's going to wind up being Very Very Sad, and I don't want to do that to myself.

A fleshwarp electrokineticist who is confused for the Beast of Lepidstadt by ignorant locals, but is in fact the latest creation of Count Alpon Caromarc to break free of their creator's control. Imbued with the same animating force that Caromarc used to bring his other creations to life, the newly minted Liberator of Lepidstadt now seeks to tame the primal storm that rages within their patchwork body and utilize its power to help free other beings such as themself who were built and abused by those who thought to play as gods.

Give them the Vigilante archetype for bonus points and being able to move around more freely in paranoid society.

Oooh, yeah. I hadn't even thought about the rich storytelling possibilities in the "How the heck did you wind up with this elemental gate thing inside of you anyway?" question.

Like, "Doting Mad Inventor/Wizard makes a toy for his favorite sibling-spawn and goes kind of overboard." is suddenly a really obvious explanation for a poppet kineticist... and the kid (who's been learning all *sorts* of stuff at the Mad Practitioner's knee) winds up as a Thaumaturge.

Always an eternal GM but love making characters I rarely play

Human Summoner with Demonic Eidolon/Fire Kineticist Dedication - attempt at warcraft destro warlock. This character got the ability to throw "hellfire" when she bound this demon.

Half Elf Druid/Wood Kineticist - I keep making this same druid in every system I play since my first character was a premade copied from the back of an old DnD 1e module I can't remember or find. He achieves great power through his life and then hibernates to later be reincarnated to serve the forces of nature, remembering very little of his previous existences. Curious to see what cool stuff the wood kineticist dedication might add.

Human (undine) Winter Witch/Water Kineticst - really hoping a cold option for water kineticist can grant some interesting cold attack options. This witch is the daughter of a frost giant who was polymorphed into human form to live among them. Having no magical abilities like her siblings, she made a pact with the forces of primal winter to grant her cold abilities which she feels are her birthright.

I'm not sure yet, but I'll probably be adding to the ranks of my innumerable potential summoner characters with an elemental summoner of some kind.

Water Kineticist has a decent bit of cold damage available, yes. I don't think it's possible to make an effective dedicated-gate Water type who only uses cold damage... but I think you could fake it pretty well if you were willing to reflavour things a little bit and accept the idea of doing things like bludgeoning people to death with ice. You wouldn't even have to stretch it all that much.

I like the concept of a mad scientist kineticist who gained fire/acid blasting powers by performing alchemical experiments on themselves. Hopefully a kineticist starting with 14INT for alchemist dedication at lv2 will be viable.

Kind of like the idea of a Wood Kinetecist who is/was working as a cook on a ship of some kind. Feel like they would be a rare delight, being able to keeo fresh produce and such on long trips. Even more valuable if they branch out into other elements like water and air.

Drukra volunteered to Oprak's experimental geokinetic soldier program, implanted with a tiny splinter supposedly taken from the Onyx Key itself, acting as her kinetic gate to the Plane of Earth.

A walking font of inexhaustible elemental energy with great combat potential, the program's inherently magical (if not arcane) nature meant that she never quite got the support (or the respect) of her fellows clad in plain worked steel, so she eventually struck out on her own as an elemental mercenary instead, fighting up close in earth-armor, with a disciplined military bend to her kinetic powers.
