Hey all, it's been awhile since I made a map, partially because my game is suspended until this pandemic subsides and partially because I made a bunch in advance and haven't needed any. Today I bought a new map making tool, Dungeondraft, and spent some time drawing up a new map to test it out. So I thought I'd share it with everyone here. This map isn't explicitly laid out in the module, so I made one I thought would be fun, as well as test out a bit of the tools Dungeondraft has. Enjoy!

Awesome.
If you take suggestions for other maps to do, I think people could use 1 or 2 "dense jungle map" for random encounters on the Cult of Cinder adventure. There is a lack of that kind of maps in general (all the maps are situated in a clear in the jungle). It could be used for things like the Kishi encounter, random encounters with patrols, etc.
This comes form experience, I had to look on the web for maps for "dense jungle" but didn´t find one that I liked, so I had to improvise a bit with some assets.

I don't know how dense you want the jungle to be, but you can try the Jungle Clearing 1, Jungle Clearing 2 and Swamp maps I created.

I posted this in the GM Reference thread, but here again: Here is a quote from Tuskhead Stoneworking for the renovation of the Citadel. My party didn't want to do any of the work themselves, so this contains all the costs if outsourced 100%. The special requests were things they specifically wanted added to the Citadel. Link to PDF is on dropbox over HERE!

if anyone has a to do list, pls put the vengegate map on it! just took a snip of it fullpage from the maps pdf, and i can't line up the grid properly with the squares cause the lines are so bad and low res! fortunately i'm prepping well ahead (players are at start of B5!) so plenty of time!
all the ones i've seen are really great btw - keep up the good work!

I was inspired by DrDakka's deed to create my own for my group. I've trimmed and rewritten a bit to fit onto a single page. I'm not particularly handy with image editing but thought I'd share it in case anyone else could use it.
Like most people, we're having to play via Roll20. I've made a home page/landing page using the Vile Tiles: Table Tops set, and as they progress through the AP I'll be updating the table to have important things they acquire on it. The starting table top is a bit of a hodgepodge of stuff, but over time more of it will be related to Age of Ashes.

This is how I did it: (for Goblinblood caves specifically)
Change grid Cell Width to 100.
Page size width: 62 height 32.
Expand the map all the way, then finely adjust the map by holding alt and dragging on the wide and long axis, holding alt until you release mouse 1.
Since the grids are 200px it's easier if you change the roll20 grid size to either 50, 100, 150 or 200.
Other than that I'd like to echo everyone else in here: THANK YOU SO MUCH CONTRIBUTORS! Amazing work from all!

My general tips for getting a map well aligned in roll20:
1. Count the dimensions of the map's grid (eg: how many squares wide and high it is). Crop out partial grid spaces if necessary.
2. Make a map in roll20 that is the same dimensions.
3. Upload your map, put it on the map layer, right click it. Select "advanced, set dimensions".
4. Set the dimensions of your map to the dimensions you noted earlier.
5. The map should now be exactly the right size. Move it around a bit to make sure that all of it is visible, and your map's grid should be perfectly aligned with the one in roll20.

Thanks Tochmy and ToiletSloth, it helped a lot! I also realized there is a "align to grid" feature in advanced submenu. It doesn't works perfectly but it helps.
Thanks MSAbaddon for your maps (which I am using) and for your suggestion. We are veteran in-person players but we are new to VTTs so we are experiencing the free version of Roll20. But I'll take your suggestion on Foundry.

Citadel Altaerein, and some other maps in my devientart gallery
I will probably leave the big spoiler maps up for a week or so and then move them to a watcher only. I don't get enough traffic to worry spoiling too many people.

The Earthbound Angel encounter says the kishi is dragging the angel back to his lair. Which map are others using? Just one of the jungle clearing locations, or are you using something for the lair?
TomParker |
That's probably what I'll do. Although by lair, I'd assumed a simple cave, not anything that could sidetrack significantly. I'd originally thought GimmeYourShoes's cave map for intended for this encounter.

Hi guys, I know it's a really miserable work compared with others here, but I want to share my idea of landing page:
- I put a B&W map of the inner sea region which I want to color as long as PCs explore the world (very easy with GIMP, if someone interested I will explain)
- below the map are the portraits of my PCs
- on the right a "remind parchment" with the open questions on my campaign (in Italian)
- below an element of the last session (actually warg puppies stuff from our last one, with time I will update the file in this folder as my Pcs progress on the AP)
Here is a link to the google drive folder with all the stuff inside:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1pCIIXXqKDv6_2bv6NxVbxve0tWbTfgph?us p=sharing
there is png file that I finally upload to foundry vtt as a scene. there is also a "candela.webm" that I add as a tile on foundry with a source of light (is an animated GIF of a candle")
you can open xcf files with GIMP (free software) and modify them according to your needs
hope it will be of help to someone!!!

Hey all,
I have gotten a lot of use out of various uploads from this thread and it has made my game-running much smoother as a first-time GM. I appreciate all the hard work!! My group is getting close to closing out Hellknight Hill and I wanted to share some of the resources I made for my game to pass on some ideas and highlights from my sessions for the next group. I grouped and annotated the file uploads to explain their usage / purpose.
1. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1blQ8BzumXFEfZKZry_po_DaeIbHV730l/view?usp= sharing
One of my players has the Haunting Visions Background. I have used his dreams to be semi-prophetic if obscure plot-devices. So far foreshadowing the town hall fire and two different takes on the Hunter's Gate Way Station Hazard. This is the "cost" of that info.

I have a 5 player group and in addition to modifying combats, I have added a few side quests from NPC's in Breachill to both bring the town to life and control the pacing. I also wanted to introduce a relic (Darkwood Shield: Air and Water Gifts) for the party's Druid and this seemed a good way to do it.

One of my PC's is a Goblin Alchemist who tentatively worships the Goblin Hero Gods and I wanted to flesh out the Bumblebrashers and use them to give some world building exposition. I had Warbal and the Bumblebrashers host a feast after my PC's cleared the ground level of the Citadel.

I added this as an additional note that Voz was carrying on her person. It manifested as a way to warn the PC's about the Greater Barghest's danger and evilness (for the Goblin Alchemist), but it also serves as a means to tease the Scarlett Triad and a key way to deliver some clues about navigating the 7 mile cave crawl from Guardian's Way to Alseta's Ring which I decided to expand upon in the narrative.

This is my expanded quest session / cave crawl for the Goblinblood Caves. Its the most... inventive... and therefore the most confusing, particularly as it's shared.
The idea is small scale semi-blind hexploration in the Goblinblood Caves, based around using Voz's map made from Agler's field report above. I am using roll20 so the pink and green drawings on the map are only visable to the GM. Players just see the brown box over the hexes with the black borders. The map is CONCEPTUAL. Not LITERAL. And the point is that if they meet their survival checks they advance their token correctly along the straight line between miles 1 and 7. Those checks are secret though and therefore their token represents where they THINK they are. The pink lines (which only I can see) represent dead ends in the metaphorical cave system and a way to judge how lost they are. If the party fails a survival check I count up the number of potential hexes they could move into and roll percentile and move them into one of them. Ideally they get a little lost and eat up hexes traveled, but can course correct pretty easily. More hexes traveled, more chances for a random encounter and a need to camp to finish the cave.
This one is "at your own risk" and I am not sure my explanation is making it less complicated than just reading the directions I made in the images, but I thought it would be a fun challenge and something different to represent how insanely difficult cave exploration actually is. Particularly over SEVEN miles of barely explored sprawling caverns, it felt important to make them earn it.
I hope that someone finds some of this inspiring and that it is user-friendly enough to steal / customize. I know the files are view only or screenshots, but I like my privacy (sorry).

Does anyone happen to have made a map of Voz Lirayne's bookshop?
My parties Wizard purchased the shop at the end of Book 2 with a portion of their profits "since nobody was using those books anyways", and put Pid and Zarf in charge of the shop (and nothing bad will ever happen to them Im sure...)
Im thinking of changing the encounter that starts off Book 3 to be the bad guys capturing the kobolds rather than the wagon-smith, but obviously in doing so I need a map that isnt a wagon shop. Thanks in advance for your assistance :D
